Hey folks, here's a question.
I've been doing legal research on encryption for a while (article on the fifth amendment forthcoming this spring!), and I've been slowly acquiring old mining hardware in order to familiarize myself with various crytocurrencies' ecosystems.
Here's my question: I'm not looking to make money, or make an economic investment, but just to purchase some old hardware so that I can mine any SHA-256 or Scrypt based currency in appreciable amounts such that I can fool around with it enough. I'm not looking for the latest and greatest, just something enough to eke out a few of whatever currency I end up screwing around with more. (I've been mostly messing with PPC and DOGE).
Any idea where I can find people looking to offload old hardware or anything? Is Ebay the best option?
Well first you need to decide if you want scrypt or sha-256.You can look on ebay although the prices will be higher. You can look around here for the best prices most likely.

I'm about to pay an invoice for a domain. It cost $10/ year but the bank take $7.5 in transfer fee. 75% in fee That is ridiculous and this is why Bitcoin will succeed in the long run. Are you doing a bank transfer? Is it international? That seems like a really high fee. Espically when you can do it with a debt card for free.

Hello,
I would like to ask what happen if number of miners get trippled. Will be then amount of BTC mined with the same hashpower 3x less? Thanks!
The difficulty would increase making the chance of someone finding a block much harder. It would still be the same block reward.

Does anybody know anything about this? I received this email today in my junk folder and can't work out why they sent it to me if it's legit, i have nothing whatsoever to do with BTC mining. I'm thinking scam. Scam or legit?

I would not use them. I have also never heard of them. Generally those emails you get are just bad ponzi attempts.

I don't think that I have ever seen anyone rent a account it is a neat idea, but I can see the account being found pretty easy or someone just jacking the account in general.

Rumor: Putting Bitcoin ASICs in every device. Bitcoin Mining in the Internet of Things.
lol, good one That's what I thought first But maybe a possibility in 10-15Yrs time? The economics of scale won't change in 15 years nor like... ever. I agree, but open to see the evolution of BTC mining. Right now it looks like there will be more "mega mines" and VC/Angel money put into these large facilities. So back on point, do you think the price index is likely to reach $400 within next 30 days? It'll have to be an innovative application/marketing hype!! I do not think the price will rise to $400 in the next 30 days. I think there may be a small increase in the price. The price broke $300 for a short time today, but $100 increase is a lot to be asking now.

People think that they are too late because they heard of the stories that btc was only 30 cents at one time and people were mining hundreds of bitcoins a day.

So what's going on in here? Is this thing still running? Can one apply?
yes you can apply into this signature campagin yes its still running check OP and you can see all the details!! Why does he need to know my phone number? Weird. Same, this is the only thing putting me off joining... Bitcoin is meant tobe anonymous..if someone has my phone number.. i am no longer anonymous.. You can easily buy a sim card for like a dollar or two and recieve a new phone number you can use for many things or even just use an online service. perhaps in foreign countries, if you buy a sim card, when activating must use the original data? so you are afraid for it? that in my country it is very easy and simple, just buy a sim card for $1, and false data content, and you will remain anonymous You can also use google voice for free and just simply create a new number.

I don't understand why everyone still invests in these ponzi's. This is a way to tell if something is a ponzi. "How does the operator make money?" No one will give out free money. Especially if you have to deposit money to get the free money. It is a cool idea though, I just think it is one big ponzi that will turn into a scam.
you know what happen from site? I'm sorry I don't understand what you are trying to say. Can you explain?

I can see the government halving a problem with money in the next couple years. Currently the US's biggest source of revenue is borrowed money. Soon the people lending the money will be owed it back and the US will run into many issues with trying to balance out the debt.
|
|
|
Yes.....difficulty is increasing so rapidly day by day !!!
It is going to be too much effort for not enough reward soon if it already isn't Especially when the halving occurs. I see miners turning off their units, and possibly a rise in the btc price to compensate for the halving.

I'm sorry, but I have no idea what your project actually is. Also you have one post and you announce that you are working on a major project that will cost 1.2 million dollars? I find this really hard to believe. Sorry

I would not recommend you cloud mining. Almost every one of the sites are ponzi's most say that once operating costs more than the revenue they can shut down and that is being seen more and more now since the difficulty has been rising with the bitcoin price being relatively low. If you still want to cloud mine choose some company that is very transparent and very well known. This will minimize your risk of being scammed.

The best way is to be active. Get to a higher rank. Then join a signature campaign. That is the best way for you to be able to get a lot of bitcoins on this forum although in the end it is not very much.

Use blockchain.info if you have small amounts of bitcoins or bitaddress.org for a paper wallet. It is recommended to use a paper wallet if you are wanting a secure wallet. Or you can get a multisig wallet.

This is a very interesting script thanks for making this. I am thinking about making a btc node because it has always been on my mind, but I never wanted to risk making one. Now I think I may make one just for the support of bitcoin.
