201  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [CLOAK] Cloakcoin | No Premine | X13 | Decentralized Market and PoSA on: August 15, 2014, 06:25:36 PM
I agree with Coolstoryteller. I mean, what is the point of this thread? Answer: Announcing news about Cloak. Do people see consecutive announcements if they have to scroll through 50 pages? No, they donīt. People argue that it is good to have 700 pages. The only positive thing about the massive posting is, that the headline is visible in the Altcoin section, which is assumed to add some buzz. I understand that this is somehow valuable but once people check into the discussions they see a sea of shit.

Those who are against closing the thread: What sense has a thread with 700 pages? Noone but nerds read the whole thread which means on the other hand that most of the thread is just lost information (including those post that we assume to be valuable). Everyone knows that in one thread there is usually no real discussion once more than a few people are involved. Cloaktalk is a much better place to have discussions. I donīt see why people need this thread then. Even those who seriously want to claim scams have a place on cloaktalk.

Most of what I see here doesnīt help anyone but the people who want to spread FUD. Itīs also funny that people like SkyValeey appear to be interested in the fate of Cloak once it comes to reserving the thread to information only. Kinda ironic, isnt it?

202  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [CLOAK] Cloakcoin | No Premine | X13 | Decentralized Market and PoSA on: August 15, 2014, 01:15:03 PM
This USED to be a Cloak forum.  Who cares about Dark?  OMG.

+1

Vote to shut down BTC Cloak forum.  I'm all in favor now.  This is ridic.

I would vote no to shutting it down, and yes to having a strict and active mod or mods.

I think it makes sense to have serious discussions on Coin forums ONLY - in this case cloaktalk.org. In the end this is only ONE thread. It serves for announcement, yes, but it will never be a place for serious discussions given the amount of involved people. So I think it should be used strictly for that and everything else, including this post, should be deleted.

War between drk and cloak is not good for BOTH sides. Remember that when you attack one or the another,

I donīt think it is a war between people who advert DRK or Cloak, it is probably between pumper&dumbers that want to use the currency to get rich. I would have wished the same dev activity and feedback for Quark. I donīt see any real issues and regular activity. So if you are unhappy with your Cloaks sell them. A dropping price has anything to do with the potential that lies in active development.
204  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [CLOAK] Cloakcoin | No Premine | X13 | Decentralized Market and PoSA on: August 13, 2014, 07:19:25 AM
Interesting to see people talking of demise, only because the exchange rate is dropping. Are the developers actively working?  Yes they are. Is thr network compromised?  No, it isn't.

So now that the pumpers & dumpers left it's time to care for things that are more important. Smiley

P.S.: Just bought some Cloaks and looking forward to contribute to the community

As qrkFX has said, there is no reason for anyone to burn qrk if they don't wish too. I think this is the key point here and one which makes the maturation period null and void. Why would anyone burn just to dump straight away. I would not burn my qrk until core had a great development team behind it and some clear vision of where it was going. If it had those i would not be dumping.

Re: maturation period. Are you taking into account that you wouldnīt be able to burn endlessly but only for a certain period (I think I wrote 8 or 6 weeks but it could be less or more)?
206  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [QRK] Quark | cPoW | PC mining | Stability | Hashcows - QRK Payouts on: August 11, 2014, 08:40:59 PM
Well, isn't your document an announcement of the next big thing?
No, it isnīt. As pointed out several times it is a proposal, not an annoucement. Go, do the reading.

It's always so easy to write drafts and proposals instead of doing some real actual work, isn't it?

No, itīs not easy. You will find out once you do this kind of things on your own, promise.

fancy Coelho quote:
"If you start by promising something what you  donīt even have yet, youīll lose your desire to work towards getting it"

I am working on something big (software development thru QRK funding), but contrary to the coin and price manipulation you advocate, my project consists of real world economy to make quark successful, NOT trying to manipulate the coin into success.

Smiley

EDIT: Wait, werenīt you the one who announced to be working on a Quark based exchange?

Btw. I produced several animated videos for Quark, networked hundreds of hours to get people into the core group and worked with them, organized team meetings, set up a team folder structure and organized the designs, translated press releases, wrote to potential partners, developed the concept for the new forum and provided an endless amount of artworks for others that I never asked any credits for. I guess you somehow get why I find your attempts to put me in the "not doing anything for Quark" corner rather amusing with your few meme GIFs that can be generated within seconds. I see from your potential that my work isnīt needed anymore and will consequently take it offline.

The development should have come from all quarkers not only its coders. The failure to keep the momentum that Quark had back in December should also be put to the shoulders of the leading core supporters. If the good development and course wasn't as expected then why only blame and be sarcastic about others(namely Kolin) ?

I don't blame Kolin, in fact I already argued multiple time against scapegoating - if you read it differently: quote me. But yes I am sarcastic sometimes when I read certain statements and I guess that is not forbidden, is it? It is even likely that I become more sarcastic since I have to spend a lot of time to clarify things that are willingly or unwillingly misinterpreted. Your narrative is "We only need to stick together and everything's gonna be fine". I was part of that "sticking together" and don't find it promising anymore. Please leave me my personal experience, I don't mind you having your own and then we talk again. I

It's you who makes the extraordinairy claim that this maneuver (companion coin?) is going to help quarks price, so it's you who have to provide extraordinairy proof for that.

This is not a companion coin. Go and do the reading then we can talk. My personal opinion is that Quark will disappear and become a niche coin like many others. I expext this because it has been the development for months and without  a critical user base it doesn't appear likely to change. Your expectation appears to be that people will suddenly see Quark as the solvation to all their problems and make it a full sucess. Keep that thinking, to me it resembles like classical messianism and I don't really like it. From what I read it is totally fine with me that you prefer to go another way.

Sorry for not freakin out. It's just that I heard this too many times (e.g. in one video with Kolin and Bill Still) and I don't trust in magical promises. If you have something to present, present it. Everybody can announce the next big thing. If you can't show anything its better to remain silent until you can. I would be gladly proven wrong on this case, but I don't believe it.
208  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [QRK] Quark | cPoW | PC mining | Stability | Hashcows - QRK Payouts on: August 11, 2014, 05:13:07 PM
@ digitalindustry

I'm one of the devs at quark Reddit and let me show you some stats regarding our reddit traffic.

As you see it has basically no traffic and subscribers have not increased since months. It's always the same couple members posting and not counting sock puppets accounts which yourself have such account as well.

People have the right to chose if they want to stay or not and have the right to make their own projects, same goes for community members and investors which are tired of seeing the awful price decrease with no active development and community, so imo you have no right to criticise them.

I get the idea that some just are waiting for the "next Bitcoin bubble" that might have it's influence on quark or else without that many don't see quark rising on it's own feet. Core members gave it the benefit of the doubt once back in December but it didn't happen because you didn't really cooperated with them and again same happened with core members who came next. So the problem is not these members but something else right.
Hey Netnox, this must be obviously a good development and it is of course intended and planned.  It only shows that the real boom is not far...

For those who are interested in the Proof of Burn proposal that I made: You can find the Alpha Draft of the concept on Reddit.

http://www.reddit.com/r/QuarkCoin/comments/2d5521/proof_of_burn_concept_alpha_draft/

Very interesting. With a good dev team behind it i think it will be a great coin.

Are VIC and coinmama on board?

This is an individual proposal, it is nothing more than ideas and I would like to keep it this way for as long as it isn't finished. I am however talking to the people who are working on MC2 and will receive their comments on the Alpha Draft in the next few weeks. It is possible that they are not interested, it is also possible that they are interested to work with us independently from Quark. I am wxcited no matter what the answer is as I am following the project since it was quoted by fiatpete (i think it was him) some months ago.

Don't want to speak for Vic or Julie. Both know about my work and will probably comment on it once they find time.

It's interesting to see how people cry that they are against and ask question that proof that they actually haven't read the document Smiley

I read the reddit, and glanced over the document.

I am not sympathetic to the whole premise, so I am probably not going to read the document in all detail when I am not even agreeing with the premise (the description of the "supposed" problem).
Therefor any proposed "solutions" don't really make sense to me.

Noone forces you into agreeing with the premise and if the concept is carried out then still noone forces you to burn tokens. This is not a fork proposal. Whoever wants to participate participates, whoever prefers to stay stays. However, if you complain about the concept you should ar least know what it is about, otherwise it makes your whole point look quite ridiculous.

Btw. Georgem what serious business have YOU built for Quark? Instead of asking others to not waste their time with utter nonsense you should maybe do something for Quark on your own. Or have I overseen your rich contributions? Haven't seen any.

I'm impressed with the draft, what i like about Peter is that he as an ambitious dev (or one of the devs) of this coin who is connected to the community and is a strong favour of transparency, this alone build trust.

About the slowly maturing coins aka initial phase, if i understood right 50% will be paid back monthly spread into 5 years. Lets say someone needs his 50% or a major part of it, is it possible to request? Adding community fund of 20% makes 70% of the fund stored away. Wouldn't this 70% hold some off from investing/burning despite the issues it can solve?

Well yes, this is a deterrent to speculants and that is fully intended because while it reduces liquidity for a certain period it allows long term planning: as i wrote in the draft, this has zo be understood like a contract between all participants to not dump their holdings. If it could be hedged as proposed by Josh the sense would be undermined in a way and give way to speculation. Just my opinion on it.

Hey guys, as was written I am currently working on a Proof of Work concept paper. The draft is almost finished and if you want to peek in feel free to hit me a PM and I can make it available to you if you help with proof reading.

do you mean proof of burn?

I think he means the algorithm of the PoB coin

Yeah sorry, was in a hurry. Of course this refers to the Proof of Burn exit strategy that I proposed recently. Let me know if you would like to help with proof reading.

Does the cap of the PoB coin depend on how many quarks will be traded?

I think there are a couple different ways you can do it NetNox.

1. Set an IPO cap and distribute proportionally. Ex. assume there is a coin cap of 10 million coins for the IPO/Burn.
  • If a total of 1 million Quarks are donated, you will receive 10 Newcoins for every 1 Quark you burn.
  • If a total of 50 million Quarks are burned, you receive 1 Newcoin for every 5 Quarks you burn.

2. Establish a fixed conversion rate, ex. 1 QRK to 1 Newcoin. In this case, you can burn as many Quarks as you want and receive an equal number of Newcoins. For #2, there are a bunch of different options you can do though. For instance, you can set a limit on how many coins will be available in the sale. Ex. have a 10 million Newcoin IPO cap but still have a fixed 1:1 (or whatever) conversion rate.

Personally, I prefer option #1 because it lets the market decide how valuable the Newcoins are. Option #2 is what Ethereum is currently doing with their Ether presale. I worry this option creates an artificial price that could cause fluctuations once the coin is put on exchanges.

I see, interesting points

Actually I will take #1 for the concept paper, thanks Josh.

Markets decided this is totally wrong. 1700 sat.

It was very predictable for me. Not dependant on me. Only predictable.

Continue lowering the price. First coin with new innovative features (BTC, LTC, PPC, and some others maybe) fallen 20x. Congratulations on brainstorming!

Question is: where is the second bottom?

Why don't you read the chatlog? Then you would know why price is dropping.

thanks for the bumps guys - hopefully people will come and mine this beautifully cute crypto

Created 5 weeks ago. No pools, no exchanges, no block explorer.

This coin was dead from when the idea ticked in your head, Kolin.

kitaco the wierdo cat lady (that may also be Julie) decides who gets to mine what these days - she also decides which crypto is "dead" or "alive" -

what if another comes along?

wow i didn't know the Alternative section of Bitcoin talk  owed you the weirdo paid troll so much ?

let me just find this comment about paid government trolls and how they often recruit "sad pathetic people with no self esteem"

: D

Cats, you have Cats , so none of that applies to you of course ...

: D

Kolin, I think you should seriously calm down. The more smileys, "Ha ha"s, insults and conspiracy assumptions (Julie is Canon? What is wrong with you?) you place, the more desperate it looks.
