201  Other / Archival / Re: Are investors investing in Bitcoin at ATH now are fools ? on: March 06, 2024, 09:46:39 AM
It's not stupid to get some BTC when you can, either the price is high or not, you are only stupid if you invest all you have into BTC at once, nothing beats buying at a certain price right now and doing the same thing a week or month later, investing in BTC should be a gradual process, not all in an instant.

It's why new investors must not sleep on DCA, there is no way you are going to miss out, because BTC price isn't always the same in every month, and if you keep using DCA you won't worry about what this present value is.

I see both sides here.  Dollar-cost averaging has merits for the average investor looking to mitigate risk.  However, for those with conviction in an asset's long-term trajectory, temporary pullbacks may present opportunities.

Ultimately no strategy is one-size-fits-all.  DCA offers stability while lump sum buys enable one to capitalize on dips and  with crypto's volatility, the latter requires strong belief and risk tolerance.  Still having funds ready when blood is in the streets takes courage and may be rewarded.

The fools are those who don't buy anything, they never take any actions because they want BTC to go lower before they start buying, such people are the biggest fools in this crypto space, and I do hope that they learn their lessons, it's always risky to be out of bitcoin especially when the price tumbled over.

The people holding out for some massive drop in prices - they may just miss the ride completely.  Not saying it won't happen, but that's the chance they take dragging their heels.  In my experience the real fools in crypto are folks too frozen to commit one way or the other!

If anyone used the news portal copy and paste, In this stages will account banned ?

First offense? Maybe you'll only get a slap on the wrist (post deleted by a moderator). But keep plagiarizing content, and you're outta here. Plagiarism is a no-go according to the forum rules, and the mods decide how harsh the penalty gets.

If account holder realized it's violation of forum rule and remove the related post still be banned the account?

Probably not!  Most mods are cool with folks cleaning up their own messes.
203  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: hito - New Hardware Wallet Open Source on: March 05, 2024, 10:22:16 AM
Yeah, looks a bit fishy for me. They claimed it is open source and I have wasted  time  trying to find its code on github but failed, there is no such stuff there. They urge for pre-oders on their shop site but even discount there ("Regular priceŁ121.00 GBP Sale priceŁ101.00 GBP" ) didn't  lend my credibility to this wallet. Thus I would refrain from proceeding further.

Hito wallet is not exactly a new kid on the blockchain. They announced it at various events since 2021, it was featured in a Techcrunch article in 2022, and mentions all over the media portals.

Then, sometime in 2022, they did a company switcheroo - Hito Gmbh became Hito Inc., moved their offices to U.S., and ditched their old websites (hito.io and gethito.com) for a brand new one (hito.xzy).

Funny thing is, near as I can tell, Hito's always been on pre-sale and you still can't actually buy one.  No clue if thats just how they operate, but seems to me they oughta update their site with expected shipping dates. Their website's delivery info is a year out of date!  Still promising a "second batch of beta-devices" in late May 2023?  Get real.  They should at least give a realistic timeline if they expect anyone to take them seriously.
204  Economy / Economics / Re: Approaching BTC ATH in $, but lets see that for local groceries prices on: March 04, 2024, 03:09:12 PM
According to inflation calculators online, the U.S. dollar has lost some serious buying power since 2021. A cumulative inflation rate is around 13.8%.

So, if we adjust for inflation, that sweet $69,000 ATH from back then translates to roughly $78,522 ($69,000x1,138) today.

The Eurozone seems to have a slightly higher cumulative inflation rate at 16.9%.  That means for my European friends, the real Bitcoin ATH would be close to €69,900 (€59,800 x 1,169), or $75,900 based on today's exchange rate.

Fun fact btw: BTC just broke its previous all-time high in Euros, reaching above €59,800 which was set in 2021.

208  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: seed and wallet validation on: March 03, 2024, 10:19:31 PM
What is your opinion about these steps ? Do you perform any of these ?

Honestly, I do. I think it is always prudent to send a small amount first before a large transaction if possible.

As for verifying you can send from the wallet (signing transactions), you don't even need to send anything outside.  Just create a test transaction within the wallet, sending back to itself.
209  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Eurovision 2024 bets on: March 03, 2024, 09:02:26 PM
Let me know if you find any crypto bookies accepting Eurovision bets!

There are many reputable online sportsbooks that do. Actually, almost all of them.

You can find Eurovision betting odds on popular platform BC.Game here:
Code:
https://bc.game/sports?bt-path=%2Fspecials-18

And there are of course others, such as BK8, Cloudbet, Duelbits, FortuneJack, Sportsbet, Stake...
210  Other / Meta / Re: New happening event notifier on: March 03, 2024, 08:32:45 PM
In my opinion, what I can suggest is for a new sub-board to be caved out for every yearly forum event to be announced there.

We don't need a new sub-board for that, one thread will be enough. Like this one for example: Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns

Anyone can make a thread like that if they want to. It might be useful for the community, but it will need to be updated regularly to remain relevant.
211  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Single seed & passphrase with FOUR backups or 2/3 multisig? on: March 03, 2024, 07:38:35 PM
Option one (single seed & passphrase) requires four secure locations for redundancy (two hardware devices with backup seeds + two passphrases). You need access to two specific locations to access your funds (hw + passphrase), but at the same time, if an attacker gets a hold of any of your seed backups, he won't know that he also needs a passphrase to steal your funds. You can create a fake wallet (without a passphrase) and transfer a small amount of Bitcoin that you're comfortable losing.

Option two (2/3 multisig) requires storing a wallet in at least five locations (two hardware devices + three seed backups) or ideally six locations (three hardware devices + three seed backups). You need access to at least two separate locations to access your funds (hw1+hw2 or hw1+seed2 or some other combination). At the same time, at least two seed backup locations must be compromised for an attacker to gain access to your funds.

Personally, I like the first option better, mainly because of simplicity and better fault tolerance, but it is important to note that if you lose access to both locations with your passphrase, and passphrase is not memorized, your funds will be lost permanently.
212  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin's last big rally in this cycle on: March 03, 2024, 01:54:29 PM
With each historical top lower than the previous ATH, I think that Bitcoin tends to consolidate itself in the market and become more stable (than it is today).

I believe that this cycle has great potential to be greater than the previous ones, I cite as a basis the performance of Bitcoin this year, where Bitcoin almost broke 64K USD, almost reaching the ATH even before the halving, this is unprecedented, imagine what it can do happen the following year, which is usually the leg with the highest increase.

We know that this is due to the highly positive moment for Bitcoin, ETH approved, institutional money coming in.

To be honest, I hope I'm wrong and that the infinite highs continue.

Lower highs aren't exactly a sign of stability, more like a slow leak.  Just because Bitcoin did well this year doesn't mean it's on a guaranteed rocket ride forever.  This "infinite highs" thing sounds like wishful thinking.

Crypto is volatile, that's the whole game.  It could go up, it could crash.  Hoping for never-ending gains might set you up for disappointment.  Just sayin'.
213  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sensitivities of Bitcoin secret hunters. on: March 03, 2024, 01:27:22 PM
If the @OP didn't give it to him, his mother will ask @OP to give him for a second.

Just a reminder: Grown-ups usually don't have to do everything their mothers tell them!

Other scenario he will say @OP is stingy, instead of enjoying the holiday

OP said it was "a family emergency", not a holiday.
214  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: 2-month-old transaction still unconfirmed, stuck in mempool on: March 03, 2024, 01:09:47 PM
So now that it's back in the mempool, I'm wondering whether it will be confirmed along with any future transactions I send.

If both transactions consume the same UTXOs, then the unconfirmed transaction is invalid and can never be confirmed (regardless of when it was created or broadcast). It will be dropped from the mempool.
215  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Lost email address for Blockchain on: March 03, 2024, 11:26:58 AM
It's a lot of money at stake.

That sounds weird, dude.  Seriously, how do you forget the email address tied to a bunch of money?  Perhaps try retracing your steps by searching through old messages to jog your memory.  Blockchain may offer some solutions, but if we're talking a substantial sum, hiring a professional could prove wise.  They can deal with them in a way that gets results, you know, all professional-like.
216  Other / Meta / Re: Use of AI on Bitcoin talk on: March 03, 2024, 09:05:11 AM
There should be some framework to address AI posts.

You can use the framework outlined in nutildah's 'AI Spam Report Reference Thread' for reporting AI spam.  In my experience, most reports that are submitted there and follow the guidelines tend to get addressed by the moderators.
217  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mining Heat recovery and scalability on: March 03, 2024, 08:26:25 AM
Your project idea has some real merit, though the initial scope may be too ambitious.  There are likely existing technologies that could be leveraged here, without needing to build an entire custom thing from scratch. Why would you even need a custom blockchain for this?

I'd suggest starting with deep research into current waste heat recovery methods. Survey the landscape to understand current solutions and where the gaps may be.  An initial minimum viable product could focus on a smaller piece of the puzzle as a proof of concept.  Building on existing infrastructure allows for quicker testing and learning.  As progress is made, the scope could then expand.  But keeping things simple up front helps validate assumptions.

I wish you the best, Max!
218  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Lost email address for Blockchain on: March 01, 2024, 01:22:56 PM
The odd thing is that when I wrote down the wallet ID / password etc I also wrote down my usual email address.

This however they say is not linked to the wallet.

Email addresses on Blockchain.com were case-sensitive, check if that might be a problem. When you try to log in, you should receive a confirmation email in your inbox. Check the spam folders, or antivirus or antispam filters at your email provider, which could block the message. Ask your email provider to check their incoming message logs.

Can you find any messages from blockchain.com (or.info) in your archives? That should confirm that you really used that email address.

Surely Blockchain.com have a legal obligation to re-instate my email address (as I have all other security info)?

Otherwise this can be considered theft by Blockchain.com themselves.

I'm not a lawyer, so this might be a question for your legal counsel.  However, their terms of service probably have something in there that lets them off the hook in such cases.
219  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Lost email address for Blockchain on: March 01, 2024, 12:52:22 PM
I opened the wallet in 2014 and have a 17 word mnemonic phrase.

This means your seed isn't a true BIP39 mnemonic; it's a custom one specific to their platform and solely used to back up your password (and wallet ID). It won't work for recovering your wallet anywhere else.

Your only option is to contact their customer support and request assistance in resetting the email address associated with your wallet. If they are unable (or reluctant) to assist with recovery, you can consider your wallet to be lost.

Have you tried recovering your wallet using this option? - https://login.blockchain.com/wallet/forgot-password?guid=

Unfortunately, that probably won't work either, since he doesn't even remember the email address he used.

When I try to reach out now ez now on this Forum. I get deleted or no response. Then I found the secret key I had a picture of and some of it says it's still the wrong one.

Your posts were deleted because they were off-topic (you posted in their signature campaign thread).

If anybody has way the help me that would be great.

You can send a personal message to TheQuin or post your question in FreeBitco.in's official thread.

But even better, contact them through the official contact forum on their website.
