Don't you think it's important that this "Error:transaction creation failed" is fixed before we try to get on any more exchanges?

When exactly are you getting this error? I just sent a 300,000 transaction and it worked fine.
Not me specifically, but there's a lot of complaints on the past few pages of posts.
One pool I was on Minep.it can't send me what I've mined because of it.  32k+ worth of water.

Here is an idea... I have seen wallets display that error when the number of inputs to a transaction exceeds some internally preconfigured value which is usually 50 or 60. Don't know if that is the case for the CWC wallet. What you can do is export all unspent received transactions into an Excel spreadsheet, order them by amount, largest first, take the sum of first few transactions and try to send that amount minus any processing fees. If this works, then the solution is to break the original amount to send to few smaller amounts none of which would require more than those 50 to 60 (or whatever the value is) inputs.

Hopefully this helps.

Action on Bittrex looks ripe for pump in next day or two. Someone bought a lot of dumped coins this last two days, and they are going to want to profit from that.

If you are selling, I suggest raising your sell orders past 50 sats and staggering them out up the ladder. I am even gonna stick one hail mary at 150 sats and leave it there. =)

(Edit: Going out of town to have a baby. Be back in a few days. Hope to see some good news about this coin when I get back!)

Good luck, I hope everything goes well with the baby!  Cool

It's nice to see the network hash rate is slowly increasing, however everyone seems to be using water.suprnova.cc and when I last looked they accounted for about 90% of the network hash.

This is very bad as it potentially leaves WATER open to a 51% attack (although I'm sure the lovely people at Suprnova wouldn't dream of doing so.) More importantly this could lessen confidence in the coin even if there is the potential for this to happen. The last thing we need at this point is more problems so we need to spread the hash around some other pools, no one pool should have over 50% of the network hash power.

Now I know that I gave suprnova a plug a few posts back and they are very good, but there are other pools out there and we need to use them!

Speaking of Suprnova, as being the THE most reliable pool, it would be nice to see more people donating to them. They are running their pool with no fees after all, and still have costs they have to take care of.

is 0.9.1 bitcoin update going to affect every altcoin?

If the question is for the OpenSSL Heartbleed bug, then I think the answer is yes. Most wallets I have seen are linked to OpenSSL 1.0.1f library which contains that bug. Version 1.0.1g contains the fix. I know of at least few that were updated. Obviously, the CWC wallet should be patched in due course as well.

Here is some more information about the referenced OpenSSL bug from one of the Vertcoin devs. He provides more flavor about what actually is impacted. In addition to the explanation, it provides a link for pool operators to verify if they are vulnerable to the problem.

Conf file should be in the roaming\clearwatercoin

YouIsPeng, WALKEN-COIN, thank you both! I learned something today.

EDIT: I suggest that both messages (one for blockchain sync with config file, one without) are linked from OP so this information does not get lost in this long thread.

Bittrex wallet is disabled as well

This sucks

Yeah it is down.

That's odd because market history shows trade after you posted that screenshot (see c/p from Bittrex below). Could it be issue with their platform instead of the CWC wallet?

I keep asking the same question, so far no answer!

The Official Pool of Clean Water Coin

We are investingating issues in the backend. Your shares and hashrate are safe and we will fix things ASAP.

Findblocks disabled, new blocks will currently not show up in the frontend
Payouts disabled, you will not receive any coins to your offline wallet for the time being

Ok, so the big ?'s has anyone received or sent any coins today?

Is this site (water.suprnova.cc), someone posted paying out a few messages ago? Or anyone know of transactions actually working?

If you are asking whether transactions work in general, they do with the new Windows wallet. I received mining payment from suchpool, and I was able to send payments that were confirmed by the network. All transactions occurred after block 8500. The official pool is run by the creators of this thread, so they should be able to see your messages and reply.

Your wallet @ the right block for both current & est block, or just current?

Current block 9290, estimated 8786

Restarted wallet, now both at 9291

EDIT: It does seem that estimated blocks value is moving backwards and forward, now at 8499. However, current value is moving forward only, now 9295, and the wallet regards itself as synced.

While on my trip in to NYC I got to check in now and then. I am glad things are getting worked out. I have faith things will fall into place. This is just the beginning and I already know what is in store. Good luck guys.

You're a moron if you actually believe "this is just the beginning"....they HAVE NOT worked things out.  All they have done is fuck everyone because they don't know how to build a working fucking coin.

They rushed the coin before testing. That was a mistake, and either you can live with that mistake and move on, or you can't.

They decided not to reset and orphan 400 million coins that had already been spread around, leaving buyers and everyone else holding bags, when they could do other things and still make the coin work.

Yes, people lost value on IPO big time. But if you were there in IRC, you realized you could get your IPO value back by buying small amount of BTC worth of inflation coins and holding. A lot of people did that I think, because price went from 3 to 5 sats up to around 15-20 sats. People are still holding. This coin has high potential for price increase.

Devs are still discussing what to do with IPO after fixes are done and everything is back on track. I do not know if they plan on compensating IPO investors with anything or not. They are discussing it though.

IPO is usually bad idea. This coin ended up with a second, indirect IPO for anyone who was shopping on Bittrex after the coin issues due to very cheap prices, that offered a way to make up losses from PLC.

Now that the coin issues are being fixed, the value should rise again, making early investment at the basement prices a good investment. The POS and limited/1billion coin total will keep miners interested, especially after prices rise from media/new exchanges.

I am going to have to copy and paste one of these posts so I can just spam it everytime a pissed off dude hits the forum.

So yeah, sucks for IPO investors and miners who weren't paying attention. No reason to fill the forum with blue ink like a child throwing a tantrum and accuse people of masterminding ludicrous, Robin-Hood-like scams that allow you to get coins at low prices before they go up in value.

Just sayin'....

I am of somewhat different opinion on couple of points:

1. This is no more 1B total coins. Due to the mistake additional 470M coins were produced, some orphaned, forked and what not. The newest fork didn't move the bands (250000 and 500000 blocks) nor change the rewards using the cute difficulty based formula. So the coins were a pure add on to the 1B minus 1000*8xx coins that were originally planned to be issued in blocks 7000-8000. My back of the napkin (with provisions for orphans, forks, etc) suggests that we likely now have 1.3 - 1.5 B total coins that will be issued, a substantial increase. Once they run the math, they will need to update the OP accordingly.

2. The dev team should consider themselves lucky to have run an IPO, which allowed them to hold capital in currency different than WATER. I already have put myself on the record of how I think that should be used, and I hope that at least part of it will be used to prop the coin and community up. The situation would have been really dire if they had nothing else to fall back on after what just happened.

Now how is that Windows wallet compilation coming along?  Wink
212  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [Hard Fork Coming] Clean Water Coin | $2,000 Donated to Charity: Water on: April 09, 2014, 05:07:53 PM
UPDATE:

Devs were in IRC last night and night before most of the night trying to put out the fire and discuss plans for after fixes are in.

Around 12:30-1am PST, everyone was waiting to see if the fork would go smoothly at block 8500 before deciding anything for sure. The fork went smoothly for pools who had updated with us and linux users, and miners are now mining away and getting the right rewards.

The windows wallet issue of getting  stuck at block 8499. The issue was not solvable without a re-compile, and since it was very late here, nobody wanted to start that project in the wee hours and went to bed. That was only 7 hours ago or so.

I have been in the IRC room chatting with them for the last two days and this is the state of the union as it stands:

1. The coin is alive and well despite birthing pains, and price went up from 3-5 sats to 20 to 21 sats in 24 hours, despite issues. With ~400 Mil coins in circulation, there is plenty of room for growth. Take a look at some other coins for examples. Plenty of demand is available out there to eat up the supply, we just need time to develop the coin, just like any other coin. If you build it, they will come.

2. The development team was hit very hard by seeing their baby go off the tracks. They have been recovering from the stress/shock of the meltdown and have been actively in IRC trying to get issues solved. This has been extremely stressful for them, just like it would be for you if your business/project suddenly had major issues. They want to correct the issues at hand, but do not want to come on the forum and make hasty statements when they don't have a full outline for plan of action yet. People have made a lot of good suggestions, and those are being discussed. I assume the train can pick up steam once the tracks are solid. You can ask them questions in IRC if you are interested in doing so!

3. If you were in IRC, you got to witness the coin community, and even those from competing coins, come together to help get the train back on the right track. It was nice to see the communal effort. This shows that the coin has backers and supporters even in the worst of times.

4. What to do next is being discussed, and suggestions from this thread were being reviewed and discussed both on IRC and between the devs in RL. They need time between jobs and family to take care of all this. They are aware of people's disappointment, and are doing what they can to correct the mistakes.

5. Once the windows wallet is finalized and fixed, there is nothing stopping the coin from doing exactly what is was going to do anyway. We can move forward and see how high this ship can fly.

I was an early investor, and I totally get the issues with the IPO value going down. I already knew IPO were extremely high risk when I sent my BTC. I knew I was taking a risk when I bought more WATER after the bug. Luckily, I have seen other coins go through similar issues at start up, and I also know they can rise in value exponentially after some time and effort is put in by the community to get the coin to big exchanges, press, etc. I still think that is what is in store for this coin. I hope the Dev team comes up with a good plan to make IPO investors feel better about their initial decision.

I am holding my coins and letting them mature and age. The price is STILL undervalued, and is really only on one exchange right now, so that gives exclusive access to early adopters. This is the time where the largest opportunity to buy shares cheaply is, before a rise in price happens. At least that is my analysis and prediction. People were buying coins soon as they knew the miners could mine, so that is a good sign.

I hope the devs can find time to post more on here to keep the worried users/investors calm. In the meantime, keep it positive and keep voting on Mintpal! If you have invested in this coin, you can do nothing better than give positive support and encouragement to the people actively trying to fix the issues and move forward.

Cheers!

Thank you for the update WALKEN-COIN. There should be more flavor along with a path forward given by the dev team once they get some rest and reduce their stress. Personally, I will hold off from asking any questions until I see what they have to say.

The windows wallet needs to be updated.
It can only sync to block 8499.
Please be patience.
It will be fixed after the dev waking up.

WAITING FOR THE FIX.

"The dev"? Like in a single person (I guess cryptowest) trying to fix this mess? A developer can be brilliant, but when s/he has to do the work of multiple people with stress for good measure added, mistakes are certain to follow. No wonder that we are where we are. @CleanWaterCoin needs to get this person help fast. Nobody will want to be involved with this coin long term if it is perceived that it cannot fix its code.
214  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [Hard Fork Coming] Clean Water Coin | $2,000 Donated to Charity: Water on: April 09, 2014, 03:00:21 PM

Who knows how much of that is in people's hands. And I feel you about hashing.at, lost myself coins there mined after the block 7000 fork. As they are still down, I cannot even withdraw the pre-7000 block coins that I see I have there. Beautiful.

People have been warned over, and over, and over, about hashing.at.  They have forked many coins now, losing TONS of $$ and coins for people.  The admin does not know what he is doing.

If you mine this coin, or any new coins at hashing.at, be prepared to lose more.  It's just their track record.  Want to know how he responds to it?  Search this forum for "fork" and you'll see Numan calling everyone "fags" and other bad words.  Because of this, he is now blacklisted as a scampool.  Even when the devs asked him to stop his pool because he was on a fork, he responded to the devs with vulgar statements and continued to have people waste their time hashing on hashing.at  .  He just doesn't care.  He also used lies to cover up lies.

Thanks binary. You get burned and you learn. Hopefully, he will do the right thing and allow people to get their remaining coins.
215  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [Hard Fork Coming] Clean Water Coin | $2,000 Donated to Charity: Water on: April 09, 2014, 12:11:45 PM
@Introvert.....I have suggested this more than once and never got any type of reply.

I think they have just two options:

1. Give back the PLC money to the investors and let the coin die, or..
2. Do as we both have suggested and use the PLC BTC to buy up all these dumped coins and get prices stabilized.

Some would think giving the PLC BTC to the charity would be option 3, but it isn't really an option at all. The investors did so to get a viable coin with a decent ROI. They did NOT donate to charity. If donating to charity was their intent, they could have done so directly.

I agree with you and would like to go for option 2, and I really don't care about 1. I am definitely willing to hear any other ideas that the Dev Team might have in due time.

Thank you for your involvement and support of this coin!

I thought that was a good idea the first time you suggested it. The devs can turn the IPO in to a MUCH bigger IPO buy buying millions of the inflationary coins cheap to drive up price due to more limited supply.

So yeah, buy up most of the WATER with the IPO and let it start staking while they do the things they were already going to do. Stake would be pretty massive.

They only got about 20 BTC.
Just assume the price can go up to 10 times, 80 sat, although I think it is too hopeful.
It is still far from the original price, ~300 sat.
Also we need other supporters for the price in order to make it stable.  Undecided

The market now values all WATER issued at 47 BTC (470M WATER * 10 satoshi). The dev team holds capital of 20+ BTC against that market cap. That is pretty sizable coverage of over 40% and they can be a big market player at this capitalization if they wish. Now, nobody says they need to burn all PLC BTC for this. But, in my view, they need to buy enough to stabilize the price of the coin, regain control as much as possible and use part or all of it to build up the community. I am sure the Dev Team didn't think they would need to engage in "market manipulation", but that is a cost of this mistake.

Nobody should expect to see 200-300 satoshi fast with this number of coins. Only with building up and support of the community we might get there eventually, and that's not guaranteed.

Probably 40 percent of the coins that were mined from block 7000-8000 were orphaned because hashing.at (who had the most hashing power) forked.  Some of the coins mined on suchpool didn't make it to miners wallets either. Those coins are gone forever. So, actually there are alot less than 470M water in circulation right now. Who knows the actual number though. I would guess about 300M.. maybe less.

I totally agree.

I lost nearly a half million at hashing.at and couple hundred K more at suchpool.pw

To be fair, I lost way more than I received from either pool.

I also really think the 470m figure is grossly overstated.

Is there a way to determine exactly how many coins are out there?

In the absence of a working block explorer, the best answer I can offer comes from the console of the windows wallet which is currently stuck at block 8499:

"moneysupply" : 472698603.76070100

Who knows how much of that is in people's hands. And I feel you about hashing.at, lost myself coins there mined after the block 7000 fork. As they are still down, I cannot even withdraw the pre-7000 block coins that I see I have there. Beautiful.

217  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [Hard Fork Coming] Clean Water Coin | $2,000 Donated to Charity: Water on: April 09, 2014, 12:00:43 PM
yes, give my IPO BTC back . now who will mine it ?  no profit! but lose eletric power cost!

Initial public offering (IPO) or stock market launch is a type of public offering where shares of stock in a company are sold to the general public, on a securities exchange, for the first time. Through this process, a private company transforms into a public company. Initial public offerings are used by companies to raise expansion capital, to possibly monetize the investments of early private investors, and to become publicly traded enterprises. A company selling shares is never required to repay the capital to its public investors.

Guys, when you invest in something like this you're taking a risk. That's the very nature of it.
If it was a case of "make a profit, or your money back" then everyone would do it. But everyone doesn't do it... because it's risky. Because stuff like this happens - and you don't always make your money back, never mind make a profit. You all need to stop crying about it and move on.

And stop sending money to random people on the internet and then throwing a hissy fit because they won't give you it back.
I agree with your points. BUT.
The information about the coin is not 100% or even 50% match to the reality.
YES, the investors should understand all the things about the coin before they invest in.
BUT the reality does not match their understanding.  Undecided
Actually non of us expect this result.

You cannot expect anything else but FUD when the dev team has stopped communicating to us here. There is absolutely nobody that is trying to do any damage control related to people's perceptions. You are trying, but you do not have enough information. I understand they are trying to save a sinking ship, but I am certain that not all of them (or whatever has remained of them) are needed on freenode to fix problems.

This coin has the stigma of incompetence that it has to get rid off. The technology related one has been on display and nobody can deny it. I am suprised at the communications one which is becoming evident. I am also surprised that nobody on the team understands they have everything to lose from shutting us out of information in case they were ever serious about developing this coin. It is perfectly understandable how someone would feel scammed at this point. There have stopped talking to us while ago. We will find out soon enough whether it was by design or they are just completely overwhelmed and inexperienced in treating crises situations.

@Hostmaster: Are you aware of this problem with Bitcoin wallets? Since altcoin wallets are based on Bitcoin wallets does it affect us?

I can't figure out from this whether it would or not or if it would be just with certain compiles.

"The payment protocol only exists in 0.9." -> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=562400.msg6133034#msg6133034

It's not used in our case,  the issue is related  on ssl depended applications, and those known secure, understood not anymore.

Hostmaster,

Here is some more information about the referenced OpenSSL bug from one of the Vertcoin devs. My understanding is that Bitcoin 0.9.0 was especially vulnerable due to the way they implemented SSL via previous the OpenSSL version and that now has been patched in Bitcoin 0.9.1 by using a new OpenSSL library. The Vertcoin dev provides more flavor about what actually is impacted. In addition to the explanation, it provides a link for pool operators to verify if they are vulnerable to the problem. Might be worth for someone in your team to look at it.
