My three are:
AppleByte Doge Gulden
AppleByte has a lock on the artist market, and is growing like crazy with tipping artists on twitter. Doge already has the biggest community. Gulden is doing a great job of really building its local community in the Netherlands.

Any I missed, please let me know and I will add them.
But this is not for coins that are focused on technology mainly, like anonymous or Crypto 2.0, etc. But is focused on coins that have a purpose for their user community, that is separate from the technology.

Every institution will reach a point in its existence where its primary function becomes self-preservation and perpetuation, instead of serving human need. Perhaps my views are incorrect but this is how the BTC ruled crypto space appears to me now. Development of anything that does not directly benefit BTC and it's whales is both passively and actively discouraged. You can barely get a conversation going to discuss anything that offers an alternative. I agree with one exception. You are right that all the so called "innovation" coins don't add enough value to make them significant. But I do think there will be a few niche coins like Doge, AppleByte, Gulden that will do well in their niche and will actually lead more people to bitcoin.

Congrats! I like this coin. Keep up the good work!

I would not expect many of the users of these forums to get this strategy But I think it is brilliant! And that is why I have been mining and investing in this coin since the beginning

/r/cryptocurrency on reddit used to be, but not as active lately

I invest longterm, so I look for alts with a real, growing user community, not just day traders.
My top 4 are:
Bitcoin AppleByte Doge Guldencoin

I don't think wallet security for the individual is the problem. Simply by encrypting and backing up a personal wallet, it becomes very safe. Hacks like That on Bitstamp are because it is a big target. An individual PC is not a big target and much less likely to be hacked.

NXT It's a fun economic experiment that I'm glad I'll be able to say I was a part of.
I agree, it was a fun experiment, I participated in the beginning. But with the general public still not even understanding bitcoin yet, all these "asset" type coins are just too early for the market.
|
|
|
Hold your coins, and don't spend = no user community = slow sinking price!!!
Look at NXT and any other POS coin that has been around a while. Forget the continued hype, just look at the price.

I am impressed with this coin and have been accumulating AppleByte since they launched. They keep doing what they said they would do from the beginning, and that is focus on building a real user community.
I think in reality, they probably rank #4, if you take out the coins that are primarily only followed by crypto nerds.
If you do that, it would be:
1. Bitcoin 2. Doge 3. Redd (but as a direct competitor to Doge, I don't know if they will last) 4. AppleByte
If you look at Applebyte's FB & Twitter communities, it is amazing, how they have engaged artists & their fans. And with the coming twitter tip bot and music site allowing musicians to sell their music for AppleBytes, it will only get stronger.

I would think Bittrex adds the most coins.

Simple, clear explanation. I wonder if the users understand a peer-to-peer network, but i know of no other way to explain it.
|
|
|
Very true, Doge is here to stay, although you can probably buy it at a little lower price this year.
|
|
|
Don't forget the coming site to sell music for AppleBytes!
|
|
|
Congrats! AppleByte is the only coin in my portfolio that has gone up in value consistently this year!

I just noticed several vendors selling altcoins on Ebay, for paypal. Small amounts, I guess to minimize paypal risk.
I did not know you could do that. Ebay allows it now?
