201  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best long term investment under 30k sat on: February 07, 2015, 02:11:06 PM
My bet is on AppleByte, launched on May 1, 2014.The digital currency supporting the arts.

A real user community, 12,900+ on Twitter & 11,700+ on FB.
Currently rated number 5, on CoinGecko in terms of user community size and support.

Through the Twitter tipping app, launched two months ago, over 350 artists have been tipped more than 100,000 AppleBytes by their fans.
Just launched a new music download site, where you can buy music with applebytes.

Has strong industry recognition:

A nice twitter acknowledgement from a friend in NYC

GoCoin Chairman & Co-founder, Brock Pierce twitter acknowledgement

For success longterm a coin must have a real, growing user community, not just traders on an exchange.

203  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which community focused coins have the most longterm potential? Vote for three. on: February 03, 2015, 06:55:52 PM
My three are:

AppleByte
Doge
Gulden

AppleByte has a lock on the artist market, and is growing like crazy with tipping artists on twitter.
Doge already has the biggest community.
Gulden is doing a great job of really building its local community in the Netherlands.
204  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Which community focused coins have the most longterm potential? Vote for three. on: February 02, 2015, 11:56:01 PM
Any I missed, please let me know and I will add them.

But this is not for coins that are focused on technology mainly, like anonymous or Crypto 2.0, etc.
But is focused on coins that have a purpose for their user community, that is separate from the technology.

Quote
Every institution will reach a point in its existence where its primary function becomes self-preservation and perpetuation, instead of serving human need.

Perhaps my views are incorrect but this is how the BTC ruled crypto space appears to me now. Development of anything that does not directly benefit BTC and it's whales is both passively and actively discouraged. You can barely get a conversation going to discuss anything that offers an alternative.

I agree with one exception. You are right that all the so called "innovation" coins don't add enough value to make them significant. But I do think there will be a few niche coins like Doge, AppleByte, Gulden that will do well in their niche and will actually lead more people to bitcoin.
206  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Guldencoins iOS wallet officially on App Store! on: January 24, 2015, 02:26:56 PM
Congrats!
I like this coin. Keep up the good work!
207  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Three tiered pricing to meet the needs of three different altcoin users on: January 24, 2015, 02:25:48 PM
I would not expect many of the users of these forums to get this strategy
But I think it is brilliant! And that is why I have been mining and investing in this coin since the beginning
208  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Serious cryptocurrency forum without trolls? on: January 23, 2015, 07:03:22 PM
/r/cryptocurrency on reddit used to be, but not as active lately
209  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is Your Top 5? on: January 23, 2015, 06:46:55 PM
I invest longterm, so I look for alts with a real, growing user community, not just day traders.

My top 4 are:

Bitcoin
AppleByte
Doge
Guldencoin

210  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin's biggest problem is the language we use to describe it on: January 08, 2015, 02:13:26 PM
I don't think wallet security for the individual is the problem. Simply by encrypting and backing up a personal wallet, it becomes very safe. Hacks like That on Bitstamp are because it is a big target. An individual PC is not a big target and much less likely to be hacked.
211  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: NXT is dying :-( on: January 08, 2015, 02:08:37 PM
NXT It's a fun economic experiment that I'm glad I'll be able to say I was a part of.

I agree, it was a fun experiment, I participated in the beginning. But with the general public still not even understanding bitcoin yet, all these "asset" type coins are just too early for the market.
212  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / POS - Proof of Sinking price.... on: December 11, 2014, 03:50:16 PM
Hold your coins, and don't spend = no user community = slow sinking price!!!

Look at NXT and any other POS coin that has been around a while. Forget the continued hype, just look at the price.
213  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What Alt-Coins Do You NOT Consider A Pump & Dump? on: November 25, 2014, 05:28:29 PM
Litecoin
Doge
AppleByte
214  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Does size really matter? on: November 17, 2014, 10:18:05 PM
I am impressed with this coin and have been accumulating AppleByte since they launched. They keep doing what they said they would do from the beginning, and that is focus on building a real user community.

I think in reality, they probably rank #4, if you take out the coins that are primarily only followed by crypto nerds.

If you do that, it would be:

1. Bitcoin
2. Doge
3. Redd (but as a direct competitor to Doge, I don't know if they will last)
4. AppleByte

If you look at Applebyte's FB & Twitter communities, it is amazing, how they have engaged artists & their fans. And with the coming twitter tip bot and music site allowing musicians to sell their music for AppleBytes, it will only get stronger.
215  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Exchange Better Than Cryptsy? on: November 13, 2014, 01:08:36 PM
I would think Bittrex adds the most coins.
216  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to explain cryptos to the everyday users - an example from AppleByte on: November 13, 2014, 01:06:31 PM
Simple, clear explanation. I wonder if the users understand a peer-to-peer network, but i know of no other way to explain it.
217  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think about Dogecoin? on: November 10, 2014, 10:17:35 PM
dogecoin . crazy dangerous.

big reddit community.
known world wide more then any other alt coin.
top 3 coin in transactions stats. : https://bitinfocharts.com/comparison/transactions-doge.html
top 3 coin in wallets download : https://bitinfocharts.com/top-100-richest-dogecoin-addresses.html

Very true, Doge is here to stay, although you can probably buy it at a little lower price this year.
218  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What alt lets users buy movie tickets, Amazon & Visa cards, coffee, burgers, etc? on: November 10, 2014, 10:15:06 PM
Don't forget the coming site to sell music for AppleBytes!
219  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: While FUD flingers fight in other threads, AppleByte gives six month report on: November 03, 2014, 01:14:21 PM
Congrats! AppleByte is the only coin in my portfolio that has gone up in value consistently this year!
220  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Altcoins for sale on Ebay on: October 29, 2014, 04:58:38 PM
I just noticed several vendors selling altcoins on Ebay, for paypal. Small amounts, I guess to minimize paypal risk.

I did not know you could do that. Ebay allows it now?
