Court orders Binance to release data of Nigerian users to EFCC

A Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered Binance Holdings Limited to provide the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission with comprehensive information on all persons from Nigeria trading on its platform.

The court handed down the order in an ex-parte motion filed by the EFCC demanding information about Nigerians trading on Binance.

Copied from https://punchng.com/court-orders-binance-to-release-data-of-nigerian-users-to-efcc/

This one wey EFCC don enter the matter e mean say, Dem wan really arrest those users, e don dey really clear now say na their intentions be that. But my problem with this issue na besay, them don already succeed disable their fiat from binance so wattin Dem wan still use the name of those p2p traders do. Abi them dey plan to task them? Or place fine for their head? But one thing dey sure, as far as say them dey this desperate to collect those name e just mean say them wan either arrest them like the BDC and then, fine Dem.
202  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Just imagine this thing. on: March 19, 2024, 05:04:59 AM

This made crypto savings different from bank saving.. Immediately you lost your seed phrase, then you lost all the savings in the wallet. That is why you should always try to save it in a mail you know off hand. This protect your savings as you can't easily forget it unless such person has an issue relating to loss of memory.

Bro in as much as say if your seed phrase and you no get access to you device e don go, and you no go fit recover your money back, e no dey advisable to save our seed phrase for mail. If you read how to secure your seed phrase, you go see say, that method of storage na very dangerous one , and if hacker paraventure enter your mail, e mean say, all your money don go. Because them no go leave even small unit for you Grin. If you wan save very large amount of asset, it is recommended that you buy a hardware wallet, but if you just like to save small asset for the main time, then use a non-custodial wallet, either mobile or desktop version.
203  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: The bad habit of business in Nigeria on: March 19, 2024, 04:51:34 AM

204  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: How to solve network issues for men and airtel on: March 19, 2024, 04:41:58 AM

When I see statistics of the affected country by this network issue, e come show say Niger been no even too dey affected, the country with the highest network issues na ivory coast. If to say na we dey their shoes, e for really bad pass like this, because no wey to access the internet completely.

206  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Beyond crypto, we are being scammed by scammers. on: March 18, 2024, 10:16:35 PM
~snip~
Later, I tried to contact the company about the matter, but the result was not as expected. I am not sure, yet I fully believe that someone from that company scammed me. Otherwise, who other than them will know my personal confidential information, which I have given to that organization through KYC?

I already wrote to you that you should report the case to the police, especially if you suspect that the fraud came from a company that you believed to be legitimate. It is possible that someone from that company stole your personal data and used it for this scam, or that the whole company was actually just a cover for collecting personal data that they then used for their dirty business.

Oftentimes they just select random personal information an give it a shot if the person is going to fall for it. I've had an experience similar to this not twice, but all the time they tried using new formats, I was just smart enough to know that it's a scammer behind the phone call. They've tried using the personality of a banker claiming that if I don't send them my otp, my account would be blocked forever, come on how can I fall for this when we were strictly advised by the bank not to share any useful information to anyone other than physical contact with the bank itself.

Op sorry for the loss, but I'll also like to advise you that you avoid filling some forms like survey that requires your personal information like full name, phone number, resident address etc online. Most of those platforms are fake, and they sell your data to those fraudster to use in convincing you, by giving you a brief description of who you are. They say a wise man cannot be cheated twice, so with this experience, I believe you won't give out those personal and useful information no matter how convincing the person might sound.
207  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Patience is power on: March 18, 2024, 10:00:53 PM
If I'm being asked the reason why I love this forum? It's because of its resourceful nature. If you come to this forum with your problem related to crypto you'll definitely find someone who can break everything down for you to comprehend properly, and that is why we should ask questions when we don't understand some certain things instead of concluding and giving up. Holding has always been my thing, since I joined this Bitcoin forum and started accumulating. I prefer to borrow than using from my Bitcoin I have accumulated.
208  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: HELP! Can’t someone decode and confirm this website pls. on: March 18, 2024, 09:49:24 PM
Indeed we should be careful with the kind of things we see online related to cryptocurrency. There are several scam out there right now claiming to be a reputable platform, only for you to find out that they are all scams. This period of the halving and bull, we'll find more scam activities than other times, so we ought to be careful with what we do. I advise that we stick to what we know and avoid compromising for now. Op you have been advised to stay far from that project, due to the fact that it doesn't have good reviews yet from reputable reviewers, so there is a high tendency that, that might be a scam.
209  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nor be Your Data Finish, Na Underwater internet cable cut cause am on: March 18, 2024, 09:35:51 PM
Now we go back to the question, say if we nor get internet for many weeks, wetin be your other strategies to access the internet and send Bitcoin in case of P2P or from your exchange wallet to your soft wallet?

https://twitter.com/benliquidkenya/status/1768254440300069172?t=mSkxwMVfIQiqLUNxniCQDw&s=19

The few days wey I experienced bad network for we country I been still get access to run my p2p transactions because the bad network been no totally affect all the telecommunication networks like Airtel, I been still dey run my transactions smoothly because I swapped my sim since Mtn and Glo network was down. If to say I not get other alternatives I no really know how I for do even with the posting cause using mtn to access the Internet wasn't working that day too even doing bank transactions was also affected cause mobile banking apps was not accessible as people were totally stranded.

Op, abeg if you get other method wey we fit take bypass this kind of situation especially the p2p transactions in this type of situation feel free to notify us because this thing fit happen again in a bigger way we don't expect this one na warning sign.

Yeah, when this bad network issue been dey disturb well well for all network, Airtel been still dey manageable. I for I dey na only Airtel been dey work well, and I thank God say I get Airtel sim, if not I for no fit do anything. Because of this network issue, some persons at first come dey put the blame for opay head say na Dem naim no get network, untill e come dey clear say na the sim Dem na get the issue. With that bad network, I been still get access to somethings like transfer and using P2P.  Anyway Sha the network issue don better pass before and now you fit get good access to the internet only the first day wey e start.
210  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Is meme risk worth the reward? on: March 18, 2024, 08:40:58 PM
I don't do memecoins as a result of my lack of interest I don't take them serious although it's been told by those of interest that it gives raoid profit but something I know  about such league of coins is that they burn investors incomparable to the profits it's talk about. If you must invest in altcoins why not go after those that have been in the market for long time order than some rug pull memecoin projects that are flooding into the market due to the bullrun to scavenge money into developers pocket.

Same for me, I don't like diversifying my funds to altcoins, not to talk of meme coins. Coins that where Inspired by jokes and memes. Most of the memecoins out there are just shitcoins, they only last for a short period of time, while some don't even make good pump before they crash back. I have read two meme coin white paper were the developers stated it clearly that the project they made shouldn't be taken serious as it is a test project. Meme coins are easy to create unlike other coins, and because of that, we have lots of inexperienced developers who just created a coin and try as much as possible to get the coin listed on exchange but due to poor mentainance, the coin just crash.

I'm not saying all meme coins are like that. If you find the right memecoin even before it was listed in an exchange, you'll gain enough profit from it, but seeing those kinds of coins are rear.
211  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Our government too are part of the Bitcoin Investors but they acts uninterested. on: March 18, 2024, 08:27:27 PM
Op what you say is actually possible but since you don't have any proof to your point, we just assume they are not using cryptocurrency. For Nigeria here, we don hear of many story about politician wey Dem catch with bag of money, or Dem see money for em house. Just like the case of our former CBN governor, Mr Emefiele wey Dem catch am say e thief $6 million, though rumor say dem still see some money for em house. All those people wey dey thief, them em dey like use old school, because when once e from their bank take enter wallet Dem go still catch them, except say na local p2p wey Dem use, and that one sef go first start from fiat for house.

Irrespective of the fact say Bitcoin dey anonymous, them go fit still investigate you until Dem go catch you. The Blockchain dey very transparent so, anybody with just dey watch your account and if you send coin go any public business address, them go fit investigate go the business office come request for receipt name  or use their cctv to check who come collect the package. Things like this dey happen so no doubt.
212  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Local crypto exchanges go fit survive for Nigeria? on: March 18, 2024, 04:17:05 PM
Well for me this just the truth as I may concur to this, one handling exchange should be able to pay to avoid shoot bird mama fly. Just like fiat bank if you don't have what it takes don't think of opening bank because that reserve to CBN give them assurance they can have a base should anything occur to your customer.

Ehen na, when we dey talk about money matter and place to put our money, you must first guarantee us say you no go fall our hand when breeze blow. Na why you must pass through all those verification stage before you go fit get bank, or exchange.  But that of exchange no be just like bank, if you wan open exchange you supposed stand your ground well, to invest enough in cyber security and hire one of the best of developers to not only develop but to even they run mentainance on a reg. E get one hack wey be happen for ledger coinconnect, they say one of the lesson wey them learn na besay, them no suppose dey rely on old security, that is, them supposed dey update their security on a stead.
213  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can governments crack down on crypto? on: March 18, 2024, 04:05:55 PM
Have you heard China banned cryptocurrency multiple times? Have you heard SEC decline the legitimacy of Bitcoin?
For China, just like with other anti–crypto countries, it's a struggle to suppress the activities of cryptocurrencies and that's why they repeatedly carry it out. They ban and reban, ban again and then forgot they had banned it before only to ban it again. It's a funny circle. Nigeria is also another case. Notably, the government can only ban crypto activities but not cryptocurrencies. It's almost an impossible task and that's why Bitcoin continues to thrive despite government hate of it.

This is why we consider Satoshi to be a very smart person. His actions and code used in making Bitcoin network was a wise one, the fact that it is not being controlled by any central authority is what makes it immune to governments threats and their deeds to to ban Bitcoin/ cryptocurrency. However I still believe that some day, they'll come to realization that Bitcoin and cryptocurrency is a beautiful inventory. The case of Nigeria, Nigeria has never really ban cryptocurrency, they only restricted the citizens to buy crypto using bank payments.
214  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: The causes of hunger in Nigeria on: March 18, 2024, 06:17:38 AM
Op is noted to be a beginner and may not know it all in the moments of his begining. I think those words of you to him was too harsh for a beginner to bear. You know something when you're being called to order on a high tension manner, you'd probably get lost of your potentials which could lead to depressions here one of such a beginner would feels disappointed of himself.
The Op just clocked a Jnr member that's to say he's still a beginner equal to a newbie.

Baba, some of this beginners them dey look person les Les, imagine wattin I tell, now say make e lock this thread, yet the thread still dey open, if I report now, them go say I do bad. Shabi you dey see am. Another thing wey pain me na be say, them be two wey do this same thing, with just small time difference, so tell my why I no go vex. Them create multiple thread, and the worst thing na besay, all the thread na off topic/ spam post. This no be the first time I dey tell people to lock thread politely, but after a while e come be like say dem dey look person les Les, if I beg Dem Dem go still leave the spam post open. Omor na something dey make man vex, so no think say, I just wake up one morning come dey vex anyhow.

Na for this local board I take get more than 70% of the merit wey I get now, and that na because the board been dey full with quality and inspirational post, wey dey drag other forum users to even come follow us they yarn, men like JJG. So if the local board be like this how them the new ones wan take get am clear. Them say the way you arrange your bed na so you go take sleep put, but when you scatter things for yourself how you wan take make am.
215  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can governments crack down on crypto? on: March 17, 2024, 08:53:16 PM
I would like to know how this action will affect the liquidity of the crypto market in Nigeria? Will people still be able to trade crypto normally with acceptable slippage?

The fact that 3 exchanges where asked to stop NGN fiat p2p doesn't necessarily mean that crypto p2p has ended in Nigeria, in fact this action is only creating more traffic in other exchange whole still accepts NGN fait for p2p transactions . So definitely all those other exchanges will start having more customers within this short period of time. And currently they are contemplating on how to better the situation rather than making it worse than this. So in no time everything will become normal and running.
216  Local / Off-topic (Naija) / Re: The bad habit of business in Nigeria on: March 17, 2024, 08:27:04 PM
Baba I just talk my mind and I no mean to upset anybody, I no come know why owner won kill me put for just true wey I talk, everybody already know how people wey Dey do business for Nigeria Dey behave, each time wey dollar rise then say their food price don go up meanwhile no be dollar then Dey spend to produce, everything  but then Dey kill us with high price E no go well at all.
Na person wey understand waiting I mean go comment for this my topic.
I make mistake for my post because of network wahala wey Dey everywhere and I don tell moderator to delete one of the posts wey error Dey.
If waiting I talk na lie come and tell me make I follow you talk again and ask you one or two question.

E be like say all the things wey I talk no one enter your ear. A say this forum na mainly for Bitcoin discussion, but most time for local board here we dey deviate small dey talk about other things. But you as a newbie e no good make you start to dey make off topic posts because e go reduce your account reputation.

Then to the main fact. You no just dey share your thoughts or talk true. Since you no like am the easy way, make I tell you plainly so that e no ho be like say I just dey carry talk, like this na spam you dey spam, because we don see this kind of thread more than twice for this local since wey dollar start to increase anyhow. So you making another of that same kind of post, na spam you dey spam, and you fit chop tag because of that one.

The best thing to do now na to just lock this your thread, if you look your bottom left you go see lock topic, use am lock your thread before person knack you spammers tag.

218  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Quickest way to earn merit? on: March 17, 2024, 06:51:16 AM
Many people have asked this question before and answers have been given to them and most it is always coming from newbies. Op there is no big deal on that issue and all you have to know is that you are here to learn bitcoin if you have not known it before so your have to first of all focus on that first before any other things. Then you should also know that there two things you have to know here. First you are to learn bitcoin by making research and asking questions here in the forum and also in Google Search Engine. Then the second one is you are to teach or educate others when you have learned.

So that others will also benefit from you as you benefits from other. These are the two major things in the forum and what you need (merit) will come on it own.

This is one of the best comments I've read so far in this thread. The first is to gain the knowledge, it doesn't matter where you get it from, like I use to read from this forum and if I come across any word that is not in my vocabulary, I make use of the goggle search and I get clearance of the message the person was passing, that how I grow my knowledge to this point. Even until now, if I come across any new word, I make use of my search just to make sure I'm not missing out any piece of knowledge, though it's not possible but I'm trying my best. After which you have the knowledge when you start making quality post, the merits will definitely start coming.
219  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I need honest advise concerning this. on: March 17, 2024, 06:38:14 AM
its not always merit that is needed for you to grow in the community, making a good post, and topics are way to start, once those things are inline you don't need to worry about getting merits it will come naturally without you knowing, also learning things with others post simply adding up to you're growth, new members will immediately want to rank up so fast gathering merit as fast as they could, some people just want to learn because information in the forum are everywhere.
Exactly. Merits are not the sole basis of growth. You can grow in the forum if you consistently learn new insights and valuable ideas through reading and participating in such discussions. You grow in the forum if you have learned from the experiences of other forum members. And lastly, you grow in the forum when you are now able to create constructive and quality posts that you can already leave an impact to other members. If you are seeing these things in yourself, believe me those merits will eventually follow. Don’t chase for merits, but look forward for additional knowledge in the forum, that way merits will be raiser for you to achieve.
[/quote]

Indeed knowledge is the most vital part of our growth here in this forum, without the knowledge in the first place there is no growth in any form here in this forum. Then after which you have acquired the knowledge, the next thing is to start making good quality posts, and that alone would prove that you have acquired enough knowledge, though writing is a skill and we must know how to express ourselves to have a good communication and share our thoughts with others. And not every quality post gets merited, but when you have more quality posts, you stand a chance of getting at least 1/3 percentage of your posts merited.
220  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / Re: The causes of hunger in Nigeria on: March 17, 2024, 06:07:47 AM
Bro no too para much, the problem here is that people don't just want to learn so the keep defaulting, if you advice them, they will be ready to take corrections and correct themselves, how will a reputable member of this forum comment on this kind of post, some newbies are very funny, if learner continue like this how will such learner get merited by post reviewers.
If they don't get merit, the will get tired not knowing that they are the cause of there problem, why can't a newbie write an educative something must they come up with already existing thread, there are many things to write in respect to Bitcoin, the community is growing today because some members here decided to take it upon themselves to research on things relating to Bitcoin and come here to share with us, what is here to learn from this over stressed thread.

Bro this matter don too vex me, na something dey make person dey change, when I start to advise people to luck thread some of them been dey follow up, but after some while I come see say some of this men no dey hear word, after if don tell them say the topic and the thread na spamming them go still leave am like that without locking the thread. I don come one in one contact with this forum user wey tell me say, na because of the post spamming and useless off topic wey Dem dey post naim make am no dey near local board again. Aside am, we know of top men Dem wey no dey near here because of the behaviors of newbies, na so some of them go enter politics and society board dey go talk rubbish, all those ones still dey ground while even for here we go come dey see rubbish for our own house.

Even if say we get plans to become the No1 most active local board, no be with post spamming we go take do am oo, if we use that method Dem go just see us as cheaters/ dishonest persons, and that go just bring bad name join wattin those newbies dey go do for other boards.

Newbies make una try learn from people wey get plenty merit, up to Sr member because by that rank you don get enough forum experience, except say una want am the hard wey to use to learn😡
