201  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [PPS 2% fee] NiceHash.com pool - higher profits than direct mining BTC! on: March 23, 2015, 03:37:22 PM
...
I will repeat this again. You said my numbers were rubbish.  Please explain your statement accusing me of stating rubbish or retract it and apologize.  The numbers I quoted are from my experience, if you want to refute them, then by all means do so and please provide proof and explain to me (and all of us), otherwise. I ask that you refrain from insulting me and keep these random insults to yourself.  I am quite honestly shocked that someone of your supposed stature in this community would go around making such a statement and then refuse to explain what you mean.
Above 95% kano.is, btcguild, BAN, p2pool, slush, bitminter
Not sure about eligius, discus fish or antpool but they would be above 90% at least.

Most pools I know of charge less than 5% fees and thus most of those pools are above 95%

And here I'll make it easy for you to actually look at some reliable statistics, rather than random ignorant hearsay.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=77000.0
I'll leave it to you to try work out how to click on the links on that page and work out how to make sense of it, if you can.

I very clearly stated that I was talking about the actual payout as a percentage of the predicted payout per THs. I have no idea what you are talking about, but it clearly has nothing to do with what I stated. As an example, here is a screen I just took from Slush:

This month Slush has paid 87% of predicted payout minus 2% fees. My math says that is 85%. You are free to believe 87=100 I guess, but please stop making bullshit accusations against me when you are clearly and provably wrong. I am not sure exactly what your agenda is here, apparently you have some beef with Nicehash and just ended up randomly attacking me because I posted here.

Edit to add: Here is my original post answering a question about what is a good price point to choose for renting out your rigs on Nicehash, and I was kind enough to share my thoughts on the matter based on direct experience.

Where would you go to get a good price to input on the password line? I have an S5 that I want to try it out on. The C1's never worked with it at all unless I was mining %100 on Westhash.com.

I set it maybe 5-10% lower than the Coinwarz predicted return for 1 TH. The best pools average maybe 95% of predicted payout (most are usually more like 85-90% after you factor in the fee), so that is the price line you want to be above.

My post is actually spot on. Antpool has been averaging ~95% of predicted payout over a month period, and that is the best pool that I am personally aware of right now. Again, if you are aware of a pool that is paying higher than that, then please enlighten all of us so we can go there as well.

kano.is is at 105.21% (http://kano.is/index.php?k=blocks) over expected results over the last 195 blocks since the inception of the pool with a .9% fee.  This is the pool Kano runs.

As a side note, you sound like a complete jerk, I hope you're nicer in conversations in the real world.

I have a question maybe you guys can answer.  I'm thinking of setting up a 300 - 400 thash farm, what do people use to deliver power to that many systems?  I mean I have no real problem using 80 of the IBM 2880W PSUs if I have to, I was just wondering if there's a more efficient answer out there.

Wow, this is a real serious project. If you do not understand anything about electricity, or, understand what I have highlighted below please seek professional help as this is not an amateur undertaking.

I am assuming a lot here, so here is my two pence worth, if it sounds a little condescending, my apologies. Your household supply is not designed to carry this load, this is a fairly serious amount of electricity and it is highly unlikely your power provider would upgrade your incoming supply.

I am also assuming your incoming power supply is 230V line to neutral, and that you will be drawing the full current on your 80 power supplies: -

1. You will be using an industrial building for this venture; I hope and not a garage?
2. You will need a three phase balanced power supply to cope with the 348 amps current draw. If your pF goes lower than the manufacturer's power supply stated 0.97 pF then you will end up by paying more for your electricity. Power factor correction capacitors are expensive but would pay for themselves in time. Industrial power rates will also work out cheaper than any household power rates anyway.
3. You will need a large distribution board with a main breaker and lots of MCCB's to split the load into safer current levels along with conduit, cabling buttress boxes and power sockets.
4. I hope you are in a really cold climate, as this current draw is like having over 140 - 2 kW heaters running all of the time.
5. You will need to make sure there is adequate separation between each unit to avoid overheating nearby units and steel racking to house them on.
6. You will need large extractor fans to remove the heat from the building and fans to draw cool air into the building.
7. You will require a huge A/C cooling unit if you are in a warm climate and that is seriously expensive to run.
8. You will need an industrial fire suppression system  - remember the recent Thailand incident. You could possibly have someone monitoring the system 24/7, at a pinch with industrial fire extinguishers, but human error is something you need to factor out.

Good luck.

Thank you Thub, I appreciate the breakdown and I've thought of all of those things.  In a previous life in the Navy I worked as an electrician for a couple of years while waiting for my C school to open up, so dealing with the wiring and distribution isn't a big deal, and I've already got a local contractor lined up once I finalize the building I'm going into.

From everything I've looked at however, it seems like individual PSUs are going to be what I wind up running with for a project of this size.  Industrial DC voltage systems don't seem to be either the right voltage or are too expensive to be worthwhile compared to using the 2880W IBM PSUs.

Where I'm putting this, electrical cost isn't really an issue, but I'm not planning on active cooling, just going with more space (cheap) and big ass fans (also cheap).  I may wind up underclocking during the couple of hot summer months (july/august) depending on operating temperatures and the space.

Fire is the biggest concern I have, I've designed a simple relay system to cut power to all the systems if a fire alarm goes off, but an installation of this size can't afford to staff it 24/7.  I'll have to rely on environmental monitoring, being able to cut the power and the local fire department during off hours.

I can't go through all 600+ pages. Any news regarding spondoolies next gen?

Nope.  They haven't announced anything.

Considering problems with the new fabs, I doubt we see any next gen stuff before Q4 this year.

Are they still having problems with both 14nm and 16nm?

There were some announcements last quarter stating production issues at the 16nm fabs would push back mass production to q3/q4.  Figure if the manufacturers can't even get chips until late q3/q4, we won't see boxes available until the end of the year.

Ok, thanks

http://wccftech.com/tsmcs-16nm-finfet-faces-delays-qualcomm-jumps-ship-samsung/

TSMCS won't see mass production until 2016, qualcom and others have such large contracts with Samsung that getting chips out of them is going to be hard in 2015.  I don't think we see next gen in any appreciable quantity until last this year or early next year.  The second half of this year is going to be a weird one for bitcoin mining.

How does everyone feel about the dwindling hash rate?

I feel like I get more BTC when we hit a block.

It all balances out to be equal in the end.

@bond007taz

We are very sorry for your inconvenience.

Staffs are working 24/7 to clear these stuck orders while under the heavy Ddos attack.  The attack has nothing to do with the actual transactional data. Your order will be manually confirmed in order it was received, However, please be patient with us for a bit longer.  We do expect this attack to last for a few more days.

It may show as Expired or Unpaid.  If it is showing PAID on the blockchain.info  you are GOOD TO GO!!  Just shoot us an email to info@bitmaintech.com with your ORDER ID & Payment Address and you will be contacted in the next few days.  (Also it is a late night weekend in Beijing at the moment)

The miner shipping will start as schedule on March 30th or sooner.

Currently, the site is back up & running again just now!  Cheesy

I am concerned that bitmain has my coin but havent responded with a confirmation that I paid (even though my payment shows it went in 5 minutes after I ordered it) - does this mean they are going to take my money and not give me the product I ordered?

I keep sending emails to  info@bitmaintech.com and they said they need engineers to fix the issue but they haven't said my order is confirmed

if you have proof of order number and the tx id you should be okay.
Bitmaintech is close to perfect on sending paid for gear to the buyer that paid for it.

It has been over a week for me and no update yet. Still shows that I have not paid. With their announcement that they are almost sold out of this batch, I am worried that they may sell more then they have with all of the missing details on orders. BITMAIN how much longer until records are updated? Thank you.

Same here, I placed another order yesterday and same thing is still happening.

Support has confirmed payment in email for my first order, but I'd feel better seeing it in my account page updated.

Ohh, came to check about the webpage and we hit a block also Smiley

About time. These 40hr stints kill the earnings lately.

Ps. Still can't access the website.

Last 25 Blocks   91.26%   91.06%   0.3469   109.81%

91% over the last 25 blocks, yeah, my earnings.   Roll Eyes

Stupid question probably, but can an SP20 be run off 2  or 3 power connections? One per Hashing Board?

Trying to see if I can run 2 downclocked SP20's off one EVGA 1300W G2, but it only has 6x 6pin power cables.

I run 6 of my SP20s off of 3 EVGA 1300 G2s, use the 2 in 1 connector that came with it for loops 1 and 3 on both SP20s and the normal connectors for loops 2 and 4

clock loops 1 and 3 slightly lower and you'll have no problems at all.

Here are my settings:
miner-FL1451099043# cat mg_custom_mode_day
FAN:0 VS0:605 VS1:615 VS2:605 VS3:615 VMAX:620 AC0:120 AC1:140 AC2:120 AC3:140 DC_AMP:170
miner-FL1451099043# cat mg_custom_mode_night
FAN:0 VS0:640 VS1:660 VS2:640 VS3:660 VMAX:665 AC0:160 AC1:180 AC2:160 AC3:180 DC_AMP:170

I get around 900 - 990GH/sec during the day off of 510 watts at the wall and 1150 to 1250GH/s depending on the machine at 620 watts at the wall at night.

Wink

Seriously? I have lost all respect for bitmain as a company. Is it being run by a bunch of guys in high school? No, really I want to know. Go to a local business school and ask one of the professors if emoticons are a proper form of communication for a business. If you want to emoticon text messages to your friends until you wear out your phone, go ahead no one cares what you and your friends do. This is a business. Can you please start treating it like one?

Just ordered 6 antminer s5s to add to the pool, its no canaan or lightsword granted ... Smiley

Just wondering did you order new or used?

New from the March 30 batch.  I'm really wary of buying used mining equipment.

"Stratum+tcp://" what does having this at the beginning of the server address do?

It makes sure we're using TCP to connect via cgminer, my firewall won't allow UDP packets.
218  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Unofficial Spondoolies SP20 thread on: March 05, 2015, 06:39:18 PM

Is extranonce=2 because of nicehash/westhash?

Yep!
219  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Unofficial Spondoolies SP20 thread on: March 05, 2015, 05:09:50 PM
Did anyone ever try to underclock the SP20. Im starting to look at that for the winter.

What is the lower volt that the chip can take ?

Is 1th the minimum or we could go below and get less heat?

You can go below that, due to heat, noise and electricity costs during the day I underclock mine to around 900GH/s

Note:  I underclock 5 of my 8 SP20s using these exact settings and the hash rates vary wildly by box, the low is 890GH/sec and the high is 980GH/sec

Here are the settings I use:

Its pulling 505 watts at the wall with these settings (using a kill-a-watt) and there's very little heat.
220  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Unofficial Spondoolies SP20 thread on: March 05, 2015, 04:40:45 PM
Thanks Digitalmocking,

I'll do some digging to understand the 'p='  parameter.  I'm sure it's been covered on these boards Smiley

Philip explained it, my settings are so high that I'll only switch over if there's some kind of really high payout available.
