201  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcointalk Account price estimator on: August 13, 2015, 12:20:30 PM
Great work! I just tested with my account and it found my account's estimated value in less than 15 seconds. Smiley I do have one suggestion regarding the ads. The top banner ad looks a little out of place, maybe if you centered it that would make it look a little better?
Huh. It looks centered to me. What browser are you using?

But overall great work, the only other thing maybe worth tweaking a little bit is the formula for finding the account value, it estimated that my account is worth ~ 0.12 BTC. I'd estimate that it would actually be worth 0.07 BTC or so at most, since Senior Member accounts seem to be selling for fairly cheap here now ( < 0.2 BTC).
I have noticed the decreasing prices and I will soon adjust the estimation accordingly.
I was using IE then (I have ad blocker on Chrome which was why I had to use IE  Tongue) but I just tested it on Chrome and it does look centered to me now. Must just be a bug with IE.

But wow, the queue has sure grown from when I tested it out yesterday - I'm number 461 in line right now. It could just be bots clogging up the site, because it's hard to believe that there are 460 other people waiting on valid requests right now.
202  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcointalk Account price estimator on: August 13, 2015, 02:26:37 AM
My website is up and usable at http://www.bctalkaccountpricer.info/

The site is very simple, just enter the User ID and it will do everything for you. There is a queuing system in place to prevent the server from being IP banned by Bitcointalk. The site will let you know where you are in the queue and will automatically retrieve all of the information when it is your turn.

There are a few notable differences between the website version and the version on github:
  • Ads - The website has ads to help me support the site. I did not include the code for the ads in the github
  • IP wait times - The website will require you to wait 5 minutes before it will let you submit another request. This is to prevent DoS attacks on the site. The Github contains the code for this, but it is commented out.
  • Account bot password - In order for the website to work, an account is required to view the trust of members. The Github has a placeholder password THAT DOES NOT WORK while the website has the correct password.
If you have issue with any of the above, please let me know and see if we can fix the problem.

If you find any bugs in the website, please contact me here or using the issue tracker on Github.

203  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Is it possible to estimate the kwh / hash ratio? on: August 12, 2015, 06:56:35 PM
Electricity cost per hash (at the current difficulty) would be an interesting metric to estimate - obviously this varies depending on the efficiency of the mining farm, but is there a rough way to get an estimate, or a range bound?
Do you mean you're interested in finding the electricity cost/use per block found? Because electricity cost per hash doesn't change with difficulty, that only changes with the gear used to mine on. An Antminer S5 will always hash at 1155GH/s while using ~ 590W, so it's "hash efficiency" will always be 1.96GH/s per watt. However as the difficulty increases, it'll cost more on average to find a block with an S5, because it'll take longer to do so.
204  Economy / Lending / Re: [Need Loan] Collatoral with game accounts on: August 12, 2015, 06:50:45 PM

You can change the emails of those.

Escrow can hold it and change the emails get the full control of the accounts before escrow gives the loan to me. That way it won't be changed.

I am having trouble selling them but I am requesting much less then they worth. Respectively , I won't part with them for 0.3 bitcoins. Some of them are with me for over 3 years , I would want to give them up for higher amount.

For all the accounts and this account in total (which will be full member with avatar in couple of days) I only require 0.3 btc.
You could still claim that your account was stolen even if the email address associated with them is changed. After all, isn't that what a hacker would do if they did gain access to your account? I doubt you'll be able to get a loan here using those as collateral since these accounts aren't considered valid collateral. You'll need to find a well-known altcoin, or some Bitcointalk accounts instead to use as collateral.
205  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Encrypting Electrum Seed on: August 11, 2015, 08:32:04 PM
That's an idea that could work indeed .
You just gave me the idea to build simply a custom software to encrypt my Electrum seeds , making something Custom and hard to decrypt is better then use something public even if it's strong hacker will know from where to start unlike custom encryption it could make you earn sometime .

good idea Smiley

I guess the veracrypt/PGP solution is a good one too, however this relies on keeping it the cloud which gives a would be hacker a lot of time/opportunity to work at it before you would know about it.
If your seed is encrypted through PGP, then you should be safe even if a hacker has access to the encrypted file. As long as you don't store an unencrypted copy of your PGP private key in cloud storage along with your encrypted seed, you should be safe for years to come because the encryption PGP uses is so strong.
206  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Questions on Encrypt/Decrypt Message on: August 11, 2015, 06:12:15 PM
Oops, sorry about my incorrect answer. I just had a chance to test EcuaMobi's method on my Electrum wallet and it worked just as it should. I originally was using an address as well in the public key area. Thanks for clearing that up EM!
207  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Questions on Encrypt/Decrypt Message on: August 11, 2015, 03:49:22 PM
I just tested it on my copy of Electrum 2.3.2 on Windows and I get the same error as you, so I think it's safe to say that the function is still disabled on 2.3.2.
208  Other / Meta / Re: More Spammers on: August 11, 2015, 02:56:53 PM
Crazy that people do this kind of crap. I've reported a number of them already, my successful report % doesn't seem to be going up though which is weird.
Your percentage will only change when a mod reviews your report and either marks it with a yes or no. It's not instant, but if you reported a bunch of those spam posts in the last 15 minutes or so expect your percentage to change in the next couple of hours as mods review the reports.
209  Economy / Services / Re: (7BITCASINO CAMPAIGN) [CLOSED] Upto 0.14btc + 0.2btc bonus for top 3 each week! on: August 11, 2015, 01:52:34 PM
It's a shame to see this campaign shutting down, was one of the best campaigns on these forums.

vervolioman/master-P, I would like to bring one thing to your attention, it looks like I was overpaid for this last week by quite a bit. By my calculations I should have been paid 0.0328 BTC (41 posts x 0.0008 BTC / post) but instead I was paid 0.05728 BTC. Please let me know what to do with this extra amount, but I can send it back to you if it was sent out in mistake.
Maybe its the weekly bonus they talk about, maybe you shared it with someone or something like that.
It's possible that's the case, but it seems like an odd amount, which was why I'm unsure. I'll wait to see what they say, but I also see that I have a Q beside my name on the spreadsheet, and it looks like that means I was making quality posts.

If someone could quote this message, that would be perfect.
212  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Full Node Survey (Please Help - Takes a Second) on: August 10, 2015, 08:01:50 PM
As for people wanting incentives besides the whole 'strengthens the network' / 'gives you an independent fully verified blockchain + wallet', etc.: since it hasn't been mentioned yet: https://getaddr.bitnodes.io/nodes/incentive/
That is a nice incentive they offer, but the chance you'd be paid $10 for running your node is 1/195 every week, which is fairly low. If the developers wanted to really encourage people to run more stable nodes they could implement something similar to Darkcoin's masternode idea. Basically, to run a masternode the node operator needs a minimum amount of coin in their wallet, and then the node operator will be paid a certain amount of coin per day, depending on how many other masternodes are running at that time. I'm not sure how that all worked out for Darkcoin but it sounds like a decent idea to increase the number of nodes for the network.
213  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Full Node Survey (Please Help - Takes a Second) on: August 10, 2015, 04:32:46 PM
I've run a few nodes on and off during the past couple years. I'm not currently running one right now, mostly because it would cost ~ $5 to $7 per month, and I'm not sure if it would benefit the network that much. Ideally I'd like to run one off of my Raspberry Pi or Odroid C1, but the problem with both of those is finding somewhere to store the blockchain. Plus I've heard that the Pi can't support much more than 8 connections, and it's more of a burden on the network than an aid. My network is fairly slow as well (~2.5 Mbps upload speed) and if I'm not careful to meter whatever I run the node on, it just brings my whole network to a complete crawl. However if I upgrade my internet connection sometime to something with a more reasonable upload speed then I'd definitely take a look at trying to set one up on the Odroid.
214  Other / Meta / Re: Hacked account spreading malware - syahrere on: August 10, 2015, 01:16:31 PM
The forums really need a way to stop this spamming. I've suggested before banning the fastminer links, but others brought up the point that it could be bypassed very easily. I have another idea though, if a user is posting constantly like these users are (every minute or two) why not require them to fill out a quick captcha when they attempt to post? That would only happen if the user has posted something like, 5 posts in less than 5 minutes, and could be implemented similarly to how the "a new post was posted while you were writing your post" page is shown when a user is trying to post. I think that would really cut down on the spam from the Fastminer malware, as each hacked account would only post five posts or so before the captcha comes into effect, and then the bot wouldn't be able to post anymore.
215  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Are bitcoins accepted by Amazon.com? on: August 10, 2015, 01:06:57 PM
If you don't feel like going through Purse.io (I know they had a lot of fraud problems a few months ago, some buyers even had police knocking on their door asking them about the fraud) your other option would be to use Gyft and buy Amazon gift cards. If you go that route, you can get 5% cash back on all purchases (it's normally 3% when paying with bitcoin, but they currently have a 5% promo). I've used them many times before and never had an issue, so I'd highly recommend them.

I think it's worth to note that purse acted when this happened. So far it was only one incident and purse instantly wrote about this. They made a fund funded with 10,000 USD that is used to defend members in the case this happens.

So far only one case happened and this was the one they acted on.

That they acted so fast actually impressed me. Most bitcoin companies would not admit such happening. The rumours would grow on the net and damaging the company. Because they acted so fast they could prevent that and no bad thing happened for them.

I wish that behaviour would be standard for bitcoin companies. But many of them have so enourmous problems with communication that it is not funny anymore.
I didn't realize that this only happened once before (I thought I read about it happening at least a few times on /r/Bitcoin) but yeah it's really good of them to stand up for the customer in this case and help them financially.

I took another look at Purse.io just a few hours ago and it looks like if you're a total newbie, you can't choose a discount percentage, and have to buy your order directly through Purse for a few percent off. I'm guessing as your account ages and you have more transactions under your belt, then they'd start to loosen rules and allow you to post your listing and listing price, to choose a percentage off.
216  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Beginner here on: August 10, 2015, 02:46:32 AM
Signature campaigns are the way to go if you want to make money on this site.

as OP is still a newbie, signature campaign isnt yet advisable if he wants to earn some bitcoins here, maybe offering some service or selling goods is better for now Smiley
If he's on Bitcointalk anyway, there's no real reason to not enroll in a signature campaign. He'll get paid a small amount (probably comparable to that of faucets because he's a newbie) for posting here, and that amount will only grow as his account ranks up as well.
217  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to Select an OCL device in Vanitygen? on: August 10, 2015, 02:44:09 AM
For exactly problems like that i use online vanitygen. I know offline generation is better but harder and more problematic.
Good luck in solving this, maybe video card is not compatibile?
Using an online vanitygen definitely seems risky.. Since it displays the Private key and all..
If the service does it right there's no risk to the user. They can use a method called "split key generation"  where the user generates part of the private key (which they keep a secret), and then the party doing the actual generating of the vanity address generates the other part of the private key. When the two private keys are put together the user receives their vanity address securely, and the party generating the address has no way to access the vanity address.
218  Other / Meta / Re: Access limit for this forum on: August 10, 2015, 12:05:06 AM
The bot i finally could offer for download today is using 1 request per 2 seconds to be fully save, i believe.
Correct, I just took a look through the source code and it does indeed only request a page every two seconds, the code has some comments regarding the access limit on the forum as well:

Quote from: get_activity.php
>Min allowed delay between access for bitcointalk.com is 1 second, but it is set at 2 seconds at line 99 for this script.
219  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [WTS] 3 Senior member accounts on: August 09, 2015, 11:58:56 PM
0.3 BTC per account is a really high price for a Senior account. I've seen quite a few recently going for < 0.2 BTC, but I'd suggest 0.2 as a good starting point if you want to move these accounts.
