201  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Vertcoin - 1 | ASIC - 0 | Lyra2RE | Decentralised | GPU Mineable | Open Source on: October 27, 2016, 12:08:23 AM
When can we expect some serious developments related?

We don't have a time frame right now . We are hoping within 6 months to have something at least started . Things move slow when devs are volunteers. Poramin ( vertcoins creator ) is going to jump in on this one . Hopefully when we get EVM implemented it'll bring new blood into the mix .

Are there any ideas how to make community stronger, and what can be done to speed thing up?
Thank you for what you are doing!

More devs . I recruited a few , but they haven't been around for a couple months , so I assume they aren't up to the challenge or lack the experience.Y you could also donate to the dev fund

Will the Vertcoin EVM offer superior advantages over those developed for Counterparty ?

Ethereum's forked a few times to counteract the attacks its been under through its smart contracts. What if vertcoin gets attacked the same way? Won't that give it disadvantages over counterparty rather than advantages?

Is there anything vertcoin will implement in its EVM to stop it getting attacked through it?

Yes
204  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [NEW] KopiemTu 3.0 - first NVIDIA USB linux distro is back :) on: October 24, 2016, 02:38:37 AM
Hi!
I got 26 MH in ETH using kopiemtu 2.0 mod #4 @ 90W tdp (the lowest TDP possible on the 1070)

haven't had the time to try again to make work kopiemtu 3.0 , will do this weekend.

i used PPA but not all of the oh_pi (thanks for the data btw  Grin ).

jk_14 about automatic restart, i dunno if that is a good idea, i have completely disabled monitor on kopiemtu 2.0 mod #4 because does not work, and i don't have a freeze, or miner unload in weeks!, the only weird thing i got is that some of the cards forget the TPL setting and start using more power, reconfiguring TPL again (nvidia-smi -pl xx) solves it on the fly   Grin but still weird!, and it is always just one of the cards, and it happens after more than a week of operation, but again, more than a week!.

now i remotely reboot the rigs once a week and i have 0 problems.
GTX 1070, love at first sight!, best nvidia cards ever!.

I observed the same process of using more power, so under old distro you can also create that two files:

Code:
root@kopiemtu:~# cat powerlimit.conf
130
root@kopiemtu:~# cat /etc/cron.hourly/powerlimit
#!/bin/sh

DPL=`head -1 /root/powerlimit.conf`

/usr/bin/nvidia-smi -pl $DPL >/dev/null 2>&1

root@kopiemtu:~# chmod 755 /etc/cron.hourly/powerlimit
root@kopiemtu:~#

and that will adjust the power automatically.

I'm not sure if situation with AMD is different now, but I remember how 6x750Ti rig was maintenance-free versus 3x Radeon 7950 rig.
100 days periods without a system restart were common for 750Ti. Fortunately, 1070 is equally good.

I don't know what happened, but mine boots straight to terminal and I can't get the GUI to work .

We will get into that once development starts

What does everyone think of EVM?

Ethereum’s added functionality on the Vertcoin blockchain means that Vertcoin’s EVM could do everything that Ethereum is able to do except it occurs on the Vertcoin blockchain instead. (...) The only differences are Vertcoin specific such as longer block times compared to Ethereum, Vertcoin’s EVM port would allow users to create and deploy decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs), DAPPS, and smart contracts on the Vertcoin blockchain. Porting the EVM would permit Vertcoin to facilitate Ethereum style smart contracts on the Vertcoin blockchain. This is because the smart contracts on Ethereum and Vertcoin would share a common coding language called Solidity. It is this ability to use the exact same coding language for the smart contracts that enables developers who are able to make use of Ethereum to make use of Vertcoin’s EVM too. Of course, from the perspective of a Vertcoin user, this port would be important for the long-term health of Vertcoin

Tbh i don't understand a shit what you are saying, but it sounds pretty good i think.
I think it's a good idea to implement it and im sure others agree too.
Not sure if its difficult or not to implement it, but if it could be done it would be really nice.

Unofficially speaking were are looking to implement this within 6 months . Official announcement soon .
Well really don't want to sound rude or anything, but i kinda expected an official announcement already at this point.
Or maybe i'm just a bit impatient, don't know about you guys. We just need some shilling going on here, some news to get VTC back in the spotlights.

Be patient. The details are being worked out . In the mean time save up for donations, we don't have bitcoins money or ethers "premine" to pay for this . I'll putting in 1 BTC when things get going .

Hi, "ccminer-1.7.6-r6-lyra2re" (LYRA2REv2)  It does not work with new drives nvidia 375.57 in Nvidia GTX 1070, solution?

Hello,  where I can find something about EVM?
Why every dev on silent on main site on the blog...?

What you see is what you get. It's basically making vertcoin run on a platform like ether . The details are still being worked out .

Yes, it's a big undertaking.
Nice.
I don't want it to sound like I expected more BTW lol. I had assumed that this will keep you busy for some time, just asking out of curiosity.
No worries

Hello, recently I started to mine Vert coin with my nvidas 1070, and i can't get more than 35-36 MH/s speed, I read that I should get around 40Mh/s...can anyone help or share some advice?
tnx

That's about what you should be getting . If you over clock it you could get around 40

This how it would affect the size of the Vertcoin blockchain

Nobody likes a huge blockchain on the HDD of the PC

......
something interesting  - https://www.reddit.com/r/litecoin/comments/56qiqt/cost_of_storing_data_on_blockchains/

The sizes in the link talking about costs per mb has to do with the size of the blockchain which is affected by the age of the coin and mostly by block time . Bitcoin is older so obviously it'll have a bigger blockchain and ether has a block time around 15 seconds so more blocks and transactions means bigger blockchain . I think vertcoin and litecoin share the same block time but litecoin is older so it's likely vertcoin has a smaller blockchain

This won't be on the ethereum network . This will be on our own network .

I wonder how many of you know that Vertcoin creator Poramin Insom is coming up with a Zerocash competitor which is going to be launched very soon.

https://news.bitcoin.com/zero-knowledge-zcoin-launching-soon/
http://zcoin.tech/about.html

There is a possibility of zerocoin implementation on vertcoin via sidechains as hinted by him earlier.

No wonder this coin has been under accumulation for so long!

In before polo troll box gets a whiff of this. Wink

Do you have a roadmap of VTC upcoming releases?
Yes, finding developers that develop.

How is that progressing?

Good but slowly

Poramin did create vertcoin, but he also created a few other coins that had huge premines and we're deemed scams . He also was caught doing so pretty shady stuff . He was more or less asked to leave vertcoin or pushed out

Actually, you have to thank the chinese for Vertcoin's survival.

Why the chinese? Which exchange is a chinese one?
jubi.com
We can that thank jubi for a couple of big pumps, buy lately most of the volume has been from Poloniex
Yes, but the pumps have been weak compared to jubi. Also, there was a long period of time when the trade volume of Vert was practically non-existent everywhere except jubi, so the chinese definitely saved Vert from oblivion. Do you know what the chinese call Vertcoin?

I'm more worried about the Japanese. Same algo as vertcoin but it's worth a little more with almost double out net hash .
