Ah i see..
hmm,, maybe people here still in vacation Cheesy sadly i can't do with some programming or security development.

Anyway if you looking for an investor, at least you need a source code or a local website which can an investor review it and make an investor join and believe you to invest in your project, and... so role of escrow is need on this part.

Ok so I know this is going to make me sound like a dumb ass, and complete newb... but here it goes lol.  In your opinion, what should be my course of action to get this whole project set? Like a step by step, because I have absolutely no idea what to do/what to focus on first to get this rolling... all I have going for me is a couple bitcoins to invest and this idea I'm trying to make into a reality.

Because I don't know whether I should focus to try to hire a dev first to make a rough draft version of a source code for me that I would fund myself... or whether I should focus right now on getting a good escrow to go through, before I get into the aspect of hiring someone to do coding.

Nice spirit, i can do with graphic design, you should make a group chat for your team, PM me if you need me.

Once we have a select team, I'd like to have everybody's contacts so we can atleast email each other whenever possible or maybe have a group chat on groupme or whatsapp... We'll figure that out once we get a group together though. I'll keep in touch once everything is lined up Grin thanks for your interest.

My suggestion is use slack(have android app too) for chat group, especially with the discussion about project development, because the features is useful for a team who develop some project.

Ok cool, thanks for the suggestion... Hopefully a web developer will be interested sometime soon so we can get the ball rolling on this. Once I get home from work I'll try to find an escrow for the handling of funds. If you know of any good developers, PM them for me. If not I guess I guess we'll just wait until more people get interested.

Here's an escrow list: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=855778.0
there are some people here which have a skill with coding and have a good developer. i personally can do with design graphic only.

Did you mean some escrow's on there are developers as well as being a trustful escrow? Or do you mean that some of the people that posted on that thread are good developers?  I can't tell who are and who aren't good developers, except for good escrows to go through.

On your previous post above, you looking for an escrow right? so, i give you list of trusted escrow. AFAIK escrow is just handling of funds only(or maybe if the escrow good in developing, you can discuss it), the funds of investor and/or the funds of the commission(?).

Oh ok, I guess I misread what you were trying to say... I have a good escrow in mind, but am not sure what to do about getting a developer for the site.  Engine-It hasn't replied to my last PM which I guess means that he wasn't interested in the project at hand, so for everyone else out there who is interested in the project that wants to develop the page (including hot wallets for btc/major alt coins, DDoS protection/security features, et cetera) please contact me on this thread or PM me please.  Also still looking for more investors... I'm trying to decide between a minimum of ~ a BTC .5-1 minimum to join the group.

If you'd like to "gamble" with me, I'm trying to start up a new website that is based on a new sports gambling game I had been introduced to by my friends at a local bar I frequent. The website will be based on gambling crypto currencies, and is a completely new, provably fair way to bet on sport matches of any kind going on in the world.

If this interests you, I posted a thread about it in project development where I'm looking for investors, website developers, and graphic designers.  All investments will be funded in a pool, where a highly trusted escrow will keep and distribute the funds to developers, and later on, to early investors of the website (and website maintenance).

You can check out the thread here:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1181358.0

You can message me on the thread or PM me if you'd like.  Once we have all the necessary funds ready to start developing the site, we'll stop taking investors.  I'm currently talking to a web developer and graphic designer about estimates into creating the website.  Hopefully we'll come to an agreement, but if not I'll hopefully find someone who can do a good job for the right price  Smiley

Dear Harpua,

We can help you to develop this project including the server part, mobile apps and cryptocurrencies integration.
Please contact me if you are interested.

Check your inbox, sent PM.

I am interested in joining your team also, I am interested in investing few btc as time goes by and I can see the project clearly.

No problem, I completely understand. Once I figure out how much needs to go into making the site and have it functional; I'll let you know what the initial investment needs to be. Still waiting for a couple more investors so we can really go all out on the site and make it easy to understand and fun to play for everyone. We will decide how funds for the site will be used and how much/who gets paid what at the beginning and in the future. Hopefully by the time we get a solid team put together, we can use a group chat we all can use to easily communicate rather than communicate via this forum.

Looking forward to working with you.

209  Bitcoin / Project Development / seeking web developers/investors/graphic designers for new btc gambling game on: September 15, 2015, 05:15:21 PM
Hey guys,

So I made a thread in the newbie section about what to do if I had an idea to make a new type of btc gambling game.  I would like to invest in this idea and would like to have partners go in with me to make this website a success; and I think the best way for everyone to be happy with the results is to have an escrow to help stock funds and give developers their share of money (at a price we all agree on) and investors their share of money (again, what we agree on).  So here's the general concept, without going into much detail because I don't want anyone to steal the idea and create it for themselves... I would like to be the first to put this out.

It would be a gambling site that has a list of every sport out there (football, american football, baseball, nascar, etc. etc.) and have more than a handful of people bet into a pool for a particular game in a particular sport; whatever game they choose.  Once the limit hits for the amount of people required to play (and before the game starts, obviously); there will be a provably fair drawing for each "slot" each gambler holds.  Each "slot" that gambler gets, in it's self, will predict a certain outcome of the game and needs to be that prediction for the gambler to win.  This drawing must be made proven that it's completely random to people wanting to gamble on the site, I want to ensure there is no scheme that takes place to picking. There is no limit how many times one person can enter the match to play.

The site will not pick which games will be chosen or at what cost each "slot" is worth (and total pool amount); the site will just host every game on there that users create and take a small percentage of the pool (still don't know what that percentage should be yet, though I want to make it as small as possible for people to want to keep betting there).

I know this is a very vague description of the site I want to make, but again, I don't want anyone taking the idea for their own.  Just know that it needs to be a gambling site for sports and a provably fair system will be needed to create a pooled money game.  I play this type of game with people that go to a local bar of mine a lot and it's quite fun, and I would like to see it grow into a gambling site online for everyone to enjoy.  If anyone is interested in developing this and/or would like to invest with me, PM me or message me on this thread.

Thanks.

So I didn't know where else to post this topic, mods if this isn't the right place to talk about this PM me and I'll gladly move the discussion from this section of the forum.

Any suggestions are welcome in this thread or you can PM me if you'd like as well. Thanks.

HARPUA! Me and Harpua, we couldn't care few-a! I've been looking for someone like you on here for a long time, and now I've found you. I'm so happy...I hope you're not hungry.

Hahaha, glad to see another phriend on here as well... btw not as hungry as jimmy Grin

OP you can make a thread on Project Development section and explain more details about you project, don't make a project as experiment if you want to an investor to participate to your project. If you seeking for investor you need to make an investor believe you.
Or check this section: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=207.0 to seeking an investor too.

Anyway if you need some graphic design for your project, you can PM me.

I'll be sure to do that, sorry I have been busy this weekend.. so I'm going to get on it this week. I'll give you details later in a PM if help with graphic design is needed. Thanks.

I think we can close this.  Op's last login: September 09, 2015, 04:40:33

So either he did not get a investor and left it seems.  Or it could be a scam .. I have a great idea just nee investor!  Who knows we might not ever.

Or I'm all wrong and he will be back

Hey, again... sorry I've been busy with school related stuff and of course football (live in the south, what do ya expect? lol) I'll be sure to take ikydesu's advice and start a thread in project development tomorrow when I wake up... I'll keep everyone in this thread notified what happens.  I'm just a little skeptical about sharing my ideas here, because I've never seen it in another gambling site before... I don't think it's a game that should have it's own website, but I would like for it to be part of a major gambling site that would potential give me dividends on the profits if I were to invest early on in its development.

well, what do u wanna see as proof ?? And no, I have no connection with the "company"
you just creating new address and deposit 1BTC

This is only going to run people away from the site... people know that if some just put up a 1 btc investment there, it's going take a boatload of smaller investment to pay out that one...
212  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Question about starting new type of btc gambling game on: September 09, 2015, 01:27:10 PM
people are pretty much always looking to invest btc, but they wont just hand it over, i would suggest that you hire a coder or programmer, there are a couple around here Smiley

So maybe move this thread to "services"? Or just create a new one offering to hire a programmer?  How much would a decent offer of BTC be, and do you by chance know of any specific programmers/coders by username I could look up?
213  Other / Beginners & Help / Question about starting new type of btc gambling game on: September 09, 2015, 10:00:31 AM
So I didn't know where else to post this topic, mods if this isn't the right place to talk about this PM me and I'll gladly move the discussion from this section of the forum.

So when I was trying to get some sleep last night, a light bulb went off in my head about a possible new type of btc gambling game that a large majority of sports lovers would enjoy. I've already visited multiple btc gambling websites, and I have yet seen this type of game being promoted. Because of the fact I don't want anyone taking my idea, I won't go into much detail. Just know that I would need to run a provably fair scrypt, and I don't know the slightest thing about coding, so I'm out of luck there.

Question is this though, what can I do to either start my own website with other investors who would like to participate in this experiment? Or should I pitch this game to an already established btc gambling website and invest my btc in their website. It's really hard to ask the right questions, because I would have no idea where to begin on this new found project of mine.

Any suggestions are welcome in this thread or you can PM me if you'd like as well. Thanks.
214  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's the next big thing? on: September 08, 2015, 09:01:57 PM
Many are forseeing the death of bitcoin. Do you believe bitcoin is going to die?
What are the possible substitutes for BTC? State your mind!

Next big things:

For example; bitcoins are highly suitable for:

• Online transactions
• Face-to-face mobile transactions
• Machine-to-machine transactions
• International remittances
• Secure savings
• Back-up

However, Bitcoin is much more than just "money". Bitcoin's network and technology (the "Blockchain") enables:

• Start-up innovation (an address is all you need, bank account optional)
• Autonomous Trading Entities / Decentralized Apps / Corporations (DAC:s)
• Proof-of-existence services (timestamping)
• Multi-signatory contracts, wills, insurance agreements
• Borderless value transfers
• Transparent governance

Totally agree, you need to write a book!

If one day bitcoin is gone I'm sure people would lose trust towards crypto currency as a whole. Besides at this point I really don't see an alternative coins will be worth taking over its place.

Thats bad because Litecoin can take over anytime, its almost a clone of bitcoin, so it would be easy to take over.

Plus by then we would have more experience with cryptocurrencies, so obviously any error that bitcoin had, would be corrected in the others.

Besides dont forget: NXT, NMC, PRC, GEMZ, BYTE,etc. those other altcoins will be worth something without BTC aswell. Not to mention ETHER, and RIPPLE.

I am sure that if Bitcoin would be gone, the Litecoin won't be the one to replace it. Litecoin is basically the same technology as Bitcoin, just a bit tweaked. Whatever would kill Bitcoin, would kill Litecoin as well.

Some of the above coins that you have posted have much better chance in replacing the Bitcoin, even though I don't see this happening either. They might complement each other but not replace it.

No because bitcoin faces danger from the inside.

Litecoin has pretty solid dev team. Bitcoin devs only bicker with eachother, which is not good.

If bitcoin gets destroyed by devs foolishness, litecoin will take over with more disciplined and professional devs.

If LTC is the same thing as BTC it won't matter if BTC's devs fight with each other... If the crypto you are copying is the same and their devs have an issue with block size, that means if LTC were to even get at $10 a pop, the devs would start wondering how to ensure the health of their blockchain network just like BTC's devs are doing.
215  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's the next big thing? on: September 08, 2015, 02:20:18 AM

Other coins, don't have the same issues and present other features as well.

The real Bitcoin killer would be something that was hard coded from minute one to be globally scalable and actively awarded decentralisation with zero need for further meddling. Maybe it's in the works. Maybe it'll never arrive.

I think it has arrived tbh and it's name is monero. I was looking at the coding they use and the true anonymity of the coin it's self and it is amazing! Not to mention the community behind it. It continues to grow new users every day and steadily grows in value. It's coded already to have easier P2P transactions and will be continuing to mine easier than any other coin in the long run if it gains more traction. It allows people to choose if they want their payment key to be viewed which makes any person/business to remain very secure in their transactions. I'm still learning more about it, but that is my bet of which altcoin will "make it". That's not to say btc and xmr can't cooexists either. Btc provides easier transactions with faster transaction times, while xmr secures your investment/payments. Now the real question of what would really kill btc is which coin can make a simple, very fast transaction system so everyday normal people will be able to go to the grocery store and make as quick of a purchase as debit/credit cards. If that were to happen, and this block size war is still going on; btc will eventually go down.
216  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin Core Help on: September 06, 2015, 05:08:01 PM
So I've been trying to download bitcoin core for the last two days and it still is synchronizing.  I know it takes a long time to synchronize, but it's been stuck in the same place like the 1/8th done spot for like the past 12 hours.

I should also let you know I take my laptop everywhere with me to and from work, and over at the girlfriends house, so could it be that wifi changes make it stop synchronizing until I get back home?  Or does it restart up once I connect to any wifi again?

I had a little over 20 GB to start with and that's what it said to have in your computer for it to download correctly, but now my computer is really starting to slow up, so I'm deleting a lot of files off my computer.  Does any one have any suggestions for me as to what I should do?  Huh

Thanks.

I am not sure that you want to do that. It seems to me that your computer is quite limited performance wise. I know that it's a great thing to run a full node, but if you are going to sacrifice your computer and your performance, I think it's not worth the trouble.

There are great lite clients, Electrum, Multibit, just go with that and you will be as safe if you keep your computer clean.

Cheers!

For some reason it says that I can't delete bitcoin core because it can't be deleted? WTF?

Also what is your personal favorite lite client that offers the most security in your own opinion? Idk if I can be able to download it though because apparently my computer is stuck not having any more memory due to bitcoin core not being able to be deleted.  Huh
217  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin Core Help on: September 05, 2015, 07:20:25 PM
yeah it's 47(nearly 48) to be precise, i doubt you can do anything with only 20 giga remaining, better to go with an spv client if you can't afford a cheap ssd for your laptop

Wow ok... That doesn't make sense that they would say you need 20 GB of free space if you need double that. So where would I go about getting a spv client or ssd for a mac?

219  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: do you believe with bitcoin on: September 05, 2015, 02:45:01 PM
do you believe with bitcoin in the future can replace fiat as a number one currency?

No!
i believe that bitcoin is going to become so much more popular in the future and be used worldwide. it can be accepted by a lot of different businesses all over the world , a lot of online shopping can be done with bitcoin in the future.
but i don't think it can replace fiat completely, fiat is going to always stay number one currency, and it might become more evolved that what it is now but it will never be replaced.

Yeah, as for the crypto world I believe btc will be used for mainstream online stores, monero will be used for underground markets and anything that privacy is the #1 goal, and probably fiat would still be used for day to day transactions with businesses.  Maybe at that point in time though they would have BTC debit cards or something like that if the person has a lot of their funds with BTC.
220  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Which Bitcoin Exchange do you use and why ? on: September 05, 2015, 05:36:18 AM
I recommend starting with an exchange like yobit where one can learn from a smaller and tighter community who mostly play for fun, provide giveaways, and offer advice.  It's easier to pump coins and get the feel of the game with the smaller volumes and unique selection of coins to trade.  Then, once experienced enough to be confident with one's trading skills, learn more at the next level....Poloniex offers margin trading and loans, has bigger volume, and has a cool trollbox....lol....don't flirt with the pink trolls; they're not all girls!

Do you have any recommendations as how to be successful when trading on yobit? Like is there a certain set of rules that you follow personally to ensure that it will go up in price at least some, so you can trade them off for profit?
