201  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / PlusToken Ponzi Goes To Jail on: July 30, 2020, 10:59:52 AM
Chinese authorities have arrested all 27 major suspects of PlusToken Ponzi scheme

China's Ministry of Public Security has reportedly arrested all 27 major suspects of the PlusToken Ponzi scheme that defrauded nearly $3 billion from its victims.

Several Chinese news outlets reported the news on Thursday, saying that the ministry has also arrested 82 "key members" involved in the scheme.

In August 2019, Chinese police officials confirmed to The Block that six suspects affiliated with PlusToken had been arrested, but the main suspects were still on the run at the time.

PlusToken was launched in early 2018 and was already suspected to be a pyramid scheme as early as September 2018. In June 2019, the company triggered a wide-ranging panic among Chinese and Korean investors when some users reported that they could not withdraw funds from the wallets. However, the issues were then brushed off as a "hacker attack."

PlusToken managed to collect multi-billion dollars from about 800,000 investors. Over a period of time, hundreds of millions of dollars tied to PlusToken have been moved. Just last month, nearly 790,000 ETH, worth roughly $188 million at the time, were moved.

It is not yet known whether the most important persons of this Scam have been arrested, but the fact that the scammers are systematically sent to prison makes me happy.
202  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Ledger 1 Mln Users Data Under Attack on: July 29, 2020, 03:52:56 PM
Ledger Hardware Crypto Wallet Team Disclosed Data Breach, 1 Mln Users' Data Under Attack

July 29, 2020, the team behind the Ledger products revealed that a critical vulnerability had been disclosed two weeks ago in the Ledger e-commerce database.
It has mostly affected the email addresses of Ledger purchasers, but it has also affected some personal information.

As announced by the Ledger team in their recent official statement, a participant in the Ledger bounty program contacted them on July 14 with information about a security breach.
It was immediately fixed, but then the experts disclosed that the system had been further exploited on June 25.

A third-party attacker accessed the segments of e-commerce and promotional databases holding the email addresses of customers.
Additionally, 9,500 users were exposed to a leak of order details: name, street address, phone number and the details of what they ordered.

During the investigation, Ledger's officers found out that the malefactor abused the API key. This API key was immediately deactivated and is no longer accessible.

203  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Should there be any age limit of Gambling? on: July 29, 2020, 03:22:11 PM
An age limit to start gambling of atleast 18 year seems like the minimum. For many countries this is already the case and for physical casino there is almost no way to gamble the system. However for online casino its much difference. Before I was 18 I already gambled online, especially with the growing esportes market. There are plenty of ways for kids to gamble without actually using money. Having the chance to bet skins and mounts from games on various websites is a huge market.
in my opinion we need more regulation to protect kids. The chances of getting hooked on gambling is much higher in younger age. It takes a long time to learn responsibility.

At 18, as a rule, everyone is still children who do not really understand anything. In any case, remembering myself and my peers at the age of 18 and comparing to the age of at least 21, I feel a huge difference.
It is more profitable for a casino to make an age limit, the lower the better. But personally, I would prefer that people were allowed to visit casinos only from 25-27 years old. This would lead to a significant reduction in the possibility of addiction.
204  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: JETWIN CASINO HAS OFFICIALLY REFUSED TO PAY ANY OF MY 25,000 DOLLARS IN WINNINGS on: July 29, 2020, 03:00:24 PM
This is a lesson for all of us that choosing trusted gambling sites is very important, so we can avoid the occurrence of scams
Jetwin casino. I am sure that Jetwin casino scams from a request to make a deposit first, because if there really is a payment
for taxes or transaction fees can be deducted from the amount of reward obtained. But this tells the user as the winner to make
a deposit first, this very visible old method of scammers.

At the moment, we cannot say with 100% certainty that these requests come from a real Jetwin employee, no such conditions have been sent to him (her) by email.
In addition, the OP has dealt with this casino for a long time, and as has been repeatedly mentioned above, without any problems with the withdrawal of funds.
It is necessary not to rush to conclusions, but to wait for the development of the situation
205  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 900,000 illegal bitcoins. on: July 28, 2020, 09:14:53 PM
Does this worry you much?

I am worried about the fact that these shadow bitcoins can enter the market at the most inopportune moment and in one way or another affect the movement of the bitcoin price.
Of course, this is unlikely, because we do not know the full picture of who exactly owns all these bitcoin, most likely scattered groups of people.
Otherwise, I agree, there is essentially nothing to worry about.
206  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / 900,000 illegal bitcoins. on: July 28, 2020, 04:51:14 PM
At least 870,000 bitcoins are associated with illegal activities. This is about $ 10 billion.

  • Darknet marketplaces - 585,000 BTC.
  • Stolen bitcoins - 204,000 BTC.
  • Scam project organizers - 98,000 BTC.
  • Other illegal activities 3,000 BTC.

One day, all these bitcoins will somehow hit the market.  Undecided

@Magdel2014
Has the story received any development?
Have there been any other messages from the support team? Or do they remain silent?
Do you continue to negotiate in telegrams?
208  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Jetwin casino is stealing over 30,000 dollars in winnings from me on: July 25, 2020, 10:50:09 PM
I just received this email from jetwin
Latest jetwin  email and my response https://imgur.com/a/1CcF8hr

Glad that you opened a thread about Jetwin here, the telegram could be a trap, if you decide to talk via telegram be sure you will not give in if they want you to deposit again, scammers are heartless they will try to scam you many times until you figure out hat they are indeed scammers, if you cannot get your money out it's the end of their business anyway, the money is quite big to be ignored.

Everything is correct. Conduct correspondence only where you can really be sure that you are conducting it with Jetwin's representatives.
If they decide not to pay you money, their reputation will be tarnished. In this case, it will be important that as many people as possible find out about this, I am sure they realize this and will not do stupid things.
209  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Sometimes late bounties can still pay rewards on: July 25, 2020, 10:08:11 PM
waiting for bounty payment which we have promoted 1 or 2 years ago in my opinion is a fortune because in reality many bounties that we support in the past have disappeared and are not paying bounty hunters

Like many startups, 90% of which die without taking their first steps along with investor money. We have a very similar situation, only our crypto startups first have to raise money, and only then try to realize themselves, otherwise they die even earlier than ordinary startups. Therefore, the fact that most of them do not pay funds is not surprising, 95% of them are simply not able to take place at the stage of fundraising.
210  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Liquid exchange token delisting on: July 25, 2020, 09:38:13 PM
Good for Liquid exchange for getting into Singapore to operate and I also received email from them  that my account verification has been rejected but I don't think this is going to have effect on price of these tokens, reason being that trading volume on liquid is still very low has compared to Huobi and Binance

How long ago did you send documents?
I received verification on this exchange more than a year ago, it seems that it lasted two weeks, and I was refused several times without explanation. But in the end I got through. At that time it was called differently.
Most of all, I did not like in this exchange that in order to untie 2fa I had to write in support and wait for months, so I decided not to use it.
211  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Illegal mass adoption on: July 25, 2020, 08:24:19 PM
It's kinda surprising and amazing how an ordinary person has been able to buy kiosk and Bitcoin ATM machine and have placed it on public places with no one at first hand noticing it happened. Although the intention is clear that it is to create mass promotion and adaption of using Bitcoin, there is a law that he bypass although there are already Bitcoin ATM machines around. Maybe it just looks illegal on how he have executed his intentions since we have a law to follow. But it was still amazing how this man is really wanting to have mass adaptation of using Bitcoin but he just messed up and have done it on an illegal way.

Have you read the news in full?

This person is not entirely ordinary. He organized an underground cryptocurrency exchange with a commission of 25%, and money laundering is associated with this.
In other words, he is a businessman who does not shy away from getting his hands dirty. It is possible that he laundered drug money.

213  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Coronavirus + Prisons on: July 25, 2020, 07:24:56 PM
Some inmates that have minor cases are being released in some advanced countries.

That is the easiest what can be done. Usually prisons everywhere lie in conditions that are below standard. Simply because there is always to little money to build more prisons. Crowd is very bad fro covid-19 spreading. So only smart thing is to send some prisoners to sit few months at home. I dont see any reason why that should not be done everywhere in the world. Well rich countries can fast build more prisons. Poor simply send few prisoners to housearrest.

Who will monitor whether the prisoner is at home? Do you think that after such an "amnesty" the prisoners will sit quietly and wait until they are locked back in their cells? I do not think.
What will they eat? They will not have work, which means they will not have money. That is, they will be fed by their families, who may not even be waiting for them. The risk that such a rabble will begin to rob, steal and rape is too great.
214  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Problems covid19 cause on: July 25, 2020, 06:50:27 PM
There are a lot of things that are affected because of this virus. Almost everything got closed when the lockdown have been implemented and because of this the economy of the country is immediately drop. That’s the hard fact we have to face. The unemployment status in the country got bigger. This will cause a big problem if the people have no choice they could commit crimes in order them to get money and buy some foods. Government have a lot of debts now and it will takes a lot of years before this will settled and get paid. Many health workers already infected by this virus because of lack of PPE’s and been exposing to covid-19 which supposedly the top priority right now by the government.

As mentioned above, all areas of our life were affected. One for the better, others for the worse.
People realized how much they depend on work, they realized that in their life no one will help them, you cannot rely on the state, private business does not care about you.
You only have you, and all you can count on is yourself and your own strength. Therefore, everyone should be prepared for scenarios like this.
215  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How fair is Provably Fair? Do you verify every bet as a gambler? on: July 25, 2020, 05:06:49 PM
That's why we are responsible on choosing the best gambling sites where we feel fairness and legitimacy when we access it.

It is your fault when you are victimized by those fraud gambling sites that is so unfair to its customer, and once you lose a huge amount of money, then you can't blame them.

That's the reason why prevention is much better, you should seek information and look for a reputable gambling casino first and don't waste your time to engage in gambling without even looking for a trusted casino. It should've start with us, it should've start on awareness towards choosing a fair gambling site. Don't forget to make a bad reviews once you experienced unfair gambling site so that other people will become aware with that also.

Only we are responsible for the events that happen to us. Our action or our inaction leads to what is happening to us now.
If we neglected to search for information about any project and ended up falling for a scam, it is our fault.
We should always be critical of everything, even in cases where we are 100% sure of the correctness of our choice.
216  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: JETWIN CASINO HAS OFFICIALLY REFUSED TO PAY ANY OF MY 25,000 DOLLARS IN WINNINGS on: July 25, 2020, 05:02:07 PM

I made promises to my son with that money set up a meeting to buy a home and now I just look stupid. I'm broken hearted and I need retribution or something

I hate reading this kind of story could have been a happy ending if you only know how to read between the lines, people have been preaching here to only play in reputable and old gambling sites I don't know what made you play on Jetwin, obviously it's a scam gambling site based on what they are trying to do now I hope you can still get at least half of what you are claiming, but there is life and hope after this

There are a lot of similar stories, and as a rule, we read about them post factum, when a considerable amount of time has passed and the dust has settled.
All such cases should be opened in hot pursuit. Given the impact of this forum on the crypto gambling sphere, a positive outcome is not excluded.
217  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: JETWIN CASINO HAS OFFICIALLY REFUSED TO PAY ANY OF MY 25,000 DOLLARS IN WINNINGS on: July 25, 2020, 02:26:09 PM
Also, I think this fits better on Scam Accusations section. Better move the topic.

Such topic already exist Jetwin casino is stealing over 30,000 dollars in winnings from me

~snip

It's not entirely clear to me when the chatting took place. Before or after this email? If after, then it is obvious that you need to wait some time before sounding the alarm.
But if the email came before and after correspondence followed, then we need to act now. In any case, if they do not pay the money, they will ruin their reputation and lose much more.

218  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Problems covid19 cause on: July 25, 2020, 12:38:26 PM
I just want to add something to you is that you are one of the other borough problems that unemployed people who have lost the ability to do well in their personal lives. I find it very bad that those who have lost their jobs are actually very helpless and if they want to find a good job we should stand by these people so that they can be supported.

In order to live well, a person must develop. Losing a job is painful, but often not fatal. You are still alive, you have something to make money. But, it is important to understand that anything can happen in life, an epidemic, a war, a cataclysm. And the world in the usual sense can change in a very short time. Therefore, everyone is obliged to protect themselves in such a way that he would have funds of various kinds, including cash, in stock.
219  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How fair is Provably Fair? Do you verify every bet as a gambler? on: July 25, 2020, 12:34:17 PM

Maybe it could be a good idea to open a thread where users would post an update everytime they've checked a gamble on a provably fair casino.

I think this makes sense only if someone makes a certain amount of bets in completely different casinos, and then checks them. Thus, we can understand how things are in each individual casino.
There is no point in checking and posting the same thing every time. If it works, then it works.
220  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How fair is Provably Fair? Do you verify every bet as a gambler? on: July 24, 2020, 07:28:46 PM
Actually, I am guilty with that as I seldom do the verification. As I only play in known gambling sites here, I feel I can trust them with provable fairness aspect.
But if the site is new, and wanted to try their site. I try to verify my bet.
But I usually do that only at the start, once I see that the site is practicing provable fairness, I don't verify my succeeding bets.
But if you are shelling a lot of money, I believe you need to verify randomly if they are consistent with their fairness.

Same. The inertia of my mind tells me that checking the fairness bets is unnecessary. After all, I am already playing on the platform chosen by more sophisticated forum users who have probably done all the checks before me. However, everything should be checked, what I think about is just an assumption that relieves me of responsibility and forces me to do nothing.
