201  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: So long and thanks for all the fish. on: August 31, 2012, 03:41:44 PM
"Fat Man" was the codename for the atomic bomb that detonated over Nagasaki.

And I think "the sun" is an allusion to the fat address (or its owner).

Also, "The Sun" is a newspaper.  Cheesy
202  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcrate resurrected! Free Bitcoins everyday on: August 31, 2012, 03:19:54 PM
First of all why is he monitoring people's IP addr?

To make sure people don't request payouts more than once every 24 hours.
Your IP address could have been blocked because someone who got that address from your ISP before you could have done shit, or you're using Tor or some public VPN service.
203  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: BitBin - Earn bitcoins with your pastes! on: August 31, 2012, 01:16:35 PM
Too bad Instawallet doesn't allow for sending less than 0.01 BTC Sad
204  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Never Watch TV on: August 30, 2012, 10:38:56 PM
Diversity is important. Find as many information sources as you can, from (inter)national/mainstream ones to local/niche ones. And in the end, you must always keep some layer of abstraction and think that not all that you read/see/hear is absolute. To me it seems that, unfortunately, people (including myself Sad ) seem to have lost the ability to judge the information they collect as more and more sources appear, while it should be the other way around IMHO.
205  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Announcing BitcoinFunding.com The BEST bitcoin fundraising method on the planet on: August 30, 2012, 10:24:08 PM
Hmmm... I find this a bit phishy specially after the link bbit posted.

As for a Bitcoin-accepting crowdfunding system, I'm satisfied with http://booster.io (even though I got little money from it and its friend propster.me). Allows for anonymous contributions with no lower limit ("Pledge Anonymously").
206  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: BitBin - Earn bitcoins with your pastes! on: August 30, 2012, 09:24:32 PM
The solution was "*********".

I'm sure I tried that in the first run! Oh wait, I must have forgotten either one of the letters or somehow went dyslexic and missed something.

I even googled "what is more important than" to get some suggestions. Google, Y U NO SMART?  Angry

EDIT: 15:36 31st Aug 2012 (UTC): solution scrambled on request and post changed a bit. I usually don't censor on request what I write but I thought this time it made sense to do it.
207  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitcoingate on: August 30, 2012, 08:59:44 PM
I find these two guys similar, but I'm not sure if they are the same person (at a glance, I'd say they aren't). One seems older than the other (nothing that can't be solved these days with surgery, anyway).
208  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BitcoinRadio on: August 30, 2012, 08:36:16 PM
And by the way we should encourage PayPal to start handling bitcoins as well Smiley

Sure, after transaction reversal is added to Bitcoin and the level of anonymity is decreased, they may look into it. I can hear them asking:
"Why not use email addresses instead of this multiple-lengthy-random-codes thingy to identify users?"
"And why not a single password for everything instead of this "private key"?" Grin
"Wallet backup? What's that?"
209  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANNOUNCE] skude.se/BTC - an easier way to request your daily free coins on: August 30, 2012, 08:28:29 PM
Thanks for pointing me to it, I'll stop using them because of their greed (they also don't seem to like the fact that I'm using an ad blocker which blocks just one of their ads). I usually white-list all websites that I like except those that beg me to turn off my ad blocker.
210  Other / Off-topic / Re: interesting visits to my site on: August 30, 2012, 08:14:52 PM
Perhaps it is more of an indicative of the people who have been pointed to BitPasta pastes?
211  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: DailyBtc.com - Daily Bitcoin Lottery with FREE daily scratch-offs on: August 30, 2012, 08:10:34 PM
So I entered my address, did the daily scratch-off and it says I won 0.001 BTC. Will this be paid to the address I entered, or what?
212  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: BitBin - Earn bitcoins with your pastes! on: August 30, 2012, 07:10:52 PM
It's gone. None of the 200+ words I tried worked. It allowed enough time to develop a bruteforcing bot with a wordlist, though - too bad I didn't do it.
213  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcointalk.org Privacy Question on: August 30, 2012, 03:08:08 PM
Just act under the assumption everything you send to the Internet is not private (sometimes, even passwords!) and cannot be fully deleted (just like you can't go back in time and mute what you said IRL), and you'll be fine (or you'll become a maniac, not sure...).
214  Other / Off-topic / Re: butterflylabs.com - any comment about your ASIC progress? on: August 29, 2012, 10:15:08 PM
May BFL's ASICs turn out to be a fiasco? If the first ASICs to come out do not give anything like the advertised speeds, then I'd say people who pre-ordered were scammed.
215  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANNOUNCE] skude.se/BTC - an easier way to request your daily free coins on: August 29, 2012, 10:09:32 PM
/edit  nevermind, I saw the other thread.

Now I'm curious too, what other thread? A search for "bitcoinaddict" and "bitcoin addict" didn't reveal it. And I'm under the impression they pay out.
216  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: guiminer stops when watching vid's on: August 29, 2012, 01:12:27 PM
I'm in no way an expert, but video players most likely want to use the GPU for decoding the video or at least updating the CPU decoded frames on the screen in real-time. That leads to problems because multiple software is trying to use the GPU, and in the best situation you'll always see a drop in the hashing speed.
217  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scammer: Pirateat40 on: August 29, 2012, 11:43:32 AM
Well, they should just consolidate it into only one. Even the pic they took in Las Vegas was deleted :/

Don't tell me nobody remembered to save it offline?
218  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: YouGotCoin Down? on: August 28, 2012, 08:23:02 PM
It's down for me too, but I don't know for how long.
219  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: BitPasta - a revenue sharing paste site (apologies to BitBin) on: August 28, 2012, 06:55:16 PM
Obviously, you need to pay too to access Smiley

I don't, I'm the admin and can see all URLs. But don't worry, I'm fair so I won't play or give anyone the link. I'm not a scammer Smiley
220  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 0.1BTC up for grabs. [Requires payment of 0.01 to play] on: August 28, 2012, 06:49:24 PM
I don't get it. what are you getting out of this? What if I don't guess the character? I lose the money?

When you pay the 0.01 BTC you get access to the incomplete link. You can then keep on trying characters like on the other thread.
You can even share the incomplete link here or anywhere if you really want to, because I still haven't found a way to protect the long link from being shared by people who paid for access to it (read: it's impossible to do that).
