This SSD is now sold out on Newegg and has had its price raised to $175. can anybody beat AndrewK's offer of 9.25BTC? if not it's being shipped to him in the morning.
204  Other / Off-topic / Re: What to do if you're crazy about a girl that has a boyfriend? on: December 03, 2012, 07:12:28 AM
circumstantial advice is circumstantial! all boils down to the elements of any given random relationship.

207  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 25BTC reward but.. no drop in hash rate! on: December 03, 2012, 07:08:02 AM
proportionately according to the pie chart at bitcoinwatch.com "unknown" has been getting pretty massive, so new hashing devices whatever they may be are still getting turned on, big farms that are solo mining? hopefully not a single user trying to interfere with network operation? banks? the majority of blocks are being relayed by a node somewhere in europe, 93.174.55.27 , seems to be relaying 10 or so blocks a day pretty consistently ...
208  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Reward Half without ASICs = Bad for miners? on: December 03, 2012, 07:00:45 AM
it's the winter season, so i'm not stopping since the extra heat can be a plus. if it were summer, i'd definately reconsider. difficulty is on the up, if it reaches 5 million without BTC breaking $15 i intend to stop, that's my threshold
209  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Who Thinks BFL Will Release There ASICS Before BTC on: December 03, 2012, 03:18:52 AM
does BFL have the chips yet? seems it'd be easier to complete the production process using 90nm rather than 65, but i'm far from an expert in the field..
210  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Cheap mobo that is compatible with..? on: December 01, 2012, 10:44:58 PM
I have an old asus AM2 socket board I'd be willing to part with if you're just looking for hardware to mount cards onto. are you just trying to mine coins or are you trying to make it into a full purpose rig?

I have asus M24N-SLI AM2 atx motherboard, Athlon 64 AM2 dual-core cpu @ 2.2ghz, and 3GB of ddr2 RAM
I'll sell all 3 together for 2.5BTC + shipping
211  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Is this a Mistake or what? on: December 01, 2012, 10:38:18 PM
Newegg is completely sold out of 69xx cards, so scarcity might have a role to play? tigerdirect has 6950's for $250+, which is still crazy. You're better off getting a 7870 at that price; it's better for gaming and mining.

215  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin Foundation succeed lobbying Valve to use Bitcoin as ingame currency? on: December 01, 2012, 04:21:27 AM
Game economies only suffer from catastrophic hyperinflation when bots and "chinese gold farmers" enter the fray and begin to exploit moneymaking schemes within the game..  solution?

ban chinese IP's..?  Grin
216  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: My PSU just had a catastrophic failure (i.e. exploded) on: November 29, 2012, 11:39:18 PM
Here's how you load balance a power supply.

Step 1: Sell the multi rail PSU on eBay
Step 2: Buy a single rail power supply
Step 3: Huh
Step 4: Profit.

Any of the Rosewill CAPSTONE, FORTRESS, or LIGHTNING lines are exceptional quality, the same if not better than high end seasonic, corsair, etc, and they cost significantly less money. Also all CAPSTONE and LIGHTNING are rated 80PLUS GOLD and the FORTRESS line is 80PLUS Platinum.

I personally run 6 GPU's (5850 and 5870's) off of a 750W NZXT HALE90 (80plus gold) and it doesnt break a sweat. It was expensive and wasn't aware of the rosewill lines at the time, but it works great and it's also single rail.
This. I have a Rosewill Fortress series 550watt platinum powering a pair of 6950's and an i7-920, and it doesn't even break 80% load. Amazing PSU for the money.

I have been involved with the Bitcoin Community for over a year. My name one these forums is my legal name.

The fact that I have to post in n00b forums is retarded, but I will delicately spam in accordance with the rules.

Also, Hi.
I smell bullshit. Well, more accurately, trollshit.
220  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Would it be worth it to start to mine? on: November 28, 2012, 07:19:30 AM
The block reward is dropping to 25 so that means you do the same work as regular that you would usually get 50 and now you will only get 25 for doing the same work?
Yes, the same work will soon be worth half as much. At Bitcoin's current value, you will lose money mining with a GPU unless you live very close to a power station and have cheap/free electricity. However, don't let that discourage you. If you want to try mining, by all means, go for it, but don't invest a bunch of money into GPU-based mining equipment at this stage in the game. That 72GH/s device you were looking at has been delayed for production until January 2013 at the earliest, so it's possible that you can make some coins before then. Once ASIC devices hit the market, combined with block reward halving, mining with anything but an ASIC will make very little sense unless BTC value goes up.
