"Provably fair or GTFO".

Please make it provably fair. The advantage of bitcoin is that everyone can verify the results and know it is fair. Other than the small development cost, you really have no reason to not implement it (unless you are rigging the results).
202  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: bitcoin cam girls on: March 03, 2013, 10:46:55 AM
I really don't have much respect for girls that cam for money..
203  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Chrome extension update seems fishy? on: March 03, 2013, 10:46:10 AM
I looked at the code and there isn't anything fishy there.
204  Economy / Lending / Re: Looking for 3 BTC loan 10% int. for 1 month on: March 03, 2013, 10:45:21 AM
I wouldn't suggest paying with BTC - you can't chargeback, and if the current rally keeps up you'll feel pretty bad.

The current waiting line is also incredibly long that you'd do better buying 4 shares of ASICMINER.
205  Economy / Securities / Re: [BTCTC][[ASICMINER-PT]] - Public trading of ASICMINER shares on: March 03, 2013, 10:42:57 AM
Ok my newbness abounds here.

I can see people have already put up bids.  Are these bids valid and any bid of 0.65 BTC will get shares as long as there is supply or will this list reset at 7 PM GMT?
It won't reset - if you already have bits at 0.65 then you'll buy it as soon as it comes online. If there are greater demand, then those that pays the most will be filled first.

Thanks, this was my assumption.  But we know what assumptions do so I wanted to be sure.
You're welcome - glad to have helped :)
206  Other / Meta / Simple extension/userscript to automatically check certain "Additional Options" on: March 03, 2013, 10:41:46 AM
I've grown tired of checking the 'Don't use smilies' checkbox because I don't like how it looks, so I've made a simple userscript to automatically check it. It can also be used for other checkboxes too, like 'Return to this topic' or 'Notify me of replies'. Just change "check_smileys" to the ID of the checkbox.

JS:
Quote
window.onload = function(){
   if(document.getElementById("check_smileys")){
      document.getElementById("check_smileys").checked = true;
   }
}

(I told you it's simple! :)

If you want it to be packaged in a chrome extension, use this as manifest.json:

Quote
{
  "manifest_version": 2,
  "name": "SMF Uncheck Smilies",
  "description": "A simple extension that automatically checks 'Don't use smilies.'",
  "version": "1.0",
  "permissions": [
  "https://bitcointalk.org/"
  ],
  "content_scripts": [
   {
      "matches": ["https://bitcointalk.org/*"],
      "js": ["content.js"]
   }
  ]
}

Then just load it unpacked in Chrome.
207  Economy / Securities / Re: [BitFunder] Asset Exchange Marketplace on: March 03, 2013, 10:21:54 AM
I just wanted to comment on my experience I just had, I was testing out the withdrawal process going from having BTC on Bitfunder, and moving it onto Ripple through WeExchange. The entire process took about 20 seconds, and was very easy. I now see the benefit of integrating with WeExchange for instant withdrawals, and how Ripple can be a nice complement to the bitcoin system; I could have then sent the btc on to one of my contacts in Ripple with another couple clicks and a second of waiting for it to process. Very nice indeed.

Hi Peter and thanks for the review.

There is actually some very very large news right around the corner for both WeExchange and BitFunder. This is meant to serve as an official tease notice of "Big things to come".
Between both announcements, assuming progress continues as is, I hope to knock the socks off of most everyone. (And yes, a WeExchange site update is in the works.)

As for ripple, there are big plans moving for that as well. The guys at ripple have been working very hard and very close with us to make things as smooth as possible.

As for instant transfers, this is one of the main benefits of BitFunder being directly connected to WeExchange. I will just say, look forward to this expanding. ;)
Big things to come? Sounds pretty interesting!

Also, could you please code options trading for BitFunder? It's really lacking, no bitcoin stock exchanges support it for securities :(

The OP?
I'm pretty sure it's the OP, considering how you haven't got a PM.

211  Other / Meta / Re: Newbies section sub-board on: March 03, 2013, 10:15:43 AM
I suggest a "Help and Support" subboard and "Economy / Trading" subboard.
212  Economy / Services / Re: Blockchain.info price ticker rounding to whole ints on: March 02, 2013, 09:35:37 AM
It's how Blockchain.info displays it too. I recall previously it had two decimal places, so I think this is a bug.

Move to service discussion btw?

Isn't copyright infringement illegal in most countries?
214  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: MPOE-PR's list of things you always suspected were scams but never dared say so. on: March 02, 2013, 09:24:06 AM
What exchange should I go with instead? I'd like to use a reputable exchange instead of one that gets hacked or shut down..

Yeah, which is why I said "discourage spammy transactions like SatoshiDICE" - the key word is like :)
218  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple: Why XRPs are superior to Bitcoins on: March 02, 2013, 06:22:24 AM
Set me straight If I am not understanding any of this.

I would love a video of exactly how ripple is intended to work. Though I would suspect it would be hard to create a video explaining that 4 guys are going to create a currency give 50 percent away then hold the other 50 percent in the hopes that it gains in value. Then convince people that they should use it and even though 50 percent of them were given away for free! and the other 50 percent are held by the 4 oligarchs of digital currency! that they are valuable!
So basically you have designed what could become the worlds most centralized currency with 4 members issuing and controlling the distribution of said currency oh and you have this little problem too

* Since OpenCoin's business model is to "hold XRP and hope they appreciate", we know that no proposals for fully decentralized distribution (e.g. "proof of work") can possibly be taken seriously.

So we know that you cant be trusted because of the nature of your business model.

Does anyone else see this ending in a repeat of the facebook fiasco between these guys all four of them in court suing one another over who did what and who owns what?

Let me know if i am missing something.

This is the first time I actually agree with you, sublime.

220  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple Scam: Centralized, Centrally Issued, Bribes exchanges, Closed Source on: March 02, 2013, 06:18:18 AM
No, it is relevant because people will stop using Ripple the more times they have to pay for other people.
As I said, we're not relying on community/social credit. We're promoting Ripple as a payment system based on gateways. The social credit system will always be there should people be ready to use it. I agree that it's difficult to use safely right now, hard to understand, and so on. Much better tools will be needed, and even then it may never catch on. I genuinely believe that one day it will be Ripple's killer app and will transform the way people think about money and finance. But we're not relying on it.

Quote
The more hops there are, the more likely this is going to happen.
The number of hops has no effect on the number of people who owe you money. There's just no connection at all.

It really tells you when one of the employees doesn't even know their own system.

Ask yourself this: Do you want to owe someone money because someone owed you money? Do you want to owe someone money because someone owed you money as another person owed that someone money?

Unless you like paying out of pocket for the mistakes and scams of others, ripple is destined to fail. There's no killer app for something that has a critical flaw in the logic, execution and pure greed of the developers.
