You don't appear to have a clear idea of what you want done. The first paragraph talks about arbitrage between exchanges but .... as you know, its been done to death, and doesn't even tend to work because of fiat, slow transfers etc. The second idea is "buy low and sell high" bot ... that's not a description of a service, just a goal that everyone wants to achieve, a fantasy if you will.
By what methods will you "buy low and sell high"?
Until you have a clear idea what you want programmed, I would put the 7 BTC back in your pocket.
Sorrry to come across as "blunt", I don't mean to, but even projects with a "tight design" come across many obstacles. The project as currrently defined is ... not yet defined.
You do realize wangxinxi is the site owner, right? He's not the person who offered the job.

This basically allows a server to remain completely unfindable, since the only network actions it performs are outgoing and through Tor. If a server is unfindable, then the private keys can't be snatched.
But that's not the biggest threat. The biggest threat is server A being compromised, and telling server B send coins to attacker's address.

I'm politely asking you to stop posting in my thread. You lost the argument on the definitive level and now you're trying to debate that you're grasping for reasons to still be right. Please stop. If you have an issue with the word I used, tough luck but please stop whining about it.
What's wrong? dissenting opinion that you can't refute? Hint: this is a forum, a place for discussion. If you wanted a place where everyone will support you no questions asked, you came to the wrong place. Keep in mind I'm not arguing viceroy/buyer didn't slander or have multiple accounts. I'm simply arguing that "scammer" is the wrong word to use. edit: I like how you won the argument by using well thought out counter arguments and refutations. /s edit2: I do have an issue with the word you're using. You're calling someone a scammer, when he didn't scam anyone. That's slander, period. edit3: stop editing that post, just make a new reply ffs. He indicated that if I did not stop bothering Viceroy/Btctalkaccounts/buyer then there would be something negative impending ( my doxxing etc.).
He was simply warning you that Btctalkaccounts is a dangerous person. If you're going to call that a "threat", you might want to call your DA and get your local sheriff convicted for "threatening" the public.

Listen, this is not the place to try and put your yellowing law degree to use. Stop spamming the thread.
You are here: You seem to have missed my point: This is the subforum for non-technical grievances. Being the only one, it's also the most fitting. Human language is horribly imprecise, dicdefs are horribly vague, incomplete, obsolescent &, on top of that, inconsistent across publishers/versions/dates. English is not a formal language, dicdefs are descriptive, not definitive -- any logical deduction is guaranteed to end in disaster: Garbage in - garbage out. i hope we're on the same page. Just to humor you, and 'coz i'm as neardsly, i'll address your first one: Of course, when Obama lied, he scammed the american people. We good?
First, if you're going to bite the bullet and say obama's a scammer, you might want to know that not even republicans (or fox news) calls him a scammer. So your point falls apart right there. Second, what's wrong with using logic? If your definition can lead to absurd implications, it's not correct, period. Third, if you check all the other threads in the "scam accusations", you'll see that most of the threads are about people actually losing money/bitcoins/altcoins/merchandise. Forth, if I applied the logic of "slander" == "scam", then I can make a thread accusing Oldsport of being a "scammer" for slandering another member. Viceroy/buyer might be slandering people and using sockpuppet accounts, but that doesn't make it okay to call him something he's not. [...] A threat sent via PM: Just a heads up, you don't wanna trifle with BTCTalkAccounts. he is dangerous imo. google the word "doxxing". this is more or less what he does for a living. he steals peoples identities and extorts payment from them in bitcoin. he did it to me just this past week.
LOL 2GOLD4ME. He was warning you about a dangerous member and now you're saying he's threatening you? Might want to rename this board "Member Threats".

short version: You have more than 30 vulnerabilities including a severe one that you need to address immediately. I've only completed 5% of my scan.
This sounds like those "your computer has 9001 viruses! click here for free security scan" ads.

I think Grue is trying to get admin position, constantly see him reporting "Newbies for spamming"
No, I'm just sick and tried of people bumping up old topics. It either brings up discussions that were done 9001 times before, or brings up an issue that is out of date (blockheader v2, for example). Although I agree noobs who spam over excessively should be dealt with harshly, the one in the picture does not look that bad.
What do you suggest grue? Ban him for posting on a old thread?
Check the context of the thread. He's complaining that a 3 year old site is down. I don't care if he's new to the internet, or he's genuinely spamming, but he needs to be punished (or at least warned). If you check his last postings, you can see that his other posts are also replies to old threads. Its the newbie section, its filled with lame threads and stupid posts. noobs want to get out of there. You cant blame them.
Wait, it was? I rarely scroll down to the newbie section.

Wait, you honestly missed everything above "impostor"? Selective redacting much? [...] This help?
Let me tear part the rest of them as well. A deception deliberately practiced in order to secure unfair or unlawful gain. Let's assume that definition is true. According to that definition, Obama will be a "scammer", because he deceived the public (pick one of his campaign promises), for personal gain (getting elected is a pretty big gain). Obviously this is absurd. You can call him a liar, but it would be a stretch to call him a "scammer". A piece of trickery; a trick. This definition is problematic because it only requires some sort of deception to be considered as "scamming". As illustrated above, merely deceiving someone can not be called scamming. One that defrauds; a cheat. A person who defrauds is a fraud? You don't say! edit: saw your edit, so i'll include a response to your edited part as well Edit: Not defending OldSport, just pointing out that the narrow interpretation of "scammer" isn't helping anyone. If people post in "Scam Accusations," they obviously feel their grievance fits the bill. 'Till there's a "Things mistakenly thought to be scams but technically aren't" forum, why not use this as a catch-all?
I'm not defending Viceroy/buyer's actions either. I find it wrong for OldSport to use sensationalist titles and words to slander is opponent, yet he's accusing him of the very same thing.

3 - Alt-coins =\= BTC
Yes I agree, again. But you can make coins that are very similar in nature to bitcoin. What I'm getting at is that there are ways to increase crypt coin creation and usage as part of the overall economy, and whichever route taken will impact the prices significantly. This is what you're doing: 1. Make sensationalist claim ("all dogs are birds") 2. Attempt vaguely to try to defend it ("b-b-but dogs breathe and eat too, just like birds!") 3. Once people attack your claim, backtrack to trivial claim ("fine, all dogs are animals") ...and everyone fell for the bait. bravo.

I'm not here to debate with you. Unless you have something to contribute to the situation please refrain from posting. It's distracting people from the topic at hand.
Oh boo fucking hoo. You're just mad that someone has a differing opinion. This is a forum, a place for debate. You're making false accusations against a forum member. In addition, you're using misleading words in an attempt to discredit him. And with all of this, you're expecting no challenge from other members? How about you start a self moderated topic so your little special space where you can't have your views challenged. " It's distracting people from the topic at hand." What's wrong, are you upset that people are poking holes in your argument? Where do people get these strict definitions of "scam"? Scam is a non-technical slang term, and is defined very loosely:
read the first few posts. [...] b. One who assumes a false pose; an impostor.
So yeah, socking is fraud.
But how is using another account impersonating anyone? According to that logic, anyone on 4chan is an "imposter", because they're all "[assuming] a false pose".

This shit is getting ridiculous. Newbies are replying to old topics with spam relies. It's cluttering up the forum. We need a rule forbidding replies to (very) old topics.

1) The 21 million figure could change if developer consensus did, and people downloaded the software
then it would be the equivalent of an alt-coin. 2) The base money supply can be easily inflated with off block systems, IOUs and CFDs for example, but there would be many more instruments to expand the money supply
>implying fractional reserve banking will work with bitcoin >implying bitcoin users will use fractional reserve banking >implying "off block systems" will be more than just "first bitcoin savings and trust credits". 3) Alt coins could become very similar to BTC, and can be easily created
are you that dense?

I want to run Bitcoin-qt from my laptop computer and have the blockchain stored on an attached USB pendrive as I'm running out of storage space on my laptop's Linux partition.
By the way I appreciate your help. Thanks.
Oh, in that case, just start bitcoin-qt: ./bitcoin-qt -datadir=path/to/usb If you already have a copy of the blockchain downloaded, you can move it to usb (no detach needed). If you plan on using the same files on another computer, you'll need to run with the -detachdb option.
|
|
|
What am I doing wrong? Any ideas? Thanks. ~/Downloads/bitcoin-0.8.2-linux/bin/32 $ ./bitcoin-qt -detachdb=1 -datadir=</media/KINGSTON> bash: syntax error near unexpected token `newline' Don't bother with datadir. Use the steps from post #9. Then move the files from the existing data directory. Bitcoin's default datadir is in ~/.bitcoin/ (i think, not sure how the unix file system works).

It could be one or more of the following: - The pool you have configured is down, or is unreachable
- You have misconfigured your pool
- Your service provider is blocking stratum traffic
Try switching to another pool. If that doesn't help, switch to a port 80 pool that uses getwork/getblocktemplate(GBT), instead of stratum. Also, I already said it in your previous thread: STOP USING COMMAS AS ELLIPSIS. IT'S FUCKING ANNOYING.
