2001  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin main use case now on: December 10, 2021, 07:11:05 AM
Btc main use case now is this:
Bitcoin is good market prices indicator to show just wich way all other coins likely will go.

If there is another reasons to use ....its unlikely.
People say specially traders that btc price is good indicator also to show wich way altcoins might go.
For payments and moving funds the stablecoins are definately best ones.

But yeah..now we know btc main usecase

Bitcoin was initially introduced for a different reason. But with the course of the time, it has taken a different direction. It's more of an investment now rather than anything else. But there are couple of people who likes to spend their bitcoins but for majority it's an investment.

For payments, we have much better options available in the crypto market which are faster and cheaper than bitcoin. But the long term value appreciation bitcoin can provide, it is second to none!
2002  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Isn’t KYC anti-ethical to Bitcoin? on: December 10, 2021, 05:07:33 AM
When i first heard about bitcoin, one of the selling points then was the pseudo anonymity. But as of recently, it is hard to purchase any crypto without encountering a form of KYC.

I’m just curious of everyone’s thought on this.

Yes, it is! KYC is super unethical for bitcoin. But it is hard for a common people to buy bitcoin without going through KYC verification unfortunately. That's why we are seeing a sudden rise in SWAP systems and DEXs. But again, you can't use fiat with them so you need to have KYC details to enter into the crypto market in general.

It's unfortunate buy it's a sad reality. This decentralized crypto market is flooded with multiple centralized exchanges who are bound to comply with the government regulations.
2003  Economy / Gambling / Re: I won 2nd highest prize of $20 at FreeBitco.in! on: December 09, 2021, 06:18:20 PM
It sounds more sarcastic than an appreciative post! $20 is a super small amount to be excited about! But it seems that op has won this amount on a free lottery ticket. So it makes sense because that's a free money to OP. but if he had done some betting and then won this amount, then its too small.

In any case, freebitco is a very old website and still growing strong for sure! Congratulations on winning!
2004  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: is it possible to create an Ideal Non-Inflated money? on: December 09, 2021, 05:41:08 PM
Quote
What is your opinion on the new Japanese stablecoin? Do you think government stablecoins have a chance?

Why not! That's the reason why Japan is trying to prohibit the use of any other stablecoin because they understand the competition it may have to face when they will launch their own CBDC.

I am personally not against the CBDC concept. From an administrative perspective, it makes a lot of sense! So no wonder every country is now exploring the possibility to create their own CBDCs. But that won't be non- inflationary! In an ideal world, non-inflationary currency can't exist!
2005  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: $2 million worth of SHIBA INU bought on: December 09, 2021, 04:05:59 PM
As per the latest update an Ethereum whale has purchased SHIB worth over $2 million, is that why we have seen recovery in the price over last 24 hours? I am wondering whether this will push more users to buy SHIB as there are two reasons why users will buy SHIB, one just because it's recovering and second is the assumption that whenever whales invest into any crypto it would pump hard. Are we being bull trapped again ?

I am seeing this news is doing rounds in the internet today. Some whale had purchase 27 billion Shiba Inu tokens worth over two million dollars. I believe this is a speculative purchase because there was a FUD running in the market that Shiba Inu token will be listed in Robinhood exchange. So I believe the whale tried to bank on this news.

Eventually Robinhood listing wasn't done yet and the value of this token took a hit. That's why it's very risky to invest in meme coins which has no real use case and are actually worthless in real world.

2007  Economy / Economics / Re: I think most people still trust the USD more than Bitcoin on: December 09, 2021, 05:56:10 AM
Every time there's a problem with the debt-ceiling in the US since 2011 there has been talks about the possibility of minting a one trillion-dollar platinum coin out of thin air.

Although the current US Treasury Secretary is opposed to this idea, there are people out there that are pushing to make this happen.

On the other hand, most people think that Bitcoin reaching one million dollars is ludicrous.

Combining these two ideas, I get the impression that most people still believe more in the USD than Bitcoin.

Although things might change in the future when Bitcoin reaches $100k at some point. That will probably be an important mental milestone for the average person.

That's quite obvious! People do trust in USD more than bitcoin. Majority of the world population didn't hear the name bitcoin till date. But they all know about USD. USD is dominating the world trade since a log time time. Majority of the world trade is settled in SUD only rather than the local currency of the importer/exporter. So it's not a rocket science to understand that USD gathers more trust that bitcoin.

This might never change even after bitcoin reaching hundred thousand dollars price point. because then people new to bitcoin will have another fear of collapsing. So that might become metal barrier for them to enter into bitcoin market. In a nutshell, where trust matters the most, bitcoin may never be able to compete with USD in reality.
2008  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Financial Guard Rail ? on: December 09, 2021, 05:07:25 AM
Well, this is not a new invention. In my Country, ICICI Bank has a similar facility to track and analyze your spending. But what Draftfuel is doing, has an gambling context to it. I remember, this kind of facility, proved very useful during my initial days of employment when my salary was low and I used to stay in a different city than my native.

But this kind of facility can only make you aware about your own finances. It doesn't put a hold on your spending. Novice gamblers need something that will block their gambling transactions after a certain limit.
2009  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Whale bought $150 worth of Bitcoins during the dip. on: December 08, 2021, 07:53:05 PM
Please update the title of the thread. There is a big difference between $150 and $150 million.

The whale/corporate who had purchased this huge amount of bitcoins, clearly understands one simple math. There are 7.3 billion people in this world but only 21 millions of bitcoin can ever exist. So it's a accumulation game and the whale want to play it correctly. As simple as that!
2010  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Q:Why isn't the Shocking Ethereum Fees discussed more in Media? A:... on: December 08, 2021, 05:54:06 PM
It's true that Gas fees are ridiculously high since a long time now and we are not seeing a resolution to this. It is actually creating market gap for BNB. Nowadays BNB has become the most preferred chain to complete transactions for the token owners.

Vitalik is definitely aware of this issue and I am sure bigger plans are ongoing in the background. ETH 2.0 is definitely coming sonner than later. Otherwise there's literally no solution to the high gas fees.
2011  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: IPO OpenSea on: December 08, 2021, 05:07:32 PM
Lol! It's interesting to see how it pans out! Because as per my understanding, if Opensea goes public, then it will be the second company in the crypto history to go public after Coinbase. But the investors may be furious because they wanted a free NFT drop instead of investing in IPO. But that's ok because every company needs money to operate and stock market is one of the most reliable and time tested process to bring in that money.
2012  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Situation with btc and usecase lets think now on: December 08, 2021, 04:40:55 PM
Imagine i buy something today with btc.
With 1 btc.
Today its worthed 60k tomorrow will be 40k.
And can fall down even further so the person who i transfered btc are in loss ?
The volatility is main issue why we cant use never for paying something....or im wrong ?
Or how is the situation here ?

That's a practical issue with all cryptocurrencies that are market driven. Which makes them a bad choice for transferring value. The seller who is accepting bitcoin against a product, will be either is loss or in profit if he chose to keep that bitcoin without settling for cash.

That's exactly where services like bitpay or polispay comes handy. That enables you to offer crypto payment option to your customers and also settles the same in fiat at the timestamped value.

But this volatility makes bitcoin an investment rather than a currency.
2013  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: VISA expands their crypto business strategy to Banks on: December 08, 2021, 02:47:37 PM
VISA expands their crypto network to banking.  I am very optimistic about the action taken by Visa although I believe this is a form of business interest but a visionary business.  This means that all this time, Bitcoin, which is the enemy of fiat, was introduced by Visa as a new business opportunity for banks.  Visa tries to be a communication intermediary from centralized actors with decentralized products.  Do you think the same or is it just me who considers this a very good development for crypto going forward.

Source : https://www.coindesk.com/business/2021/12/07/visa-launches-crypto-advisory-services-for-banks-as-demand-for-digital-assets-grows/

So Visa is introducing an advisory service for the banking and financial institutions. I am not sure why you are finding it visionary! It's just easy money for Visa. They have seen a gap in the market and planned to bridge that gap to earn their next billion dollar from the market and to increase their footsteps as a settlement provider. So I don't think it is a visionary idea to be honest. It's just a "fill in the blank" business model to make money out of thin air.
2014  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: People claiming themself satoshi on: December 08, 2021, 05:16:59 AM
There are some people who have claimed themselves as satoshi nakamoto. Craig is one of them. I'm sure all of them are fraud. Just trying to get into the focus, they are nothing but attention seeker. Anyway, can someone give me a complete list of people who have claimed them as satoshi nakamoto?

Please read this article which may be able to provide some insights about the entire story of Satoshi Nakamoto,

https://www.businessinsider.in/tech/everything-you-need-to-know-about-bitcoin-its-mysterious-origins-and-the-many-alleged-identities-of-its-creator/articleshow/61895890.cms

There are couple of people who have claimed the throne of Satoshi but Craig wright is the only prominent fraud who had taken it to the court.

You need to understand that there is an unclaimed fortune worth 54 billion usd is lying in the internet. So it's no wonder that people are trying to get their hands on that.
2015  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why people gone crazy about satoshi on: December 07, 2021, 06:10:07 PM
In 2009-10 no one is ready to listen him and suddenly later people gone crazy.
If you like bitcoin then forget satoshi, he don't want to be remembered that's what he is trying to say and you are not respecting it.
you are only interested in bitcoin not satoshi but you think I can't have bitcoin so if I get satoshi I can get some bitcoin from him lol, People are ridiculous.

Who says we don't remember the great inventor like Satoshi? We all do but we also respect his privacy so we don't want to initiate a search operation for him. That's respecting his privacy and nothing else. If the creator of bitcoin wants to come forward, he will do it by himself.

It's true that many new investors are not aware of him or they don't know the history of bitcoin.but that's not true for everyone in this forum.
2016  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Tether fud need to be stopped its silly on: December 07, 2021, 05:31:25 PM
What specific FUD you are referring to? There are many FUDs in the market and also some truth doing rounds here. So please point us to the specific one.

But apart from FUD, it is also true that Tether has never done an audit to provide proof that their cryptos are backed with USD in 1:1 ratio.

So why are you confirming that Tether is safe and will always remain that way?
2017  Local / India / Re: indian users will be required to keep their coins in exchange. on: December 07, 2021, 05:26:13 PM
I am seeing misleading and confusing information all over the internet. Various media houses are posting garbages to gain more pageviews and creating FUD.

One example: https://m.thewire.in/article/government/indias-proposed-crypto-bill-banning-payments-could-mean-jail-for-violations/amp

This is something new and highly contradictory to all news doing rounds in the market.

So I would say, don't believe these media houses just as yet.
2018  Local / India / Re: Crypto related questions are going to be asked in Winter session of Parliament on: December 03, 2021, 05:48:13 PM
Does anyone here have any idea when will the crypto bill will be placed in this session of Parliament? I was assuming that it will be on the 29th of November but it seems they are busy with other issues. Will the government suddenly place the bill and try to get it to approve swiftly without any discussion? I past they have did the same for some bills.

The crypto bill is the 11th bill in their agenda. So I think early next week this bill will be discussed. I have the link of the agenda,

http://loksabhadocs.nic.in/bull2mk/2021/23.11.21.pdf

This link will download the PDF file from where you can check the details. But unfortunately, no schedule has been given. So it's not clear when it will be discussed.

Hope this helps!

Hey!

Thanks for the detailed information. I am still sceptical if it will be presented in this session of Parliament because of the new COVID19 variant. I might be overreacting but that is what I feel I might be wrong and hope it gets presented this time as it is long due. We as a community need to know what the government is thinking. Finger crossed.

If the bill is not discussed during the current ongoing session, I would say it's a blessing in disguise. Because I am seeing a lot kf conflicting news from various media houses. Some are saying that cryptos will be banned and this bill will create provision for RBI controlled CBDC. Some are saying, it will be regulated and SEBI will be called upon to become the regulatory authority.

So there's a lot of confusion. If the bill isn't discussed now that will probably give us some more months to live our crypto dream.
2019  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Which is best between Metaverse Coin and Web 3.0 Coin on: December 03, 2021, 04:37:23 AM
Invest in Metaverse Coin or Web 3.0 Coin, which coins are included in these which can give good profit in future Tell your opinion

It's too early to say! Web 3.0 is still at a very nascent stage so you can expect a lot of changes in this industry, especially with tech giants like Facebook started preparing for metaverse. So a lot can change from the current situation and things can go upside down.

I have found an article which might interest you. So go ahead and read it,

https://www.fool.com/the-ascent/cryptocurrency/articles/5-top-metaverse-tokens-to-watch/

As of now Axie Infinity seems like a dominant player in this market. It is at 24th position in CMC with a huge market cap. So use your brain and good sense of judgement to go big in this market.
2020  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Banks and Bitcoin- The needed change on: December 02, 2021, 07:08:32 PM
Banks won't disappear anytime soon because people don't like change very much and it takes time to force any kind of lasting change in society.

Some people say that traditional banks will disappear due to the emergence of cryptocurrencies because it gives consumers another option when they need financial assistance; however, I think this is unfounded speculation.

Earlier, people didn't have any other options than banks to save money. Also in many countries, there is a law which prohibits their citizens to keep more than a specific amount of cash at home. So even if someone didn't like banks, they were kind of forced to use their service.

But with the emergence of cryptocurrency, now people have option to keep their money elsewhere. For sure, a majority of the population wouldn't opt from banking, but now they can. It takes time to change social behavior. So may not happen in near future, but banking system will be forced to evolve to suit their customer's need.

This change might be unimaginable right now, but not impossible!
