Are you looking for web design or web programming?

Rarely can one person do both well.

This guy is promoting his affiliate links. Is that allowed here? He should have mentioned that his links were affiliate links and provide optional clean links.

Somebody's jealous

I think it's not wanting this forum to fill up with garbage SPAM.  Of course this person will say the VPS is wonderful if he is getting paid.
20043  Economy / Digital goods / Re: [WTS] Ingress invite on: January 28, 2013, 07:54:29 PM
What price are you looking for?  I'm expecting mine in a week or so - applied 3 weeks ago and it's taking about a month to get one.
20044  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Who wants to buy bitcoingem.com (the website, NOT the gem) on: January 28, 2013, 07:44:07 PM
Hello all,

I'm selling the website www.bitcoingem.com. The gem is in a range now where I begin to feel uncomfortable. Some more iterations and we're talking about thousands of bitcoins – this is getting too hot for me.
Anyone who recently was on the site knows what is going on right now, the price for the gem is about to explode and no one knows where it could go.
The site is on halt right now but can be reactivated anytime.

Anyone who's interested, please PM me. Minimum bet is 300 btc. This offering is valid for 2 hours (9 pm central european time), I will sell to the highest bidder.
Should there be no selling I will close the site and refund the last 2 open payments.

I can transfer the site to your webhost and get it up and running within one hour (PHP and MySQL and a decent server needed).
Or better yet, you take over my account at firehost, which won't interrupt the site's service at all.

If there's any questions, just let me know.

This is just like the million dollar web page.  It was interesting the first time, but people aren't going to do it over and over.  The time for profit has come and gone, and you are just trying to squeeze 300btc from some fool.
20045  Other / Off-topic / Re: Another Bitcoin ponzi scheme... on: January 28, 2013, 04:06:37 PM
This is not a PONZI scheme. This is a kind of PYRAMID scheme. There are too many people using the term ponzi scheme that don't really know what a ponzi scheme is.

There are too many people using the term pyramid scheme that don't understand what it is either.  You don't get a portion of anything each time the gem is sold.

This is a ponzi scheme, since it is using new money to pay old debts.

Religion is like a penis.

It's nice to have one, and you can be proud of it.  But don't whip it out in public and start waving it around.

20048  Economy / Gambling / Re: This is the magnificent bitcoin gem on: January 27, 2013, 05:09:46 PM
Classical pyramid scheme

You don't understand how a pyramid scheme works.

If I were to buy the gem right now, only the previous owner would get coins - not everyone that came before him.

I'm still pretty popular.

Everyone kills everyday just to survive.  Bacteria, insects, plants, cows/pigs/chickens, etc.  The only difference between those creatures and humans is our chemical bond (aka love) between the mother and her offspring.  However those chemicals are not produced until near the end of the pregnancy.  To me there is no difference between killing a fertilized human egg and killing a fertilized chicken egg.  I do feel differently the closer a baby gets to full term however - a fully developed baby is inside the womb should be no different than one outside the womb.

It's the woman's body, so it's her choice.  Anyone who disagrees should be forced to carry an invasive and uncomfortable device on their body against their will for nine months, then be subjective to some torture and mutilation at the end.
20051  Other / Off-topic / Re: iPhone or Android? on: January 26, 2013, 08:56:47 PM
Apple is good for people who don't understand technology and don't need too much customization.  It just works.

Android is good for people who like to have more control over their phones.

Hey isis,

I am a graphic designer and web designer and I have a degree in graphic design/advertising. My rates are the equivalent of $14.00/hr in bitcoin (with the crazy fluctuation lately it makes it hard to state price in btc). Please check out my signature to see some of my work and if you're interested please let me know. I am available most days in the next 6 months since I work from home as a freelance graphic/web designer currently.

A degree in graphic design?  Never heard of that before.  Do you mean a diploma?

Yep. My degree is in graphic design and advertising. I have a second degree in studio art as well, though not as useful it was only a few more classes for a degree in both fields.

I just checked it out.  Wow, times really have changed since I went to university!

I'm going to have to side with gweedo as well... ASP.NET is horrible for scaling. Not technically, although the things POF.com have had to do to make it run well are pretty damning, but financially. A startup could really put to better use the $800 spent on each Windows Server license, not to mention the $2500+ for a MSSQL server (1 core!!!) license. Even their bizspark stuff has costs looming in the future. Also, for a Bitcoin web site you don't want to touch Azure for security reasons (at least not for the backend.)

ASP.NET is precompiled, so it will always be faster than php.

You don't need to spend any money up front when developing in .NET technologies.  You can use encryption on Azure, and scale as you need to.

Who is going to take the advice of a man who's icons is a fat nibble licker.

Thanks. but no thanks.

Not offering advice - just facts.   Wink

Why was this thread ignored?  Seems clear to me.
20056  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [BOUNTY 5BTC] Graphics for NEW Bitcoin Social Network on: January 26, 2013, 05:10:10 PM
I'm not a designer, but IMO if you're looking for that kind of quality, and there is only a chance you will pay for a particular piece of artwork, you need to offer a lot more than 5btc as a bounty.  No designer that can do that kind of artwork will do it on the off chance they will get $100.

Windows has nothing to do with the POST process.

If it's not making any kind of beeps or anything, first guess is your PSU is dead (even though lights are turning on). Try and swap it out with a known-good one. After that, it's real troubleshooting.

Or the motherboard could be fried.
20059  Other / Off-topic / Re: How did this guy get a scammer tag? on: January 26, 2013, 01:53:53 AM

You can delete every one of your posts, and be left with 0.  You just have to do it before you get the tag.
20060  Other / Off-topic / Re: BitTorrent Sync - distributed file synchronization, unlimited storage on: January 25, 2013, 11:58:12 PM

I read that earlier.

I'm missing something - how can they offer unlimited storage without putting it on third party hardware?
