20161  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Whats the point.... on: November 27, 2013, 08:00:21 PM
The alts are like penny stocks now. Once the masses get wind of how much can be made here then everyone is going to want a piece of the action. Once that happens those penny stocks are going to skyrocket. Its already happening.

This is exactly it. It's really worth slinging a bit of cash into the up and coming altcoins if you can afford it, just in case they ever gain momentum.

I just think the world would benefit more if the majority would stick with bitcoin to lead the revolution

Well, the majority kinda is sticking with Bitcoin which is leading the revolution.

Competition is also good, and as with all currencies they are only worth what people are prepared to to buy/sell/swop/use 'em for.

20163  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin will hit the $1000USD mark before the day ends! on: November 27, 2013, 07:35:27 PM
would it recommended to buy a bitcoin now? on Coinbase, it takes 4 business days (so on Dec. 4 you get your bitcoin?)...that's risky huh?

Don't buy on a new high. Give it a day or two and see where it's at then. When It hit 900 last week it quickly plummeted back down soon after.

A day or two is long time in bitcoin lately  Tongue

Tell me about it. It's even longer when you're constantly checking markets and refreshing pages.
20164  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Where can I sell BBQCoin? on: November 27, 2013, 07:25:40 PM

Haha. I'll offer 2 BBW coins or 1 lolcoin.
20165  Economy / Speculation / Re: Taking a loan to buy bitcoin on: November 27, 2013, 07:23:55 PM
Some rich people hoard money but that works out ok. People are always buying, selling and trading with BTC even if there's probably more hoarders than spenders, but put it like this: at some point those hoarders - myself included - are going to want to cash out or spend 'em on some physical product. Personally, I'd rather hold on to my bitcoins now because the gamble may be the difference between buying a car now or a brand new house in the future. It's true that they could become worthless or worth less, but I'm willing to take that gamble. You could also spend and save a bit, it's not exclusively one or the other. It's definitely wise to save onto your coins right now until the currency stabilises though.

I think this is kind of a misconception about the wealthy; I know Scrooge McDuck hoarded all his money in a swimming pool, but this isn`t typical behavior. Most wealthy people likely keep a small amount in liquid assets, like a checking account. Most of their money is tied up in investments such as bonds and stocks or more illiquid forms such as businesses or real estate. If they kept all their money in cash, they either are drug dealers or had a lucky windfall and probably won`t stay wealthy for long.

Well I did say some rich Wink

bar b q coin? You can't be serious. This is a real thing?

Pretty sure that's what everybody thinks the first time the hear it. Some of these names really don't do cryptocurrencies any favours.
20167  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Where can I sell BBQCoin? on: November 27, 2013, 07:01:46 PM
Yeah, I got 1000 for free though, and they are worth about $60, so I want to use them somewhere Smiley

Where are you getting that valuation from? Why don't you try sell 'em on the marketplace here or swap 'em for another currency?
20168  Economy / Speculation / Re: Taking a loan to buy bitcoin on: November 27, 2013, 06:57:37 PM
I borrowed $ in the 200's because I wasn't satisfied with my position and knew we would obliterate 266. I would be a lot more nervous about doing that now, but if you have the balls to hold it long term I'd say go for it.

Of course, I'm young and have no dependents. If bitcoin somehow fails my life will not end.

if everyone had the "balls " to hold it long term and nobody spends any at the retailers that are accepting it
i dont see how it can succeed as a currency

everyone cant just hoard coins and hope they will be worth millions at some future date

20171  Economy / Goods / Re: Cannabis seeds on: November 27, 2013, 06:30:01 PM
Wtf Cannabis is illegal in Bulgaria Cool

A seed is not cannabis, it´s a seed.
A cannabis seed does not contains any THC.

Wait, how do you get/make a seed without the plant?
Wouldn't he need to (illegally) grow the plant in order to harvest and sell the seeds legally?

Hello, sorry for delay, not having lot of time now, hope will have at the end of the week Smiley And in answer to your statement i would say that nobody knows which is first the chicken or the egg  Cool

The plants/seeds are grown and produced in a country where it's legal to do so, then the seeds are legally shipped to other countries and sold. No laws are broken unless the person who bought the seeds germinates/grows them in a country where it's illegal to do so.

Oh okay that sounds alright.

There's always loopholes; you just gotta find em.

I've initially came to this crypto world with intention to mine, but I see I can't mine most with this hardware.
Then I thought about buying some LTC; but didn't when I was supposed to. That turned out stupid Cheesy

Now I have some numbers of FTC and hoping for the best.
Still exploring mining.

Cheers

FTC has seen a steady rise over the past couple of weeks. I'm backing it.

How much will that cost? I wanted to see 'em riding in it. Don't know how stable it'll be with people in it though.

No, but if you're in Cedarville, Ohio this guy will accept 'em: http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB10001424052702304607104579210051252568362

You can try sell on their forum: http://bbqcoin.org/

You need to build up some rep/trust first. I doubt anybody is going to want to take the risk or escrowing with you yet.

20176  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to safely sell Bitcoins on eBay? on: November 27, 2013, 05:34:39 PM
They could, but that's a less common route of scam. Much more common is the chargeback. You are protected from chargebacks so long as you have proof of delivery. SNADs are harder than INRs to disprove.

I guess people also don't want to commit fraud/theft when they've given their home address out. Chargebacks still scare me though.

Ebay really needs to develop its own escrow service for dealing in cryptos. They're seriously missing out on a lot of cash.
20177  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to safely sell Bitcoins on eBay? on: November 27, 2013, 05:16:49 PM
I lost over $800 to scams on ebay a year back or so.
Paypal will NOT accept transaction IDs as valid proof of delivery.
If you want to sell coin, you need to ship a tangible item.
Most of the good sellers send a physical slip with a keypair address on it to the buyer, via delivery confirmed USPS.

What's to stop them claiming there was no paper wallet in the letter and still get a refund?
20178  Economy / Speculation / Re: Taking a loan to buy bitcoin on: November 27, 2013, 05:12:24 PM
Taking out a loan to speculate with is adding another risk onto an even bigger risk. If you lose your coin or the value plummets will you be able to repay the loan with your regular income or whatever? If you can and a loan is the only way you can get money together quick, the gamble is up to you.

20179  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How to safely sell Bitcoins on eBay? on: November 27, 2013, 04:55:10 PM
Anyone know of a secure way to sell bitcoins on eBay?  I'm thinking about selling mine in small denominations to increase profit, but I am worried about going through PayPal.  Is accepting MoneyPak safe/non-reversible?  I have been scammed once on eBay buying bitcoins and I am not going to let it happen again.  Thanks for any input.

How did you get scammed buying BTC on ebay?

How small are the denominations? If it's tiny amounts for a few dollars then most scammers will leave you alone. Just make sure you state they can only buy one at a time and must leave feedback after each successful purchase before they can buy another. There are ways to significantly minimise getting scammed, but it's never gonna be 100% foolproof, so it's up to you whether you take the risks. One thing to note is the mark up on selling coins on ebay is huge, so even if you have a few chargebacks/disputes you still might be in profit, so that's worth considering.
20180  Economy / Speculation / Re: Greed kills or simple rules for your success on: November 27, 2013, 04:37:10 PM

- Never spend more than you afford to lose. It may kill you. This is the main rule.

- Never treat bitcoin as get rich quick scheme. Get ready to wait at least a year before you see gains.

First is standard, and I agree with the first half of the second point, but I've made 8 times my money in less than three months. People could still get rich in the same amount of time now, but then I'd refer back to your first point.

Don't you remember April 2013 ?
I know many people who spent everything at over $200, and after "crash" they dumped it at half price.

I wasn't watching the markets in April. BTC was only a blip in my radar then.
