I believe the price continues to fall because the real investors are seeing Bitcoin in the news 24/7 but it is to do with drugs and hacking and not something to benefit them. I personally know a number of people who cashed out after the whole Roger episode .
Bitcoin news only having to do with drugs? Hacking? Why are they watching the news from 2011-2013?? Just wait until the next boom cycle, when FOX "news" sets their sights on the new threat to the oligarchy.

420 is the basement, we're there. Nowhere to go but up.

Thank you weak hands!
Hold for 8-10 years, billionaire. Congrats

Could bitcoins ever replace conventional money? How safe would these transactions be from being scammed?
I wouldn't ask the question "if" crypto will replace fiat money, I would ask the question, "WHEN" will crypto render fiat obsolete?

Because Bitcoin is a deflationary currency, In 20yrs time, people getting in now might be deemed early adopters.
Correct. "Early" is relative. Although most people getting into Bitcoin today probably don't feel like "early adopters", that will certainly change in five or ten years time, when they will have been the first 0.5% of the population involved in the new form of money. ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2FSYVufah.png&t=663&c=TPStSUXfRKgQRw)

Is writing history books for infant technologies (5 yrs old) the new thing now?

Hm... why do you think PoW is one of bitcoins greatest strengths? It feels stupid to pay miners... Great. Let us know when you invent a source of infinite free energy. Until then electricity - and therefore mining (= securing the network) - costs money. ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fd2tq98mqfjyz2l.cloudfront.net%2Fimage_cache%2F1252455467559038.jpeg&t=663&c=xLDfPeV1SUi7OA)

So the story is that someone came from the future created established bitcoin and went back to the future to get his/her big fat check. Hell yeah, I would watch that film. Maybe add some apocalyptic scenario at the end like the Paycheck
No, I think Satoshi's "first" future was the apocalyptic world, that's why he travelled back in time. See, in Satoshi's timeline, Bitcoin hadn't been invented before the extremely violent fiat economic collapse. Billions were killed in the nuclear war that followed. So he traveled back in time to invent bitcoin 30 years before the collapse, creating a new timeline free from the apocalypse of his childhood. Maybe throw some aliens in there just to mix it up.

Only a time traveller would make a currency where You and Stryker are making a classic mistake. You're starting from the conclusion you want, and then working backwards to speculate on potential evidence for this conclusion. That's putting the cart before the horse. You start with the evidence you see, and then work forwards towards probable conclusions.

Satoshi could be a man like Tesla.. that would amazing for us. Men like Tesla come around once every 100 years.
I don't think so. The idea of decentralized network at its core was the real innovation, and that wasn't Satoshi. That came from the developers of the HTTP protocol back in the early 90s. The public ledger itself already existed in the form of torrent technology. Satoshi only built upon that already-existing technological foundation, adding encryption and solving the Byzantine General's problem. Brilliant? yes, perhaps even genius. But Satoshi is certainly standing on the shoulders of giants.

This PoW algorithm is not only for security, but also for distribution and adoption. While the time scale may be non-optimum, I believe the logic is sound. I don't think Satoshi anticipated it would catch on so quickly. I think Satoshi was/is betting that humanity would figure out the transition to crypto one way or another. Deception has overwhelmed truth for a long time in our society, but the dawn of the information age has been rapidly flipping that dynamic on its head. The tide is coming in now, as it always does. This will be remembered as the decade in which the masters of deception* were buried beneath their crumbling Sandcastle of Lies. *banksters and their polit puppet pals

Just because you were ignorant of all the economic and technical brainstorming lead up to Bitcoin, over the course of decades, doesn't mean Satoshi was a time traveller. This. Superstition is the end of reason. You know, the intellectual difference between a person of median IQ and a chimpanzee is actually less than the difference between a person of median IQ and a genius (150+ stanford-binet IQ). Consider the implications - Satoshi is almost a different species of primate from average folk.

![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=https%3A%2F%2Fi.imgur.com%2F9Z7iYtU.png&t=663&c=m1_W60FCiwFV3A) Success Council is a scam organization that wants nothing other than your money. They market themselves as a way to "protect your money", sound familiar? Yeah, it's the same service banks offered in the earliest days of banking. They are not even the first PoW trolls. These clowns are implying Bitcoin's SHA256 security isn't already good enough. This guy says Bitcoin holders pay for mining through inflation, but that's not what's happening. Without the miners, the bitcoin network has ZERO security and we all lose our coins anyway. Basically this clown thinks he is smarter than Satoshi, if he really is there's nothing stopping him from creating his own altcoin that will be superior. So why doesn't he do that? Because he's full of shit.

This happened back in Feb people...old news brought to the surface because of the coroners report.
Yes, I remember reading about this months ago. So is this thread just rehashing old news for FUD purposes or what?
|
|
|
i read threads like this and immediately think the price must have dropped 10-90%...
.. i then find out it has only dropped 2%
will you bunch of panicking noobs please stop shouting about price drops every time it moves a fraction.
When you see a thread like this, flag as speculation and move on. Fastest way to get rid of it.

A solar flare could easily wipe out Bitcoin, which relies on electricity.
I think that a copy will survive, somewhere - somehow. And we can rebuild. How much vinyl would it take to record the blockchain? What about magnetic tape, 80s style?
