2021  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Free Bitcoin directory script on: August 09, 2013, 08:50:41 AM
Having 100 copycat directory sites doesn't solve much, in fact it probably creates more problems in that you're promoting less resources concentrated to each directory site.

What is really needed is a way for your open source directory to easily link to other instances of itself so disparate directory owners can "link up" and share/merge listings between each other.  Maybe some Json RPC interface or something.

He's providing a base script like many other scripts. People need to change design themselves and use it for different niche.

Does anybody know a good alternative for Lavabit?

I'd like a free (or cheap Bitcoin-paid  Cool ) e-mail service which is
* reliable (running for at least a couple of years with very little downtime)
* has reasonable support
* is dedicated to privacy
* has no ties to the United States
* is preferably operated by people who are part of geek / free software / crypto culture
* has preferably only a low level of advertisement annoyance

You can use Chinese/Russian email services. Like qqmail and mail.ru

Theymos you should do something about scammers, peoples are still getting scammed as sometimes they don't check Trust ratings and from outside members profile looks fine even with negative rating.

2028  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scammed by john_nalpa on: August 08, 2013, 06:56:19 PM
Seeing that he seems to be doing this even after being given bad feedback (why does nobody check that?!?), I've marked him as a scammer to prevent more money down the drain....

Members have to click on "Show Ratings" button to see that and i guess a lot members don't do that.

Thanks for the clarification.  However, would this sort of attack still trigger Blockchain to send me the SMS code like they did 3 minutes before funds were transfered.

Attacker probably tried to login on blockchain first and later used your wallet backup.

I just realised I'm in the default trust list  Cool

Not entirely sure why. But great!

No you are not, you are in theymos's Trust List.

You should sell on bitmit.net or use escrow.  Goodluck.

Yeah I found that selling thing too.
Are there really no mods here who help with this kind of thing. IP checks and whatnot.  It just seems so shit that scams are so easily donecandvare allowed ton continue undeterred

Mod's can't check ip address etc, only admins can.  Sad

2036  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: 40 BTC Gone - Please Help Me Understand What Happened on: August 07, 2013, 05:57:27 PM
Have you imported any publicly known addresses into your wallet rather than sweep them? I lost 45 BTC once due to that mistake.

I'm sorry, can you explain what that means?  I've tried to learn as much as I can about this stuff, but I'm still effectively a beginner.

He means, did you used some old wallet address by importing private key or sweeped your funds to new address on blockchain.info.

Ps: did you downloaded some app on your pc, or given access to someone else?
or did you sent backup to your email?
Maybe your email etc got compromised.
2037  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to remove default trust list? on: August 07, 2013, 03:27:38 PM
I tried doing that, but "DefaultTrust" just reappears after I hit update. Do I have to replace it with someone else's name?

Oh yes someone's name is necessary.

Guess what doesn't mines litecoins ? Your block erupter.  Grin
Quote
Guess what doesn't take even MORE power, heat, noise from trying to mine scrypt instead of SHA-256 and causing more crashes?  My Block Erupter
After countless hours of tuning a multi-family (Tahiti and Cypress) GPU rig for scrypt I give up.  It's too unstable.  It uses even more power, causing the heat to go through the roof and the fans get pegged at my limit of 88%.  The hashrate is 15% less on my rig due to the multi-family GPU issues.  Even though a lot of the scrypt coins I was mining were 200% more profitable, it just wasn't worth the work and crashing.

That was joke post and yeah i agree, block erupters are really amazing.
