2021  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Was the coupling of Bitcoin to fiat a mistake? on: July 14, 2022, 04:16:15 PM
If it wasn't for fiat then it would have been something else but there would have definitely been something or the other which bitcoin would have been paired to.
So in the mean time bitcoin was created fiat was already used as a wide means of payment mechanism.
Instead of pairing bitcoin with any other asset or good it would have been more convenient to pair it with fiat itself.
It would avoid the hassle involved to trade it with a physical good or asset.
2022  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: James Webb & Bitcoin/ Sending bitcoins to the first alien on: July 14, 2022, 03:43:32 PM
LOL, there are so many flaws I don't even want to go deep into it. But just the thought of sending bitcoins to an alien makes me wonder why would anybody even do that.
Firstly we don't even if the aliens would even consider gold as a precious metal. May be their planet has an abundance of gold and it's more or same like rocks in their planet.
So it's not necessary what's precious here needs to be precious there too. Everything gets changed once we leave the planet.
The laws of cosmic space are outside our perspective of what it can be.
2023  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and the future of crypto 10 years from now. on: July 14, 2022, 02:51:19 PM
Bitcoin is the best coin in crypto and as the years passed by there are a lot of coins (altcoins) that is more profitable in terms of investment on both short and long term process, in you're future sights and speculation of btc based on some good promising projects that is now scattering and has a posibility to move to next level in the near future, Can there will be a coin that can manage to surpass btc 10 years from now?

As we can see that it has already been more than 10 years since the existence of bitcoin and no other coin has even come closer to it even once.
Also, the marketcap of bitcoin is around 40% from the total markecap. This shows how much trust people have on bitcoin.
With these facts I can personally say that even in the next 10 years there won't be any coin that can come closer to bitcoin.
2024  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Threshold of Loss in Gambling on: July 13, 2022, 04:07:26 PM
Almost every gambler would have faced this. For me it was around 2 years ago when I was gambling at various sites.
I was chasing my wins and in the process made many losses. It was one of those times that I realized this is the limit.
After that I pretty much placed small bets and never crosses my threshold ever again.

16xypjnxlrew, you seem somehow obsessed with that guy, why?

16xypjnxlrew is just a moronic troll. I put on ignore months ago and I'd recommend you all do the same. You'll never get back the time you waste reading his posts.

Can someone please explain this to me ?
I just bought 2500 FUN tokens on 9th of this month but it is 12th today and it's still not showing the tokens on premium member benefits page.

The 9th was the day that we had a database crash. Some buys/sells, deposits and withdrawals from that day aren't reflected in users' balances. PM me your user ID and I'll pass it on to wetsuit for him to fix it.

Also just a general point. Some people got emails about saving redeems being credited but they are just duplicates of old redemptions caused by the database restore process. Nothing is actually missing from those.

Thanks for the reply. I have sent you a PM with my user id in it.
Just asking, will I get the credit of WoF spins from 10th or will it just start over by tomorrow may be.

Also, I don't think I am receiving the extra WoF spin as well. Below are the screenshots.

Note: I already have 2500 FUN tokens locked which is a separate thing.

2027  Local / India / Re: TDS on Cryptocurrencies [Explained] on: July 11, 2022, 03:14:26 AM
The worst part about TDS applicability put in by the government is that even if you are an individual who is not involved in any kind of business and profession and is just doing cryptos for investment or even fun has to deduct TDS while buying/ selling the coin and deposit it with the government. In case of exchanges it was easier as the burden to comply with all the statutory norms was on the shoulders of the government but in the case of individuals, it will be on people which will obviously reduce their enthusiasm to do crypto trading. I feel this law can be crypto killer in India.

If you do the research you will find that the government of India are bringing these laws towards crypto so that they can discourage crypto trading/investments in India.
First they bought the 30% taxation law and then they bought the 1% TDS and rumors are there that they are about to bring 28% additional tax as GST on crypto.
So all of these are steps that the government of India is taking to eliminate crypto from India.
Yes I understand it's too demoralise the people involved in crypto trading and trying to stop them some way or the other. GST won't come in don't worry. Atleast not on the trades being made through exchanges, it makes zero sense to bring GST on whole selling proceeds, even if this law comes in it would definitely be challenged in the court of law for sure and will make more of mockery of the government, the GST could be charged on commission or brokerage but not on the total value of sales because then government will have to allow input credit on value of purchase as well which will only increase their own headache.

I am not so wise when it comes to taxation but when I pay my monthly internet bill, an amount of 18% GST is added to the total bill.
So wouldn't the government impose GST on the total sale ? I wish that doesn't happen but asking it just for more clarity.
2028  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Never sell for a loss - is a Myth !! on: July 11, 2022, 03:05:21 AM
Certainly a myth and wouldn't follow such a bold statement, may be applicable for Bitcoin or Ethereum, but definitely not for altcoins. I sold Fantom at a loss a few months ago and if I hadn't, I would have lost more than 70% of my investment. The same thing goes for UST/Terra, I sold at $0.90 only for it to proceed and crash a few hours later.

You must be luck enough in that case because you sold UST right before the eternal collapse.
Even I had invested in Fantom but not really much. I haven't sold any of my coins as of now.
I don't really have an option now since it looks like we are at a bottom. Selling now would be a big mistake.
2029  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: Hopefully someone can help on: July 10, 2022, 01:37:00 PM
Good afternoon, recently I came into possession of 4 "Antminer" devices and to be honest I dont know anything about them and I am honestly just looking to sell them. I am not sure of what they go for and thats mainly the help im looking for. They are brand new still in the box with plastic and Styrofoam. the info in which I have is as follows

Model 240-Zz Version Z15-j

is there any other information thats needed?

thanks again everyone

Isn't it quite simple. Just search for your model of antminer online and find it's current price.
According to that you can fix a price you want to sell for and then from the local borad enter your country's board.
In the local marketplace section you can put up a post saying you want to sell these devices for this price.
Interested people will reply to the post. You can also put the devices for sell in any app/website that your country has for marketplace.
2030  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: How I Almost Gave Scammers Access To My wallet This Morning. on: July 10, 2022, 01:18:05 PM
This happens to me almost every time when I enter something into the chat of any telegram group.
All of a sudden I see multiple groups with the same telegram group name. LOL  Grin
On many occasions there are also people from their support team who are very concerned about my issue that I posted on the group.
But I know that all of it are a scam so I just ignore them and sometimes when I am bored I reply them back to have some fun with them.
Most of them just leaves the chat abruptly deleting the converstion  Grin
Make it a habit to question every platform/website and check if they are genuine or not.
2031  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Collisions on private addresses? Balances? on: July 10, 2022, 01:04:14 PM
As far as I know, it's almost impossible to find out a public address which has some BTC balance on it.
Generating a private address and then it's public key and then it's public address takes some computational power.
Current computing powers would take it years before you find some address with balance on it.
Super computers might help in this case but then who would give us that access to a super computer.
Even a super computer would take ample amount of time to find an address with a balance on it.
2032  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: A newbie with 100$ on: July 10, 2022, 12:49:56 PM
In this bear market, does 100$ on Ethereum or Bitcoin make any difference? As a newbie who have only 100$ to risk is this even enough? Can this get me anywhere?

Lets say the bear market will soon over and even if we go bullish what are your expected returns ?
Even if ETH goes 2x or 3x from the current price that would give you just $200 or $300.
So now you can ask yourself whether these returns are sufficient for you or not.
If yes, then go ahead with the investment. Besides that $100 is not such a big amount you can very well risk it for the sake of getting involved in crypto.
2033  Economy / Gambling / Re: Stake making new accounts is too easy on: July 10, 2022, 12:35:39 PM
OP seems to be an addict because he is keeping on creating new accounts while he still wants to stop gambling.
He wants to get himself banned but he's using the wrong way to stop gambling.
Telling others on stake that he's using VPN and is 16 gives out a bad impression on others.
In fact he is in a way encouraging others to do the same things. OP should stop doing these activities.
obviously he is a perfect example of an addicted gambler , he even admitted everything that he is doing , from pretending to be a Minor, and even telling the site that he is using VPN , this is a clear proof that he is having a mental problem towards gambling.
and also seems like he is making this story against Stake.com? because why continuously creating account in Stake.com when there are many gambling site that he can try and play?

I think he's just bored... I don't know how he doesn't hate opening new mail and casino accounts every time? He probably has too much free time and a lot of energy that he spends on stupid things, as we can see. It would be better for him to look for something smarter to do, something useful that could fulfill him! If he keeps banging his head against the wall, he will hurt himself!

Obviously he has a lot of free time as he mentioned he's just 16. I think he's not even placing any major bets because that would require a big deposit.
So creating multiple accounts he is just abusing the system on Stake platform.
As long as he is not depositing any big amount he's good but once he deposits a big amount I think Stake will try to freeze his money.
This will teach him a lesson may be.
2034  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Am I doing the right thing on: July 09, 2022, 02:04:23 PM
How can a newbie invest in good altcoins? I know about BTC and ETH but I think I can make more money from altcoins instead of BTC and ETH, I did my research and I have a few projects in mind but I don't know if they are worthy..

Avalanche, Mina protocol, Phala network and Aleph Zero to name a few

You are already doing the right things here. The first and foremost thing is to do the research on your own.
You have done your part and selected a few coins. The next step is to get peer reviews and this forum is the best place for that.
Read what others have to say but don't get influenced by any of them. Think about it and then make your decision based on facts and figures.

From your list my best pic would be Avalanche.
2035  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Roller coasters!!! on: July 09, 2022, 02:02:01 PM
Whales are definitely there in BTC and ETH market but it doesn't mean that their influence will large impact the price of bitcoin or ethereum.
Ofcourse many people hold large amounts of BTC and ETH but at the same time the marketcap is huge enough to not make very huge difference.
It might create a spike then and there and they might be able to create a minor dump but what happens at such huge levels are not manipulations afterall.
We need to see the charts at higher time frame to indicate whether it is a manipulation or a trend reversal.
2036  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How trading during bear market can save your portfolio on: July 09, 2022, 01:31:14 PM
Let us assume you invested $190 when bitcoin price was at $19000. The price of bitcoin presently is $21000. The asset worth from $19000 to $21000 is $210. The profit gained is $20. The percentage gained is still approximately 9.5%.

To buy at low price and sell at high price is good, but holding longer for months or like 2 or more years may earn more profit after bear market, instead of swing trading after long time of having your asset in fiat or stable coin.
Yeah right. It only takes one wrong trade and that takes away most of the profit that we could make just by holding the coin.
We think its the right time to sell but then the next week the prices are so high that we miss the boat.
Trading is not for everyone at least not for me. Investing and holding on to it on the other side is so calm and gets you mass profits.
This has happened to me a lot of times before. I have traded or held a lot of coins back in my day and still doing it, but when I started trading some of that, I have lost so much time to time, earned a lot as well I can't lie, so it's fine but those times when I lost, took a lot of the profit part of it back. Yes, I believe that it is very important for people to realize how important your profits are and how quickly they could go away.

Just focus on making as much money as you could, or just give up, because you can't really find anything else that would be as troublesome as the feeling of a loss for futile attempt. Just useless loss you could have avoided.

That part hit me hard. I just remember how 10 months back most of us had a big portfolio and how holding on to it made it comparatively so less now.
But again, things could have gone the other way around and so I am not complaining holding on to my coins because there's no loss until we sell at a loss.
May be this time we buy more at these prices and accumulate more so that holding on to it till the new ATH we get a lot more profits than we could.

Just logged in to my freebitco.in account and noticed that I accumulated 39 spins. Spinned them all and got a lucky reward of 5000 lottery tickets along with other base rewards.

Then my eyes got attracted to this banned.

I couldn't help myself but bought 2500 FUN tokens more so that I can get 6 WoF spins from tomorrow  Grin Grin

It means that to have 6 WoF spins you have to hold them for sometime and I doubt that you will get 6 from the next day,by that banner Freebitco.in always tells us the amount of FUN tokens needed to reach the next level but it also list the benefits of that level for people who hold the FUN tokens for 360 days, and it does not the benefits for the next day.

Nevertheless buying FUN tokens is always a good idea,as by holding them for 1 months,3 months,6 months and 1 year the number of our daily spin increases, while we may also benefit from a huge rise in the price of Bitcoin and getting 2 for the price of 1.

How come I didn't think of it. Buying 2500 FUN tokens just gives you a start of 1 WoF spin.
So buying it now would add 1 WoF spin to my existing ones. Why do Freebitco.in advertise it in this way then.
Although I am not complaining because I would still get the spin after holding it for a while but don't you think it's more like a clickbait.
2038  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: My Recent Experience at a Land-Based Casino on: July 09, 2022, 01:21:48 PM
I recently visited a land-based casino after a long time to gamble, have some drinks and enjoy live music with a couple of my good buddies. Not long after we settled in, we heard one of the casino workers yelling at one of the gamblers. He said, "Sir please you have to leave now. You come here every day and you keep losing. Please be considerate of your wife and your newborn babies." The backstory is that this particular man is a very popular gambler at the casino not because of his winnings but because he keeps losing. Despite his losses, he would return to the casino the next day to gamble. From the story, his wife had just been delivered with twins. I would later find out that the casino worker is his nephew.

If you were the casino manager would you fire the casino worker for interfering with your business or would you ban the gambler from visiting the casino?

Considering the case I would definitely ban the gambler because losing one gambler won't make that huge of a difference than losing an honest employee.
Also, I would be rather happy to know the fact that the employee really is concerned about the gambler and so wants him to stop gambling.

As a manager then you wont really be seeing this situation to be good for the business but for some natural humanitarian act or being just too concern then it would really be considerable.
Even myself would definitely not make out any decision against the worker who do show off some concern but it would definitely tell him that it would be better if those advises would really
be said on a silent or private way on which it wont really be getting much  attention around or insider the casino. Its really natural for us to make out such reaction specially if we do see
that it is one of our relative or loved ones who are on such situation.Getting concern would really be that a human instinct behavior.

I would agree to your point of telling the worker to say the same thing in private instead in front of everyone.
This might create unwanted attention from other gamblers as well. May be the others start thinking about their families too.
This might steal away some of the business from the casino.

2040  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Small Investors and Whales Still Believe in Bitcoin, Big Purchases This Month on: July 08, 2022, 04:27:32 PM
If small investors still believe in Bitcoin, it sheds a signal that we don't get a bottom range yet. The psychological cycle of market is repeated and bear market only comesto the end if small investors give up and feel very anger.

I think Bitcoin is in accumulation, not side way for a good bounce in a few months. After that, we will see another dump to wash out most of small investors. After a wash out, the market will have a long side-way to wash out rest of small investors. It will be very long waiting time to see ending of this bear market.

I wish that's not true but sadly the fact is that the whales make the most of their money by manipulating the small investors.
I strongly feel that the current increase in price of bitcoin might also be a manipulation by the whales to trap the small investors and suck their money.
It would take a long time before see BTC going bullish this time.
