2041  Economy / Reputation / Re: Can someone with data crunching skills help me out with account linkage? on: August 22, 2021, 01:07:56 AM
I would say three are farmed:

Luke Jackson

Ryder Kudrow

Dax Robinson

All three woke up on the same day and previously, all three became inactive within a ~36 hour period.
2042  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why hoard Bitcoin? on: August 22, 2021, 12:30:56 AM
Bitcoin is a coin stored for a long time, if you want to hold it for a long time then you can definitely invest on bitcoin. It is profitable to invest in Bitcoin with all other coins.

I can see why you've never received even one merit with a post such as that.

While it's true Bitcoin can be stored for a long time, it should be noted that doing so reduces the amount of crypto in circulation (supply and demand, less bitcoin = higher prices) the only trouble with that is *how* do you store your crypto safely into the future?  You may have a fool proof method of storage of the privkey (fire/weather/corrosion proof etc) only to discover your wallet address is obsolete with legacy wallet address having been written out of the code.  (then there's the various forked coins already in circulation - one of those might become the dominant crypto of choice)

Storing long term is one thing, recovering might be something else entirely.
2043  Economy / Services / Re: [LIST] HQ posters renting out their signatures, avatars and personal text. on: August 21, 2021, 07:06:15 AM
Hello again,

I was just wondering if it was this thread or another thread I asked about somehow calling the BPIP values for my merit in the last 120 days (currently, a modest 81) in much the same way as the @LoyceV values for trust feedback can be obtained via images e.g. ??

I've occasionally updated my post here and vaguely recall asking about it one other time, but can't recall what the outcome was.  If there is, I could use it for a spread sheet I use from time to time too.
2044  Other / Meta / Re: [WALL OF FAME] ᗌ Save your Postcount - Milestones ᗏ on: August 21, 2021, 06:53:01 AM
Today I reached a new milestone with a total of 2222 post.

Just now I am at 7,777 posts!

Next up on my travels, I plan on stopping in at 7,890 posts, then it's onto a whole eight thousand posts (not counting those that have been (*cough*) deleted.
2045  Economy / Economics / Re: Why would people ever use bitcoin if its expected to always go up? on: August 20, 2021, 05:06:40 PM
Assuming the cost of transaction fees continues to remain at it's current lowest prices, if you were wanting to make a $100 purchase, then you buy $100 worth of bitcoin (probably a tiny bit more to cover subsequent TX fees) then make your purchase of a $100 item.

Essentially, it doesn't matter what the price of bitcoin is if you buy BTC then spend that BTC more or less straight away.
2046  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH high gas fee on: August 20, 2021, 04:59:42 PM
Do you think it is really worthy for all the time? We need a permanent solution. It's really a insane thing if we think about the gas fees of Ethereum. As a alternative, Bsc is doing really great.

I gave ETH a wide miss when they did their roll back of the block chain and had that subsequent skisim that resulted in a fork (correction).  Recently, I've tried to buy a couple of new Tokens on the ERC20 chain and found the price to buy was cheep, but then the TX (GAS) fees made the price to buy cost prohibitive.
2047  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: [Aug 2021] Mempool empty! Use this opportunity to Consolidate your small inputs! on: August 20, 2021, 05:31:41 AM
Do you have any rule of thumb to know when to consolidate?

...

Should I wait until I have 8-10 inputs? If I wait that long maybe the fees have skyrocketed.

It really depends on how large the amounts are in your wallet (i.e. dust or bags?)  It also depends greatly on what you want to do with the funds - buy one big ticket item, or a few smaller items.

Specifically, if you want to buy an item that requires two or three of your deposits, ask yourself if you want to consolidate all transactions at the same time (and probably move to new wallet addresses while you are at it), or just pay the bare minimum and pay for the item and have one even smaller transaction in your wallet.

The Storm won their 19th game in a row last night with a 34 - 20 win against the Titans who it has to be said managed to put in a fairly decent defending game of their own.

Maddick ready to tackle NRLW challenge after touch triumphs

One of the best things about rugby league is the many forms it comes in and the varied opportunity people have to get involved through tackle, touch and tag versions of the sport.

These different versions of rugby league also present another pathway and in the women’s game we have seen many exceptional touch footy players try their hand at the contact version of the game including Tamika Upton, Tarryn Aiken and Maddie Studdon.

Otherwise, slapping others with negatives from on high can be construed as being unwarranted, or indeed bullying.
I'm talking about excluding them from your trust list, not about leaving negative feedback. I thought we'd been over the differences often enough by now.
Let me put it this way:
Trust list exclusion: decentralized voting.
Negative feedback: public shaming.

No.

No we haven't.

Did you really misunderstand what I just wrote?  It seems you did.

We are talking about the DT trust system.  (the subject of this thread as it happens)

What do you think we are talking about?
2050  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [BPIP] Bitcointalk Public Information Project [Back in Action] on: August 19, 2021, 05:35:35 PM
Posts that have been deleted by a user (such as yourself in your self-moderated threads) haven't been counted for a while now.
Those actions don't show in modlog.

Quote
When Lauda went on a deletion spree a while ago, those deleted posts were counted.
How would BPIP even know those posts were deleted?

No idea - my questions to the BPIP get mostly toxic responses at the best of times, so perhaps you might have better luck gleaning information from them.  All I can do is continue to call things as I see them.

Warts and all.
2051  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lightning Network Observer on: August 19, 2021, 05:15:47 PM
I just wanted to say thank-you for providing this information and to let you know I'm following the discussion.  I have Eclair, Blue, Zap and Phoenix wallets on various tablets and mobile phones to test the applications out and get a feel for the Network's capabilities.

Others, myself included have noticed there are data bottle necks in various parts of the network.  I was wondering if you have any information on this phenomenon?
2052  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [BPIP] Bitcointalk Public Information Project [Back in Action] on: August 19, 2021, 05:04:10 PM
Bug: I've noticed before that BPIP's deleted post count is off, and stumbled upon a clear example now. User ebi_javanmard has 18 deleted posts on modlog (which I think is from the past week), but BPIP shows only 4 posts deleted by moderators.

Posts that have been deleted by a user (such as yourself in your self-moderated threads) haven't been counted for a while now.

When Lauda went on a deletion spree a while ago, those deleted posts were counted.  I just took it that there had been a change of opinion as to what did and did not count as relevant for post counts.

Similarly, threads that are deleted show as the post having been deleted, but also don't count towards the BPIP tally of deleted posts (as evidenced by what has been occurring recently).
2053  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: LoyceV's Beginners guide to correct use of the Trust system on: August 19, 2021, 04:44:53 PM
All that's left is excluding users who's feedback we deem unworthy.

That might even seem like a noble venture if indeed those dishing out such "justice" had already attempted to reach out to those they deem "unworthy" to work collaboratively with said person towards a mutual understanding.  Otherwise, slapping others with negatives from on high can be construed as being unwarranted, or indeed bullying.

Plain and simple.

a second question, if I may... How is it neither Ramelius, greenplastic nore monkeynuts picked up that two alts are bumping up their DT ranking?
It's the Collectibles board. I think many users there would argue that's the correct use of the Trust system.

User thiago007 got even 2 green DT-feedbacks from the same person (krogothmanhattan and krogoth). Many of the green feedbacks don't even get a Reference tag.

I looked further and some of the ones who have received positive trust feedback via (krogothmanhattan and krogoth) would have lower BPIP scores had they only received ten points as opposed to 20 points for their trust feedback scores.

I hadn't suggested there was "scamming" going on.  However, the scope of "buying" trust feedback isn't constrained to just the collectables market e.g. escrow, lending, currency exchange for (low value = pennies) transactions.

*edit* corrected something in this post...
2055  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: LoyceV's Beginners guide to correct use of the Trust system on: August 19, 2021, 02:52:58 AM

Do's and Don'ts
  • Don't add users to your Trust list because they've added you!
  • Don't exclude users from your Trust list based on retaliation. It's okay to trust someone's judgement, even when he doesn't trust yours.
  • Don't add someone to your Trust list because you had a trade with them. Even if you trust them with money, that doesn't mean you should trust their judgement on others. I think this is the most common mistake made on Trust lists!
  • It's okay to include your alt-account on your own Trust list. This means you trust the feedback you left from that account. Example:
    Quote
    hilariousandco Trusts these users' judgement:
    7. hilariousetc (Trust: +3 / =1 / -0) (1725 Merit earned) (Trust list) (BPIP)
  • Don't include your main account from your alt account(s). This could influence DT1-voting, and although that's not part of this guide, it's bad.

I've highlighted in blue the portion I want to canvas in this post.  We're up to week 135.  In week 75 (60 weeks ago i.e. just fractionally more than one years ago) user krogoth created their DT list:

Quote
Trust list for: krogoth (Trust: awaiting update) (13 Merit earned) (Trust list) (BPIP) (created 2020-06-20_Sat_05.04h)

krogoth Trusts these users' judgement:
1. NEW krogothmanhattan (Trust: +70 / =1 / -0) (DT1! (15) 1508 Merit earned) (Trust list) (BPIP)
2. NEW Ramelius (Trust: +12 / =0 / -0) (25 Merit earned) (Trust list) (BPIP)

krogoth Distrusts these users' judgement:
-

krogoth's judgement is Trusted by:
1. NEW krogothmanhattan (Trust: +70 / =1 / -0) (DT1! (15) 1508 Merit earned) (Trust list) (BPIP)

~krogoth's judgement is Distrusted by:
-

Trust list: backscratchers: users agree, they trust or distrust each other.
Trust list: backstabbers: users disagree, one user trust the other, while the other distrust him.

In week 135, their DT trust list looks like this:

Quote
Trust list for: krogoth (Trust: +4 / =0 / -0) (76 Merit earned) (Trust list) (BPIP) (created 2021-08-14_Sat_06.20h)

1. monkeynuts (Trust: +31 / =1 / -0) (258 Merit earned) (Trust list) (BPIP)
2. greenplastic (Trust: +48 / =0 / -0) (DT1! (5) 136 Merit earned) (Trust list) (BPIP)
3. krogothmanhattan (Trust: +75 / =1 / -0) (DT1! (14) 1793 Merit earned) (Trust list) (BPIP)
4. Ramelius (Trust: +14 / =0 / -0) (26 Merit earned) (Trust list) (BPIP)

2. iBitcoinHongKong8 (Trust: +9 / =0 / -0) (169 Merit earned) (Trust list) (BPIP)

krogothmanhattan is the main alt of krogoth - krogoth was created Date Registered:    2013-12-06, 08:39:23 while krogothmanhattan was Date Registered:    2017-05-11, 23:39:37

From krogothmanhattan's DT trust list, we see the following:

Week 135:

Quote
Trust list for: krogothmanhattan (Trust: +75 / =1 / -0) (DT1! (14) 1793 Merit earned) (Trust list) (BPIP) (created 2021-08-14_Sat_06.20h)
Back to index

krogothmanhattan Trusts these users' judgement:

3. monkeynuts (Trust: +31 / =1 / -0) (258 Merit earned) (Trust list) (BPIP)

6. greenplastic (Trust: +48 / =0 / -0) (DT1! (5) 136 Merit earned) (Trust list) (BPIP)
7. krogoth (Trust: +4 / =0 / -0) (76 Merit earned) (Trust list) (BPIP)

13. Ramelius (Trust: +14 / =0 / -0) (26 Merit earned) (Trust list) (BPIP)

So I guess my question concerns krogothmanhattan (DT1) voting up their main account krogoth (DT2) (or the other way around depending on which you see as the main account)

krogothmanhattan    2019-12-05        This is krogothmanhattan's second account used only when logging in from an unsecure connection. Please reach out to krogothmanhattan for more information.

(yes, that's positive default trust feedback)

2056  Economy / Collectibles / Re: BALLET Physical Cryptocurrency Wallets on: August 19, 2021, 01:58:53 AM
I just want to give a nod to the tem at Ballet Crypto wallets (and, by extension MoparMiningLLC) for having created what I consider an essential product to securely cold-store crypto in an offline environment.  I've discovered I can also add many crypto (coins and tokens) via their app and even imported forked variants of bitcoin via privkeys.

My only concern (and it's more a thought bubble) is wondering how durable the scratch off component of the metal cards are given I've heard stories of people having found old (unscratched) scratch lottery tickets in books or birthday/Christmas cards, scratching them off as best they can only to have the prize denied due to the scratch film having hardened against the playing coupon and being un-scratchable.
2057  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Rugby] Union / League / Super / Sixes Sevens Pro14 / Cups & Tours / Olympics on: August 19, 2021, 01:43:18 AM
Yea I was wondering about this championship but I actually havent paid any attention to it, The odds on sportsbet dont portray much hope for Australia I'm afraid Australia 8.60 v 1.05 New Zealand

I have a bet on the Springbok to beat The Pumas, odds are Argentina 4.70 v 1.16 South Africa

I've put a couple of wagers on - South Africa to win and Australia to win (even though deep down I know the New Zealander's are always seem as the better of the two teams).

As with the Rugby League betting, once the odds go down to below about 1.1 there just isn't enough in it (for the small amounts I'm betting) for me to warrant placing a bet.

I've also just heard on the Radio the Broncos captain is going to retire at the end of this season.

https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-08-19/alex-glenn-announces-brisbane-broncos-nrl-retirement/100389482

Alex Glenn calls time on 13-year NRL career, leaving Brisbane Broncos searching for a new captain

Quote

Alex Glenn has called time on his 13-year NRL career, the Brisbane captain admitting the ability to retire a one-club player was "beyond anything I could have imagined".

The 282-game back-rower made the announcement on Thursday in the lead-up to Sunday's clash with the Warriors.

Glenn debuted as a 20-year-old in 2009 and, now 33, will hang up the boots at the end of this season as the fourth most-capped Broncos player in history.

The Broncos would be better off telling Alan Langer to get off the field (their dubiously named "trainer" on field during a game)  The players are too scared to ignore him barking orders as though it was still the late 1980's when he was a superstar of League instead of playing their own game.
2058  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Rugby] Union / League / Super / Sixes Sevens Pro14 / Cups & Tours / Olympics on: August 18, 2021, 03:26:52 PM
I not backing The Eels this round, I have Storm, Roosters, Sea Eagles, and Knights for the wins.

There is a lot to play for just inside and outside the top 8 positions, Titans, Raiders
and Sharks could all be fighting for that 8th spot in the finals.

Rugby League.

This week ( Round 23 of the NRL 2021 season ) I'm going with :

The Storm, Sea Eagles, Panthers (should be a good game against the Rabbitohs), Sharks (another mid ladder good game), Knights, Eels (if they don't win, then they're going to have trouble for the remainder of the series), Roosters & The Warriors.

I've heard teams such as the Eels are having difficulties in lock-down where the single men (on higher priced contracts) are in more luxurious hotel rooms, while family / married men have their whole families in cramped smaller hotel rooms (hence disrupted sleep etc).

Apparently this is why the Eels have started loosing recently.  (as good as any other story out there)

Rugby Union.

Hopefully the Australian's can emulate the Qld State of Origin team and win the third (dead rubber) game this week-end against the All Blacks.

Yes, I've also been getting those errors (which I haven't seen on any site for quite a while now).   When it occurs, it usually lasts anywhere from five to fifteen minutes, but doesn't seem to repeat itself after the initial occurrence.

Most unusual.
2060  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH high gas fee on: August 16, 2021, 10:01:45 PM
I really can't see the point of pay $6 (in ETH) for billions of tokens to the spend a further $25+ on ETH transaction fees - It's just not sustainable to have a system where the TX fees are 400% of the cost of buying a product.

If that corresponded to the real world, a small "budget" car would cost $ 100,000
