2061  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Closed - Group Buy]Dualminer USB ASIC sha/scrypt miner $85 [USA Only][Batch #2] on: February 15, 2014, 10:51:41 PM
I agree.  Please keep it open until you have enough.
Mid week I will be able to afford one as well to help out the group buy.  If things go well I may even be able to do 2 of them.

I keep hearing speculations that once MtGox reopens withdrawals the price will jump. Should we wait till Tuesday ?

Demon thanks for PM on 9 paid miners. The second message that lists summary of orders now shows substantial deficit 227/300 Sad Will you be able to order even if the price gets above $700?

well i wont have enough BTC to cover the full 300. So unless prices jump over $750
I will be refunding all btc.  Cry

Couldn't you just continue the group buy until you have enough (either from more orders or higher price - or a combination?)

2063  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bter Points BTR? What to do with them?? on: February 15, 2014, 08:44:11 PM
It does stink though that they take your entire balance away if you withdraw any amount of any kind of coin.
I had a large amount and had to take out a couple MMC and they took all my BTR points away.
That really sucks.

And what we can do with this Points?

- Keep them to get % of fee. I don't know if this is really working, I didn’t found a page to check that.
- Sell them for CNY (but beware, I've read that you will lose 50% by doing that, and if you cancel your order you lose the 50% anyway, this is very strange, but I guess they don't want you to crash their own market).

2064  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [4700 TH] BTC Guild - Pays TxFees+Orphan+NMC, Stratum, Private Servers on: February 15, 2014, 02:19:54 AM
That kicks ass.
 Cool

Congrats eleuthria and to all of us miners!  Smiley

2065  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [4700 TH] BTC Guild - Pays TxFees+Orphan+NMC, Stratum, Private Servers on: February 15, 2014, 02:16:49 AM
Those are great stats.
It's also good to know your pool transactions are safe too.
It's the only pool I use for BTC.  Smiley

Minor Irritant feedback

The little tooltip message that pops up when the mouse is over the pool luck graph at bottom of PPLNS page uses 24 hour time format
The rest of that page uses am/pm format

Trivial I know, but it caused me some confusion at start when new to BTC Guild, so perhaps when developers are not launching new scrypt pools, or updating servers or dealing with DOS attacks, falsified transactions, etc, etc etc

Smiley

Updated to 12-hour time format.

Funny enough, BTC Guild hasn't been affected by transaction malleability.  Maybe it's my accounting background, or maybe it's common sense, but my system doesn't rely on your transaction ID getting confirmations before marking it as paid on your account.  If I push out a payout, the payout has already been marked as sent in my system before the actual push to bitcoind.  You can fix a failed payout.  You can't fix/reverse a double payout.

Congrats eleuthria and to all of us miners!  Smiley

please explain to me why this is a good thing?

 Huh

BTC Guild represents one of (if not the) largest group of miners.  We have fallen from 1st place in terms of raw speed.  However, GHash.io's last statement was that 45% of their speed was their private farm (cex.io).  BTC Guild itself has no private hash rate.  My ASIC collection consists of a single Avalon and a dozen USB Block Erupters, none of which are currently running.  Eligius has passed BTC Guild on occasion in the last week, because it now has 2 users that represent approximately 35-40% of its entire pool speed.  BTC Guild has some power users, yes, but the largest one is not even 8% of the pool.  The top 5 users represent approximately 20% of the pool, and then it drops *drastically* after that.

Thank you and to you and yours the same.  Smiley

Best of luck mate and have faith. Be positive. Happy Valentine's Day to you and your wife! Smiley

I'm glad I don't eat much of either.  LOL

Folks you need to lay off the sodium and shrimps.  those poor creatures are dying for your souls.

Thank you.
Post 777.  Smiley  Very cool.
You are quite right too I have been pushed beyond breaking I still have not given up yet and I should not ever no matter how difficult.  It's so hard to make that primal part of my brain remember that when I am in such pain.

Keep your head up man.  We all go through some serious dark times in our lives.   You have to be thankful that you have a wife that is sticking by your side and a kid that loves you...Those 2 things alone are irreplaceable.

I have some stories that wouldn't believe...I don't wanna air them out, but trust me, I have some bad ones too.

You have to be like a bitcoin...lol...no matter how many times you get knocked down, you just keep rebounding back.   Life is easy when the money is rolling and there are no struggles, but when everything crumbles...that is where you show what you are made of.

Coincidentally this is post #777 for me...so that means 10 years of good luck for you ahead Smiley
2070  Other / Off-topic / Re: Terrible Day on: February 14, 2014, 11:57:06 PM
I appreciate you sharing that.
I hope someday I will get better but I know there is a limit.  The spinal cord and nerve damage is permanent my doctors have told me.
I am trying not to give up.  It feels so bleak so often.  I am glad that you were able to recover.  It must have been terrible when you broke it.

I know what you can feel.

I was in similar situation after breaking my backbone.
But now everything seems quite better after 5 years :-)

Be strong and never give up !!!

2071  Other / Off-topic / Re: Terrible Day on: February 14, 2014, 11:34:29 PM
Thanks I appreciate it.
I will try to remember that as well.  It's been a brutal year and a half.

Seems like a bad day.

Remember. It cant rain all the time.

Wish you best!!!!
2072  Other / Off-topic / Terrible Day on: February 14, 2014, 11:25:38 PM
Today has been a terrible day and I just need to vent.
I had injured my spinal cord in an accident moving logs a year and a half ago and have underwent 2 surgeries the 2nd just a couple months ago now.
Although the surgeries have helped me regain quite a bit of use of my right leg I have been struggling with the spinal cord and nerve damage and neuropathy with brutal spasms and 24/7 pain.
I still have falls that I cannot control and other problems from it.
A few days ago I had a really bad fall and have been having even worse than usual pain.  My spinal cord stimulater implant can't keep up with the normal pain this is just even more brutal.
Today, Valentines Day I am bedridden as I cannot walk more that a couple steps without spasms, pain and my leg not moving.  I have been hurting so badly I am nauseous.
My wonderful wife has been taking care of me and got me a thoughtful gift and peanut butter cups.  All I could afford for her was a card as I have not been able to work since the accident.
We were supposed to go out to a nice dinner our parents were sending us too and my mom was going to watch our 1 yr old daughter so we could spend some time alone.
Instead I am a mess and cannot walk or sit.  I'm stuck in bed.  My doctor is scheduling me for emergency scans for tomorrow at the local hospital.

I am so frustrated, angry and sad that it is crippling me in other ways.
I feel so physically, emotionally and mentally battered it is hard to even think positive. Everything feels so insurmountable then I feel terrible because I know there are others in worse shape.
I just don't know what to do anymore it is killing me slowly.  I am only 42, my life was not supposed to be like this.  I went from being an athlete to disabled.  From very intelligent to slow and dim from the pain clouding my mind.
The feeling of being useless and helpless just worsens the depression that I fight non-stop with the pain.

Days like today make me want it to end regardless of how.  I know better but my mind and pain keep beating me to a pulp.

I'm sorry for the rant I am just so cut off from my friends and family most of the time.
2073  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive ASICMiner Cube Setup on: February 14, 2014, 07:19:23 PM
Do not run it without the cap.  It looks like a regulator.

The same type of cap used to fall off ATI video cards all the time years ago.
I got so sick of resoldiering them on for customers that insisted on ATI instead of Nvidia at the time.
At least his board is not toast that is the silver lining here.

Yes they can be reseated but it looks like you need a new one as well.
What needs to happen is create a new soldier pad for the one that is gone and then carefully heat and seat the new cap.
If you are not familiar with how to do it look for a local electronics repair shop as they usually have techs that can ID the cap and install it properly and quickly for just a few dollars as it is a simple task.

Will try 2 cubes on this PSU soon.

Ok, so, I have this blade on the cube, from which this thing came off. Is there a way to fix it ?
Yep, take it to an electronics shop.
What is this cap ? What's the function of this cap!
Is it safe to run the blade without this cap?
I will take it to electronics shop today and get it fixed.
2074  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Nobody spends their coins and that is killing Bitcoin, everyone "knows" that. on: February 14, 2014, 05:58:50 PM
It seems like it could be true.
Great info by the way.
I have to say I spend almost all I get as I do not get much so I make the most of it.
I enjoy being able to mine and actually pay the electric bill with it and buy more miners and coins and such.
Very fun.
Using the coins will stimulate them to gain value and adoption.  Can you imagine if say the Winklevoss twins would spend or give away even a fraction of their hoard it would really stimulate the whole BTC economy.
Heck if someone gave me just a couple coins I would spend most of it supporting BTC accepting vendors.

2075  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] MemoryCoin | CPU Coin | Paid Dev Team | Limited Supply [MMC] on: February 14, 2014, 05:48:37 PM
The problem with this is it takes away the ability for the average person to mine it and benefit from it as the cost to get GPU rigs and such price mining out of alot of peoples reach.
There is some GPU mining that can be done.  YAM and a couple others support it.
Check over here it may help you out.
https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?board=35.0

What are the paid devs doing for the coin ? What services ?

Anonymous transaction ? Mixing ? Messaging ? Aliases ? Decentralised exchange ? Smart contract ? Coloured coin ? Anything ?
IMHO the algo should be changed - to make it a real MEMORYCOIN - to stop botmining, cheap GPUmining - eg. that threads running with 2GB / 4GB / 8 GB / 16 GB RAM earn considerably more than threads with 256 MB.

The project list is over here. https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?board=35.0
All sorts of things in the works, done and planning more.
The community has come together quite well to support, promote and back MemoryCoin.

2077  Economy / Goods / Re: Customized Bitcoin Keychain (Giveaway) on: February 14, 2014, 04:30:56 PM
Have you tried a powder coating or is the base metal not the type that can handle that?

Just wanted to add my thanks too. The keychain looks great and the QR code works well -- it'll be rattling around with my keys for a while so I'll be sure to let you know if anything changes.

Is it possible to engrave QR codes?
Glad you're happy, and the QR code is working well. But I have concluded that the image doesn't endure rough treatment well enough for me to feel comfortable selling the product. It seems to be an issue with the image coating not bonding well enough to the plating of the keychains (the imaging process is much more permanent on other metals).

We are working on mechanical engraving solutions and other similar products, I hope to announce some better solutions on this thread in a couple of weeks.
2078  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The Perma USB Eruptor. on: February 14, 2014, 04:17:24 PM
As for CPU mining it depends on how you setup your software.
I use YAM for MemoryCoin.  On my quad-core I set it to 3 threads instead of 4 for mining which leaves the computer running great for everything else yet gets me a good output for my mining.

As long as they are not overheated they seem to run forever.
The main reason I put mine inside my new case.
My old case needed a box fan next to it,
My new case has enough airflow to be closed. Smiley
The 200mm intake fan blows onto the eruptor.

Yup, I mine MemoryCoin with my CPU's.
It's a nice extra boost in income for systems already running.

The problem with cpu/gpu mining is the added power consumption, and lack of usability.
Your ability to use your computer is limited greatly when cpu/gpu miners are at work.
Also a cpu/gpu running at full load uses significantly more power and generates significantly more heat.

Someday they will make MOBO's with built in mining hardware Cheesy

Already did, it was called CPU mining.   Cool
