2061  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sad News: Kidnappers now requesting bitcoin as ransom in Nigeria on: September 17, 2019, 06:37:53 AM
Muslims are seen as terrorist because of IS. Somedays ago, an attack on NZ Mosque by a Christian proved that "Terrorist has no religion."
Terrorist needs to be safe, they are using bitcoin. It doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the image of bitcoin. Before bitcoin was invented, didn't kidnapper kidnap? You can't blame here bitcoin. If for this reason, Nigerian govt ban bitcoin, I would say all these bitcoin kidnapping is a drama created by govt in order to ban bitcoin.

Freelancing with bitcoin doesn't have much available platform. However, if someone has good experiences on some areas, they can get some job here. Bitcointalk is a good marketplace for freelancing with bitcoin. In the early days of my forum journey, I got a client from here. I was asked to write an article for him.
I have used this forum for learning about bitcoin, shared my knowledge. However, he somehow noticed and PMed me. Now we are having a long term deal for writing him. This is a great pleasure for me.
If someone wants to start freelancing for bitcoin, I would advise to start from bitcointalk, a great marketplace.

Would better if you share how much sites I have to collect data from, you know for a long list, the rate would be low.

Let's say 5-10 sites 10 pp / site.

What does 10 PP refer to, paypal?
2066  Economy / Economics / Re: Average savings across the globe on: September 14, 2019, 06:20:50 AM
If someone from India and USA doing the same job but their salary will be huge in difference so where they born is really matter to decide how good they are financially.
Did you mean same job in the same place? Or one from USA and one from India. If they are not in the same place, please do account of average living cost/standard as well. You know both the country has a huge difference in living cost. Therefore, it is basically pulling back to the same.
Macroeconomy is a combination of a lot of factors, you can't conclude anything with one or two single factors.

Everyone, Don't click on a link before verifying it. Just had a visit here from here. PM is very risky since it may involve hack.
OP I hope you will not mind it.

There are so many mixing platforms but it is risky to store your coins too long on those platforms. Someone made that mistake and lose their coins on scam mixing platforms.
Mixing platforms do not store your coins, they obfuscate the transaction history. He got scammed by a service, still, it doesn't mean they store your coins.
Here is a transaction picture I want to share which may help to learn how the mixer transaction goes on.

As blockchain is public, everyone can see what Alice is doing with their BTC. If Alice sends BTC to Bob, people can easily trace. Here's the normal transaction.

But, since Alice doesn't want to let people know Alice sent BTC to Bob, Alice will use Coinmixer, which will be executed as follow-

Alice will send BTC to mixing service with the information where to send BTC, Mixing service will send BTC to Bob from another preloaded address. So, there's no way to trace, theoretically. However, mixing services don't guarantee privacy all the times.

Not bad. With a bad start, England recovered a lot. Credits- Butler certainly, and now 2 wickets down for Australia. I guess Australia as well will not be able to score much, England needs to get Simth down as well, otherwise, things may have changed.
Sad to see Warnar is having bad days. He deserves to have better perform. I wish he could.

Anyway, like I said earlier, it's between Smith and England now.
England vs Australia or England vs Smith? That's frustrating, in almost each of the matches, they lost to Smith.
2071  Local / India / Re: What is the actual state of crypto currency in India? on: September 13, 2019, 11:49:26 AM
It's pretty understandable, you can have a transaction with cryptocurrency but we are not going to assist you anymore, do it in your responsibility. That was a stupid move from RBI. I guess someday, they will reverse the decision.

I called back after a while after a conversation with my CA and when i called the bank back they said they do not know who called me and there is no inquiry they are aware of. Has anyone encountered these in the past.
Interesting, if the inquiry wasn't a part of the bank, who did this? I never encountered this probably because I am at the moment not in India, in fact, for years. Have you left your identity somewhere in the cryptocurrency-related forum, blogs etc.? Probably a hacker?

5th Test- The Ashes 2019
It's Oval. The first international test in England, the first International football match of England and a lot more. The honorarium for the ground is to play the final match here.

Total Match- 101
Batting first won- 36
Bowling first won- 28
Highest score in Oval- 903/7 by Eng vs Aus
Lowest score in Oval- 44/10 by Aus vs Eng

I didn't know that Australia has been missing a 5 matches series win in England against England since 2001, So, they finally going to overcome this, I guess.
Woakes is replaced for Overton, Stokes is playing as a batsman only because of his shoulder injury. More trouble for England.

Sorry, don't get me wrong. I did not mean that I watch every ball of the Test matches. I miss sessions, even days of the test matches. But yes, I keep myself content updated with the scores and actually depending on the score I turn on the tv.
I guess no one other than JSRAW watches a test match, everyone else gets up to date with the score. Watching test cricket is only enjoyable if it's the 4th innings and it has some sauce. Other than this, I never watch, check espncricinfo all the times.
2073  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Probable Precautions using Electrum on: September 11, 2019, 01:43:23 PM
If user is using old version of Electrum (all version older then 3.3.4), it can happen to him to see pop-up window with message to update Electrum, including link to fake wallet. But that doesn't mean the user's computer is infected, it is just message displayed through legal software, so there is no need to format the disk and install new OS.
I never face this situation. Until now, I thought Electrum doesn't push any pop-up for updating a wallet. How a user can identify if it's the fake link or the original wallet? What exactly will be the message from the official pop-up? How can we distinguish between both the fake one and the original one? Please share a little more information. Thank you.

2075  Other / Beginners & Help / Probable Precautions using Electrum on: September 11, 2019, 10:24:56 AM
Electrum is one of the best software for users who don't want to download the whole blockchain with hundreds of Gigabytes. You can run a bitcoin core wallet without storing the whole blockchain with prune mode, however, you are still required to download (synchronize or get up-to-date) from the beginning till now.
Running an Electrum wallet is as easy as one, two, three. But-
It includes a lot of threats, risks unless you are enough aware of all the possible threats. Here I will include some of the probable threats of using Electrum so that you don't have to be a victim of the hacker.

1. Check URL Before Downloading
Before you download the Electrum software, make sure you are downloading from the official website--> electrum.org, don't download from any other site. A list of known fake phishing electrum sites can be found here-

2. Don't Update if You Get a Pop-up, Applied for version 3.3.4 and lower
You may get a pop-up notification to update your electrum, if you get that pop-up, avoid that and try to have fresh windows because the hacker may have access to your wallet. And, if you click on update and update electrum, you will find yourself hacked. May look like the below image or may differ from it.

3. Check Sending Address Twice
This applies for both Electrum users or non-Electrum users, however, in case of Electrum, hackers ask you to update electrum, when you update and paste an address for transferring BTC, your paste address will automatically replaced by the hackers one, that's saying, check the address before sending.

Additional Recommendation- Important
It might be worthy to expand the "Check URL Before Downloading" part by verification of the signature.
Just verifying the URL is not enough to be secured against all attack vectors.

For example:
DNS-/ARP spoofing.
If your computer is clean and secure, but your network is compromised your DNS request to electrum.org could be resolved to a different IP address.
This would result in visiting a fake-website by entering the original URL.
You would basically download malware from a fake electrum site without noticing it on the first sight.

Verifying the signature is the best way of making sure you are installing the legitimate software you intend to install. And this is a necessary step to be safe.

Additional similar attack vectors exist, which would all be prevented by simply verifying the signature of the file.

Before installing the Electrum software one need to make sure that it's an original copy. Here is a tutorial that will help the users to learn the steps to verify the signature: https://bitcoinelectrum.com/how-to-verify-your-electrum-download/

This is very important step for Electrum users. This will help to avoid any risk in the future.
Public key of ThomasV

I think that a good precaution can also be to make a backup of the seed (if not done yet) and maybe the wallet file too before an upgrade, since the system (and the antiviruses too) may cause surprises.
If only the seed is backed up, writing somewhere a few addresses should help finding out what kind of wallet the user had (Legacy 1* , 3*, native bc1*) if a restore is necessary.

Note: Don't blame Electrum like this, for your info, Electrum is an open source software.

If there are some more probable risks using Electrum, please share. I will update so that newbies don't get aware.
2076  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin - Friends & Family adoption - Share your experience. on: September 11, 2019, 06:42:53 AM
I never tried to share with any of my family member about bitcoin. In fact, they would never get interested into this. I have shared about bitcoin among couple of my friends. Had a long discussion with only one friend, who had a little idea from long ago. He was more interested, later he invested which turns into loss. He is not disappointed though.
I have been introduced with bitcoin as the purpose of receiving service fee by one of my clients. But now, I have as well turned it as an investment opportunity. Most people take it as this purpose. Otherwise, the monetary value would never be higher like as it is now or it was back in 2017.
2077  Local / India / Re: Let's vote for a new mod for India on: September 10, 2019, 05:23:25 PM
I'm not much active here in local, don't know who is active either. I know legendstar more than anyone probably because he is active in some more boards like service, reputation etc. But his recent negative tag isn't good at all for being a moderator. Otherwise, I would certainly name his name.
On top of that, active reporters must be given more value, we don't know who had most reports in Indian boards. However, I vote for newindia because he already has created a petition thread in meta, he must be a genuine guy here who will care about the forum.
2078  Local / India / Re: Stop blaming bitcoin | Don't fall for Matrix or HYIP on: September 10, 2019, 05:13:35 PM
Newbies are the target of this HYIP/Matrix group of people. They don't know how people can deceive here. However, that has nothing to do with, although media promotes crypto related scams with highlights. That's being a trend, probably they don't know what is crypto, or they have been controlled by the govt.
2079  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Setting up CPU mining on: September 10, 2019, 03:58:25 AM
Did you followed the guide? It's pool mining, you can see your stats in that pool's website by entering your worker address/ID.
No, I didn't. I have tried with only my single CPU. I will try later today with pool. Now I will try connecting come CPU. For now, I'm not thinking about earning. Since I'm new and have some times to spend, I'm trying to get understood this process only.

Quote
Solo mining: the block reward is all yours, but you mine alone and the chance depends on your hashrate alone.
Pool mining: the block reward will be divided between the workers depending on their shares, but the rate to mine a block is high since all worker's hashrate will be used together.
I was messing up both solo mining and pool mining. So, if some of our colleagues mine, it will be pool mining as well. Thank you for thesese easy words.
2080  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: T20 and T20I cricket prediction and discussion on: September 10, 2019, 01:02:59 AM
South Africa's performance in world cup was worst, from that point I guess I'm safe to say India will certainly win both series. However, it depends on how SA will perform. It's not obvious that they will be dummy as they were in WC.

3 Match T-20 Series

  • Sep 15  : Ist T-20 in Dharamsala  ( I must add beautiful stadium, Location is epic! )
Weather as well  Grin
In Dharamsala, it rains most of the times. It must not be selected as venue during this time. In Dharamsala, the average rainfall is 2883mm. It will not be a surprise if it rains for a straight 7 days now.
