20901  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: who uses MtGox CAD$ on: December 19, 2011, 07:26:17 AM
why would anyone use mtGox CAD$!? Huh

please keep the CAD$ on the Canadian virtual exchange.

Bitcoin is the currency of the intelligent, right?

Canada has always ranked way way WAY higher in education than the US.    Cool
20902  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: #Bitcoin as a promoted trend on Twitter on: December 11, 2011, 06:39:39 AM
One, we need Twitter to actually consider the request.

Why?  Just add #Bitcoin to the end of your tweets.

Ah great idea, I did not know they had one, thanks!

You didn't pay someone to develop something available for free, did you?
20904  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Coinbits.com Smartphone App! [Announcement] on: December 11, 2011, 05:25:56 AM
Wordpress is one of the most popular blog software packages out there.  Anyone can open a free wordpress blog and publish a wordpress phone app.
20905  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Staff from PBC suggests take control of bitcoin network. on: December 11, 2011, 02:52:56 AM
I'd like to see them try. They'd need a lot of computers to do that.

If China wanted to, they could easily outhash everything working on bitcoin.  You really want to see them try?
20906  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: To the moderators: Why isn't Yourbtc.net in the top 10 pools? on: December 07, 2011, 06:04:02 AM
It's been at least 10 days I'm watching this, and they have consistently enough hashpower to overtake some of the current top 10 pools. I usually look for medium-size pools and I wouldn't have seen them if I hadn't searched for DGM payout method.

Is it just oversight or is there some other reason?

It's not done automatically - the moderators have to manually pin and unpin pools.  They may not be aware of it.  Why not have the pool owner send them a message with proof of the hashrate?

I'd like to add one more thing into this post, as to police brutality. This was a 'harmless beanbag round'

Beanbag rounds aren't supposed to be harmless.  They are non-lethal.

That pledge pool will be held by some other member here because, like I've previously stated, I would spend it on old musty lumber.

Which member?

Better question - why have one member hold onto it?

Have each person that pledged send their donation directly to the CO.   I feel one hundred transactions of 1 bitcoin would look better in a wallet than a single transaction of 100 coins.
20910  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: What is the average number of shares before a block is solved? on: November 29, 2011, 11:38:33 AM
Is there a site that keeps track of the average number of shares per block for the major pools?
Yes.
Hmmm...

*takes a closer look at Martin Lawrence's profile/sig*

I see what you did there...

Want to tell me so we both know?   Smiley

Wow - 12 million shares.

At PPS, even paying a small amount like  0.00003 per share would end up costing the pool almost 400 bitcoins.  No wonder so many new pools fail!

Define "siccessful" ( sic ) for me please.

"Siccessful" was a typo.  If you look on your keyboard, you'll see the i and u right next to each other.  Smiley

Well, I don't play games sonny. I'm too old for that. What are you, like 17 ? Keep on playing your childish games all day and you will get very far in life very fast.

I'm a very successful 41 year old and I play video games as a hobby.

How is gaming any different than scrap booking, which my sister does, or volleyball, which my brother does, or knitting, which my step sister does?  Just a way to pass time.  Playing video games occupies the mind a lot more than watching TV.

If I haven't opened my wallet in weeks does it have to run through hundreds of blocks to catch up?

Exactly.

If your wallet is up to date, you'll see the payment almost instantly.

You can see the current block number at http://blockexplorer.com/

A newly identified Mac OS X Trojan bundles a component that leverages the processing power of video cards (GPUs) to generate Bitcoins, a popular type of virtual currency.

The new Trojan was dubbed DevilRobber by antivirus vendors and is being distributed together with several software applications via BitTorrent sites.
