Do you recommend nicehash to monitor gpus + system stats if you have more than 2rigs?

Nice rig build btw! Roll Eyes

I use nicehash  because I have multiple  btc addresses.

and I have a few others for my clients.
I also use simplemining.net   smOS to manage  the gear.

This rig  will have ethOS  a different linux  then  smOS .

I will try this rig with  ethOS and with smOS  and point to nicehash  to this address

Huh that prices is fantastic minus the wattage.. might be what pushes me to upgrading my main panel if I can get my hands on some.

Then again ROI for new gear at the moment is pretty shitty..

Yeah at the moment nvidia is still sky high

Amd is also pricey

rx 580's = 469.99 each

http://www.diamondmultimediastore.com/diamond-amd-rx580-video-card

I purchased 2 from them on Christmas day for 299.99 each

the one below is 399.99

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814137244&ignorebbr=1&cm_re=rx_580-_-14-137-244-_-Product

I would argue  that  rx 560's  could be best to buy  some are 150 usd  and will do 300 for cryptonight
20903  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: New merit give away thread. For alt coin mining. on: March 05, 2018, 01:29:22 PM
You are a good man. But your position does not solve the problem of merit. This system conservation accounts. The user is forced to ask to pay attention to him. I hope that this experiment will be declared invalid. Now the situation requires the consolidation of the crypto community. Your position is a good example to follow.

Well it is an attempt to weed out the thousands  of nasty A-holes  on this forum.

Most likely there are 1000 to 3000 accounts  maybe more  being used to rip off and hurt people.

Do I think merit will fix this no but it is a step  to some kind of solution.

I think the very nature of cryptocoins  being non reversible and kind of anonymous is what causes these  bad apples to flock to this site.

I try to help, but it is really hard work.  Escrows  can be really tough to do sometimes a 2 or 3 thousand dollar escrow  where I get 40-60 dollars  in payment can take 2 weeks and 30 pms  to do correctly  maybe 2 or 3 hours of work.  Multiply that by 3 or 4  outstanding escrows  where I may be holding 10,000 usd in coin and every one has an issue to solve. Add to that  30 gpus rigs to manage a dozen s-9s ―  dozen avalons 6 nicehash accounts. 4 or 5 pc builds for people.  Maybe 10 sales and I am a one man show.

Some mornings I wake up and say WTF.  Trying to run this thread  means  100 to 200 posts to read on some days.

Trying to run the alt coin thread  and lastly  doing reviews  means I am busy.

It is still fun some days  other days  not so much.
20904  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: The death of cryptonight and the future of amd card prices on: March 05, 2018, 01:17:02 PM
I heard menero is forking to monerov which will use a new algo. does this mean 2018 is the death of the crytponight algo and lower AMD prices?

No

Longer answer is other coins will pop up if the fork is real.

Maybe this worth something. A clarification about AI and advice on how to read a ton of papers. Kinda new to crypto, trying to share something I familiar with from other fields.

Gave you one for reading whitepapers.
20906  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: New merit give away thread. For alt coin mining. on: March 05, 2018, 12:12:44 PM

No as it is old info many have given out before you gave it out.

But I read your Italian and German posts  and a lot of them have good info on setting gear and software.

My German is meh
My Italian is 2x meh
Many say my English is not very good. Grin

So It was nice to see someone that  writes in 3 languages  and gives good mining info for free.

Thus I gave you a merit for the post in this thread to honer all your other posts.
20907  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Antminer s9 and slushpool hashrate drops off on: March 05, 2018, 03:43:52 AM
Will the connection still ultimately go through the 4G Wifi modem?

If so then you are going to have to accept that depending on signal strength you will not always the best connection. Bottom line, if that's the best Internet connection you have then let it run and don't sweat the alerts from the pool. I'd also look at the Daily hashrate that Slush shows. That's a better average to gauge what's going on.

20 meters is a long run 10 meters to a switch to ten meters will help.

as for wifi it is hard to tell .  where I am wifi drops out constantly as I am near a large military base with plenty of planes.  They cause a  lot of drop outs.

he has 1 issue for sure a 20 meter / 60 ft run is not that relaible and he is most likely compounding it with the wifi modem.

two of these
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01ELMYN4Q/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

with this in-between  https://www.amazon.com/D-Link-Gigabit-Unmanaged-Desktop-DGS-108/dp/B000BCC0LO/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?

would assure  a solid signal to the wifi which could still drop out.

I like to keep wires at 30 feet or 10 meters and use low-cost switches to help boost signal.

router ---10 meter cable-- switch--- 10 meter cable--- switch---  lots of short cheap cables to the miners

If I do a really long run I use boosters like this

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002CLKFTG/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

this is in a 350 foot run  between 2 buildings and it stopped the dropouts.

Try a different pool for a day

Also consider higher quality Ethernet cables.

A long cable run of cat 5 will drop out once in a while.

Also if you WiFi mine it could be dropouts.

I fixed an issue for one miner by sending a good cat 7 cable to replace his old cat 5
itīs a new cable but itīs very long and connected to 4G Wifi modem. I think itīs 20 metres long.
Do you think shorter cable or a router would fix it?

A router with a 10 meter cable to a ethernet switch to a 10 meter cable would work

20911  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Youtubers blaming crypto-currency miners for gaming shortage LIE on: March 04, 2018, 07:35:33 PM
Regardless of the supply issues, what is shipped is what is shiped, and miners are buying them up. The shipping issues would have happened with or without miners. It's an indisputable fact that miners are buying up a large percentage of the gpus that are shipped to market. Naturally that leaves less for gamers and increases the prices. Supply and demand. Not that I care, I'm a gamer and a miner, and if people don't like the free market it's too bad. Besides, I think the reduction in shipments to market probably indicates that a next gen card will be coming out soon. And it's probably going to be expensive. Very very expensive.

I have built tons of 2 card gaming rigs  for hard core gamers  all of them mine while they sleep.

I also see a big jump in price for new cards when they drop.

2070 = 600
2080 = 750

2080ti = 850

As a guess

Grabbed a few L3's

With the 200 dollar coupon  1296 price is pretty good.

That's a great buy and possibly a great resell price too

L3+ are good for long term ASICS to get them LTCs or convert to BTCs

I see them for 1700   https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3062836.0

plus shipping  so 1750
20913  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: March 04, 2018, 07:17:19 PM
they lowered the price to 2000usd for an s9 including psu
but still not worth it. roi is about one year unless you have very cheap or free electricity and not counting the diff increase.

Yep, interestingly enough they're also starting to offer bundles with PSUs again too, likely to lure people to buy in along with the coupons. Only the A3 seems to have sold out so far, seems like everyone is aware of the ROI situation.

The s9's are priced too high.

Maybe the L3's would be good to get.

If you have cheap power maybe the T9's

and if they send one of those 450 usd coupons  and  you get the T9 for 1250 - 450 = 800 + 100 to ship

that is  900 usd for 10.5th  pretty cheap if you have low power cost.

With the solar array  and the sell off I did  both the L3 and the T9   look fairly attractive.

Agreed - and the L3 usually have decent resale value since it's a little more reasonable for at home mining compared to the S9(no need to install a 220 line).

I was given 3 $200 dollar coupons .

I purchased 1 L3+ about ten minutes ago.

I will wait a bit  before I decide  if I will order another L3+  or a T9

Thank Phil for not only this topic, I learned a lot from you, Yun, Bear, Vann, and Quint when I started on mining.
Now I'm also working on other thing but still keep my eyes on mining community and enjoy it as well, still many people in my mining community are looking for my helps, it's great.

If I got merit from you or any hero I mentioned above, I will be very happy.
So, if it's possible, please take a look on my topics or a post from thread which I actively discussed on:

does anyone mine with the bitmain L3 +

If so what do you think of it?

My group has a modest farm of 20 x L3+ and 6 x A4 -- total hash of around 11GHs (small sized farm)

Bottomline, its profitable (mining direct and rentals ~ NH and MRR) and ranked second only after S9s in the farm.

Giant-B and X13/X15 Baikal farm at best 3rd in the ranking.

The group wants to expand on the Scrypt farm in 2017 but we didnt get a good deal from Bitmain, so we put the project on hold and bought more A741s instead.

The 504MH L3+ miner is currently the defacto Scrypt miner - tried and tested, and robust too in handling multi-coin mining. No RMAs so far, but I believe we got a good batch.

They are other companies doing 1GH and beyond using FPGAs but they are really unknowns and have not got a good sales track record.

A little bird shared with us that Innosilicon may come up with something bigger and better vs the L3+ but its all speculation again (not to be confused with the fused A4s bundle).

For 2018 and beyond, our radar is on Scrypt mining very closely because of profitability of the Scrypt coins.

The 2018 ASICS strategy - putting ASIC vs GPUs debate aside and avoiding AMD-NVIDIA dramas, simply because 1 ASICS = several dozens of GPUs = higher BTC accumulation -- as long as we dont have X11/D3 disaster anytime soon.

Yes, I admit that the LBRY, SIA and DCR has now been pulverized by Giant X10 & Bs, and A3s....
.... but the high price to acquire these miners has created a tall barrier of entry and the influx of too many miners and GHs may have neutralized the situation.

Well next 6 months  we make the most of the solar array's power  we can do 18kwatts  for free.

The L3+ uses around 800-900 watts this may be good for us at the array.  We can go to 18kwatts  and be 'free' beyond  that  cost is 16 cents. If I get 5 dragonmints  that is 6000 watts 3 s9's is 4200 watts  we have 28 1080tis that is  5600 watts.  This gets us to 15800 watts  which means 2 or 3 more L3+  and we are at 18000 watts.

So

5x DragonMint    6000 watts
3x s9s                4200 watts
28 1080tis          5600 watts
 3  L3's               2400 watts

total 18200 watts

So far  the newer bigger array is bogged down  with government rules and regulations.  It is a six acre tract of land  which would allow  2 acre array stage 1  then in a year or 2  up to a 4 acre array.  4 acres of panels  would give us 50-70 kwatts of 'free' power.

It would be nice to get these arrays added  but that is forum member buysolar's  line of work.  I try to mange the power he gets me to keep risk low  and profits high. We did really well in Nov, Dec 2017 and even in Jan  , Feb 2018

We made most profit mining in Nov, Dec 2017
We made most profit selling gear in Jan, Feb 2018

this is nice, the frame looks like a "Spotswood" , i find myself wondering if thats where the inspiration was drawn from Smiley

@Phil, you said you tested it with your longest 1080ti, how about WIDEST?  i didnt see reference to if this would fit say maybe x16 1080ti AMP! extremes, or if maybe dual-slotx16 is max width? or even less?

thanks for the thread, loving it!

Please  I deleted your post. I have not tested it since  It arrives in 3 days.

The frame should use the same aluminum that my waterblock Spotswood uses .

ugh, and people wonder why the forums eliteist attitude pushes people away.
w.e, thats what i get trying to engage with you, take care then,i wont be ordering one, sour taste now from this

I simply  said you were in error.

I can not allow an error to stand without a correction.
I quoted your error for all to see it. Here is why:  This is expensive gear  I don't want anyone to think 1080tis  have been tested in it since I don't have the gear as of now. When I get the gear I will try to test some of my 1080ti's in it.

Look we all make errors we are humans plain and simple.
I do not want you to be offended  I am a regular guy not an elitist type at all.
You may have thought  I wrote I tested 1080tis in this gear so to be clear I have not done that at all.
