2101  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: GPU vs FPGA help me out.. on: March 31, 2012, 08:31:44 PM
let me clarify

I want YOUR opinion on what direction you would go..

If bitcoin WERE to fail... would you rather have all the gpus you could sell and get something back..

or....

have a bunch of fpgas just sitting there with no purpose and you cant get much if anything back if you were to sell them...

IN THE EVENT BITCOIN FAILED

..

I want to know some of the peoples opinions..  what could and would you do with fgpas if bitcoin were to dry up..

Hi dirtycat,

Both GPUs and FPGAs can be reprogrammed to do other tasks which is good if bitcoin fails. GPUs would probably have a higher resale value that FPGAs but if bitcoin does fail, the second hand market for GPUs is going to be flooded and prices will most likely collapse for 1 to 3 months.

So either way, if you are looking at resale value if bitcoin failed, you would probably be out most of your money.

A better way to think about bitcoin failing is to figure out what else you can do with GPUs and FPGAs that is profitable.

Best regards,
gigavps

Quick question guys. Is there a place where you can see the list of the payouts we get from GPUMax? Can't find it anywhere on the website.

This feature has not been implemented yet.

Pirate, could you announce when price of shares drops?
Twice a day... my workers falls private than....

The weighted average now moves whenever a miner changes their share price. I think it would be kind of hard to announce.
2105  Other / Off-topic / Re: Butterfly Labs - Bitforce Single and Rig Box on: March 31, 2012, 06:40:33 PM
Word is now mid April.   Cry Cry Cry
Mid April for what?  An order placed in Jan?

If anyone would like to sell their place in line for a single, rig box or mini rig box please PM me. I will be more than happy to purchase them.
2106  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [410GH] ABCPool PPS - Proxy Pool For High & Steady Mining Rewards on: March 31, 2012, 02:41:38 PM
The 4670 is showing 0 Mh/s on the site, and the 5970 and the x6500 between them are only showing 280Mh/s...
Very low stales on my end but the shares just don't seem to be getting counted [...].
A 5970 should definitely be getting more than 280Mh/s even on its own. If you PM me your ABC username I'll investigate your case.

Has your miner been idling? I'm asking because we noticed (and fixed) an issue that caused some of the work packets to be potentially incompatible with some mining clients for the last ~3 days. It can only have impacted a very small amount of users because overall hashrate did not change.

Would this have anything to do with the 30% stales you were submitting to Ozcoin the other day?

30% is a small percentage?
2107  Economy / Services / Re: [Debt Sale] Selling 52.41 BTC debt for 15 BTC on: March 31, 2012, 11:38:44 AM
As a last word on this topic, I have donated the proceeds of this debt sale to the BAMT creator for his efforts on his wonderful software.
2108  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [410GH] ABCPool PPS - Proxy Pool For High & Steady Mining Rewards on: March 31, 2012, 11:15:45 AM
ABCPool is not the so-called Mystery Miner.

I wish all your replies in this thread were this direct.  Roll Eyes
2109  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Wonder who this solominer is? 88.6.216.9 on: March 31, 2012, 11:12:29 AM
Sorry for coming in late on this thread, but ... is there some
sort of  BIP in the works to enforce stricter rules on block validity ?

This is the first time we have seen anything that could be considered malicious from the Mystery Miner. Most have not considered the 1tx blocks to be malicious in anyway as they help further secure transactions further back in the chain.
2110  Economy / Services / Re: GPUMAX | The Bitcoin Mining Marketplace on: March 31, 2012, 12:15:15 AM
the purchase system is unreliable.

sometime it starts within 20 minutes, sometimes it's 9 hours later.

If you can do better, please go build it.
2111  Economy / Services / Re: [GLBSE] Feedback wanted: Gigamining, the first 5Mh/s mining bond on: March 30, 2012, 09:57:51 PM
Holy crap! There are the crown jewels!

I'm left kinda envious (in a good way!)

Thanks Kaos. It's more work that probably any miner would like to admit. Smiley

So I think the 1 BTC price mark is where it's at. Does anyone have any opinions on when to issue this thing? I was originally thinking of waiting until the equipment arrives, but I would like to get some more feedback.

Best,
gigavps

Any idea how long the waiting list is right now? I just signed up a few minutes ago, and am waiting. A day? Week? Huh

forever.....

Is there a way to do auto fan while using phoenix? Or is that only for cgminer?

cgminer only.
2114  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Using a 220V wash machine outlet for power..... on: March 30, 2012, 12:41:13 AM
I'm just looking out for yochdog's eyebrows......
2115  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Using a 220V wash machine outlet for power..... on: March 29, 2012, 11:35:19 PM
How about getting a gas dryer??? The outlet & all its glory will be yours Grin

this is what I am thinking now....

Until you spark the gas with your miners. I have noticed that plugging things into 208v seems to always give a little spark on initial contact.
2116  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Orlando Bitcoin Meetup - Wednesday 1/11 on: March 29, 2012, 10:01:46 PM
Anyone in Orlando want to get together. I'll be arriving in a few hours, maybe staying a few days, not sure.

How does Dicks take coin? Will they give me firstbits? I don't have a phone with scanner thingy. They have wi-fi?

I'll be a corona cigar bar around the corner. Should be there by 6:30pm.
2117  Economy / Services / Re: [Debt Sale] Selling 52.41 BTC debt for 15 BTC on: March 29, 2012, 09:05:28 PM
Now that this is done, what's to stop Andrew from buying his own debt and would you have settled for 15 BTC from him?

That is an interesting question. I'm not sure to be honest.
2118  Economy / Services / Re: Shades Minoco / Shakaru / Collections / Debt on: March 29, 2012, 06:41:51 PM
I am pleased to announce that my debt has been sold to juggalodarkclow. Please update all relevant documentation to reflect this change.

I don't understand what any of this means...Who do I send my money to?

That's the point... make them so hard to understand that you just make money!!!
If we issues CDS' on Pirate debt would Pirate get to buy his own CDS' ?  He is a Pirate after all Smiley

Nope. We really don't want to give anyone an incentive (or lower the disincentive) to default Smiley

It's just a matter of making the chain long enough
until it's too hard to see it.

Next up, CDOs (and synthetic ones!). Let's see if we can replicate the mortgage crisis, guys Smiley

I only have one question. Who's going to bail you out when you are too big to fail?
