2121  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [~10ghs] BitMinersUnion.org *LP*JSON*FULL8* AUTO POOL HOP PROTECTION on: August 23, 2011, 03:05:57 PM
I am currently looking for someone to help me run this pool, someone with vision, with motivation and preferably with your own hashing power.

the co-founder of this pool had to step down because he does not have time for it, he will greatly be missed he was brilliant.

If you think you have what it takes send an email to admin@bitminersunion.org with what you have to offer.

and dont you worry loyal miners no matter what happens we are going to keep this running and get this stubborn 3rd block solved.
2122  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [~10ghs] BitMinersUnion.org *LP*JSON*FULL8* AUTO POOL HOP PROTECTION on: August 23, 2011, 02:55:29 PM
thanks for your opinion, jpinconline,

I am not sure where we are going to go, you have been a loyal miner its opinions of guys like you that I really appreciate it - dont worry after talking to my co-admin PPLNS is not going to happen - he simply does not have the time to completely recode everything including our database

I just want this pool to work, we had this idea to make a pool that would appeal to your average bitcoin miner, we have been trying to implement all your input and ideas and make this a pool you would love to mine at.

this pool hopping thing has made a huge division in the mining world and it seems that everyone has to take a side in this - like it or not

we have always had this proportional / decaying shares system but we try not to give out all the details of how it works - as soon as you do that you have people abusing it, but we have always been vocal to the fact that we have a mechanism in place to deter pool hopping.

2123  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [~50ghs] BitMinersUnion.org *LP*JSON*FULL8*SECURE*STABLE* JOIN THE UNION on: August 23, 2011, 02:13:59 PM
First of all, please understand that we have never and would never manually remove anyone's shares.

As is stated on the main page of this thread

"We pay with a modified share based proportional payout system. The payout system has been hard coded with a mechanism to protect Union members from cheating via excessive pool hopping"

We have hard coded into our system a mechanism based on a math formula. For security reasons I am not going to give you the exact details
but basically if you pool hop excessively your shares are automatically halved.

No one has ever had their shares halved for simply "trying the pool"

I understand that Pool Hopping is a controversial subject right now - and we were recently listed on a article saying we were "pool hop friendly" this is simply not the case.  They assumed that because we do share based proportional payouts that we were pool hop friendly. Many people have called proportional payout broken, and in a sense it is - unless you modify it - which we have.

You can not honestly say that you have triggered this mechanism, lost your shares and you were not pool hopping - if you are trying to say you were not pool hopping I simply do not believe you - we have been using this system since day one of our pool, you are not the first to lose their shares due to hopping and you will probably not be the last.

Please do not be angry at me because you believed an article that said we were pool hop friendly and were not.

I hope I am very clear to everyone, especially those who have invested a lot of time and hashing power on this treacherous third block, I do not want anyone to lose there shares so please do not pool hop at my pool - if you do - you will not be happy.

edit:

I also added "AUTO POOL HOP PROTECTION" to the title of our thread so there is no mistaking this
you do not want to pool hop here.

also I have added a poll, we have been considering switching to PPLNS payout system
and would like everyone's opinon on it
2124  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [~50ghs] BitMinersUnion.org *LP*JSON*FULL8*SECURE*STABLE* JOIN THE UNION on: August 23, 2011, 12:02:13 PM
damn man pushpoold crashed last night some time, but dont worry bitcoind was still up so we did not lose the block we were working on.

Im really sorry about this brothers, I hope you guys were able to mine somewhere else and not not lose mining time (like I did)

the pool is back up now, a crazy hard block is the worst thing for any small pool, and I am sure this downtime is not helping

I have some big promotional plans in store I am kinda waiting until this damn 3rd block is solved before I unveil them,

I want to go big on the 4th block, I have found a way to restructure the daily reward payments in a way that will work for me
so those are likely to come back on the 4th block, I also have some awesome new features and promotions coming along so stay tuned

looks like most miners are coming back now - make sure you come back and mine with us guys and help us finish this 3rd block to maximize the reward you have worked so hard on earning. And dont worry bros i got some plans for block #4

damn i need some coffee

thats awesome man, im glad its working for you!

If anyone else has to mine from behind a firewall

you can point your miners to 80.bitminersunion.org port :80

most any office firewall will allow traffic on port 80
so here is your ticket to mine Smiley

thanks to runlinux for holding us accountable to make it better
2126  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [~50ghs] BitMinersUnion.org *LP*JSON*8.INSTAPAY*SHA512* - THE MINERS POOL on: August 22, 2011, 12:12:39 PM
Wow, this block has been a killer gentleman.

We are at almost 2 Mil Shares!

and I appreciate you guys not giving up - this block cannot go on too much longer.

After this block when we start on our fourth block I will be starting some new promotions to get some new miners and new hashing speed, and I am actually thinking of restarting the rewards payment program in some form or another if I can find a way to make it work.

so dont give up brothers after this block our luck is bound to change!

I am also looking for miners who want to step up and give me some good feedback and things you would like to see improved around here

email : admin@bitminersunion.org

have a great day!!!!

Gentleman,

I know this block as been difficult, but DON'T GET DISCOURAGED! We are at almost 1.6 Million Shares and I am sure this block will get solved soon! Also our luck is likely to improve on the next block so keep on mining!

This week we have some new features and improvements coming up - if you have any ideas on how we can make your pool better let me know!

We are constantly improving the stats system and we are currently working on an iPhone/Android app, Live Tech Support from the web site, and I am considering reinstating daily reward payments in one form or another. Also I have been paying attention to the votes on the poll and so far it looks like I will be raffling off some piece of PC Hardware to one lucky miner who helps us get Block #4 !

If you have any ideas at all for us send an email to admin@bitminersunion.org

keep mining bro's block 3 is almost dead!

everythings up. I just restarted pushpoold cause the stats were going crazy - my programmer just coded new block stats page yesterday and apparently it went haywire, things are working fine now... check into see what the problem was...

please do not troll in here looking for ways to try and make me look bad.

In my personal opinion It surprised me that we could come up with a way for him to mine on the same port on the same server that we use for http

this is something my co-admin came up in order to help this gentleman bypass the strict firewall rules at his work place
excuse me for marveling at that.

just because you have a nasty attitude - don't assume I do as well!

and btw: if it is such a simple and easy thing why dont you tell us how we can make it work better, instead of insulting us.

Is this not what the forums are for? so we can get feedback and help eachother?

or were these forums intended for us to troll around and knock each other down when ever we get a chance to?

im not your enemy brother I am sorry you are so offended by my comments I really am. If there is anything I can do to make it up to you please let me know.

2134  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [~50ghs] BitMinersUnion.org *LP*JSoN*8.INSTAPAY*SHA512* - THE MINERS POOL on: August 19, 2011, 08:01:51 PM
well - port 80 is tricky.

The reason your work only has port 80 open is likely because it is the same port as http
any web server operates on port 80

on our server we have a web server running as well for the front end to our pool

we had to setup a proxy server in order to funnel the traffic from port 80 to port 8341

if you ask me its quite a remarkable thing that it works as well as it does
if we were not running a web server it would be easy to have mining on port 80 with no problems what so ever
hypothetically we can run it on any port we want with no issues but port 80 is taken by web traffic.

2135  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [~50ghs] BitMinersUnion.org *LP*JSoN*8.INSTAPAY*SHA512* - THE MINERS POOL on: August 19, 2011, 05:48:39 PM
Block #3 is likely to be solved before tomorrow - with that being said I would like to have a promotion for block #4

if you scroll up to the top of the page you can take the poll, The option with the most votes by the time we start block #4 will be the promotion I go with.

This gives me a better idea as to what is important to our miners, its all about you guys we could not do this without you.

So please take the poll and let me know!

Also Evan001 When you get your xfx 5770 (should be today) please take a picture with yourself holding the card and email it to admin@bitminersunion.org

thanks!

Reset Password  is not sending out instructions.
Submit button on that page reads ""Send me instructions for reseting my email

thanks for pointing that out to me Eskimo Bob, my programmer is checking into it as we speak. I know he was just working on the code for the password reset yesterday so there could be a small bug in it , ill let you know when its fixed. thanks again for pointing that out bro.

Here is the link to my original thread about the shares from the old pool.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=32921.msg453945#msg453945

as I stated in the thread in order to receive your shares from the old pool you had to come back and mine our first block

Yesterday I paid out a great deal of final daily reward payments along with payments for shares from miners who not only were mining when we stopped the old pool but who also received a reward from our first block

I have already spoken to Jim64 we had a special arrangement. Runlinux and iopaq I dont believe you mined on the first block but I will check the database again, unfortunately its kind of an arduous thing pouring over shares and doing math and all this (I hate math) so its possible I missed you but I will check again.

if there is anyone else that feels they should of been paid from old shares from the old pool and have not please go read the link to the thread at the top of this post and send an email to admin@bitminersunion.org - do not worry if you are owed anything you will be paid, please understand this is all stuff I have to do by hand while handling a bunch of other stuff so if i missed you I am sorry.
