So when's the N++ shift and difficulty drop?

It makes 0 sense to have a bunch of 7xxx cards mining LTC with Idle cpus which could generate even $.10 per month.
Tell you what all mighty, give me and everyone else using our spare cpu cycles $1 a month and we'll stop? No? not a good deal?
If the added load on the CPUs cost more than they rake in, they are losing you money not gaining money, so unless you are just making sure you get the max electricity your rent includes, or are stealing the use of other people's CPUs, it is not always economical to run the CPUs mining something compared to letting them idle. Mining BTC with CPU early was not profitable but it turned out Satoshi and early adopters made amazing deal out of it later. There is no reason why YAC could not end same way. Yeah, people are starting to care that BTC is slow... YAC be fast.

I have just finished porting scrypt-jane implementation from Yacoin. So enjoy the new CPU-only cryptocurrency.
Is this launched now? To be successful, you need to make the official launch clear somehow and give some advanced notice. So, what's unique about your coin anyway, other than the position of the decimal place?

Although I've noticed the same, it could be just a temporary fluke as some people isn't confident yet to sleep on their yacs. ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) I'm holdin' my Yacs.

I like all these different altcoin ideas mixing around.
So long as there's _an_ idea to experiment with, then I am happy. Otherwise, if it's just a silly name or hype, then I'm not happy and ignore it.
Elacoin sounds interesting, so I am keen.

you cant atm...
yac uses scrypt-jane, and is/was designed to be cpu mined only..
If you could, it would be the end of yac, as its core ethos would be pointless
If you think a GPU miner can't be coded for it, you're mistaken. Both chacha20 and keccak have faster throughputs than salsa20 and sha2-256, and the value of N right now should provide extremely good GPU performance. Except N will change _tomorrow_ and then what?

Bter seems to be down (404) edited: looks like a small lag, not a problem Nice bullish Yack. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

If you want to mine bitcoins you'll need asics (spend a lot of money up front and wait several months), but if you want to mine yacoins you'll need servers with two or four cpus (buy them online and wait 5 days for them to arrive)...yac is going to be a better option in the long run to keep the power decentralized

YAC price on bter.com overtakes CNC. No surprise.
Can't wait to see what happens between now and May 14th.

Wow - that got to the exchange quick. Anyway, I'm glad it can be traded more easily now. However, the primary goal is to get merchants using YAC. No merchant will accept YAC or any other coin except BTC just like that. YAC network and community must show they stand behind the coin, not jump off it as soon as yet another idiot releases pointless altcoin. There are too many cryptocoins out there right now, so if you expect YAC to become something special you should work on it becoming something special. Just pointing your hashpower into it makes no difference really. Coin supply will be the same regardless of hashrate given that hashpower is constant for long period of time. It was community efforts what made BTC what it is today. Well said. People should unite to make YAC all it can be. I've used it and I love it. The transaction speedup _is_ a big deal for consumers. You know what they say, "time is money". Adue

The question is, does it matter?
The only thing making YAC stand out is it's use of an alternate scrypt library... making all other miners unusable. My real question -- what happens when someone subs the alt-scrypt implementation into cgminer... then where will the coin be?
Umm... The coin will adjust it's scrypt N scaling parameter and become harder for GPUs, while lowering difficulty to become easier for CPUs. This happens over scheduled period. May 14, N=64, 8Kb May 17, N=128, 16Kb May 20, N=256, 32Kb May 29, N=512, 64Kb ... Does anyone read http://www.yacoin.org/about.html ?
