2121  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin guerilla marketing - Thats almost worth my bitcoins... on: July 09, 2011, 10:44:33 PM
Just a quick thought - video montage of things you can buy with one bitcoin.

Tagline "I'd buy that for a bitcoin."

Could catch someone's eye - include the link to commerce on the wiki, in addition to the newer sites that have sprung up.
2122  Economy / Marketplace / Re: THE Place to Shop w/ Bitcoin: BitCoinWorldMarket.com on: July 09, 2011, 10:23:53 PM
Actually to be honest our cost is $59.00  for that 16Gb Card

When was the last time a merchant told you their cost? We are not looking to rip anyone off. Please take your Trolling elsewhere.

Don't sweat it, Jalum is a recognized troll here. Good responses, though.
2123  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who is spamming Youtube with bitcoin tags and posts and Why? on: July 09, 2011, 10:05:25 PM
Not really happy about it, though.

Why not? Anyone who falls for this shit deserves it. On the other hand, any publicity is good publicity.

I dislike spammers and predatory online practices. Don't think it would be a positive force for bitcoin.
2124  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is the Bitcoin falling ? DDOS breaks almost every major Pool on: July 09, 2011, 10:04:16 PM
We'll end up learning our lesson if the major pools get DDoSed one day, simultaneously. The way things have been escalating, I wouldn't be too surprised if this happened.
2125  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who is spamming Youtube with bitcoin tags and posts and Why? on: July 09, 2011, 09:44:11 PM
I guess bitcoin is hitting the 'big time' if spammers are using it as bait. Not really happy about it, though. Or as other threads suggest, another facet to the anti-bitcoin psyops? I wouldn't be surprised.
2126  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hypothetical Bitcoin clone except backed by gold on: July 09, 2011, 09:41:05 PM
As others have said, give it a shot. You'll have a lot of work to overcome, though. (As in, the cumulative effort put forth for bitcoin since 2009.)

I find these ideas amusing, because it is human nature to force new ideas to 'adapt' to previous ones. It's like taking a look at a car, and deciding to weld some metal loops and supports on the frame so a horse can pull it. Just doesn't make sense, really.
2127  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin on AlJazeera on: July 09, 2011, 09:36:57 PM
Just so people know, the bitcoin clip is near the end of the show, around the last five minutes. I agree, the anti-bitcoin pundit was rather oblique and he really didn't say much. Of course, he works for Wired, which has fallen in quality over the past two decades. I wouldn't put much into it.
2128  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin will never reach $20 again on: July 09, 2011, 07:15:03 PM
BTC 'Economist' - We'd better get this out of the way - since you'll be proven wrong in the coming weeks.

Enjoy your trophy of forum fail.
2129  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Something Awful likes Bitcoin Weekly comics. on: July 09, 2011, 03:06:15 AM

Are you on a magazine right now, or are you on a website?

I'm reading a pedantic lickspittle's idea of witty prose.
2130  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Something Awful likes Bitcoin Weekly comics. on: July 09, 2011, 02:33:55 AM

Oh you mean a website.  Ahh see you said magazine.  That actually has a specific meaning in English.  Like when I go to the newstand and pick up a copy of The Economist, that's a magazine.

Yeah grandpa, they're right next to the buggy whips and the guy who's selling stamps for air-mail to Siam.

Get with the program.
2131  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who's buying? on: July 09, 2011, 02:32:08 AM
The price seems to be fairly stable right now,

Bitcoins: if the price hasn't changed by more than 15% in the past 60 minutes, it's stable.

Yeah, no kidding. From a market that swings 2 dollars easy, anything less seems pretty flat.
2132  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Something Awful likes Bitcoin Weekly comics. on: July 09, 2011, 02:30:24 AM
I don't really care what goons think as long as they read my magazine.  Wink

Also, I welcome the modification and photoshopping of bitcoin weekly comics.

I like them, keep it going!
2133  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Something Awful likes Bitcoin Weekly comics. on: July 09, 2011, 02:23:21 AM

Wow you have 4600 posts on a forum dedicated to bitcoin crypto-currency.

How do I get dollar capital for my project?  Let me summarize said project:

It's essentially a capitalist version of mass delusion.  You stand in a circle, and you hand dollars to the person on your left, in the hopes that the person on your right hands more money to you.  There's one or two reserve banks in the middle of the circle who take a small amount of dollars from everyone's hands every time it goes around.  New people can join by just entering the circle and handing dollars to the person on their left.  No one will ever leave the circle because they're too proud of this stupid circle and amazed at how it goes round and round like a NASCAR race.

Fixed that for you.

2135  Other / Off-topic / Re: Zoographical list of troll types. on: July 09, 2011, 12:24:53 AM
Security Troll: (addition)

The "I knew I had a virus on my machine but my wallet got stolen, wah, wah, waaaaaah" troll. Very closely related to the "Hey guys, I lost an (unprovable amount, just points to the blockchain) and I should get donations to get it back" troll.

It amuses me that they think we can't see through their hucksterism.
2136  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bye Bitcoin! on: July 09, 2011, 12:11:47 AM
It is now 12:09am Saturday UTC - Mt.Gox Last: 14.30

Thanks lardycake, the entertainment value has been quite enjoyable. Here's your "Bitcoin Forum Fail Award", with the golden keyboard to remind you to think before you post.

Enjoy!

UTC 5:41pm - Mt.Gox Last: 14.399

Guess we're letting this go until midnight UTC? I'm cool with that.
2138  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bye Bitcoin! on: July 08, 2011, 04:21:58 PM
04:21pm UTC Time - Last at Mt.Gox: 14.50

Tick Tock...
2139  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bye Bitcoin! on: July 08, 2011, 04:57:36 AM
Larry was smart enough to say ON Friday and not BY Friday so indeed he has a few more hours. Not for nothing but I think UTC should be our measure of the day. Especially since references to EST keep being made and it won't be EST until November.

Okay, to be clear - its Friday 04:56am UTC - Mt.Gox Last: 14.72
2140  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bye Bitcoin! on: July 08, 2011, 04:04:37 AM
Lets give him all day friday, just for laughs.

Just as a benchmark, 12:04 midnight Friday - Mt.Gox Last: 14.87
