2121  Economy / Speculation / Re: Welcome back $700 BTC ... on: March 04, 2014, 11:41:15 PM
The market responded MOST to NOTHING -- was was actually people trading because the market was rising, and responded least to the actual app, what a shame that the news about 'something about to be announced' garnered more market appreciation than the actual news -- the very definition of anticlimactic.   You could expect the market to shave off some %s in the coming days unless there is sustained hype until some meaningful changes is applied to the protocol or how exchanges are fundamentally doing business.

I completely disagree with you.

And the bold part, that's how ALL markets are

There were many things that the btc market, with baited breath, was anticipating: some hoped for a revelation about Mark, one hoped for news about a big bank endorsement of btc, and I hoped for an announcement about a btc protocol security upgrade ...

That bank endorsement would have given btc a large hype boost, my suggestion would have provide a true market value boost, and the first option would have probably gotten a longer lasting positive market reaction than the app.

Hype is the primarily driver of btc market prices, has been since it broke $100, now that one tire is flat (the protocol security issue) the standard hype just doesn't go as far anymore.   The exchanges need to announce massive improvement to their business models, and the btc protocol must be significantly enhanced, if you want long-term sustainable growth.

Poloniex just got robbed, made a responsible public announcement which included draconian measures, including a forced loan from all btc holders (12%+ btc value) to help them recover.    Given the Mt Gox situation the community essentially welcomed the announcement with open arms -- mass PTSD.

2122  Economy / Speculation / Re: Welcome back $700 BTC ... on: March 04, 2014, 10:10:56 PM
Seriously, we are excited about $700 now? We were over $1000 just 3 months ago... we are aiming too low my brothers

BTC in all reality has an true market value of $400, it's unreasonable to appraise it any higher on practical grounds.    Given that the gox matter is not finally resolved we are exremely lucky it isn't on a perpetual downward slide.  The simple fact is most of btc's success is hype driven driven so hard it stuck (no one does it better than dodgecoin), if you remove the media hype and all other hype btc is worth $400.

What do you think raised the market value from avg $565 to present avg $685?  Certainly not the app, it was three things:
1) the market movement,
2) the hype ABOUT something new to come
and
3) to a far less degree the app

The market responded MOST to NOTHING -- was was actually people trading because the market was rising, and responded least to the actual app, what a shame that the news about 'something about to be announced' garnered more market appreciation than the actual news -- the very definition of anticlimactic.   You could expect the market to shave off some %s in the coming days unless there is sustained hype until some meaningful changes is applied to the protocol or how exchanges are fundamentally doing business.

2124  Other / Off-topic / Congratulations To Socheat Lim of Cambodia, Certified Armis Instructor on: March 04, 2014, 09:41:04 PM
Armis is pleased to announce our newest Certified Armis Instructor, Socheat Lim of Cambodia.  Mr. Lim is a professional translator specializing in communications involving Khmer, Mandarin, and English.  Born and raised in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, early in his childhood Socheat gravitated to challenging games: “I started to get interested in puzzle games during my childhood when I got my first jigsaw puzzle.  After completing the jigsaw puzzle, I was always happy as it made me feel like I have achieved something by my own hands”. Socheat said.

Like many boys growing up around the world, Socheat played action video games like Warcraft and Plants Vs Zombies, but it was the strategy games he somehow felt connected to, these were the games that continued to challenge him mentally, games like Risk, Go, and especially Chinese Chess - his favorite board game.

Strategy games rely on a player’s mental capacity to outwit his opponent, this differs from most other games that primarily rely on luck (roll of the dice, and/or pick of a card) to win.  Brain games are often distinguished from strategy games in that they focus on static information you may know, and how fast you process it.  Strategy board games are affectionately considered brain games because they are often accompanied by lots and lots of meaningful thinking.

Checkers, and warri (also called mancala) are perhaps the most basic of strategy board games, these games are played more for fun than competition so they don’t often get to enjoy the ‘strategy game’ cache.  In both games all of the individual player pieces essentially have the same power, duty, and movement ability.

The board game called “Go” is very similar to checkers and warri in the power, duty, and movement ability categories, however it is often played competitively as such often called a strategy board game.

Chess is the most well known of all strategy board games.  In our opinion it rises above the previously mentioned games in that various player pieces have different powers, duties, and movement abilities, these differences add a layer of complexity to the game.

Armis is the newest member of the strategy board game family, it is distinguished from the others in many ways, so much so that we believe Armis is the first HIGH strategy board game.  Here are some major distinguishing characteristics:

1)  asymmetric game board,
2)  5 different environments (land, air, coastal waters, deep surface waters, and deep submerged waters)
3)  some pieces have conditional powers,
4)   identical not mirrored setup
and
5)  there are over a million ways to properly setup

Armis was created in the USA for brain game enthusiasts worldwide, it is currently played online in over 130 countries.  Some say playing Armis is like playing Chess, Checkers, Risk, and Stratego all at the same time.

Way too long.  I'd give you retail .com fee + maybe 15%...maybe

Thank you for your kind offer sir, however it's too low.

You will find the length to be most appropriate.   'Crypto' applies to many things, sadly many in this forum wrongfully believe it only applied to currency,  another misconception is that one could substitute the word 'coin' for 'currency', in speaking and common communications that is true, however if you want to be taken seriously across the board you used the 'real name' not the 'nic nam'.  Lastly, University could be abbreviated many different ways, but here again the full word makes the most long-term sense.

If the rate is too high for an outright sale I'm willing to partner on web development.

Thanks again for your offer.

enjoy

2128  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Nakamoto, Satoshi, New Info, hopes it clears up some stuff. on: March 04, 2014, 02:20:30 PM
Satoshi Nakamoto first started working on the Bitcoin protocol in 2007 when he was 53 years old. As many of you suspected, he didn't work on it alone, but rather received assistance from a few others. His real name isn't Satoshi Nakamoto, but it's very similar, both in amount of letters in first and last name, as well as syllables.. Bitcoin wasn't meant to be as huge and well established as it today, was more of a quirky "project" at the time, and was actually modeled after the U.S Dollar, but since he meant for it to be entirely virtual, this made it decentralized(Also why Bitcoin is not 100% anonymous aka Public Ledger). He's also Japanese American.

Many of you are asking, why didn't/doesn't Satoshi use the vast amount of Bitcoin's he has? Well the answer is simple, he's a modest type of guy, not into being famous, and receiving too much attention.(He does indeed have a Bitcoin account as of right now, though of course none of you know it's him..) Plus he suspected that being in control of that many Bitcoins would devalue his "project" in the eyes of others, particularly when Bitcoin was just released to the public. Besides, he's official "retired" now, and I can assure you, his salary before retirement was well over $100,000. Ftw, retirement fund. ...

Anyway, that's a small amount of info on Satoshi Nakamoto(alias). ...

2129  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Place LIMIT orders on Coinbase - online app on: March 04, 2014, 01:27:20 PM
After registering on Coinbase I was surprised there is no way to place my order at $600 and wait for the price to drop to meet the order.

/// 4th January:
Released: http://coinbaseorders.com/
Github: https://github.com/tomholub/coinbaseorders

The system checks the price on Coinbase every second and will buy or sell if the price is right based on your orders.

how does this work in terms of intergration with my coinbase account? take to time to explain in detail ie:

1) click on: coinbaseorders.com
2) ...
2130  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Place LIMIT orders on Coinbase - online app on: March 04, 2014, 01:20:45 PM
Right now we have about 22 users.

Just curious, how many of those users have connected their Coinbase account? Great site, although I personally don't use Coinbase to trade because of their high 1% fee.

is there an alternative that is as safe?
2131  Economy / Speculation / Re: This Recent Market Surge, Are You Buying, Selling, or Just Looking? on: March 04, 2014, 12:39:37 PM
My original plan was to hodl but the spike was so ridiculous that I had to make a couple quick shotrs from 710 to 670 and 700 to 650. Now I am hodling again. Quick shotrs are the best ones - the ones where I can get in and out in 15 minutes without trying to guess the trend and hold fiat for an extended amount of time. For example I know I might be able able to short again and prices might even reach as low as 610 but I'm not bothering right now.

Yeah, I just sold at $710 and placed an buy order at 665$. After it got filled it rose again to 700$ and I sold again, placing a buy order at 650$. After this got filled, I sold at 700$ and placed a buy order at 665$ and after it got filled... ahm do you still believe me?

hahahahaha, I was believing you, sadly it seems you don't believe, if coinbase had limit orders I would be set.
2132  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Fastest Way to Make a Bitcoin? on: March 04, 2014, 04:41:13 AM
i made lots of btc from trading.
alot!!!
started with less than you.
everything i bought went up atleast 3 times or 5 times the price i bought at.
i bought bitcoin first with pocket money. it went up
then i bought peercoin with it. it went up.
then i bought litecoin . it went up.
then i bought dogecoin. it went up.
then i bought ultracoin. it went up.

i was looking for the next thing to buy for weeks now.

i was going to buy auroracoin last week. i actually sent money to poloniex to buy it but i got scared and didnt buy it. it went up 20 times the price i could have bought it at.

these things happen alot . you need to look at http://coinmarketcap.com/ and see the coins, read about them, then pick one.

now all i do all day is buy and sell btc on bitstamp and btc-e. i make about 250 usd a day. sometimes like today i make a few thousand.
once you have enough money to trade btc like that use http://bitcoinwisdom.com/

once you make you first btc dont spend it please. use it to trade and make more.
i could have stopped when i made my first btc but i didnt. i made more and more and now i dont know where to put them.

oh and remember dont play poker and dont play dice because those are the best ways to LOSE money.

I think you have a gift, let me know if you want to join me with one of my cryptocurrency projects

we could partner up for doing:

She's backkkkkk sweet and sexy $700, go ahead baby, do your thing ...  Tongue

2136  Economy / Speculation / Re: This Recent Market Surge, Are You Buying, Selling, or Just Looking? on: March 04, 2014, 02:24:40 AM
I picked some up on coinbase around $400 during the last flash crash...  As I am sure all of you have now noticed, the bad news does not bring the prices down nearly as much as it used to.   The news that we have been hit with over the past few months far surpasses that of Silk Road 1.... but bitcoin's resilience is growing stronger day by day

The lowest I got out of coinbase was $508, the lowest I saw was $505 I didn't take it because I was going for the 400 range which never materialized for me.  It must have occurred while I was sleeping.   Which there were limit orders for coinbase

2137  Economy / Economics / Re: Market Rate Essentially Flat Past 8 hrs on: March 04, 2014, 02:09:47 AM

Looks like I messed up when I didn't buy last night for $620 CDN. With a few of the reports I read last night, I figured I could get in for below $600 when I woke up, now its hitting $715. Hopefully it will drop down to $700 or maybe I should just bite the bullet  and jump in at $715.

The hype news is likely about a phone app, that should be worth about a $100 bounce over two days, to me that is from the previous high ($596), which means were are already there.  Since I won't allow myself to believe that anticipated knowledge is better than actual knowledge I'm hoping the market reacts to the news over and above where it is now.

So I'm buying anything under $700. but saving the majority of funds for a dip that will inevitable occur (just hope I see it) around $650.  [all $ references are  USD]

2138  Economy / Speculation / Re: This Recent Market Surge, Are You Buying, Selling, or Just Looking? on: March 04, 2014, 01:35:04 AM
Bought at $434

Sold at $693

I will buy more as prices fall again

wow, i'm exceedingly jealous

where did you get the $434 from?  [please don't say coinbase]

you guessed it Smiley

well now $693 is the old $434, and I just bought at $687  hahahahahaaa ... meet my new best friends: 'volatility' and 'media hype'  with them 8 days is two weeks worth of business.

2139  Economy / Speculation / Re: This Recent Market Surge, Are You Buying, Selling, or Just Looking? on: March 04, 2014, 01:32:55 AM

I have heard from a few credible sources that a major bank is going to be publicly backing bitcoin soon.   I don't know if this is the news that is dropping tomorrow, but I think this news is not too far along the horizon...

I'd love it if such new broke, but I can tell you this no major or minor bank will sign one give the present protocol, far too risky.

However, if my guess is right about the news -- that new security features are coming to the protocol, then that paves the way for your idea and a substantial market surge.
2140  Economy / Economics / Re: Market Rate Essentially Flat Past 8 hrs on: March 04, 2014, 01:27:20 AM
It will be interesting to see if this rally will continue or if prices will dip back down to where they started
My guess is that it stays around $630. From experience the BTC usually goes up weirdly fast then a deep drop and stable for a few days.

in light of new development, I think your $630 is not a bargain basement price for tue and wed
