@ Cfb

A few days ago you mentioned that soon the network will be able to forge constant blocks every 60,000 ms...I have been thinking on this and my conclusion is that with the current network size every account which is able to forge will be forging blocks on a daily basis...well at least the major ones.

theoretical limit?
2163  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Nxt :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: January 13, 2014, 09:32:44 AM
What is the size limit of a single message?

1000 bytes currently.

so does that mean msg size can be increased?

I THINK SOMEONE SHOULD REALLY MANAGE THIS GERMAN POKER FORUM OPPORTUNITY ON A STRATEGIC LEVEL.

6 MILLION POKER PLAYERS.....WHO ALL LIKE TO GAMBLE AND MAKE MONEY.....THE GERMAN GOVERNMENT IS ALSO VERY RECEPTIVE OF CRYPTO'S.

THIS SHOULD BE A STRATEGIC MARKET.

Yes, poker players are important.
Also they could do a little freeroll tournament where the prizes will be NXT and introduce it this way...

And with your Euro/Nxt gate....it will be even easier for them to buy into Nxt.

Is anyone going to become an NXT/fiat gateway when Asset Exchange is launched? I know about only 1 such case.

We are working on putting a very simple broker type of service were people can buy NXT with EUR.
It will be very very simple and the sole purpose of it is going to be just give "easier" way of buying NXT without going through the hassle of getting btc and then converting.
I hope we will be ready in 1-2 weeks.

YES!  Grin

welcome, welcome.

To NXT devs and DGEX! It is very important !

1)
The DEVs are thinking if the price of NXT is low, people are willing to buy NXT, but it is wrong, people would buy coins when see price rising!

2)
We'll see on December 25 last year at around, price around 0.00012 NXT, why do so many people buy DGEX 24H turnover of more than 20 million NXT?
Now, on January 12, the trading volume was more than 1 million NXT DGEX 24H, only one in 20 of the original?

3)
Some say that BTC took 5 years of development, we don't have to worry, slow things down. I have to tell you, this is very wrong point of view.  BTC is the first virtual currency, virtual currency to open remote, no BTC, not all virtual currency. So,BTC in 5 years. Market impossible, NXT 3、5 years, NXT no developmented within one year, NXT does not come within a year, second generation of NXT will be similar virtual currencies, even third-generation and fourth-generation currency trampled to death!

Thanks!

I agree with the above points.

DGEX has been under attack since Jan 3rd....who is behind the attacks?

The good news is the trading situation is slowly improving with the addition of the new Exchanges.

Many of the best features of NXT were copied from eMunie (i'm ducking now), but that is true. Ask yourself this, why did BCNext release NXT on November 24 2013 and not January 3 2014 like he said he would? He wanted to add things like the alias and make it look like it was his idea. eMunie has been using a naming system during beta testing for months and months (ENS). That's why the eMunie source code won't be released until after the launch. To prevent people taking eMunie ideas and rushing them into a new coin.

Nxt's strength is in Transparent Forging which is UNIQUE.....other features...Asset exhange, alias, arbitrary messaging is icing on the cake.

BCNext is being very wise for keeping TF under wraps.

we will get so much media attention and mass adoption after we publish these texts about Nxt:

Bitcoin's carbon footprint is out of control.
http://www.bitcarbon.org/introduction.html

"Nxt's carbon footprint will never be bigger than one village"

You mean small village or large household.

However, apart from hard work, sometimes it's nice to have some fun.

Well said.  Wink

Gets hard to keep track of that here on bitcoin.. Wouldn't it be better if these threads were hosted on http://forums.nxtcrypto.org - they could even create a separate category for it. Makes it much easier to follow up on.

a thread was started within the biggest german pokercommunity (overall 6.5m members)

http://de.pokerstrategy.com/forum/thread.php?threadid=1569974

I try to keep it updated as well

This is a great marketing opportunity....can someone please give nakaone some support in this initiative.

We could spend some unclaimed coins for that. Create a poll if u think it's a good idea.

I should have mentioned someone who speaks German...
I speak German. It's only a poker forum, which has nothing to do with cryptocurrency. There is a thread about Bitcoin. But well, it isn't worth giving a bounty for that. Or else everyone could post NXT to a big forum and get NXT for that.

someone could organize a tournament where the pot is 100,000 Nxt or something...would give good publicity.

So if I understand correctly some kind of format like: "Asset exchange, powered by Nxt", where asset exchange could get it's own marketable trademark, too?

yes, something like that. We don't want to be marketing a swiss army knife. People will assume that each component is some limited version. We want to market a powerful "Asset Exchange", "Arbitrary Messages", etc. Each should be strong enough to standalone and even have its own non-generic identity.

We don't want it to be like seeing generic versions of many different types of products, but rather premium versions each in its own category. NXT is always there under the hood, powering things. Anybody that digs below the surface will find that NXT is powering a whole lot of things.

For example, a company like Johnson and Johnson has many recognizable brands, but they market each brand to its specific market. The fact that they are all Johnson and Johnson brands is not really a factor. Any investor that does research into JnJ will find out that it has all these brands and more: tylenol, visine, splenda, nicorrete, sudafed, listerene, band-aid, ben-gay, neosporin, etc.

Each of these brands could be an entire company all by itself.

Which is more impressive, a company with a dozen generic products or powerful brands in a dozen categories?

At some point, we probably should come up with a non-generic name for each of the new features. This can all be wrapped into a separate NXTIPO. Decentralized. Develop each brand independently. NXT becomes the sum of all the brands, but not just an additive sum, because NXT will be the ONLY crypto that has all these features and the smart investors will certainly figure this out

James

I like this idea. It allows for people to strike out on their own or in a group and pool all their energy to make one project really worthwhile.
Not everyone will be interested in all aspects anyway.

It also means you don't have to explain the whole project to every investor, but can focus on pitching the thing you are actually working on.

That's the exact thinking behind the Nxt Mobile Applications Company (Nxt Mobile App. Co.) which the community is now building.  The company is organized around the arbitrary message feature and will subsidize messaging fees to further drive feature adoption.

The subsidizing of messaging fees is an indirect distribution of Nxt, for example if a stakeholder wishes to donate to a responsible entity he simply deposits a million Nxt into the Nxt messaging fees pool account managed by the Nxt Mobile App. Co.  When a customer downloads the Nxt messaging app from the Google play or App store he will receive 30 Nxt which allows him to immediately begin sending messages from the app.

The Nxt messaging app is powered by the Nxt arbitrary messaging feature. To keep the company in the hands of the community it's shares/tokens will be freely traded on the Nxt Asset Exchange.

There doesn;t seem to be a lot of information available on Arbitrary message feature.

Offering services you can pay with a commodity that rises in price isn't really thought through to the end.
I hope the price rises nevertheless Smiley

It seems quite similar to gold....you can use gold to pay for services and its value also rise & falls.

The evolution is that you can move Nxt to the other side of the world for nothing...instantly.

Edit: Using a new tool called a smartphone....which will eventually be in the hands of 90% of the people on the planet.

I wonder what will happen when the next credit crisis hits....I wonder where people will put their wealth....Bitcoin, Nxt and other Alt coins will be stores of value like gold....but with the ability to move, buy & sell this asset at lightspeed....24 hours a day 7 days week.

I don't see how someone buying a store item is in any way a problem for nxt or even BTC right now. Can someone please enlighten me?

the harder part is:

We have to remember 75% of the world don;t even use Visa....and Visa is FAR FAR ahead of Bitcoin.
But one thing is sure.....there are more people with Cell phones than visa cards on the planet....and that number will EXPLODE in the coming years.

Africa is actually leading the way here on cellphone micropayments and there is much to learn on current efforts - or perhaps strategic partnering.  Maybe just like the out of Africa migration theory, the path to conquering the world starts in Africa before trekking out to the rest of the planet...

http://www.msdf.org/blog/2013/01/microfinance-in-india-mobile-micropayments/

my thinking is China & India....both have more people than the WHOLE OF AFRICA.

EDIT: Yet they both have high smartphone usage but low bank account penetration.....BOTH COUNTRIES STILL LARGELY DEAL IN CASH.

ACTUALLY Africa is also showing strong INNOVATION IN MICROPAYMENTS.....SO I AGREE STONGLY WITH RICKYJAMES ON THIS POINT.

It seems where bank account penetration is low & cellphone usages is high....NXT has A GOOD CHANCE.....I REPEAT MOST PEOPLE in INDIA, CHINA & AFRICA connect to the internet thru their phones.

THATS WHY LOCKING THEM INTO THE NXT ECOSYSTEM THRU SOME FREE SERVICE LIKE MESSAGING WILL ALLOW US TO SLOWLY OPEN THEIR MINDS TO THE BENEFIT OF USING NXT FOR OTHER THINGS.....payment, trading, remittances etc.
