"Managers that do know of it are reluctant to incorporate in portfolios either because their investors don't understand or trust it or, the old standby, it's too volatile."

Also . . . certainly (we canvassed 25 Australian financial institutions in our survey on this) the regulatory environment is hostile, which hostility extends to their being no regulation!

Very true Mark. People who live their lives in a regulatory bubble are not going to play with sharp objects... We do need clear guidance from lawmakers not patchwork regulation where straddling the state line makes you legal and illegal at the same time.

Don't expect clear guidance.

IndiaMikeZulu spent literally months on the phone in 2013, talking to accountants’ organisations, accountants, AML authorities, banks, credit unions, regulatory bodies, license issuers, the Australian Tax Office, and fellow crypto geeks. It was like attacking the ocean with a bread-and-butter knife.

Here are two insights:

One: ‘national chapters’: although cryptos are a global phenomenon, the regulations generally go nation by nation. So, krypto hoomernz in one nation (even from different cryptos!) can co-operate to gather data on the regulatory situation in that nation (including, I suggest, the postage of bullion).

Two: choose one business in a nation, and mentor it. That is, instead of dumpin’ the whole crypto thing in the lap of the business’s unsuspecting accountant, guide the business/accountant through the initial processes, ensuring them that assistance – perhaps even financial – will be forthcoming.

This business becomes the showcase. Mutual benefit all around.

Mark (IndiaMikeZulu), Australia

[Just to show you how out of our minds we are, with the resources of one overworked family-guy and one half-blind disability pensioner, we tackled an entire town in early 2014, in an effort to learn how crypto adoption might happen at all levels. Expensive and punishing! but it was one of only two projects like it in the world at the time.]

Thank you for sharing your insights with us, Mark. I like the way you described your challenges, (battles) “It was like attacking the ocean with a bread-and-butter knife”. I believe, I do know what you meant, but I respect you that much more for actually gone down that route. We can appreciate how hard you all have worked to get to this point. Very impressive.

DNotes has spent a great deal of time studying many battles our industry has been fighting at a very high cost, in terms of money, time and human emotion. That explains in part why we are positioned so differently. Like your group we pick our battle and stay focused in winning one battle at a time. We maintain a low profile and launched our project in small scale, always taking our time to fine tune them. They are all designed to be highly scalable, strategically linked and positioned to exploit the network effect at the appropriate time.

In your case it makes sense to focus in working with “one business in a nation”. Most nations in general require a single application for a single license. The United States require a license for every state except two. It is demanding to say the least.

Thanks for participating in our forum and working closely with TeeGee. Let us know if we can be helpful in some ways. There are many challenges ahead. We have specifically positioned CryptoMoms to be a currency neutral site so that it could be mutually beneficial to everyone in our industry.

CRISP WORD CONTEST

Feel free to have some fun with the long list of CRISP words that will be a part of DNotes Dictionary in the future.  Does anyone have an award winning definition for "Laddered CRISP", "CRISP optimization", "CRISP sense", and so on...

Here's my non-competitive, just for fun entry:

CRISP Fund Baby

Definition - Modern day replacement of the "trust fund baby".  A child born to, or receiving a gift from, someone with a large amount of DNotes.  The parent or gift giver set up a CRISP for the child when they were born or very young and the child is now able to live off the appreciated value of the CRISP.  While the term "trust fund baby" carries negative connotations of never having to work, the grown up "CRISP fund baby" tends to be hard working and appreciative of what their parents did for them.

 Grin Grin

Very creative Chase. I don't know how you come up with these ideas, but they are great!

Impressed. Perhaps Marc, our author of CRISP Handbook, may want to consider adding a new section to the Handbook.

Follow the money” is a sound advice in investing as well as other investigative work. I mentioned in earlier posts that $500 million VC money was invested in the cryptocurrency space in 2014, followed by $100 million in the first two months this year. I also predicted that we will see $1 billion Venture Capital funding for the year 2015. So far I am on track, another  $116 million has just been invested in a cryptocurrency related company and the rest of the world has little knowledge as to what they are working on.

One would think that this is becoming so obvious that people will at least put away their pocket change and turn it into DNotes. I would hope so, but frankly, I do not think so, at least not yet. CRISPs are designed with that in mind, save you pocket change and convert it into DNotes. Think of it as universal life insurance payment using your pocket change. Start off with a meaning amount you can afford and keep adding to it on a regular basis.

There are indeed many very promising signs that the big money will one day start wishing that there is a Bitcoin alternative that is stable and trustworthy for them to invest some serious money. To us DNotes is the obvious choice but to others it is not so obvious. We all should start trying a little harder to help our friends and family know about CRISPs and the new technology revolution that holds enormous power to cause a quantum shift with world changing implications.

"the immensely promising Bitcoin with the potential to be the greatest technology revolution of our generation can be quite deceptive; causing many to look back a few years from now wondering how they could have missed the early promising signs."

DNotes press release today says it all. Email a copy of it to all your friends and family.

Well said, Dyna. I wanted to address a specific point you made:

>>>
There are indeed many very promising signs that the big money will one day start wishing that there is a Bitcoin alternative that is stable and trustworthy for them to invest some serious money. To us DNotes is the obvious choice but to others it is not so obvious. We all should start trying a little harder to help our friends and family know about CRISPs and the new technology revolution that holds enormous power to cause a quantum shift with world changing implications.
<<<

Here the obvious scenario is that of wanting to own DNotes. The other scenario is value-added technology and service providers building businesses around DNotes e.g. investment managers selling DNotes based portfolios, state of the art payment technologies supporting DNotes, merchants accepting DNotes, developers providing fancy solutions around CRISP/DNotesVault and other properties, open-source developers putting their weight behind DNotes and speeding up DNotes technology development, brokers fixing DNotes/BTC hedges. I am having difficulty being very specific but DNotes will be a viable platform for all these fancy things VCs are funding bitcoin related ventures for.

It is but natural for smart money to look at the next most promising currency after bitcoin and put their weight behind it to upset bitcoin hegemony. So money and resources will come flowing in from all directions as long as DNotes continues to progress and reaches a critical mass. Gaining user adoption is a bigger problem than building fancy new technical features, so if DNotes succeeds in having a large diversified user base and a low volatility path, the whole world will want to transact with it (in all the above manners).

Here Bitcoin has a distinct disadvantage. There are no specific promoters behind bitcoin. It is a large number of software developers set up in a heirarchy. There is no distinct business leadership that a potential strategic partner could do business with. Thus ease of doing business with (for potential partners) with DNotes is much easier.

Excellent scenario.  That is exactly correct. As a whole, this will be a huge industry with massive job growth and wealth creation. It will become more obvious over time. DNotes will be well positioned by then. Just remember, when it becomes more of a sure thing, investors will pay a premium for it. Some will look back and wonder, how the opportunity to pick up DNotes for less than two pennies each, were missed by so many?

You are also absolutely correct that: “The other scenario is value-added technology and service providers building businesses around DNotes e.g. investment managers selling DNotes based portfolios, state of the art payment technologies supporting DNotes, merchants accepting DNotes, developers providing fancy solutions around CRISP/DNotesVault and other properties, open-source developers putting their weight behind DNotes and speeding up DNotes technology development, brokers fixing DNotes/BTC hedges.”

Our focus is to build the part of the ecosystem or infrastructure most valuable in taking DNotes to the next level. Once DNotes reaches a certain level of success, many will want to be a part of DNotes. That is how the business world evolves.

What DNotes has done is not easy to replicate. Building a stable trusted currency is a very difficult thing. That itself is invaluable. We are also agile, nimble and decisive, yet very caring and respectful. And I mean our whole community. This is a rare package and we all are very proud of it.

Here is one more headache for Banks and Credit Card companies:

Sequencing fraud on 9 CIBC Visa cards like 'Groundhog Day' for Ottawa man

By Rosa Marchitelli, CBC News Posted: Mar 11, 2015 5:00 AM ET

What is sequencing fraud?

Sequencing fraud allows scammers to figure out card credit numbers even before the bank can issue a new card.

The Canadian Bankers Association tells Go Public it doesn't have specific numbers on sequencing fraud, but it does track credit card fraud overall.

The most recent numbers show scammers made a total of $465,135,009 worth of fraudulent charges on Canadian credit cards in 2013, and fraud seems to be increasing year over year

Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies are part of a technology "megatrend" that could change the fundamental mechanics of transactions, according to a new report from Goldman Sachs' equity research analysts.
Bitcoin, along with improved payment security, 'big data' analytics and faster payment networks are the components of a technology trend that will disrupt the payments ecosystem, the report says.
The disruption of the $1.2tn global payments industry will be also be driven by converging trends in regulation, global demographics and the rise of markets outside the United States.

A new press release has been approved for expanded distribution beginning Thursday March 12, 2015. This is our biggest attempt to reach out to the mainstream media.

Here is a Sneak Peek:

As Credit Card Fraud Reaches New Highs Bitcoin Alternative DNotes Brings  Banking Solutions, Stability, And Value

As credit card fraud cases reach new highs, the legacy banking system may soon be challenged by Bitcoin Alternative DNotes with an impressive track record of stability and good store of value; two of the most commonly cited reasons that Bitcoin is not a viable threat.

There is an inherent tendency for promising emerging technologies to be deceptive at the formative stage, especially when perceived to be highly disruptive. According to DNotes Co-Founder Alan Yong, a well regarded pioneer and visionary during the early days of mobile computers, this has clearly been the case with Bitcoin, despite often being described as the greatest technology innovation since the Internet……………………

…………… Being the most direct targets of disruption, senior bank and credit card companies’ executives often discount Bitcoin as a threat because of its explosive volatility and poor track record as a store of value…………

…….. In such an environment, the immensely promising Bitcoin with the potential to be the greatest technology revolution of our generation can be quite deceptive; causing many to look back a few years from now wondering how they could have missed the early promising signs. ………..

DNotes can best be characterized, as a second generation Bitcoin alternative digital currency. Created over one year ago, it exploited the advantages of knowing the weaknesses and pitfalls that penalized Bitcoin as the pioneer………..

…………. Central to DNotes long term strategic plan is the creation of highly scalable building blocks, as the foundation of its own ecosystem.

………. The core mission of CRISP is to make the savings opportunity available to everyone; from the unborn to the most senior; from the unbanked to the super rich…………

…………. winning strategies are most effective when executed flawlessly in the right sequence and at the most opportune time.  ………………..

Excellent post, Keemo. DNotes is more than a digital currency. It is a currency with a purpose for the masses worldwide. It is a business and not a hobby or an experiment.

Thanks Dyna. While this talks about how to move up to the productivity frontier (akin to efficient frontier per Markowitz in investments) through reinforcement and fit across business activities, it is still in the domain of operational effectiveness ONCE the activities have been chosen. Now, what activities to choose today and what activities will be needed in future and to position oneself that those activities could be undertaken optimally when future does arrive are all in the domain of strategy. The latter is much harder and cannot be copied or stolen overnight by stealing best practices or hiring consultants.

This is where I see DNotes shining as well, as evidenced by its strategic choices and building blocks.

Thanks, Keemo. That is very true. Instinctively, most people are reactive. They do not think, strategize and plan way ahead, and get caught short sometimes for being unprepared. DNotes is very proactive and constantly examine the "big picture" as well and "exploded view" in great details when necessary. We hope that this forum is not just a medium for our community to communicate with one another but also a learning center. Likewise we have been positioning CryptoMoms in the same manner. They both have an interest to help promote our industry in the most positive light. That is how we all can best contribute.

Breaking News:

The news as reported by Cointelegraph that two different digital currency related companies in two different countries have “received approval from financial regulatory bodies, and went public” is extremely significant. This is another confirmation that DNotes is on the right track and its long term vision is viable. It is best to have large scale global projects funded publicly with the approval of regulatory bodies, as much as it is costly, frustrating and very time consuming. Crowdfunding is a good approach for early stage funding but must be in full compliance of regulatory requirements, even though it a less demanding process by law. I find this latest news very encouraging:

This week, two Bitcoin ventures, namely Barry Silbert's Bitcoin Investment Trust, and Canadian bitcoin exchange QuadrigaCX, received approval from financial regulatory bodies, and went public. The positive news might have helped support the price's raise and brought a wave of opportunism among investors.

im thinking arround why not look for a mobile phone partner to give a pack to consumers and comerciants and traders? start develop soft with them, like is lot of trademarks fighting for a little piece of market, can be problable some of then are high interested, later can sell them with everything installed ready to use. like a normal wallet LOL , need a quality and cheap smartphone and more models too but for start i think is better cheap and quality

would be killer stuff for Dnotes, buy your retirement ect.. plan, almost you catch a dedicated smartphone ready to ride, and to manage your Dnotes. Can be the diference for mobile company and for Dnotes

like deposit of 10.000 Dnotes and wallet 100$ - having this product can initiate anti-pc users, and is internet everywhere

Quietly reading. [ http://indiamikezulu.com.au/491/coretanium -- 'Core-Dnotes'?]

Mark (IndiaMikeZulu), Australia

Hi Mark. Thank you for posting the link. By itself, it has some merits and potential pitfalls. I am certain that this must be part of a larger package consisting of other components not discussed or exposed here for good reasons. Maintaining a highly liquid reserve invested in a well diversified portfolio, while in sufficient, is a viable defensive tool, when deployed alongside with other tools.

Currency stability in the Bitcoin world has been the toughest challenge that has attracted and engaged some of the brightest and smartest minds with many attempted solutions. A great deal of time and money has been spent in this area. Many have done poorly while others have been helpful but costly. A few are too early to tell.

I do agree that “price stability is more important than a high market-cap”. Without stability, high market-cap is not a dependable value to long term investors. High volatilities in the case of Bitcoin foster short term investment, dumping and profit taking mentality.

DNotes has taken a very different approach. We believe that stability must start and be built from day one. It encompasses every strategic plan we put in place, constantly fine tuned and improved. It has done well the first year.

As DNotes get discovered by more investors and professional traders, there will be more volume and price spikes, resulting in new challenges like what we have just experienced last week. A huge price increase over a short period of time is often followed by a major price correction.

Long term investors should follow a disciplined investing schedule with some flexibility to make adjustment as needed. DNotes is a growth investment for the long term. Based on the growth potential of the projects we have in place, we fully expect that DNotes’ uptrend will continue, creating higher highs and higher lows. Trading Bots will remain as a source of frustration resulting in more pronounced spikes. We can expect our trendline to be more spiky, but a part of an up trend with reliable appreciation over the long term.
