221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN][ARG] Argentum | Fast. Optimized. Unique Innovation. | 0% Orphans on: July 09, 2013, 10:43:33 PM
You guys do realize that any one with a decent sized GPU farm could 51% ARG at this point. I myself have 1.7x the current network hashrate with what I have laying around (currently 21MH according to http://arg.epools.org/). Not that I ever would want to do that.
222  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XPM] [ANN] Primecoin Release - First Scientific Computing Cryptocurrency on: July 09, 2013, 12:12:35 AM
Hm...with one VM I have on a Xeon server:

Code:
local@cpuminer01site10:/$ /opt/coins/primecoin/primecoind getmininginfo
{
    "blocks" : 2889,
    "currentblocksize" : 1000,
    "currentblocktx" : 0,
    "errors" : "",
    "generate" : true,
    "genproclimit" : -1,
    "primespersec" : 105,
    "pooledtx" : 0,
    "testnet" : false
}

And from an almost identical one (right next to it on the rack... about 1.5x more powerful, actually):

Code:
local@cpuminer02site10:~$ /opt/coins/primecoin/primecoind getmininginfo
{
    "blocks" : 2892,
    "currentblocksize" : 1000,
    "currentblocktx" : 0,
    "errors" : "",
    "generate" : true,
    "genproclimit" : -1,
    "primespersec" : 2,
    "pooledtx" : 0,
    "testnet" : false
}

Notice, PPS on the first is 105 and on the second is 2.... any ideas what could cause this? Same binary....both VMs don't have crazy low CPU contraints/throttling (set up the same way), etc....the process is maxing out the CPU on both...

~ End of July

That will be the raw client with the supply - demand model and all that comes with it inc secure messaging.

Other services like the exchange, faucets, and usual run of the mill stuff will be soon after....then....the real work begins getting it mass adopted in places that no other crypto is.

Do you have any figures of overall money supply (# coins overall, target new coins per day, % of coins that are created in the first week as compared to over the first year, etc)?

Impossible to estimate as the supply is created as a portion of the demand, no demand, no new supply etc.

If there is massive demand there will be large generated supply, and all holders of a balance will receive interest on their holding to balance the supply inflation out, if there is low demand, then small supply generated and balance holders receive a less interest %

Estimations of pure dynamic systems that rely on human behavior is....difficult Smiley

Got it, thanks. I recall you had a post on supply/demand dynamics on the eMunie forums...I'll spend some time going through that.

226  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: YAC price go up on: July 04, 2013, 08:48:52 PM
I sold a decent amount today to diversify into another coin or two. The market ate it right up throughout the day, without it sending the price down. I was pleasantly surprised. Mining YAC now because of it... more of a liquid market than I thought before for the coin.

(Mining YAC beats the piss out of mining DGC or WDC. I am buying DGC now, but I only get half of the advertised coins/day for the life of me mining it...tried pushpool, p2pool, solomining....it's not nearly that bad with any other coin (including YAC).)

Out of curiosity, which pool are you mining on? Or are you solo mining? I'm currently on yac.ltcoin.net, but I want to switch over to a better pool. It seems like there aren't many options for yacoin pushpools.

I had the same issues with pools, and am currently solomining on my GPU farm. If you have enough hashrate it works out pretty well with YAC. Smiley

Current whitepaper link as posted on the 1st post of this topic is broken (http://www.platinumdigitalreserve.com/storage/mc2%20draft%20v0.031.pdf)

should probably be http://www.netcoin.io/latest.pdf instead

I think that tacotime should announce or reveal his plan/roadmap to implement this currency. This discussion takes too long without any progress recently.

@solracx Is ZenithCoin a copy-and-paste coin? I see nothing new in it. So it looks like yet-another-crapcoin to me
+1  I completely understand them trying to get it right, different, innovative, taking time to get outside ideas to implement... But it's been almost 3 months already... It's time to get this going, and for a release, updates on a release at least.

+1 to that. I am strongly considering chipping in a large amount to the future kickstarter fund, but that has to raise enough $$ for tacotime to work on this thing full-time (and get some talent to help organize the launch), or else nothing will get done. Smiley

This coin would only be acceptable if the client included a keylogger trojan that sent all your keystrokes to the NSA.
Plus there needs to be a drone with missiles behind Obamas head on the logo.

231  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Yet another GPU miner release! [YAC] on: July 01, 2013, 04:52:27 PM
Can anyone provide a list of peers that accept inbound connections?

Here's a list of peers I grabbed from my yacoind:

I've also been having a number of issues with pools, so I'm solo-mining at the moment. Let's hope feeleep gets stratum working.

Thank you!! I'm trying out your modified cgminer now... seems to work better than the one I was using at first glance. We'll see if it helps out with the pool slowdown issues I've been having. Will also test out solo mining as well with it.
232  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][YAC] Yacminer GPU miner for Yacoin on: July 01, 2013, 04:51:35 PM
Thank you, trying it out now.

Can anyone provide a list of peers that accept inbound connections? I'm having a hell of a time finding any. Also, my client doesn't seem to be able to connect to the IRC server when it starts up. (I have the p2p port allowed through on my firewall).
234  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] Yet another GPU miner release! [YAC] on: July 01, 2013, 01:50:38 PM
Hey guys,

I'm having an issue where my miner's performance seems to sputter out on the pools after awhile quite often (the clock rates are fine, and performance is stable on other coins...but with YAC cgminer's "Active" percentage can go anywhere from 0-80% after awhile). Anyone else seen this?

Also, I want to try out solomining, but two issues seem to prevent this:
1. yacoind cannot make a connection to the IRC server to get peers
2. All of the peers I have/find do not accept inbound connections

Can anyone provide a list of peers that accept inbound connections?
235  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] YAC POOL [Pool.yacointalk.Com][LESS STALES!] on: July 01, 2013, 01:41:32 AM
threw some miners on it Smiley...we'll see how it does overnight... at least it isn't making my cgminer see it as a dead pool (had that issue with a different pushpool)

Hey, FYI...your vhost config for "www.give-me-ltc.com" is messed up I get a default "It works!" page when visiting that host...but if I visit http://give-me-ltc.com it works fine.....

www.give-me-ltc.com resolves to: 108.162.204.157

237  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN][DGC][FBD] Free Bank of Digitalcoin ~ Risk Averse DGC Investments on: June 20, 2013, 02:56:50 PM
Price is very volatile. Imagine the situation: people bought in at high price. You need to give them DGC, so you have to use money to buy them. It's either buyer's money or your own. Then price falls, and it's only a half of what it was. Naturally, many people are going to want to use this situation. They are cashing out, and then buying twice more. Your bank are at huge loss.  Who is going to cover the shortage? You?

Exactly...not to sound like a party pooper, but I have the same concern. "No risk for anyone involved" as another poster put it (to paraphrase) is the same as "too good to be true". What exactly are the downsides here?

Beyond that, thank you for your continued innovation on DGC. Happily mining and saving it.

239  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN][ARG] Argentum | Fast. Optimized. Unique Innovation. | 0% Orphans on: June 19, 2013, 12:43:29 AM
Can we PLEASE leave this off of coinchoose/coinwarz for as long as possible? Right now the market seems to be performing initial price discovery with the coin.... Let it grow without the auto-miner pump and dump and the market price become more established with more of a trading history behind it. I myself will be holding the ARG I am mining now.
