Anyway to report bugs?

My BTB wallet freeze right after I launched it... tried Re-launched it, reboot pc many times, deleting all the cache files it still remain the same.

The windows wallet works fine for me. I just installed and launched it on a different computer no problem. Try using another computer maybe?

Agreed, let's get a genuine exchange up. Spamming non-legit ones only will hurt bitbar's public perception.
443  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BTC / BTB Exchange Google Docs #2 on: May 04, 2013, 02:38:50 PM
Boelens, would it be possible to list trade history on the spreadsheet?

Also, can you put instructions on how to submit a bid on there, e.g. pm boelens, xxxx or xxxxx

I think both of those would help out a lot.

I can do the instruction, will do soon, not sure about trade history, what do other people think?

I think it would be helpful because the current spreadsheet looks a bit anemic....would help to show people that these things are indeed traded. It's the same approach CNC and FTC took when they got started and had google docs exchanges.

BitBar block explorer is coming soon. I have spoken with Dreamwatcher privately and he has confirmed Smiley

Excellent news!

This was the first official "Junk Coin", followed by the second official aptly named "Junk Coin".

Created by two abandoned projects, abandon this one now.

I think it has a lot more to offer, from a technical, and possibly marketing direction over a coin like ChinaCoin and FeatherCoin (I own both and I'm saying that).

I do like the bar concept, and it takes a different approach over just taking something like litecoin and pumping up the block reward by 4x. Plus it has PoS, dynamically adjusting difficulty and wasn't premined like NovaCoin was supposedly.

Definitely a novel 'coin' in my book.

Right, it has nothing to do with you mining 93 BTB in like 30 minutes due to extreme low starting difficulty.

And I'm sure I could cash out for just as many bitcoins right now and be done with it, but I think this coin has some real merit behind it. I just stated what I had (which was stupid, in retrospect).

I think the low diff has more to do with them not releasing a pool for it at the start (people having to figure out solomining...I had to figure out how to set up a pushpool...took me an hour or two). That's the weak point of the release IMO... was kind of just like "here's a client, figure it out" ....whereas the feathercoin release for instance had a few pools up at the time of release.
447  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Ideas for speeding bitbar (BTB) adoption on: May 04, 2013, 01:38:20 PM
I think BitBar is more novel than most of the other altcoins (and I'm not just saying that because I own some). Why?
* It has Proof of Stake, as well as proof of work
* It has a dynamically adjusting difficulty and reward calculation
* Uses scrypt - ASIC resistant
* It was not premined
* The 'bar' concept is analogous to gold bars and I think has a surprising amount of psychological pull on people
* The ultra rare status - a different approach to most all the altcoins...and rarer than "rare" coins like mincoin

I'd like to brainstorm around what we can do to speed BitBar adoption, along with people stepping up to the plate and volunteering to take on roles if they wish. We're already at the 1BTB to 1BTC level with trading, but bitbar circulation is still low. The main key to adoption will be spreading interest and getting fractions of bitbars in as many hands as possible.

The main, overarching goals in my mind are:
* Get network hashrate up to at least 250MH-400MH or so to show community health. Total hashrate may be around over this already, but it's hard to tell. Is there any stat anywhere that shows total network hashrate?
* Get bitbars into more people's hands (e.g. more giveaway threads, and contests)
* Get on an exchange like bter and/or vircurex

Here are some possibilities:
* Contests: Any ideas? I can throw a few bitbar at this as a sponsor if the idea is good.
* Evangelization efforts: btc-e trollbox, additional forum posts. There are some folks here that are pretty good at that. Maybe get fontas on retainer. Smiley
* Google docs exchange tweaks: Enhance the google docs exchange in use now to show trades history...this is important so that folks can see the health of the trading network (I have a decent template we could use for this at https://docs.google.com/a/u20.org/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Aj7qeplQ-tDOdGZFcFVrZ0p2aFZCejlyV0NnM1A0X2c#gid=15)
* bitbar block explorer: do we have one? if not, we need one
* bitbar forum: Probably not too wise now, so we can keep most of the bitbar chatter in bitcointalk and not fork it off. At some point though in the future, it may be good. I believe that's where http://www.bitbar.info/ is headed to
* Bitbar stats page is a great start: http://www.bitbar.info/stats/index.php
* An additional giveaway thread may be useful
* ADDITIONAL POOL! Additional bitbar pushpools, once the one at http://btb.binarycoins.eu/ has been proven ...we need at least 2 so if one goes down, things dont just stop for folks that are not or cannot solomine.
   * sido adds total network hashrate to his pool at http://btb.binarycoins.eu/ -- will help get a better idea of the total network health

Any feedback on any of this? Any one want to take point on any of these items? Any thing I missed?

Bin solo mining this now with 1600khash for about 15 hours blocks found but not a single share ??

Pooled mining would probably be better for you. Did you try joining the pool over at http://btb.binarycoins.eu/ ?
450  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [TESTING] BitBar PushPool btb.binarycoins.eu [solved] on: May 04, 2013, 12:34:49 PM
It's 520 confirmations for bitbar.

Ah yes. That can take awhile. It would be great to see the # of confirmations remaining for each block on http://btb.binarycoins.eu/blocksAuth ...as well as sido maybe putting up a note on the front page of the site stating that it could take up to a day (or whatever it ends up being) for blocks to be confirmed.

My main thing is that if we want bitbar to be adopted, we need to give users as good as feedback as possible about how many bitbars they've mined and when they can expect to get it in their wallet. This is why solomining with a personal pushpool is better from that perspective at the present moment (I can see the income come in and track it through the confirmation process). I think once we get some more feedback of this nature in the pool interface, it will be much better.

It's all about people putting in work and seeing the feedback from that work as quickly as possible. *That* is what will best drive adoption, especially when confirms can take awhile. I'd love to see a figure somewhere that basically says what the pool is estimated to owe me from unconfirmed blocks...make it prominent (right in the dashboard... there is an "Unpaid Shares" and "Estimated Per Payout", but I wonder what can be done to take it to a single number that shows how many bitbars any given user is owed...e.g. "Unconfirmed Account Balance").
451  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [TESTING] BitBar PushPool btb.binarycoins.eu [solved] on: May 04, 2013, 11:11:23 AM
The bitbar pool does not seem to be making payouts. Looks like it is finding blocks, and my user (rbdrbd) has been participating all night (in #1 place), but no payouts have been made (no transaction history) and my account balance is listed as “0 BTB”. I took my automatic payout threshold down to .1 BTB a few minutes ago, maybe that will help. Maybe the “Account Balance” listing is cast to an integer and showing 0 because the amount due is not a whole number?

I assume this is a modified mmcfe you guys are running? Assume you are using the Novacoin fork of pushpoold? I was able to get everything but mmcfe working (I took a bitcoin crash course and hacked together a version off of what's on github, but the stats are all off...this version you have is MUCH closer...we should be golden after payouts are working, and seeing the network hash power would be sweet too. I can add that.)

Do you guys have your mmfce fork on github anywhere? I’m a developer and would be happy to help out and make a few push requests. I could also throw a bunch of hardware at it for running a pool server if need be (I have a bunch of high end VM servers and a 100M link).
452  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Need p2pool for BitBar. Any p2pool gods?? on: May 04, 2013, 04:01:00 AM
There is a protocol switch at block #9869 in the BitBar code.  Using p2pool before we have reached that block is not possible.

Good to know we weren't insane or stupid with trying to set up p2pool. Smiley

Can you provide a github link to that part in the code? Seem like an intentional thing by the authors?
453  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Need p2pool for BitBar. Any p2pool gods?? on: May 04, 2013, 03:59:37 AM

i'm running it in vmware on ubuntu server, i need sleep for a while, it's 5:30 AM right now Smiley

i am getting this error
[warn] Error from accept() call: Too many open files
so i am trying to find out what to do with it..

there is also different problem.. i need clean tables of shares, because i was changed difficulty (thought it will solve problem with too many open files Smiley but not ) if i'll not then counting of rewards will be messed

In mmfce files you got a folder called script.
should be a file called optmize linux or something.
Read that file and hopefully you get wiser

that's the kick which i was needed.. thanks a lot Smiley

but problem is still here Sad

Those are kernel tweaks via sysctl.conf, mostly around networking. You could also try http://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/linux-unix-nginx-too-many-open-files/ (see the section on "Increase Open FD Limit at Linux OS Level")

http://linux-quirks.blogspot.com/2011/02/too-many-open-files.html may also be helpful.
454  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ★★ ▀▄▀▄▀ BITBAR Difficulty ▀▄▀▄▀ ★★ on: May 04, 2013, 03:55:26 AM
even if each bitbar was worth 100 bitcoins, the market cap would still be lower
3000 bars * 100 btc per bar= 3000000300000 btc market cap ,1/3 1/30 of bitcoin cap

And THAT is what you call a rare and precious thing. Still sad my low hash rate didnt get me enough, i cant even get any from mining now. ):

Try joining the pool up at http://btb.binarycoins.eu/statsAuth if you haven't already.

Should be able to get something through pooled mining, as the blocks are split out once found.
455  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BitBar New POW-POS scrypt CryptoCoin on: May 04, 2013, 03:51:05 AM
For those not want to open up client to check on network stats, I put together a network stats page here: http://www.bitbar.info/stats/index.php

I will add more stats and forum next week. Site is not done.

+1, thanks!

PM sent. We'll see what he says.
457  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN]: BitBar Exchange (Google Docs): NEED ADMINISTRATOR on: May 04, 2013, 03:28:11 AM
Oh wow, totally didn't see that! Sure, I'd be willing to give him full control of the spreadsheet, or he could just copy it. I'll PM him and close this topic.
458  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN] BitBar exchange. trade in all your coins for gold BARS on: May 04, 2013, 03:23:30 AM
Please see https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=194584 for a Google Docs BTB exchange.
459  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [ANN]: BitBar Exchange (Google Docs): NEED ADMINISTRATOR on: May 04, 2013, 03:16:50 AM
EDIT: Ignore this thread, exchange already exists over at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=194584.msg2020433#msg2020433

-------------
I've created a BitBar exchange over at Google Docs:

https://docs.google.com/a/u20.org/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Aj7qeplQ-tDOdGZFcFVrZ0p2aFZCejlyV0NnM1A0X2c#gid=15

The spreadsheet is ready to go, but is empty for now. I need someone to administer the spreadsheet (I have a growing business and am real low on time unfortunately). Any takers?

We also need 1 or 2 users with higher posts that have been around for awhile to serve as potential escrow users. PM me if interested and I'll get you added to the spreadsheet.

i think they having same problem there... about coinbase

Yeah I see... no blocks mined yet...should have at least a few.
