221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN][MAX] MaxCoin on: February 04, 2014, 11:01:42 PM
Is there a way to mine this with gpu now or only cpu?

Q: So is it CPU only? Will I be able to use my Butterfly Labs ASIC when it arrives (... any day now...)?
A: Using Keccak as a hashing function renders current Bitcoin ASICs and the upcoming Scrypt ASICs useless on the coin. GPU parallelization of Keccak is possible but currently does not exist for mining with our implementation of SHA-3.

Ye I did read that, but with the talk earlier of a gpu miner and the pool being scrypt for cgminer I thought maybe they has decided to go gpu.

Just wanted to make sure I hadn't missed something and I was ready for the release tomorrow same as everyone else.

Is this coin cpu or is it gpu now?
223  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][VTC] Vertcoin - Adaptive N-factor in Scrypt - No more ASICs on: February 04, 2014, 07:54:26 PM
Hey guys, just installed the wallet. I see it's not syncing - message is no block source available.

How can I fix this?

Thanks!

Ye I'm having same problem.

I've added all the nodes from the first page didn't seem to help

Have you tried closing the wallet, and re-opening? i had to do this, then wait a while.

I had tried that twice, but just tried it again and it has connected thanks

Bit late to the party, as I've just started mining, but hopefully I can make a few coins

What intensity are you using on your cards that are dieing ?

i had a 7970 xfx not a great 1 for cooling but it died in 2 weeks i was running 20 intense

Now i have 2 x 280x and only run @ 13 intense

I normally run at I-19 and the cards are underclocked slightly on the core. My temps were fine never going over 82

Like I said earlier it all may be a coincidence that people having problems with these cards just wanted to make people aware

Just a word of caution, I woke up to 1 dead R9-290 this morning after mining scrypt-jane, the card was only 1 week old.

It may just be coincidence but If you look back through this thread a few people using the same card have noticed problems afterwards.

I've managed to take mine back and have traded them both for 2 r9 290x's now.

If they show up "DEAD" it doesnt actually mean that your card is broken, you know that right?
Means it has been unable to function, so CGMiner stops trying and calls it DEAD.
Mostly it's because of insufficient power, but there are some other reasons for it...
Try lowering the intensity a little bit, or if u have underclocked your GPU add like 0.010 VDDC to it.

Anyways if ur card shows up DEAD, just restart your PC and start mining again

I had an XFX r9 290 that I had in for about 3 days in December and I tried mining TIX (another scrypt-jane).  It failed and reset my system everytime the driver loaded from then out.  How to RMA it.  Just curious what brand you had this happen with?

It may just be a coincidence, as it wasn't running more than 2 days before it failed.  It's replacement has been running for about 2 weeks on normal scrypt without a hickup and 24 hours on scrypt-jane just fine.

It was the Gigabyte Radeon with the 3 fans on the front.

It seems strange that mining a different type of scrypt would cause any problems but I know of at least 2 people in this thread that have had issues with their R9 290's

It obviously has an effect of some sort which is why people are all getting 20%-40% less hashing speeds than they normally would.

I just took mine back to the local pc shop they tested it and took it back no questions asked thankfully.

I also get about 200Khash lower with my Sapphire 290.  I thought this was just the was the was "jane" worked on all cards.  Are the 290's the only ones that are slower with this scrypt?

No I think all cards are slower it is just that a couple of people have reported problems with the cards afterwards with R9 290's

No the card was dead as in not working anymore will get thrown in the bin. I tested it and the place where I bought it from tested it when I took it back.

My PC wouldn't power up with the card in it's slot and power is not a problem I have a 1000w seasonic and 2 cards only pull around 630w full system.

Why are ppl dumping this great coin so cheap and no1 wants to buy it Sad

https://freshmarket.co.in/index.php?page=trade&market=135

I hope the value will rise soon i want to cover my electric bill

And also keep some in storage but i cant @ this price gonna be like 1 litoshi soon per UTC

Not sure what you are expecting?

For a coin that has only been out for 24 hours, it's already being traded for $0.33-$0.50

So thats a good price then ?

I've no idea what this coin will end up being worth but it is the most profitable coin to mine that I know of at the moment.

anyone help out with a .bat for r9 290....cant seem to get over 650Kh

Thats about the same as I'm getting scrypt-jane hashes slower for some reason
234  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [SCRYPT JANE] UltraCoin (UTC) - Newly Launched on: February 02, 2014, 06:11:13 PM
Current price seems to be around 0.00054 BTC
no its not. i bought for 0.0001 and 0.00008 today

You got a good deal then.

I'm just going off the litecoin trades on the exchange currently 0.02 LTC/MTC

Is this coin worth cpu mining ?

I doubt it!

You could check for yourself now.

Try running just 3 cards and use task manager to see how much RAM is being used.

LOL thanks !!! I'm not a windows user, didn't even think of that !

Well it seems that I'm using only 1,4/1.6 gb of memory.... So not a ram problem.

Btw, it's a 100% dedicated to mining machine, bought, mounted and used only for mining.

I'm surprised it's using so little memory.

I guess you could check both your RAM sticks make sure that they both work ok on there own. Not sure after that, maybe check back further in the thread. I seem to remember someone saying they could only get 4 cards out of 5 working I may be getting confused with another thread though.
