There's no shortage of offensive material out there, if you look hard enough. And no matter how civil you intend to be someone will be offended by something you say or do. It's unavoidable.
Something specific about Arab culture which many Americans find curious; it is offensive to show the bottom of your shoes to someone. So if you are sitting with your legs crossed, who ever happens to be in direct line-of-sight of the bottom of your shoes may take offense.
I see your point but i think the Muslim World should be more concerned with other things other than a Nike Shoe Resemblance. Such as Waging War with Christians or Waging war against other Muslims. They can Focus on Basic Human Rights too. Stoning a Woman to death for Allegedly committing Adultery or Throwing a Gay person off a Roof seems to be more problematic than a Shoe Sole. What a fucked up religion it is. |

May's deal looks totally dead, but May herself seems relatively secure. It looks like nobody wants to take the blame when everything comes crashing down. I don't like her politics at all, and her deal was basically EU vassalage, but I kind of feel bad for May...
I think that no deal is likely to be reached, and they're going to cancel brexit at the last minute, either via a referendum or even unilaterally in parliament. Any future referendum will have a pro-EU result. Brexit's cancellation will absolutely infuriate the substantial minority of people who are still strongly pro-brexit. IMO the brexit people celebrated too soon, and haven't been doing enough to lock things up. Moreover, the whole UK political system has long been hopelessly screwed up, even moreso than the US, so it's difficult to expect any positive results in anything.
A no-deal brexit would probably be the best long-term result, especially if they can also bring themselves to significantly loosen their regulations vs the EU. The "A+ plan" would be very net-good for the UK long-term, for example, but it seems impossible; IMO the people of the UK would sooner accept May's vassalage deal with the EU than reduce their regulations so much. In any case, a hard brexit will probably cause a several-year-long economic depression in the UK as the economy adapts -- will the people freak out during this and demand returning to the EU (under extremely unfavorable terms)?
What are your predictions? If you're in the UK, how are things looking there?

 In this Image of Michaelangelos "Creation of Adam" in the sistine chapel in 1532 does this Masterpiece of art indicate we as humans were lazy and not trying at all? The Painting depicts God reaching out (Stretching even with his finger) to a lazy looking Adam who has his arm resting on his knee and barely straightening his finger like he almost doesn't care. Michaelangelo depicts him as a lazy slob with no cares for anyone including the Lord. Is this a subtle message from Michaelangelo saying we as humans are not worthy or not trying? If The Lord were reaching out to me as depicted in the painting i would have stretched until bones broke and muscles popped. Off topic: Why have the Gorgeous MASTERPIECES of art stopped hundreds of years ago? Can you name a single artist that has created such a Masterpiece of work in the last 200 years? |

I received my first 2 merits today on my god awful new account. I was a Legendary and got hacked. Anyways...I got my first 2 merits posting in my favorite section Politics & Society. I just posted how i felt about the topic and with no real thought about Merit. Boom 2 Merits. My advice is Enjoy the forum and make some Enjoyable comments with your own thoughts and not about thinking "Merits.

Yes you can call me a racist, but is that a bad thing? No, it's natural to seek out other people that are close to you genetically speaking. Studies have shown that people are much more willing to help others with social programs if it is their own race. Yet i don't have the "Racist" mentality you have. what drives the anger in you? Did you grow up in the city to have this hatred inside you or did you "Experience" a Black on white thing that has distorted your views? What is the hate for that fills you? You grew up in a multicultural society. He did not. He is not used to people who are not white. That is why it is hard for you to understand him. I don't think he hates non-whites, he just does not identify himself with non-whites. He feels they are not human because all his life he only interacted with white humans. Imagine if you were an alien who grew up on a planet Kolab and you and everyone you ever knew or came in contact with had a green skin, and you came to Earth and saw a white person. You would probably think they are alien, ghostly looking. That is why he sees a monkey when he looks at a black person. It takes quite a few years to re-train your brain to think otherwise and you have to be open-minded.
