221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Should I invest in altcoin now? on: June 29, 2018, 01:11:50 AM
Most people here will shill their alts to you but truth is owning bitcoin and ETH is the safest bet. If you are going to invest a substantial amount in alts stick with the top 20 and ones that have a long track record and decent liquidity like Monero, LTC, Stellar, etc
222  Economy / Speculation / Re: What/who make the price of bitcoin on: June 28, 2018, 02:31:26 AM
If it somehow acquired any value at all for whatever reason, then anyone wanting to transfer wealth over a long distance could buy some, transmit it, and have the recipient sell it.

Maybe it could get an initial value circularly as you’ve suggested, by people foreseeing its potential usefulness for exchange. (I would definitely want some) Maybe collectors, any random reason could spark it.
223  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why is a constant rise in the price of Bitcoin, important? on: June 28, 2018, 01:34:41 AM
The main reason I think it can't retain its value is- people are treating it as a stock and investment vehicle. However, the true idea behind bitcoin is for it to be a digital currency.

A currency is used to exchange goods and services, but as we all know mass adoption hasn't made it here yet so actual bitcoin transactions are minimal. Meaning a service or good was paid for in bitcoin.

From my understanding, this is how it should work... Bitcoin as Currency Example-i have $5000 in cash, i then purchase/convert my $5000 in cash into BTC. Then i use my btc to do everyday transactions. So let's say I buy a cheeseburger and for it in btc. The btc is deducted from my wallet and transferred to the vendor. Done its paid for. The value of bitcoin doesn't change, it only changes hands- the value still stays with-in the btc market.

However what is happening is... Bitcoin as investment vehicle Example- I buy $5000 in bitcoin, then 500 more people buy $5000 in bitcoin, we see a huge increase in bitcoin value, so I see my $5000 turn into $7000, so now I sell it. I walk away with $2000 of someone else's money. Now that money is taken out of the bitcoin market

The difference between a stock and btc- the stock is backed by a product that generates revenue. Bitcoin only has a value from the money someone invests in it. Because ideally if it were a currency- if I'm worth $100,000 USD, and I buy $100,000 btc- my net worth doesn't change, it doesn't become worth more. I simply just transact in btc aka DIGITAL CASH

The volatility of all cryptocurrencies is based on the fact that none have anything to stabilise them. They aren’t linked to anything that has a determinable real world value in any way, and the coins themselves do not. Stability in the value of any currency has to be based on something that can be traded, excluding currency itself. Crypto is used for buying, but a problems exists here, too. The knowledge of said pricing has to be public - private selling does not help at all because you can’t determine any general price of X item around which to create stability, and crypto is generally based on private sales for now. It won’t stabilise until enough trading is done in the public eye through legitimate services such as online stores - and a large number of them, at that. It doesn’t matter if every member of the public gets into crypto, the price will continue to jump and sink until a ton of businesses get involved and create a “general consensus” in terms of crypto value that everyone can see and many agree with.

It also doesn’t help that many people are holding onto it in the hopes of making money. Currency that isn’t being traded is detrimental to its survival anyway, and prolongs the time it would take to stabilise.
225  Economy / Speculation / Re: Right time to buy bitcoin "again" ??? on: June 27, 2018, 12:58:01 AM
If you don't try to catch the knife you don't get cut, and you never FOMO. It's the winning strategy.

I set up a spreadsheet with tiers and decided in advance to buy more as bitcoin hit lower and lower prices. The next is 5k, and then at 4k I'm buying double, and at 3k I'm buying double that.

But I'm not even sure it will get all the way down to 5k. And I can't decide if I'm happy about that or not.
226  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to attract big pre-ICO investors or syndicates? Is there any site for it ??? on: June 26, 2018, 09:25:20 PM
there are several ways to attract new investors, you can do it right here in the forum or other forums (like reddit) or you can promote yourself in the social media and campaign, there are also the project conferences and ICOs meetups to meet new people and promising investors
227  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Hacked wallet on: June 26, 2018, 03:00:53 AM
If the wallet offers a two-factor authentication take it. This means that if someone had access to your login details, they would also need your phone to get the 2FA code. However, note that text and email 2FA are not recommended as these can easily be intercepted if someone has access to your email, or ports your phone number to a new device.
228  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Reading Whitepapers on: June 26, 2018, 01:50:55 AM
You can learn a lot about a project just by looking at the whitepaper.

In summary, a good whitepaper: Gets the point across, does not market, describes attacks against the cryptocurrency, and how they are countered, describes the mathematics and cryptography adequately and technically

And a bad whitepaper: looks like a PowerPoint presentation, doesn't describe the mathematics, lacks references, tries to cover for a lack of innovation.
229  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC next stop is 5K$ on: June 25, 2018, 01:53:12 AM
Possibly, there is no way to predict the market, in the last few months it has been slowly declining so we could observe a normalization and a regularization, with it reaching 4.5k and stabilizing i would be more than happy
230  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why BTC is under $7K? on: June 25, 2018, 01:01:07 AM
I think an overlooked situation is a Mt. Gox trustee is positioning to liquidate 8,200 Bitcoins to pay off previous investors from the 2014 hack that bankrupted the world’s largest Bitcoin exchange at the time.

While seeing such a large amount of BTC moving has alarmed crypto investors, besides having a physiological effect, this move should not have any major impact on the value of Bitcoin in the long-term.
231  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin might rise soon on: June 24, 2018, 11:19:09 PM
Good things come to those who wait, the same holds true for Bitcoin as well. Like many companies and businesses that were established powerhouses before and after the crash-Bitcoin is also no different. There is no doubt that digital currency enthusiasts are concerned about the recent price decrease, but it’s merely for few days, soon Bitcoin’s price will surge and break all previous records.

It is a digital world where you can send, receive, and store digital currencies from your Smartphone in just a few, simple steps. It is a world where money is safe and easy to use, people can now trade with anybody and anytime. The allure of Bitcoin isn’t just about the money, it’s about the technology it brings to our world.
232  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH back to the price ~ $ 300 on: June 24, 2018, 02:12:34 AM
I think there's a chance that it will go even lower, and a crash could occur, we'll see if it recovers from that blow, if you really believe in ether then it would be a good time to invest. because some predictions give them enough hope
233  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum under $400 will be a good buy or ? on: June 24, 2018, 12:14:59 AM
Yeah, i too expect a base price around 350$ but if you don't want to gamble too much buy now to be sure anyway, Ethereum is slowly gaining on bitcoin, with BTC struggling to rally back past $7,000 to maintain resistance. Popularity in altcoins has spread, with investors impressed with the efficiency of smaller tokens.
234  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: When do you think Eth will break $2,000? on: June 23, 2018, 02:14:24 PM
For Ether to reach $2,000, more people need to start using it as a payment method, and more sellers need to start accepting it. This would prove that Ether is a viable method of currency exchange.

Therefore, new alternatives are needed to enable the masses to acquire Ether. Companies like Dether are working on platforms that allow interested parties to acquire Ether directly in cash. This is definitely a big step in the right direction.
235  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which is more risky? Bitcoin or bank investment? on: May 31, 2018, 12:09:52 PM
Bank invesements are for sure more trustworthy even if they have weird investmentplans like your country.

But if you want to earn big money i think investing in cryptocurrency is a bigger investment.
236  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Future of Cryptocurrency on: May 30, 2018, 07:55:13 PM
I don't know why starting a new crypto in your own country is a great idea when cryptocurrencies are a global payment method and especially when a big part of the goverment is against it.
