We have made headway!!!! First I would like to publicly apologize to Fayens. I made him a mod to the Reddit site so he could spruce up the site. I didn't' discuss this with the dev team and they revoked both of our access and pretty much called him out on it. Fayens, I'm sorry you had to go through that. I hope you can forgive me and the devs and are willing to come back and help.  Your coin is awesome. Please accept my token of gratitude. Thank you to vir6, cryptostoner, and RSPS for their full support in our irc chat "discussion". We spoke to the devs and they are uneasy in the name change, and have taken a stand that the name will not be changed. (Still no word from invisibel, though). HOWEVER.... They have compromised and have agreed to let us take the reins for marketing if and only if we market the coin as TiPS with (a.k.a. FedoraCoin). I think that's fair... and I really don't see an issue with it. We're rebranding but also letting the customer know that the coin is also known as FedoraCoin. That being said, we now have a green light to proceed as TiPS (a.k.a. FedoraCoin). There is another graphic artist nerd_name working on the advertisement of this coin. Here is some of his art work. I think we should bring him into the mix and tweak his vision to fit more in line with TiPS. Theres panic buying, panic selling and now theres panic holding. I think Im just panic holding because I believe the name tips is the best name for a coin in the real world. Am I being delusional holding onto tips because the longer I'm waiting to here from Invisible the stronger I feel that fedora is going to remain.
I'll be selling at a huge lose too, but I'm also missing out on other coins that are going up in value due to having a marketing strategy and team. A team that know about marketing and isn't programers trying to do it.
I'd hold on to my tips. I made the mistake before of selling coins that were much worse off than this coin, and guess what. They went up like tenfold. Again, coins that were much worse off than this one right now. Tips is gonna skyrocket soon enough, as soon as we organize this stuff, get the Invisibel to appoint someone who makes marketing decisions without him being around, start a massive marketing campaing, tips is gonna get big. They ideas are all there, laid out even now. The community is strong and full of motivation. Now, as soon as we get the go, we'll start sending this rocket to the moon. Not because it is easy. We need the green light now, an we can really start promoting the new tips with the new logo Thanks my friend! I smell victory and triumph coming our way! There is lot of potential and new territory where all this can go, success is now just a matter of hard and organized work. And I think with the good devs doing the amazing core work, and then the active community and the amazing skills that have shown up, TIPS will be strong and very successful and more importantly, do really useful service in the world which is the ultimate goal I believe. not short term gains, but long term success and services. Like I wrote there, it's not tipsCOIN. Good to have a subreddit, but confusing to others.Sound like a completely new coin. somebody suggested 'TIPS - The Internet Payment System', I suggest this would be best, and maybe add (Fedoracoin previously) temporarily to remove confusion. I am following TIPS constantly because I can see that it has a good dev team and it's behind people that supports the coin and puts effort on it.
I was looking some posts regarding to pay some btc to add it into some exchanges. What I would say about this issue is that yes, cryptorush already has it, and having it in mintpal wouldn't make a big difference. It's almost newer than cryptorush and its volume is similar or lower. Looking more into this, I would suggest if we get to the point of paying any exchange to add it is to put together enough funds to add it to a better exchange, let's say bter or cryptsy for tips/btc. I don't know if any of those accepts any kind of payment to make sure it's added. I suppose they don't because otherwise some ideas like this one would have come up.
But adding it to mintpal is gonna cost us some btc's which I am not sure if will be worth.
One more thing also is that it shouldn't take too much time to choose basic things as logo's and stuff like that because to the new people who comes into the thread that seems that we are just in the beginning as we are taking 10 pages to choose a logo and TIPS is been alive for quite longer. Having said this, I would say that the last one looks very attractive and quite pro, it looks like it's been made by a person who has knowledge on logos and has taken some time to make it.
Another thing, the name is important and I would say that it stands better for TIPS than Fedora. Fedora has been a defeat and people who look at it is very aware that a brand has to be renewed to make sure and let new joiners see that this is pointing in a different direction and we want to forget about the previous steps that were made. Besides Fedora doesn't look like a really attractive name. If I told someone who is outside of cryptoworld about Fedora he/she would say WTF?? Ok freak, come with a different weird story next day. That previous thing sounds bad, but cryptocurrency is the future, and it will be pointing to the average person who hasn't got knowledge on codes and computers and all that. We want to make something that can be used for everyone, and I am not talking about TIPS, I am talking about the whole world of cryptos. I don't want to compare but why doge has had so much success. Because it's not about technical issues. Technical issues are important to those who are worried about having their money safe and anonymous, but TIPS at the moment has to be more worried about good marketing and expanding than tech things because even if they are a big progress which is a big progress, average people usually don't give a damn thing about these feautures.

We need to ask invisibel politely to choose one additional person responsible for such decisions, and having a final word on all this- just in case he is not around and some decision needs to be made. We cannot afford waiting more than 24hrs for such things. Coin mixers are already around the corner, while we cannot decide what is our final logo/name/graphic design, whatever- it is getting pathetic. It is like all the developer's hard work- to get the whole thing working on time- is going to waste. Our name and brand need to stand for something, and to attract some investors too. Besides that it must be technologically innovative and fun to use. If we won't get past those initial stages soon, all our efforts will mean shit, and soon to be forgotten under the layer(s) of dust. This is the race gentlemen, if we are not moving forward, we are moving backward.Totally agreed, this is costing us valuable time. While debating about final approval of the logo, etc, we could already have several articles written about us, propagate the new tips logo and rebranding, spread the word about the coin mixing. It is taking way too long, and I fear other coins might steal us the show meanwhile. We definitely need someone for such decisions. |

I am so looking forward to the day when this whole Mt Gox odyssey will end.
It will truly be a grand day for bitcoin. Bitcoin, freed of this weight dragging it down, can continue to grow.
I think this might be even better for bitcoin in the long run, than getting rid of silk road.
Mt Gox has become the cancer of bitcoin, its plague if you will, unnecessarily delaying its ultimate triumph.

Yes sure it's still good But we need to ask for donation then, we are about to buy votes to get on MINTPAL too so i will not be able to give BTC for both sorry. I would be willing to donate a bit myself for the cryptocoinsnews article and organize a donation for the remaining btc. What we would need for this article is the approved logo, with final approval from invisibel. Then maybe Invisibel himself would be willing to summarize all relevant points and features about tips which we could then forward to cryptocoins news. Or I could try to write an article myself based on Invisibels summarization, but nothing goes without invisibels approval and rough draft. So I guess we'll have to wait until he shows up. |

Why can't you combine both themes of "financial tip" and fedora hat tip?
"tip of the hat to you sir", is still acknowledging someone rendered a good service.
upside down fedora can be equated to a tip jar.
Why can't the fedora hat be included in the logo. In fact, for recognition purposes, I think it SHOULD be included in the logo.
Please define "Financial Tip" and "Fedora Hat Tip" to us please. What would be your vision?
 Well that logo is awesome !!! It is clean, has TIPS in it, and also the hat And I totally agree, rebranding the name to TIPS is an absolute must. This Fedora/Tips confusion, well... it confuses people. And I have to say, I also like TIPS as an acronym for Total internet privacy and security. |
