How to mine this coin? i downloaded a cpu miner from cryptocureency-blog but it got error.
I'm not sure that Windows binary was compiled as a Windows distribution binary...

Am I arriving late to this party?
cpuminer-opt with HOdl support now in beta.
I'm getting around 400 H/s on i7-6700K @ 4 GHz. How does it compare?
Edi: pool reports about 60% of the hashrate cpuminer-opt reports. This puts my performance in line with hodlminer.
Currrent beta version of cpuminer-opt also works on non-AES_NI CPUs.
Great can't wait to see what you can come up with..

Thanx again!! The bump in hash is great!! 3k HOdl sent your way..

Anyone else knowing hashrate for other cpu. Please post your hashrate and cpu
Pentium G3220 @ 3GHz, 20h/s AMD FX 9370 @ 4.7GHz, 170h/s Solo mined just two blocks now in the last week, both on the AMD machine. 2 bloks are 100 HODL right now 1 hodl on yobit is 7135sat = 713500 sat you earned this week and how much electricity you used if you are smart buy it , it cheaper now Having solo mined nothing for three days I've switched to pool mining which is earning me about 16~17 hodl a day. I'm sure my PCs are using more power than this is worth, and running hodlminer is affecting my ethminer hashrate, so going to stop mining hodl. It's not worth it. Welcome to the club!!!!!!!!!!!! Well if I'm reading this right... When you say "it's not worth it" to you.. You mean mining it then dumping it to pay the electric bill.. Your not able to do this? But in my eyes I'm mining for future value and my personal opinion is it is worth it.. However everyone must make this call on their own..

Hi all, love the Hodl, but i'm not understanding a purpose. i know that main intent is to pay interest and to demonstrate the effects of compounding. but past that, i don't get a feeling that this alt currency would be widely adopted. please help me understand what i'm missing. and why should i hold HODL? sincerely - Taltos777
Maybe your right maybe it will only be slightly more adopted then Bitcoin.. seeing how HOdl is Bitcoin with interest

Can this be mined with GPU or is it CPU only coin .It's say's in the OP it's CPU/GPU friendly so what mining program do i use
According to Wolf yes GPU mining is very possible... He is sick atm.. he may look in to doing this once he gets better..

How can I tell the total amount of coin in 'deposit'? Also, is there a way to view these stats publicly, so for example: duration, accounts, etc.
It's not public yet.. It's being worked on.. I can't give you the whole breakdown you asked for.. Just too much info.. But the total HOdled (deposited) is 1,120,259

While a 51% attack is much harder then is let on.. It is a great idea to spread out the hash.. We have 2 pools one with 2% fees and one with 1% fees.. And then we also still have Solo mining which for my servers is still doing well..

I'm testing my pool currently, if some one is curious and wants to help a bit, please throw some hashes over: http://hodl.suprnova.ccEverything including Hashrate display, Payouts etc. should be right, please let me know if not, currently i'm searching for the first block but it seems my tiny cpu's are too slow to get something in reasonable time You can use the same settings like with the other pool for the hodlminer. hodlminer -a hodl -o stratum+tcp://hodl.suprnova.cc:4693 -u Weblogin.WorkerName -p WorkerPassword working well, thanks for your effort on this. Just need some power to move over to Supernova .,.... waiting to hit our first block The pool hashrate is slowly increasing, we should hit our first block soon. Looks like we just hit our first two blocks Yes, finally I'll fix the stats now Nice 1% fee!! thanx for the add

Is there work being done to get this coin on more exchanges? I don't want to sign up for a new exchange just to trade a coin.
yes, last few weeks were discussing on bittrex slack about HOdl jet did not receive clear yes or no. If you guys want to trade HOdl on bittrex then please join their slack chat and ask @bittrex-bill & @bittrex-richie directly for addition. Community can move mountains if you choose so. bittrex.slack.com and a lot of us did coin request @poloniex already, but still no word. it can't hurt if some of you do the same. https://poloniex.com/coinRequestthanks Im new here, and I found Hodl on Yobit troll box being discussed. I like the idea of depositing having its interest being lock like time deposit Try to start the CPU Mining now, so far its running smooth. without pools, solo mining all depends on luck,it may keep some miners away. Im not sure I'm reading this right but do you mean we need a pool? like we don't have one? bc we have one https://hodl.blockquarry.com/index.php

how to set minermemory ? i try command -minermemory=2 -genproclimit=4 on debug windows not work " methode not found ( code -32601 ) " It's command line argument. For example you can run it like this: >HOdlcoin-qt.exe -gen=1 -minermemory=5 -genproclimit=19 This sets mining on using 5 GB memory with 19 CPU threads. ^^ would be 5 mining instances with 19 mining threads each... Is there a way I could adjust the number of mining threads ?
Threads = minermemory * genproclimit I suggest leaving minermemory to the default which is 1. Then with genproclimit you can set the number of threads. I have an i7 CPU. Changing genproclimit to 6 does change the number of threads reported by my wallet when mining to 6, but the wallet still utilizes 100% of the CPU most of the time but drops off to 25% briefly every few seconds. Is there a setting that would give me a steady 75% CPU utilization instead of the peaks and valleys? The mining thread count needs to be a power of 2 (2,4,8,16...) or it will round up to the closest one.. So if you have 8 CPU threads and you mined at 50% you need to do 1/4 (ram/threads) or 2/2 but like stated above 1/4 would work the best.. Sam goes if you have 4 CPU threads 1/2 would be 50%.. Like stated a few time before.. Terms to know CPU cores: the number of physical cores on your CPU CPU threads: the number of threads your CPU has, so if your CPU is hyper threaded then this is (core count x 2) Mining threads: number used in "genproclimit" Total mining threads: genproclimit x minermemory (threads x ram) Mining instances: each 1gb of ram used ( number used in "minermemory") Mining cycle: 1000 searched On most rigs you can get a total mining threads a little higher the CPU threads.. This needs to be test to find optimal for your system.. Let's take one of my rigs for example.. It has 48 CPU threads I have it set at 7/8 which is 56 total mining threads.. This is bc there is a slight delay right after the mining cycle and each instance cycles at different times.. So this leaves just a little room for the extra mining threads.. ^^ is a break down so you can better understandIs it possible to change the RAM usage on a windows wallet, if so how?
If you missed it and don't feel like reading through the thread to use -miningaddress="address" and or optimize your miner see below 1. Make sure your wallet is closed 2. Make sure your Hodlcoin-qt.exe is on your Desktop 3. Bring up Run (Press [Window] + [R] on your keyboard) 4. Paste below in Run %userprofile%\Desktop\HOdlcoin-qt.exe -gen=1 -minermemory=2 -genproclimit=4 -miningaddress="address" *Note put your address in place of "address" like this "HEX8QLWqQ7p7MFNiN8CMrMjC2CYAy8pwi9" **Note minermemory should be "1" or "2" on windows any higher and you ger a Runtime error ***Note minermemory is the amount of Ram your using and must be multiplied by genproclimit to equal totale Threads you would like to use example (-minermemory=2 -genproclimit=4 is 8 Threads) I see now, thanks! If you don't want to type it out every time you start the wallet you can just make a batch file in the same location as your wallet that says the same thing and just click the batch file to start your miner. If you don't know how, just make a .txt file with notepad and once you save it, change the file extension type to .bat In note pad type this rpcuser=username rpcpassword=password p2pport=1989 rpcport=11989 gen=1 minermemory=2 genproclimit=4 miningaddress=yourwalletaddresshere
Then Save like this 1. In the Save as type dropdown box Select: All Files2. File name: hodlcoin.conf3. Save it to hodlcoin folder Note: if you need help finding the folder just save it to the Desktop, then Search for %appdata%\hodlcoin Drag/Drop new hodlcoin.conf from Desktop to hodlcoin folder ^^ was taken from the mining guide thread..https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1383479.0

so with the stardard interest do you only get 5% apr ...... and with the term you get the bonus interest 1000% +
No. You get the standard interest (about 5%) no matter what. You also get the bonus interest no matter what, which is well over 5% now and continues until it runs out gradually over about two years. You also get the term bonus if you lock for a term. Your coins need to be moved every 30 days to keep earning interest, but not if they are locked for a term. also want to confirm the max compounding rate is 30 days ? so it is best to keep making 30 day term then lock it away for a No it is not. The maximum term bonus is for one year. Read the OP. ok thanks how much better it the Term bonus then just leaving it in my wallet? is there a comparison or is it the same as http://hodlcoin.github.io/ but leaving the term on 1 day ? just wonder if it better to lock away for 12 months , then leave it in my wallet and sell it when the price goes up in 6 months also is there any way to unlock a term deposit ( even if you lose the interest ? penalty? ) also do you lock the interest rate at the current price if you get a term deposit ? You always get exponentially more interest on Term deposits then you will earn with just Standard interest.. Something to note.. That you get locked in (as in its set, not being "locked") to the current Standard interest rate the moment it's moved to the address.. Then in 30 days when you move it (or when ever you move it) again your locked at that much lower standard interest rate for the next 30 days.. With Terms you get that same rate through the whole term.. Ok I know we as a mass may still be getting use to blockchain technology with its redundant certainties and with its lack of being able to be manipulated or controlled by a central authority.. And Term deposits may look like a CD that you get issued by your local bank.. But your deposits are written to the blockchain and can not be unwritten for a penalty or a loss of interest..

When you put your coin in the term depoist to get interest - DO you have to leave the wallet open for the full 30 days ? or can I close it and come back in 30 days to collect my interests ?
also want to confirm the max compounding rate is 30 days ? so it is best to keep making 30 day term then lock it away for a
Ok there is Standard and Term interest.. Term is when you lock them up and has nothing to do with the 30 days.. Term you lock them up for the length of the Term you decide on (1yr Max) Standard interest is paid on every Hodl out there.. Every block.. standard stops accumulating after 30 days and has to be moved (simply sent back to your self..) Both happen with the wallet closed, Open, Printed, Deep frozen or Set on fire.. Here is a video I made as a guide.. https://youtu.be/_7CUiORCZGY

Ok after 2 full test days on the pool I figured I would pass along my findings..
So doing the math on number of blocks I found on the pool and number of Hodl I earned I only kept 72.4% of what I found.. This is only my findings , yours may vary.. So to put this to numbers based on my findings if you solo mined 1000 Hodl you only keep 724 of them..

any linux familiar folks care to give tip ? i picked up source from hodl.blockquarry.com pool , unfortunately all my makes on ubuntu 14.04 ends up with following :
g++ -DHAVE_CONFIG_H -I. -Wall -D__STDC_LIMIT_MACROS -MT hodlminer-hodl.o -MD -MP -MF .deps/hodlminer-hodl.Tpo -c -o hodlminer-hodl.o `test -f 'hodl.cpp' || echo './'`hodl.cpp In file included from hodl.cpp:1:0: miner.h:10:21: fatal error: jansson.h: No such file or directory #include <jansson.h>
any direction what could be issue
The libjansson-dev is missing. The following command line will install the dependencies and build (it includes the -Ofast flasg recomended by pallas): sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install gcc g++ libjansson-dev make automake autoconf libcurl4-openssl-dev pkg-config yasm libboost1.55-all-dev libssl-dev && wget https://hodl.blockquarry.com/downloads/hodlminer.tar.gz && tar -zxvf hodlminer.tar.gz && cd hodlminer && ./autogen.sh && ./configure CFLAGS="-Ofast -march=native" CXXFLAGS="-Ofast -march=native" && make This build resulted in 10%-20% more than wallet miner. CH Thanx for posting this here I broke it down to lines and added a few things.. sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get install gcc g++ make automake autoconf pkg-config libboost-all-dev libssl-dev sudo apt-get install libcurl4-openssl-dev libjansson-dev wget https://hodl.blockquarry.com/downloads/hodlminer.tar.gz tar -zxvf hodlminer.tar.gz cd hodlminer ./autogen.sh ./configure CFLAGS="-Ofast -march=native" CXXFLAGS="-Ofast -march=native" make -j sudo make install ./hodlminer -a hodl -o stratum+tcp://hodl.blockquarry.com:3032 -u Weblogin.WorkerName -p WorkerPassword -t 8 Note the -t is for the number of mining threads you would like to use.. if you omit it completely (remove "-t x") the miner will auto detect the max number of threads..

To the author : How would you guarantee this project of yours will not be abandoned? As it was with Lottoshares.
Well it's not just Freetrades responsibility to keep up with HOdlcoin.. It's all of ours..

no need to mine, put 250 hodl in hodl mode, and wait 1 year = profit? 10k coins lol
Sure, but the price will have dropped immensely by then if it will happen it mean that this coin was bound to die anyway and it was not a good coin No, this coin is great, but the supply will be gigantic in one year but the demand won't be that much bigger than now so the price will drop I'm not sure. That may happen. But in a year the interest rate will still be 5% or so. Someone with a big stash of maturing coins can sit on them and earn a lot of interest (or reinvest for another year and get around 10% instead). The role of interest in this coin is to incentivize hodling over dumping, and that will be just as true in a year as it is today. 5-10% on a large number of coins is still attractive. I don't know that this will happen, of course, but it seems at least plausible that a lot of the maturing supply in a year will just continue to hodl and receive interest. Well it's even better bc in 1yr from now it will still be ~234% interest.. In 2yrs from now it will be 5% so if you relock all your nuts 1yr from now for another year.. And then after that you just sit on your nuts.. Your sack will be big enough to live on just the 5%
