221  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Donald Trump's stance on Bitcoin is changing, the Trump pump is beginning on: May 11, 2024, 02:31:42 AM
It's laughable that any of you could believe this sociopath cares about anything other than himself.  He will screw you over the second it suits his interests.  He doesn't like crypto, he's merely obsessed with himself.

This is true but it also holds true for most politicians. They have to be willing to say or do anything to win some votes. They will say "Bitcoin is bad" to some curmugeony union representatives, ensuring that their treasury bonds are secure thanks to the strength of the US dollar, then turn around and say "Bitcoin rocks" to a group of high school students.

At the end of the day, whoever is elected will fall in line with what the Federal Reserve tells them, which will of course be to support the dollar and shit on bitcoin whenever possible.

I (ok someone who can code) should make an automated ChartBuddy gambling game, where you can bet on "higher" or "lower" within the 1st 5 mins of a ChartBuddy post. If the next CB post price meets your prediction, you win... however many WOmerits you bet, or something.
223  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Donald Trump's stance on Bitcoin is changing, the Trump pump is beginning on: May 10, 2024, 05:09:14 AM
There are two Donald Trumps, and 75% of the time they don't like Bitcoin.

The first Donald is the off-the-cuff Trump where he just speaks his mind w/o consulting anybody. That one doesn't like Bitcoin.

The second Donald is the calculated, do-what-your-handlers-say Trump, which told him to tweet he didn't like Bitcoin at first, but they see a new voter demographic by being pro-Bitcoin, so now they tell him to say he likes it.

He also had those stupid Polygon and now Ordinals NFTs. So maybe after getting a cut of those proceeds (or paid for his likeness), he appreciates crypto all the more.

Who knows. He can kind of just say anything at any time, and if you already like him, it won't matter if what he's saying now is a contradiction. For many of his fans, he can do no wrong.

Trump's speech will be the beginning for the Trump pump.

Usually I'm for pumps in any form, but how long before the Trump dump?
224  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: POW Rune Protocol on: May 10, 2024, 04:24:02 AM
That's not what he said, so he's not wrong. People have been using these types of platforms since 2012. The 1st version of Tether was on one such platform, and it worked fine. Nobody pretended it didn't exist because it relied on an external protocol.
Tether is an excellent example to prove my point!

It is not a "Bitcoin token",

That's exactly what it is. Its not a matter of opinion -- you're just wrong. I don't know what you get out of trying to trick newbies into believing your falsehoods, other than to further your personal dogma.

it does not exist inside Bitcoin protocol or even inside Bitcoin blockchain. It exists and is enforced inside a separate centralized database controlled by a company that can control the values being transferred, can shut it down, increase/decrease the circulating supply, freeze accounts and take your money, decide to ignore a tx on bitcoin blockchain that is supposed to transfer Tether, etc.

It uses the bitcoin blockchain as a method of accounting, just like bitcoin does. Everything else you describe is handled at the Omni protocol level. Nobody has ever once suggested bitcoin tokens were a totally inherent part of the bitcoin protocol. That's a red herring argument.

So yeah like Tether, the Ordinals junk does not exist in Bitcoin either. It is just arbitrary data that is being stored inside bitcoin blockchain, treating it as cloud storage.

You just contradicted yourself here. It does not exist in bitcoin yet its stored in the bitcoin blockchain? Wut? Neither Omni nor Ordinals transactions are considered "confirmed" until the block containing their "arbitrary/junk data" is confirmed. Thus both protocols are at least somewhat intertwined with the bitcoin protocol. Its not really up for discussion so much as a reality, but feel free to continue spreading falsehoods and I'll continue correcting them.
225  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: POW Rune Protocol on: May 10, 2024, 12:29:10 AM
Rune protocol is a popular Bitcoin ecological token protocol recently
Wrong. Bitcoin is not a token creation platform and you cannot create any tokens inside Bitcoin.

That's not what he said, so he's not wrong. People have been using these types of platforms since 2012. The 1st version of Tether was on one such platform, and it worked fine. Nobody pretended it didn't exist because it relied on an external protocol.

arbitrary data that means nothing and is worth nothing.

If people are willing to pay money for something and there is a market for it, it has a value that exists independently of your world view. Don't blame me, blame the market.
226  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] AgoraDesk.com | Buy ♻️ Sell Bitcoins Anonymously! on: May 09, 2024, 03:19:08 AM
Bummer. Just opened the site to see the bad news. Kinda afraid to place an order now, with only 1 week to go before trades are closed completely, for a potentially reversible payment method. Was a great service but I don't blame them for making this difficult decision -- US is cracking down hard on crypto. This year, 10 years into my crypto experience, marks the end of an era. RIP free markets & free trade.

Operate the service in a country which is maximally-hostile to the U.S. govt. Even if FBI/NSA/SEC etc will deanonymize owner's name and address, they cannot do anything in real life.

They can still torment sellers based in non-hostile countries.
227  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: MemoryDealers aka Roger Ver Arrested! on: May 09, 2024, 02:30:22 AM
Check Monero's development team.  They are anonymous since 2014.

Except for their main, original dev who got the ball rolling. The project wouldn't have gotten off the ground without him, and he's possibly one of the most well-respected people in the crypto space (I put him several notches above Roger Ver any day of the week).

Who's to say Vitalik Buterin, Charles Hoskinson, and Gavin Wood are next? If everyone followed Satoshi's footsteps, crypto land would be a much better place. Sad

Easy to say in retrospect...

You were trying to cheat a bounty, and then you got tagged for it. You probably have more accounts but lucky for you I'm no longer interested in connecting bounty cheating alts. The work should be done by the managers, but most managers don't do the work, and as a result the campaign they manage suffers with too many low-quality participants. I don't understand how they keep getting work frankly.

I have 45,000 plus posts. franky1 has 40,000 plus.

we should be perfect targets for a good ai programmer to mimic.

Would love to see if it gets done.

I wouldn't think of it so much as being a "target" as a "test subject."

You have a particular style of posting as well, although it is not quite as pronounced as franky1.

When I get some spare time, I'll see what I can do to make it happen... it must be possible.

 Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Worst of all he is posting nonsense in the Technical Support section.

GPTZero,ZeroGPT and CopyLeaks do not detect artificial intelligence in first post.

Yes I confirm the same thing. If I tweak part of it, Sapling.ai's confidence goes up from 80.1% to 97.8% Fake.

Numerous variables, such as the volume of transactions, block size, and data storage needs, affect the size of the Bitcoin blockchain database, which houses all transaction records, but it keeps growing as new transactions are added to the network. And also Size is subjected to change and may have changed from my previous update.

Since efficiency varies depending on the situation, there are no certain tests that show the size of the Bitcoin database to be the most efficient. In contrast, Bitcoin's database size is frequently found to be more efficient than that of conventional banking systems when it comes to specific tasks like transaction processing and verification.

The underlined part makes it a dead giveaway that he is using ChatGPT, no matter what alterations he made, so this post should be deleted on that basis.

Creating and designing a simple website involves several steps. Here's a basic guide to get you started:

233  Other / Meta / Re: Use of AI on Bitcoin talk on: May 06, 2024, 07:24:30 AM
I think mods are in a quite difficult situation when they evaluate AI reports. First things first, there is no rule which prohibits the use of AI. So, reporting it and using "AI" as excuse, does not satisfy the conditions for deletion. Only if the post is completely meaningless, it'd be removed, but that's because being "completely meaningless" is against the rules. So, if someone used accurate AI responses, I'm not entirely sure what a mod should do.

Pretty sure I'm up to over 100 "good" reports where I put "AI spam" in the report description along with a link to the post that details the detector results in this thread. But yes, simply being AI-generated isn't enough to have it deleted. I find that threads that open with an AI post aren't necessarily deleted, especially if its an advertisement for a new coin, token, or service. A post can contain "accurate responses" and still be spam at the same time.

Should there be more mobilization of users in that regard? Perhaps start giving neg trust to those abusing AI to make posts... Or we just don't care about it anymore?
If it's totally apparent, then yes. Any account which is essentially run by a chatbot, presented as a human, cannot be trusted.

I've been neutral tagging users for it -- I don't think red tag is appropriate as it doesn't necessarily have anything to do with trade trustworthiness. If others want to red tag offending accounts for it, I'm not gonna try to stop them.
234  Other / Meta / Re: How Can We Identify Someone Who Uses AI? on: May 06, 2024, 06:37:15 AM
I want to a thread attempting to write as if I am an AI.

Mostly out of intellectual curiosity .

Has any one made a thread with well known posters trying to write like AI.

I have personally checked over 1000 of my posts and none register as ai.

My interest has a few points. Should a guy copy every post made by me and feed it into An ai generator that attempts to write like I

I really wanted to train ChatGPT to write in the style of franky1. I fed it like 100 of his posts and told it to write a response in his style, which is a very distinct writing style. It couldn't do it. What it could do was mimic his negativity and more-or-less convey his positions on things. But it couldn't capture the essence of his style.

If you want to train an AI language model to write in your style, I'm sure its possible, I just don't know what tool to use to make that happen.

Yeah but I don't think anyone truly down with the bitcoin ethos (miners included) has ever really cared what those two entities have to say about... anything.

Eventually - if/when - we get invaded by aliens, a one-world government might not be such a bad idea. We'll really need to get our shit together. Until then we'll continue to argue with anyone who holds different beliefs than we do.
236  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Edward Snowden Final Warning for Bitcoin on: May 04, 2024, 12:33:14 PM
Privacy sidechain? Liquid network might be what you're looking for since they implement Confidental Transaction. For something easier or lighter on Bitcoin on-chain, MimbleWimble or other form of non-interactive CoinJoin probably are better option than CT.

Litecoin, which signaled MWEB into activation in May 2022, has always been something of a test environment for features later implemented in Bitcoin. Litecoin was the 1st to have SegWit, a Lightning Network, and now MWEB, which is an optional privacy enhancing feature, used by Grin as default.

Here's a pretty in-depth article about how it all works. I honestly don't see why this can't also be integrated with BTC, if miners signaled for it... maybe there's a good reason but I don't know what it is.
237  Other / Meta / Re: How Can We Identify Someone Who Uses AI? on: May 04, 2024, 11:27:54 AM
Last but not least, an AI language model will have a certain writing pattern. It will separate paragraphs, and start paragraphs with words such as However, Lastly, Additionally, etc.

Here is an example of a post that I feel is written by using an AI model: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5495149.msg64026270#msg64026270

Yes, you're exactly right about this instance. ChatGPT's use of these phrases is exceedingly common, more than a regular human being would ever use.

And when there's one, there's usually more, so I added him to this thread to get his posts deleted.

Generating your own key pair locally is a step towards self-custody, which many in the crypto community advocate for. Your use of the secp256k1 curve and the process you've outlined seem correct.

However, when it comes to security, there are a few additional considerations. Firstly, ensure your private key remains private and is stored securely, preferably offline. Additionally, regarding encoding, it's common to save keys in formats like hexadecimal rather than Base64 for compatibility and ease of use.

Before transferring your BTC, it's wise to test the process with a small amount first to ensure everything works smoothly. Lastly, consider exploring hardware wallets for an added layer of security if you plan to hold significant amounts long-term.

Bitcoin's popularity as an investment continues to grow, thanks to its potential for long-term profit and its utility for online transactions. It's worth noting that while transactions are decentralized via blockchain technology, this also means there's no central authority verifying them. This aspect can offer financial freedom, but users must understand the risks of the volatile crypto market.

Your post raises some thought-provoking points about the vast landscape of cryptocurrencies and the challenges of discerning value among them. It's true that the sheer number of tokens and coins can be overwhelming, with many lacking clear purpose or utility.

You highlight the importance of considering the intentions behind projects and the risks associated with holding certain coins, particularly in light of the potential for manipulation and changes in rules. It's a reminder to approach investment in this space with caution and due diligence.

I'm curious, how do you personally navigate through the multitude of cryptocurrencies to identify those with genuine long-term potential? And do you believe there are any promising projects beyond Bitcoin that align with its principles of decentralization and utility?

You cannot accuse me without sufficient proof. I did not use any text spinner or any other tool. I also checked some of your posts and also got 47%, 13%, 24% ai generated. Now what if i say that you also use text spinner to write your post.

So that means there's less than a 50% chance that any of those posts used AI, which means they most likely weren't created using AI. Whereas the excerpt from your post I highlighted came back with a 94% chance... Admittedly yes, I don't have enough evidence to report your posts as being AI-generated (using my own standards), so I'm not gonna do that.

The main difference between you and me is your posts suck. They contain illogical blather of no substance, yet are of better-than-average grammatical construction. This suggests you are at the very least using some kind of editing tool. Still, you put zero thought or effort into what you do here and are just churning out nonsense in hopes it will magically lead to a payday. Not to mention the other half your posts are guesses for contests.

I'd say there's zero chance you aren't currently running multiple accounts on this forum, but this one will not get as far as you had hoped.

In any case, I hope you've at least learned to stay away from posting in the technical boards as you clearly know nothing when it comes to the technical details of bitcoin, and your idiocy could actually end up costing money for anyone who somehow took you seriously.
