221  Other / Meta / Re: Poll: Acceptability of Signature Wearer's Use of Insults and Foul Language on: March 24, 2024, 08:22:43 AM
Op, there are only two options in your poll and I think it will be fair to add more options(s). I would have voted the second option, but the word strictly has made it no longer appropriate to be my answer. In the forum, most of the things are not just followed strictly. Whether or not in the forum, foul words and insults are not acceptable and atleast they shouldn't be paid for. But how then will a campaign manager read in-between lines of every posts to know the ones containing foul words.

That's the answer, you can lock this topic.
Is there a special reason why people request that a thread be locked immediately after providing their own answers? This doesn't look like a shitty thread or so...

thank you for the posting. if you tell me what options I should add maybe I still can add those.

BTW I don't think that foul language and insults are difficult to see or needed to be looked for in between the lines.

cheers
  • Yes, it is acceptable
  • No, it is strictly unacceptable
  • It is subjective
  • Insignificant
I could go with the last option, unless it is an obvious dead brain troll. Again, it is easier for moderators to locate an insulting thread and delete all comments than a manager to identify and deny such posts.

223  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Don't Fall Victim on: March 23, 2024, 11:57:31 PM
It is a good decision to stay away from memecoins and shitcoins. Well, there's some people who are looking for a chance to earn more money through investing so they would still risk some of their money for a chance to gain profit. It shouldn't be just staying away from memecoins and shitcoins that people should do but also being updated to news/information about cryptocurrency and also about scam websites or platforms that a person may become a victim of it.
I have discovered that some people after investing in their major or preferred projects, they have some bucks they spread over some random shitcoins expecting great returns. Some of the times they are successful and most times they lose as well. This is supposed to be called some kind of gambling and not investment. Although, they claim they make research on the social media, maybe from the projects handle. But all these researches do not end well most. Then there are people who do not gamble, maybe they don't believe they can be rich overnight. Or they have phobia in investing in what they are not sure. I am like those.
224  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: excited to join this forum on: March 23, 2024, 11:46:37 PM
Great you are excited to be here. This is a beautiful place to be. It is full of information and resources. I bet you will be more excited everyday of your life to be here. I don't know for others, but I have found joy in this forum. Since I discovered this forum, I have been less active on social media. Honestly, I can't remember when last I used X and Instagram. This is an honest confession. There are many things that give joy here. However, there also people who exit here prematurely with the claim that here is harsh and unfriendly to newbies. It seems things are subjective and yet relative here.
225  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to be ready when it comes to selling? on: March 22, 2024, 06:06:32 PM
The 25% of my crypto I hold on exchange is Coinbase.

Coinbase is one of if not the biggest exchange - what are the chances of it collapsing during a bull run?

I understand exchanges collapsing during bear market but would be surprised if any were to during bull run , has that happened before?
Hey!
Coinbase is not gonna collapse anytime and not even now. But then, no one will openly advise you to keep funds on exchanges, just follow your mind mate.
Meanwhile, if you want to sell at $150k and before the fund arrives exchange from your cold wallet it drops to $148k, I don't think there's a significant difference which we will consider as losses. So, nothing to trouble about.
226  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Am in dire need of assistance for my improvement on: March 22, 2024, 05:48:55 PM
Help!!!

Hello everyone, I am a newbie and am in dire need of help as I'm eager to learn but I have little or no experience on how to navigate through the forum.
I joined the forum late 2022 but most of my discussions are being moved to off topics, probably because my discussions aren't of good qualities.
One of the reasons why I got depressed and left but I am back now, in good health and sane mind, ready to learn to improve the quality, and also give back positive impact to the community.

Please kindly recommend me books and guide on how to be better.
Thanks in advance
I am happy that you are back again after giving a break for some certain reasons you have narrated above. Your grammatical structure is connected and understandable, so I am sure English language is not your problem. What I think is your major problem is focused and determination. You have to be determined to succeed here before you can. Also the forum is so broad and that does not mean that you will have to engage in all the boards in the forum. You can easily make an off topic discussion when you discuss in the subjects that you know little/nothing about. Since here is Bitcoin forum, it will make a better sense if you focus on studying about Bitcoin. There are a lot of articles especially in the Bitcoin discussion board that teaches about bitcoin and the general internet can also give an edge in studying Bitcoin. That being said, everything is available for you, just explore and prosper.
227  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A weird interview on: March 22, 2024, 01:37:07 PM
What do you people all mean about Bitcoin price or family? They waited ten years for you, they can wait a few days more.
Just my perspective as well. There's no correlation between both. Checking the BTC price wouldn't mean you love your family less. The information about would definitely be they are older, maybe new ones you wouldn't know and some that must have died.

I will bite my ***k if I get to know that you don't own a full Bitcoin just like John McAfee said if Bitcoin price doesn't get to $1M(rest in peace man, Bitcoin community misses you). Grin
What then will you do if you discover that I don't even own any fraction of it?

Make sure you have access to your wallet, many OGs lost their access when Bitcoin price is really high, so it would be frustrating to see Bitcoin price surge high and you didn't own it anymore. Cheesy
Very frustrating indeed.
About Franky1 concern of Devs, I think any new development will likely be backward compatible for atleast one decade.
228  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / A weird interview on: March 21, 2024, 04:41:49 PM
I was recently interviewed on air. The interviewer described my answer to her question as weird. During the interview, something led to the other and I was asked thus;
The interviewer: If you are eventually imprisoned and denied access to internet and communication for 10 year, on regaining freedom what's the first thing you will do?
My answer: I will ask for a mobile phone or a laptop to check the Bitcoin price Grin
She exclaimed that it is weird that I love bitcoin that much. She proceeded to ask if I am sure bitcoin will still be around in 10yrs time and what value will it have.
My answer: Things change alot, 5 years is alot for many things to happen let alone 10 years. However, I believe bitcoin will be around and it might worth between 100k to 300k dollars.

230  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The severing of international Internet cables. on: March 19, 2024, 08:29:50 PM
I'm starting to see more and more reports of Internet cables being severed. We have always had a few fail as a result of accidental damage, but the bellicose actions of the US seem to be leading us into a period of deliberate damage to weaken intercontinental communications.
I had thought that the recent internet collapse is peculiar to my country alone. I have watched out to see others complain and I have just seen now. I had thought communication will always be unhindered, but the recent collapse made me think twice. Like internet could be stopped or what ...

I believe we already have good alternative which is Starlink.
How many investors in bitcoins can really afford the Starlink? and its monthly subscription?

You’ve seen the amount of money invested in cryptocurrency? Have you checked how much is in the Bitcoin market? People have invested really large sums of money into crypto and for those who know what they have in it, they won’t want to miss a beat. But like I heard, this affected Africa continent. They can be smart about it by contributing money to purchase it (if they can’t afford it individually). Same goes for the subscription.
It depends if there's alot of understanding and co-operation in your neighborhood. You can only do this with people of great understanding.
231  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: New trader's must remember it. on: March 19, 2024, 07:19:07 PM
Now-a-days many people are interested in trading. But it is harmful for everyone especially those who are trading without knowing it. They are losing all money despite knowing technical analysis. The main reason is psychological.

I have shared a photo below if following this photo will benefit them. Although beginners get technical analysis right then they get lost in psychological. I think this psychological conundrum should always be kept in their head.

Noted: This photo is taken from a group. Avoid copyright issue.

This is a very nice and interesting infographics. If an average Jonny follows this information in their learning journey, they could be successful. But then, most times some of these instructions when followed strictly is misleading. Take for instance, there's an instruction that says, Trust your analysis. It is nice to be dynamic. If your analysis is going wrong, simply make changes. Also, it could be dangerous that you change your strategy prematurely and it finally plays. The market is dynamic and I feel that there's no special way to achieving success than just being as dynamic as the market and being open to learning.
232  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Success is a meaningless word without failure. on: March 19, 2024, 06:15:20 PM
Re: Success is a meaningless word without failure.

Even if many people fail countless times before they succeed, it does not give me the audacity to always pronounce failure as something everyone must actually passed through. Some people do actually succeed without having to fail in a particular thing. Taking cryptocurrency trading for instance, it doesn't mean that the moment he lost some money you have failed. We can call failure when you try making profits for several time and it did not happen and you eventually quit trading that will be when we say you have failed. But if you make some losses and on the long run you equally make some profits, it is not nice to say that you have failed many times. Someone is likely to fail if they do not follow the due process or they do not have a mentor. Failure is avoidable most time when you follow instructions and work within the limit of your understanding.

There are people that are good in demo accounts because they have no risk in there but if it's about the actuality, that's where they're losing more money. They have to understand that doing demo accounts are as is but if you do actual thing with real money, the game gets harder and changes your perspective all over what you've experienced. But it's also an eye opener that if it's the real thing, you have to adapt the changes that makes you see the real view of how trading and investing works.
Demo account is totally a different ball game from real account. When emotions comes to play, everything changes. It is safe to assume that demo accounts do not actually teach how to trade.
233  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are the Altcoins Going to Dip in Short Term? on: March 19, 2024, 05:58:03 PM
There are bound to be correction after sharp rise. That's what going on in the crypto market, bitcoin too is down to 65K from 70K and so are most altcoins.
But some altcoins are performing better and are increasing even in this correction phase. Every correction is a chance to accumulate cheap coins. As people buy and accumulate here, a support level is created which becomes for the next bull. Even though coins may seem to decreasing in short term, it is a preparation for even a larger bull in long term.
You have started it very nice and we all in this industry must have to understand that the movement of coins is just into ways; it is either going upwards or downwards at a time and it cannot go both sides at the same time. Also the market cannot continue to rise and rise forever without dropping. In the same vein the market cannot continue going down and down without rising. So when the market has risen so fast within a short period of time, it is safe that you should understand that the market will still need to cool down and correct to some certain extent. Bitcoin is correcting and so also will the altcoins do.
234  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is investment a necessity or a want? on: March 19, 2024, 05:46:51 PM
Some people get rich without investigating;
Some get rich by investing;
Interestingly some get rich by saving;
Some get rich by salary earning;
Some get rich by freelancing;
Some get rich by doing random jobs;
Food, shelter and clothing are the only necessary things;
Others are just want.
235  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin breaks 2021 ATH and hits $71k! on: March 19, 2024, 05:15:35 PM
People who have been diligently DCAing bitcoin for years are starting to profit, and what I see is that everyone wants to sell bitcoin when it hits $100k. But with the current situation, there are definitely a lot of people who are becoming more greedy and raising their goals higher. So what I fear is that many people will miss the opportunity to sell and even lose money. I hope people don't get caught up in the greedy vortex that the market is creating and wants us to get caught up in. We must always set goals and sell when we achieve them, don't be greedy otherwise we will have to pay a high price.
Many people will miss great opportunities. The industry is not an easy one. It is possible that we might not see 73k again. Very possible indeed and it is also possible that we can see 100k and even 150k. I just believe in your analogy and that is the great way to follow. Just set a goal, once the goal is accomplished, just go withdraw and go your way.

Those who started DCAing from the region of 20 and 30k and are consistent about it till now should be in good profits and taking profits at a new ATH would have been a great deal.
236  Economy / Speculation / Re: 100 Push-Ups A Day Until Bitcoin Is $100K Challenge on: March 19, 2024, 04:44:05 PM
Hi OG!
I once read this thread, my spirit is willing to join the challenge but my flesh is weak. I love to build my body and be physically fit, but the last time I was pushing up, I started from 10 till I got to 55 and got a muscle strain. It did cost some money and pain, so I was somewhat traumatized and lost interest in push ups. Maybe I will have to try another type of exercise or will anyone coach me on how to push without issues.

Now that BTC is gradually retrogressing, this just means more days of push ups...huu!
237  Other / Meta / Re: My Experience with Common Forum Errors Which I have Encountered on: March 19, 2024, 04:06:12 PM
One of the most frequent errors I encounter on the forum is this one below: An Error Has Occurred! You already submitted this post! You might have accidently double clicked, or tried to refresh.. Despite the error suggesting that I might have double-clicked or refreshed, I typically haven't done so deliberately. Instead, it seems to occur spontaneously, with the comment already posted by the time I check. This tends to happen frequently when replying to topics.

This second error, is my first time to encounter it. Database Error. Please try again. If you come back to this error screen, report the error to an administrator. I'm not particularly tech-savvy, so I'm unsure why this error occurred or what might have caused it. I'm hopeful that someone with more expertise can shed light on the issue.

I don't encounter these errors I see people complain in meta, or I am not bothered about them because I have so much believe in the forum. There are many things that happen, I'll simply refresh the page and continue and if it eventually persists (rarely does), I'll close my system and return later. I am of the opinion that new comers should be the ones asking these generic questions about the forum. Not criticizing Op, but just generalizing.
238  Economy / Reputation / Re: Anonymity of Bitcointalk forum members on: March 19, 2024, 03:25:16 PM
Since I registered as a member of this great forum, I discovered that almost every one in this Bitcointalk forum is Anonymous like each of our identity is hidden, age, location, country, and some other personal information.
Actually not everyone hides their identity in the forum. Some people have identified their gender, some people also do indicate their location (but rarely), we have known the age of some. Especially our 80+ user here. It is safe to say that bitcointalk values freedom. It is at your wish to expose or hide your info and as well as to browse with concealed IP or not

Does it mean that our activities here just ends within the forum and doesn't extend to real life? And how do we cope with performing transactions with one another even when our identities are not known and in a case of fraudulent activities, how can the culprits be held responsible or accountable?
You can hang out to the people in your locals, there's nothing wrong about that. Also, bitcointalk reputation system plays a good role here.
239  Economy / Economics / Re: Everything is over priced but people keep spending on: March 18, 2024, 10:03:36 PM
The cost of things has gone up so much so that it's glaring. Imagine paying 5-12$ for an average meal you could get before for 3$. The jump cost is extremely high. Cooking a meal at home can cost you the same amount you would spend on eating in a restaurant. Funny enough people still afford all these things without complaining. My anger is that we make money to spend it all into our normal life expenses. It's difficult now to save or invest unless you part of the rich people in society. An average man has to just eat, pay bills, and survive.
I had thought that it is only in my country that things went out of shape. It is so bad that people who could survive and also accomplish projects can no longer afford food. In my country, the prices of things has gone x5 within the space of 1 month. Many people can no longer afford eating in nice restaurants, whereas those restaurants are still filled by people.

This is the right time to plan very well and have multiple jobs doing to have multiple streams of income. The inflation seems global but the suffering is more in corrupt countries.
240  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Prepare Your Children For Bitcoin Investment and Not for Government Jobs. on: March 18, 2024, 08:37:55 PM
This means that we are forcing our children to do what we desire and not letting them choose the life they would like. I'd never see it wrong working for the government. Besides, while working we still can invest in Bitcoin.
In the scenario that OP painted, we do not actually know if the child will prefer bitcoin investment to government work or vice versa. So, it is safe not to assume anything. However, a child will grow up to love and cherish what is being practiced in his immediate environment.

Can we rely on our profit from investing in Bitcoin is enough for us to provide our needs? Not really especially for small investors. Therefore, I disagree with such an idea. Why don't suggest working on both OP because investing needs money which means that we need other sources of income to support our investment plan.
I support you much here. Bitcoin investment is not a job and neither will it stop someone from taking a job. It is passive investment. One can be a government worker and still invest in bitcoin. Why choose one if you can conveniently do the two.
