The very first post i read from matthew was about the magazine and i was impressed , i'm fairly new here, but when i came across some of his trolling i just couldn't fit into my mind how someone can be two different persons at the same time, i remember thinking "if these are the VIPs of bitcoin this thing is a joke then"

man you almost made me quit bitcoin, i hope you can keep it together and i hope the magazine succeeds for the good of bitcoin.

All the best to you matthew,

Carlos

Im just curious as anyone whats being done with them and how that could make them worth 160% PPS to the buyer.

You and me both, but if you of all people don't know then i just give up the search

I'm getting public work, but ~35% (!) rejects. Anyone else experiencing this?

One of my rigs with 1.7 GH/s running Phoenix 2 is getting 90-100% rejects, also tried phoenix 1.7.5 which got 100% rejects. On a rig with 235MH/s, phoenix 2.0 is running fine, but on newer drivers... Rig with 1.7GH/s is using 5870s/5970s, so if I update the driver I will lose a signifcant amount of MH/s. Also, I am not convinced this is driver related.

Have a rig with 1.5GH/s running DiabloMiner 11.12 drivers, which is getting an acceptable amount of rejects, but GPU usage is all over the board, jumping between 0 and 100% usage, and everywhere in between, in no particular order on all of my GPUs, this is resulting in about a 20% decrease in hashrate  Angry

Have a rig with 2.3GHs, using 7970's and DiabloMiner, which also has GPU usage problem, but much worse, resulting in about 50% decreased hashrate.

About a day ago, my rig with 1.5GH/s was working just fine offline, since public work resumed over the past however many hours, this problem started occurring.

I am curious why DiabloMiner, which is not listed as supported by GPUmax, works better than Phoenix 1.7.5 and 2, which are listed as compatible...

are you using BAMT? i had many issues with BAMT with phoenix and phoenix2 until i started using cgminer

but it looks like you have more experience building mining rigs than me so what do i know

i'm getting a bit of public work at 0.000042

mmm i think that even if we ask for 35uBTC per share the purchasing price per share is going to be 55uBTC (60 for priority) because is not the market (miners) that sets that price, gpumax does.

BTW i set my miners to 40uBTC, no leased shares

That makes me worry of scratching the bare die. I'd consider maybe a nylon spudger though .

silicon is 7 in the mohs hardness scale

steel varies according to its quality from 4 to 6.5

you'll have a hard time scratching it unless you actually hammer the die with the tool also there is going to be a paste between the scrapper and the die, although you may scratch it if you don't clean it first and there are sand particles present but that would happen with a nylon spudger too

My 5970 that has been running since June: 68.5C / 65.0C, 100% Fan, 830 / 280 and 825 / 280 at 1.05 volts.

My 5970 that has been running since this January: 54.5C / 51.0C, 90% Fan, 810 / 280 and 830 / 280 at 1.05 volts.

I want to get cgminer running with autofan and autogpu again, but phoenix was easier with BAMT.

man, don't be so lazy you just need to type 4 lines in BAMT.conf
It's more than that.  When I setup cgminer, the rig was really unstable.  Even with stock clocks.  Better to just use phoenix and have no more downtime,
that's odd, my experience is the opposite. Phoenix was utter crap for me giving me like 30% rejects, when i started using cgminer it all became stable

With BAMT that is.
229  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: 5970 mining thread on: March 26, 2012, 12:58:13 AM
3x5970

all configured the same, MH/s is +/- 2% between all three

bamt 0.5
cgminer 2.3.1f
clocks/mem 835/300
vddc 1.163
temps: 68-72C
MH/s 758

wonder whats you MHash/W with that amount of voltage

i've found it more efficient to even the TIM with a small scrapper like this one i use to evenly apply flux in reballing of BGA packages, they have a nice curvy shape that really helps you do the job, just apply a thin layer.

nothing on they grey bars? they really look good but i can't figure out what they mean. they seem to increase with hashrate

It's just a visual thing to go along with the hashrate.  They've been there since day 1.

i know, but they seem to be behaving differently after the cluster change, i also notice the change in fonts and some of the frames are different too
233  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BAMT version 0.5 - Easy USB based mining Linux with farm wide management tools on: March 25, 2012, 04:54:26 AM
I get 318-319 at 980mhz with phoenix2

how do i run phoenix 2? phoenix2: 1 in bamt.conf then configure phoenix2.conf file and it won't run

i have a doubts with the [cl:0:0] things for each device, should i keep going like [c:0:x] or [c:x:0]?

I feel like an idiot asking here, so if you find this annoying, please disregard my post.

But I've been looking for the command that helps me identify which gpu is which in BAMT Linux. I thought it was -atigpuidentify or something like that. Any helps would be great! Thanks!

aticonfig --list-adapters

dunno why you cant, but you dont need to get into amd overdrive ctl or ccc or any of that.

everything you need is right in the bamt.conf file.

edit it properly, restart mining.  that is all.

you should be getting 310 to 320 mhash with 5830.  it sounds like you did not set your overclocking in bamt.conf properly.  please double check it.

I agree. Now that it's hashing, I'm not really concerned with CCC or overdrive.
I didn't set any overclocking, because the guide said to run it at stock first.
What are the suggested (starting) OC settings for an XFX 5830 with reference cooler?
It's currently set at 300/800/980 in the conf file.
How do I know which profile is currently in use?

start with 880 core, stock volts. only remove the '#' for the core_speed_2 line, that is the profile active when mining

then move up from there to say 950, 980, 1000 my 5830s refuse to clock to 1000

My rigs are having a lot of trouble on this current run... anyone else have lots of stales and slow/no work?

i have a one vga card rig with no problems but my dedicated miners with 8 GPUs are having a lot of rejects, using backup pool now

After you boot BAMT for the first time and you're at the GUI, does it say anything in the top right of the screen under GPUs Detected: ?

Thanks for the quick reply!
Yeah, it does.
It says:
GPUs Detected:
0 01:00.0 ATI Radeon HD 5800 Series

Hang on...it's doing something now, but I still can't get into CCC or AMD Overdrive Ctrl
It appears to be hasing at around 247Mh/s, which seems awfully low.

you have to set core clock to 1000 for a 5830 to have 320MH/s, my 5830s are at 950 core 305MH/s
239  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BAMT version 0.5 - Easy USB based mining Linux with farm wide management tools on: March 25, 2012, 03:18:08 AM
Hi All,
Just started running BAMT for my first additional mining rig.
It will run headless out in my shop, once I get it up and running.
I have BAMT installed and configured, mostly.
The one thing it won't do is actually mine.
If I try to run the catalyst control center, I get an error saying that "No ATI graphics driver is installed..."
What causes this?
I'm running a HD 5830 card.
I've searched a bit, but can't find anything about that error.
It seems like BAMT is supposed to come with the drivers pre-installed?
Please help, I'm a total noob to linux and don't know where to start.

when you look at the desktop screen do you see your vga in the top right corner? if you don't go to root terminal (in the "start menu") type:
Quote
aticonfig --list-adapters
you should see it there, if you do everything is alright just go to bamt config (start menu) edit /etc/bamt/ pools follow the instruction and type your pool, then edit /etc/bamt bamt.conf read the instructions carefully and config your miner and GPUs, then go to bamt control-> restart mining sessions

Done

i guess it is up again, i can see some changes! what does the blue bars in the worker stats mean now?
