221  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoinocracy: If non-Core hard fork wins, major holders will sell BTC on: February 04, 2016, 01:21:29 PM
There is no way the limit of 21 million coins will be changed. Very few if any would want that. Possibly this could happen 50 to 100 years from now when the inflation rate is basically 0, but I don't see it happening any time soon at all.
222  Economy / Speculation / Re: We will be at 600+ again after all the FUD is cleared on: February 01, 2016, 02:51:21 PM
There will always be FUD...just more at certain times than others. Look at the stock market...everyone panicked when it finally started correcting just recently. After having been involved in BTC for over 2 years now, this is laughable. The average joe has no idea what volatility really is.

There is going to be plenty of FUD and volatility until we get much higher rates of adoption and maturity. A billionaire could step in and pump this thing to 5000 a coin easy and then sell.

This is why I recommend either be willing to hold long term, or be a very skilled day trader.

The block size issue is actually good. It would be a non-issue if adoption wasn't occurring.
223  Economy / Speculation / Re: It is Buy time! on: January 28, 2016, 06:40:21 PM
The best time to invest is always NOW as they say. And I guess it's applicable to bitcoin nowadays with the prices looming under $400. Unless there'll be further surprises in the horizon.

it's always the best itme to invest if you're aiming at the long term, so any value is ok, any range below 1k is cheap coins

instead if you're a pro day trade, then the thing is different, i would play the range, 350-450-500 for the time being

This has been my mindset for the past two years. Buy bitcoins whenever you have the spare cash to do so if you're in it for the long haul.
224  Economy / Speculation / Re: We will be at 600+ again after all the FUD is cleared on: January 28, 2016, 06:37:09 PM
We have confusion now amongst all the casual investors that don't understand the Classic nonsense, just like the XT fears crushed the price back in the day. After the Mike Hearn ragequit and ridiculous clueless people wanting a hard fork shut the hell up we will see a 600+ price again as Core devs deliver more and more improvements in the software. If idiots keep being idiotic we will still be stuck at a lower price for a longer while tho, because the situation scares investors, but im confident that we will have this solved by the halving.

True, but it gives the rest of us who are knowledgeable more time to buy cheaper coins.
225  Economy / Speculation / Re: $350 will be the bottom on: January 28, 2016, 01:17:04 PM
I could see a flash crash to low 300's, possibly upper 200's, once a solution to the block size problem is announced. People will panic sell for sure. I'm waiting for something like this to load up on coins.
226  Economy / Speculation / Re: $350 will be the bottom on: January 22, 2016, 08:58:51 PM
It will flash dump into the $200's if a 2MB hard fork occurs, but Bitcoin will be better off in the long run afterwards from it and see a huge pump/money making opportunity once fork is completed.

Definitely possible. Get some fiat ready. Could be the last chance ever for coins that cheap.
227  Economy / Speculation / Re: $350 will be the bottom on: January 22, 2016, 08:24:02 PM
I think it will hold its ground around there and make a gradual move up for the next 5-6 months, then it will start to spike around September-October.

Probably. Buy support was pretty strong there last Friday. If it breaks 350 I'll be buying several coins.
228  Economy / Speculation / Re: Dead Cat Bounce on: January 22, 2016, 02:56:33 PM
we can not really talk about dead cat bounce after a fake dump driven by a statement and some coins dumped because of thief

as i see it this is a double correction of the price waiting for stabilize again at a precise value

What thief dumping coins? Coins stolen from cryptsy?
229  Economy / Speculation / Re: Sell now in bubble? on: January 20, 2016, 02:39:18 PM
i don't consider the price going up $25 in a short time to be a bubble. if it went up to $800-$900 right now after sitting under $400 just a few hours back, then it would be completely different. right now the price is recovering to its normal price level. it was about to happen and many people were expecting it to happen within this month, and it did.

It happened very sudden though

The price flash crashed 60 dollars last Friday. This was a recovery/correction.

A bubble is what happened the first week of november...approximately 250 spiking to 500.

...
How is bitcoin a binary option?

The price can become any number...many more than 2 choices.

G-unit, do you trade? do you understand what options are? Do you know anything at all about trading? Do your parents trust you with money?

It's not that your question is stupid, it's malformed, along the lines of "How is pigs a 7."

Actually I don't trade. I just buy and hold and have been doing this for years. Never panic sold. Hence, why I'm way up on my investment.

Anyway, I'm sorry about your misfortune.

... With upcoming halving and large new user's bitcoin adoption ...

*cough*
“To ensure compliance with the new regulatory regime, protect affiliate service providers, and most importantly – protect our valued customers in Russia – Bitstamp has decided to temporarily block access to its website from Russian IP addresses until we can assess the situation with more clarity.”

Temporary! Where have I heard that one before? Oh, that's right, GOX. And Cryptsy Angry Just like Bitcoin's current predicament is only 'temporary.'

You guys actually believe Chocula?

This has got to be trolling at it's finest. If he bought at 230 in June, and sold at the worst point (slightly less than 200 in August), he wouldn't have lost much money at all.

I don't get it.

Binary options.

233  Economy / Speculation / Re: Hard fork and price - beside the panic on: January 18, 2016, 02:32:08 PM
I think the hard fork will not bring too much problems as the current mess is the result of NOT having a solid forking plan yet.

People are waiting for a solution, even if that means hard forking.

Exactly. If nothing is done, and transaction volume gets too high, and the network starts dropping transactions, THEN people will really panic and lose faith. An increase in block size is inevitable if bitcoin is to continue to grow. Most know this. I saw somewhere that 72% of the 75% required for bitcoin classic (2MB blocks) are on board already.
234  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price after Cryptsy event on: January 15, 2016, 02:35:42 PM
What's the rationale of bitcoin price dropping after one of these events? If I'm a bitcoin holder, why would I sell after an exchange has been hacked? I guess it's only speculative, i.e. I assume other people will sell (because they will think the same as me) so I will sell.

I think it's a chain reaction. A small portion of people panic and sell. This then creates more panic among others and they sell. It's a domino effect.
235  Economy / Speculation / Re: 400 will not hold on: January 15, 2016, 01:22:28 PM
Since when has the price ever increased in a linear fashion without corrections? It's still a bull market. Learn how markets work.
236  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: what happens to Bitcoin if internet goes down? on: December 17, 2015, 06:01:58 PM
Bitcoin is like the internet, it is not just one thing.  in order for the internet to go down, you would need 99% of the computers in the world to go down.  There will always be an internet up and even if the internet went down, it would pop back up for all the internet consists of is a bunch of computers grouped together to share and exchange information.

This is what I thought, but just wanted to make sure. A bunch of people in real life were trying to freak me out.

What if the internet goes down temporarily? What would happen to BTC?

See the article about ISIS possibly trying to take down the internet.

238  Economy / Speculation / Re: You guys, are all fucked! on: December 03, 2015, 03:50:16 PM
Great news! I'll get some fiat ready Smiley.
239  Economy / Speculation / Re: If we hold 300... on: November 16, 2015, 01:32:54 PM
I don't think the price will be back below $300 but it is on that way i think it should be stopped by big exchanges (pumping) but anything above 300 is good at the moment.

i think the $300 price level will hold. if it doesn't hold then we are sadly going to around $270-$280 levels. only time will what will happen the comming weeks.

We'll see. We already cracked 300 recently and the price shot back up to 320 shortly after. If we break 300 and stay under for more than a day or 2 that's when it's more cause for concern.

Regardless, if we fall to even $275, there's going to be a lot of buying I think. I for one plan to buy a handful of coins if we go below $275.
240  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: FBI Agent Threatens to Kill Silk Road Architect, Ulbricht’s Family for Bitcoin ! on: November 16, 2015, 01:13:08 PM
The thing I'm still wondering is how did this wallet with 300k bitcoins only get noticed by this one FBI agent during the SR investigation?

Assuming this is true and that it really exists, does the fact that it's encrypted make it invisible to everyone else? The largest wallet I've seen online supposedly is 150k bitcoins.

Was Ross' 144k bitcoin wallet not encrypted? Was the 300k one the true safe haven? If so why would he have so many in his 144k wallet that could easily be discovered.

I'm still skeptical of the whole thing between this and VJ being in prison during the running of SR.
