The whole world will have a bigger problems than BTC
^Exactly this. given the cayos* happening in the world i wouldn't be surprised of nuclear war and in this case i would expect internet disruption question is what happens to Bitcoin if internet goes down?
home internet and mobile internet goes down
do not mean trade bitcoin to buy/sell i mean using it as a way of payment say you wanted to send money to someone abroad for family far away
First of all it's * Chaos not cayos. And if a nuclear war happens, it will change everything, most of the humanity will die and rest have to figure out firstly how to survive because there wouldn't be anything left to buy, it will destroy everything, you'll have to search for food, water and shelter.

Internet can't go down that easily with simple attack or accident. The only reasons I can think of that can cause WHOLE network to fail are: 1. EMP attack of a large scale (and that won't affect whole internet, but can affect whole country) 2. Solar Flare Effect - the most dangerous catastrophe which can happen to us (this will however turn off ALL electricity on planet Earth down). So with with internet down I would be worried more about my life than anything else as crisis preceding this event will most likely be huge.

If interent stops then many important things in our life will be stopped too, no websites no social media and people will have other problems, but for our community the main will be bitcoin, it will not be destroyed but will be useless.

We'll hook up an optic fibre network that goes across the world, so we don't need internet to transfer our monies <3
In truth, bitcoin would crash, as there would be no network for bitcoin to be based on. If something like what I stated above happened, it would take just to long. And by the time it is rolled out, the world would have moved on.
So let's hope that the internet doesn't crash, eh?

Ì think if internet goes down, all of the people of the world would just panic, because there facebok, instagram, tweeter, skype and other social network. They can't connect people will just scream that is not working. Bitcoin will just sit there and wait until internet come.

Since there will be no cash in the future, this is not really a problem. All competing currencies would suffer from the same disadvantages if internet goes down because in 20 to 30 years all payments will be digital and online.

I think internet is as far as, you can't really turn off the internet without turning off the electricity. Since pretty much every place is connected somehow.

All the internet is are a bunch of connected computers, so what is preventing the largest mining operation (in regards to hashrate) from mining all the coins and requiring that every Bitcoin client that reconnects to the network after the internet comes back online from following the largest miner who had the largest hash rate??? Barring a hard fork to correct it, of course.

I'm sorry man, but what in the actual fuck are you talking about??Of course if the internet goes down, Bitcoin transactions will be "slow"... not only that, non existent. The second thing is that Bitcoin is not even close to the price of gold as of right now; it is probably over 2X the amount per "unit" it sells for. Next, you automatically assume, (for some reason that I can't wrap my head around) that the internet is destined to go down for some reason. Don't you realize that this is a very unpredictable/not very likely thing to occur? If someone in high power were to start shutting down the internet, and mind, you can't just shut down the WHOLE internet to shut down upon command. You know, it's funny, because last night I was watching the Republican debates last night and Donald Trump was saying that he would essentially shut down ISIS's internet, which is hilarious because there is no way to shut down someone's internet entirely. Coming from a stand point where he thinks that the "internet" is nationally "regioned" in a way is quite hilarious to me and further continues my counter arguments towards Trump supporters. *Sorry for the irrelevance toward people outside the US... just seems to relate to the topic here*.

It is hard that internet go down. Because is something which is entering in every cell of our life. And if want to be killed in some part or in to many parts can reborn in the remaining ones. Then with the application of the peer to peer technology on its structure, is hoped that internet become much more (if not all) decentralized. If this will become true it will be almost impossible to kill it. Every part will become independent and to kill internet must be killed every computer. Very hard thing to became true. But if it will be true a similar thing like the situation mentioned in the main post, bitcoin will remain there where was the last moment before the destruction. Then, if in the future, in the new internet, will be possible to be recovered that part when the bitcoin was, that bitcoin can be used again. Like nothing was happen. If not will be lost forever.

Bitcoin is like the internet, it is not just one thing. in order for the internet to go down, you would need 99% of the computers in the world to go down. There will always be an internet up and even if the internet went down, it would pop back up for all the internet consists of is a bunch of computers grouped together to share and exchange information.
