221  Economy / Services / Re: i need a reliable escrow on: August 09, 2015, 06:40:07 PM
Try checking out this list of trusted escrow providers. Pick one who you can trust (and if it's urgent see if they're online as well) and then take it from there. The list is fairly up to date so everyone on there should still be providing escrow services.
222  Economy / Lending / Re: Requesting 0.08BTC Loan on: August 09, 2015, 04:51:01 AM
I don't have many virtual items to my name that I could use. What besides crypto currencies, miners and BCT accounts can I use?
Are things like verified PayPal accounts accepted?
PayPal accounts would have the same problem that a Steam account would - you could claim it was hacked and then PayPal would return the account to you. If you don't have any of the items you mentioned above, then I can't really think of any other digital goods you could offer as collateral. You could try using a physical item as collateral, but after shipping, and for a short term loan, physical collateral probably wouldn't make sense.

You might be lucky though and have someone offer you a loan, but that rarely happens without collateral and with a new user. You'd be better off seeing if you can offer any services for bitcoin here on the forum. If you have a valuable skill, you could make that needed 0.08 BTC that way instead.

BTW creating alt accounts has some limitations now! Under the same IP we can only create one free account and have to pay for the second one.
I hadn't heard that before. I know that if an account is created over Tor, or a public VPN service then often users will have to pay a small amount to unlock their account for posting. I believe IP's are only charged if they're a Tor exit, public VPN, or their have been bans on that IP before.
224  Other / Meta / Re: We should ban ManyProofs on: August 09, 2015, 03:24:46 AM
About the poll, the results are 6:3 for banning him. Moderators should consider this whrn deciding to ban him or not.
Often times polls aren't considered accurate representations of what the community actually thinks. It's very easy to create a ton of alts just to swing a vote a certain way, which is why most votes here are taken with a grain of salt, and action doesn't often come from poll results.

However I do think there's a problem with ManyProofs and all the "pro lender" requests that the section has been getting recently. Valid loan requests are being hidden under all these spam loan requests, which basically defeats the point of the section.
225  Economy / Lending / Re: Requesting 0.08BTC Loan on: August 09, 2015, 01:41:56 AM
not that it has no value at all, it has value to someone who may want or need it. disposing those kind of collateral may take time, so taking that as a collateral is more of a risk to the lender, risk of having a hard time selling it.
You will never find someone willing to pay 0.08 BTC for a newbie account with 10 activity. Why spend that much on an account when you can make a new account, post ten posts and then you'd have the same thing? I'd even argue to say that it would be impossible to sell an account like this, you probably wouldn't even get 0.003 BTC for a newbie account like this.

im talking about the steam account not the newbie account
Even that though, like I mentioned above (not saying that the OP will do this, but it can happen) the OP could just claim that his Steam account was hacked, and receive it back. The loaner would be SOL then, and would have no real proof that he was the rightful owner of the account.

Sorry this is my only account. I'm guessing it has no value though.
No, your account doesn't really have any real value. Plus, Steam accounts aren't considered "valid collateral" because you could always claim your account was hacked and get it back from the loaner. So if you don't have anything you can offer as collateral you might as well lock this thread because I doubt anyone will lend you.

That signature checks out. I think now you have to just wait until theymos or BadBear sees this message and gets around to changing the email on record for your account. If nothing happens in a few days, then bump this thread up or approach one of them via email and they should help you.
229  Other / Meta / Re: TIL Activity does not work on precisely 2 week intervals + interval timings on: August 08, 2015, 01:40:56 AM

You'll become Legendary somewhere between 775 and 1030 activity. The staff doesn't decide when you should become Legendary, rather it's a random activity level in that range that's randomly generated when you register on the site.

Nice info, thanks. (I'll be happy in a few weeks when I finally achieve hero! Wink

Edit - I think(?)
Correct, you'll be upgraded to Hero rank when you reach 480 activity. So for you that should be at the next activity interval which would be on the 18th.
230  Other / Meta / Re: TIL Activity does not work on precisely 2 week intervals + interval timings on: August 07, 2015, 10:48:19 PM
My only question is , not exactly on topic to the interval of activity , but closely related,

When am I and a few friends who I think deserve it going to be promoted to Legendary ??

I feel I have proved myself with many many things and deserve that right now.

You want more women in bitcoin - well I am one

231  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcointalk Account price estimator on: August 07, 2015, 07:55:26 PM
So I am a little stuck with a small issue of ip bans. Bitcointalk will ban my server's ip if it makes too many requests at once.

I think you should use user side to query the forum, so the service can be made available to more than one user at the same time. If you query the forum server side, you will need to change server IP if your IP gets banned for some reason.
I think he tried that option out, but it didn't work out as planned. See here:

  • Doing the requests browser side (doesn't work due to same-origin policy)
232  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcointalk Account price estimator on: August 07, 2015, 03:54:59 PM
I'm actually going to put some ads on it so that it will be free for everyone to use while I can still make some Bitcoin off of it. It is just like paying a few Satoshis to have the ads up while not having to go through the hassle of sending them.
That's a good idea - be sure to add a donation address to your site as well!

Have you figured out how you'll deal with the one request per second rule yet, and any ETA on when the site would be made public?
I'm going to use a queuing system and limit requests to once every 5 minutes. The site should be public by August 10th.
Cool, I'll be sure to watch this topic then. Although I don't trade accounts at all or anything like that I'll be interested to see the site.

235  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: I need help with mining rig please please guys. Im still having the same issue on: August 06, 2015, 07:16:52 PM
Are you sure you have your miner's ip address correct? You can use the program Advanced IP Scanner to scan for all devices on your network.
I'm guessing it would either be an incorrect IP like swilla mentioned, or that the router is on a different subnet than the Antminer is. If swilla's solution doesn't work, I'd recommend following this guide and seeing if that fixes your issue. I had to follow it since my subnet is 172.16.x.xxx compared to the Antminer's default of 192.168.x.xxx, but it solved the problems I was having.
236  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Restoring Trezor seed with Electrum Windows crashes on: August 06, 2015, 07:04:17 PM
What version of Electrum are you using? I've heard that some versions are quite buggy with the Trezor so if you're running an older version I'd suggest updating to 2.3.2 and seeing if that helps at all.

I actually use the lastest version Sad
In that case I'd suggest to try and reinstall Electrum. I just tested restoring a Trezor seed through Electrum on Windows, and had no issues in doing so. If that doesn't work, try using an older version of Electrum and hopefully that will solve the problem you've been having.

Don't think they'll accept you with that negative trust, plus the campaign is closing down next Tuesday. You're probably better off looking for a campaign that accepts negative trust members.
238  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcointalk Account price estimator on: August 06, 2015, 02:10:43 AM
One idea to get around that rule would to be by going through one of the Bitcointalk mirrors. However, most of the mirrors are probably phishing sites so I'm not sure if you'd want to go that route, but it would possibly be a solution because they are exact mirrors, and if the site was requesting more than one page per second, it would be their problem rather than yours.

Another idea would be to contact the person who manages the Bit-x signature campaign bot - I believe his name is Bitcoin_BOy$. I suspect that often times his bot would be requesting more than one page per second, but it's been running for months so he must have some way to bypass the one page per second rule.

If you don't want to take either of those routes, the queue idea sounds like the best proposed method, if you don't hear back from theymos on your question.
239  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcointalk Account price estimator on: August 05, 2015, 06:34:21 PM
Very nice project indeed.
Since coding is out of my league, How do I use your code ? How's worth my account ?
how can I measure the exact result to determine " execellent" , "good" , etc ?
By quality ? By quantity ?
I estimate that your account is worth about 0.31 BTC, according to knightdk's algorithm. That's probably a little above current market prices for Senior accounts though.

As for post quality, I'd rate your's as fair. I'd consider an excellent post quality to be from someone who often answers technical questions, and gives thorough, accurate responses. I'd probably rate my own post quality as good, just as an example. It's definitely more quality based than quantity.
240  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcointalk Account price estimator on: August 05, 2015, 02:10:14 PM
@ColderthanIce I already test your new script but, looks like still buggy Huh because when i set with my recent account spesification, the result is my account worth as 0.15 BTC Shocked
BTW good try!
What are you inputting as your potential activity? I just calculated your account value manually (according to the OP's algorithm) and I received a similar account value, using an activity of 210, 0 potential activity, good post quality and neutral trust.
