Please dont reply by informing us how many boards you would think about ordering! Just re-post the draft after editing it and adding your order!

EVERYONE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ADDING HIS ORDER TO THE DRAFT!
IF YOU DONT ADD YOUR ORDER TO THE DRAFT ITS NOT GONNA BE COUNTED!

The ROI is very hard to estimate but at $469 it looks very attractive to me. The only problem for me is avoiding getting scammed, so if we can resolve the trust issue somehow and if we can get it done quickly, I'll buy 10.

Same here. I need to know details on payment and shipping. If it is low risk, then I'm in for 10.

Don't worry, we will manage to make it 100% safe and secure. I am getting in contact with ngzhang. Already asked him to accept the payments directly from us on a certain date "probably we will decide the date as soon as we reach 30 boards"!

So my plan is more like "no third party at all" as we all trust Zhang! But we have to manage it in a way that wouldn't take much of his time and effort!
224  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Icarus bulk orders. Who's interested? on: March 22, 2012, 10:18:08 PM
I am thinking hard about 10 boards but the ROI is so much worse than BFL Single  Roll Eyes.  Trying to run the numbers with sensitivity analysis to when they get delivered.

Will advise ASAP.

USA - Chicago area...

My advice to you would be simply "DIVIDE by 3" 2 for Icarus and 1 for BFL!

WHY?

BFL singles can not be used for anything other than Bitcoin and SHA256 where Icarus can be used as a DEV board! So investing more in Icarus would kinda reduce the risk of losing everything in case Bitcoin price dramatically fall down!

If anyone is interested in joining our bulk order to get Icarus for a discounted price "469$", please join us here:

Everyone is responsible for editing the draft to add his order then repost the whole draft to the thread! It doesn't matter now where you are located! all countries are welcome! We would get to this point later when we cross at least a total amount of 30 boards confirmed 100%.
228  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The best selling FPGA board on: March 22, 2012, 01:48:35 PM
Icarus is the best! For few simple valuable reasons:

1- It can be used as a dev board not just for mining!
2- ONLY ~20 Watts
3- The price "569$" is considered to be the lowest price as it comes fully equipped with fan/heat sink/power adapter/usb cable!
4- Zhang is always in time!

Thank you Zhang for developing such impressive boards "ICARUS" we are looking forward for your new design "Lancelot"!

I am in!

Will order at least 6 boards, am in Belarus. Can someone please calculate the total number of boards we've reached up till now?

So when are you planning to start offering the bitstream for Icarus boards? how much it will cost? and what are the procedures? We really have to send the boards to you? This actually would be imposible for me as am not in USA!
232  Other / Off-topic / Re: Butterfly Labs - Bitforce Single and Rig Box on: March 20, 2012, 09:39:56 PM
But they sold those 30 units for $17,970

A wise man once said, "profit matters and revenue means nothing". So how much of that is profit? 20% would be $3594.

Even if they kept them for a week, they'd only make $550

And if they kept them for 4-6 weeks, they'd make an additional $3300 in profit. They just doubled their profit. Who doesn't like to double their profits?

+1 Wink

Really, the BTC mined during testing amounts to a drop in the bucket compared to what they are selling these things for.  No, I do not think they are purposefully keeping them on hand longer than necessary for testing purposes.  They want to get them out the door so they can get more orders in.

It wouldn't really make sense for BFL not to test them by mining for their own profit. I don't believe that rotating through stock, say keeping 30 singles running at a time would be negligible.

30*(832 Mhash/s) = 24.96 Ghash/s

At current difficulty (1498294) with an exchange of $4.7 per BTC (about what it is at time of posting), that would be a little over $550 per a week for them.

Seems like a decent amount of money while further ensuring that the product works.

Well, it is not only "30*(832 Mhash/s) = 24.96 Ghash/s" it is more like "300*(832 Mhash/s) = 249.600 Ghash/s" ~ 6000k profit per week! And as long as for every single getting out of their lab a couple of singles are getting in, so they are mining 24/7 and their hash rate is always getting higher!

And please BFL don't reply by saying "we do test for only 12 hours", all you have to do is to stop the 4 to 6 weeks delay "that ends up being more than 10 weeks".

I totally agree with you catfish! You can count me in such club! But before all Dr Tyrell should inform us whether he is willing to sell his bitstream to us or not!

And in case he is not! We may then fund the open-source project to speed up its development!
235  Other / Off-topic / Re: Butterfly Labs - Bitforce Single and Rig Box on: March 19, 2012, 03:27:38 AM
Does anyone know why it takes them so long to get these orders processed? I mean unless it's one guy hand soldering everything it should go a bit faster, right?

The only thing I can think of is probably their real profit is in mining! for that they have to keep your ordered devices for a couple of months mining in their lab!

to produce some butter before it flies

Now I have to wait for eldentyrell to make progress to decide where my money goes next....

Send your money to the board-makers.  The more boards you have, the more money you stand to gain from the release of my design and therefore (hopefully) the more you will be willing to contribute.

Stay tuned on progress (I screwed up last night's build).

Are you planning to release Algorithmic bitstream for Icarus soon? I would like to be the first to donate for such bitstream!

no, you will not. i will the first!  Grin

Sorry Zhang, I will be the first!
Eldentyrell please send me your Bitcoin address, I will contribute today.
Falling over themselves to give you monies! Grin

I highly respect his work! been following his project progress for the last couple of months! I wish it will be 100% open source so we would learn from his FPGA optimization techniques "not just for mining!".
