221  Economy / Securities / Re: Kraken Fund (closed to new accounts) on: September 14, 2012, 01:46:54 AM
Since close to 5k of the funds are directly in pirate, how will this effect the profits if Pirate will not pay back?

That is incorrect.

In any event, there are steps to recover funds from BS&T.
The market is only valuing BS&T debt at ~3% of face value, so Kraken is essentially carrying a large amount of unrealized losses.

Patrick guarantees Kraken investors face value.

+1, patrick will take the hit himself if pirate takes us all to the cleaners.

Thanks - that's one of my 2 questions answered (that you'drelease the information you have).

The second one was whether you actually HAVE information that reliably identifies those to whom the funds are passed-through.

At one extreme you could be sending funds to someone who you only know as a nick on irc.
At the other you could be passing through to individuals or a company whose identity you know with 100% certainty.

Put simply: how confident (as a %) are you that you are able to identify the name(s) and addresses of those to whom the funds are passed?  Again - not asking for those names/addressess - it wouldn't make sense for you to release them now.

I'm fairly confident with the information I have. As I said, I'm not sure what can be done with it in the event of a default, but unless this is all an elaborate ruse it should not be a problem.

I would only release the information in the event of default, and only to verified bondholders/trusted forum members, as the threats of violence & witch hunting currently going on have no place in business transactions.

you should report the threats of violence to theymos, there is a line and it seems its been crossed.

As an example, I have 1000 coins with HashKing that I don't worry about,
Yeah, Patrick seems to be an honest fool. When he wises up, he'll still be trustworthy. Hopefully, it only took one lesson.

I think you are giving him too much credit. His other actions strongly suggest that he knows fully well the likely consequences. His posting tactics (including those of his wife -- sorry, it's true) seem to go a bit too far for him to be just an "honest fool."

Let's see how moderate your language would be when your dearly beloved is being trolled FOR NO REASON! He has never behaved less than impeccably in his business here yet since Pirate's gone he's the next easy target.

I have as much right as you to be here but I get called ''shill'' (whatever that means) etc. I guess I make an easy target.

keep at it mrs. harnett, your husband has my respect and a few others, don't let these forum trolls get to you.

Well then sue me.  Lets see what a court will say about bitcoin.  I will just file for a bk and I'm done.

Please post your real name and address, to assist the process server.

Many people here would like to find out what a court says about bitcoin.

Agreed.

fyi, threatening court action won't get your coins back any faster, actually it will take longer, trust me Smiley
225  Economy / Securities / Re: Kraken Fund (closed to new accounts) on: September 13, 2012, 02:06:31 AM
Skype doesn't cut it. If he did run, would be you have any legal means to get your money back? Are you sure?

I probably don't, but here's the thing, anything bitcoins for me is a high risk investment. I never invested anything more than I could accept as a loss.
I would really rather me and him work out any problems we have as I'm a reasonable guy, if there is a serious problem we can work around it, however if he does run I have the ability to write it off as a loss.
226  Economy / Lending / Re: Seeking $2100 Loan (In BTC) - 12 month term, possibly less. on: September 13, 2012, 02:02:13 AM
Bump is anyone else interested?
Would anyone else make up or contribute to the missing $1100 at the same deal as Eisenhower @ 5%/mo ?

if he gets a greenlight from patrick, I could pick up the slack.
227  Economy / Securities / Re: Kraken Fund (closed to new accounts) on: September 12, 2012, 11:55:51 PM
Look, bitcoins are already up 170% YTD. And you are so greedy that you are willing to lend them to some dude on the internet for some fictional returns? The price appreciation of bitcoin is due to market forces-- there is a real demand for them. These schemes are nothing but a bunch of hot air from an anonymous person (remember when pirate was saying "oh look everyone knows who I am this can't be a scam!").

Nobody looks like a scammer until they run with your money. And no, it is not possible to have an anonymous lending economy without legally enforced property rights. That's not what bitcoin is for.

if patrick runs with my money, I will eat my shoes, I have him on skype and talk to him every night about how things are progressing, and the weekly newsletters he gives out to kraken members is quite informative on how his business is working out.

looks like more selling since my earlier post, but not quite as low. If nothing else people are gun shy about possible ponzi schemes.  Maybe Obsi will see the point in sharing some of the details of his business, but no telling what will happen when.

Disclaimer: while I have sold my few shares (at a reasonable and profitable price, not in panic), I have no reason to accuse Obsi of running a ponzi operator, I just want to be careful. My loss if he's on the up and up.

you know, if you asked him, he would tell you exactly what he does, he told me.
229  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: Hashkings Lending,Deposit 1.25% INSURED, ALL PPT ACCOUNTS CLOSING ON 8/19 on: September 11, 2012, 03:20:41 PM
^ No. It seems hashking is just paying back random people with small-ish balances. At least this is what it looks like from reading his statements. He's not willing to lay out his plan, apparently, so it's hard to figure out who actually gets paid out.

exactly like pirate..

to be fair, I was the first person to ever invest with hashking on these forums, so that could potentially be one of the reasons why.
230  Economy / Long-term offers / Re: Hashkings Lending,Deposit 1.25% INSURED, ALL PPT ACCOUNTS CLOSING ON 8/19 on: September 11, 2012, 10:45:31 AM
I asked for my principal back on a 8 week deposit from hashking, I recieved it this morning, 50 btc principal with 10 BTC forfeit.

If only there was a Bitcoin Central Bank that could print some more bitcoins to socialize our losses.

and so the cycle continues.

232  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin a scam? on: September 07, 2012, 09:30:13 PM
Downvote this guy's answer (top answer from Adam Cohen) if you dont think so:

http://www.quora.com/Bitcoin/Is-the-cryptocurrency-Bitcoin-a-good-idea

People are using this douchebags answer as the "definitive" answer on the future of bitcoin when the topic comes up (see the CNN discussion yesterday)...

well the thing is, as a currency, hes right, bitcoins are not currency, they are commodities.

however that does not mean that they are anything even remotely related to a scam in its entirety.
233  Economy / Lending / Re: Incredibly high rate of return on real-world investment opportunity on: September 07, 2012, 07:06:50 PM
well colour me interested, if you somehow persuade nefario to allow it I'd be more than interested in supporting your operation, as long as US politics don't get involved.
234  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Fastest and cheapest method to withdraw GBP to UK from MtGox IBAN or SWIFT/BIC?? on: September 07, 2012, 05:54:38 PM
hey phantom, when are you guys going to go into liquidation for bitcoinica? the BFRI are waiting.

When there is news of what is happening/will happen it will be posted to bitcoinica.com

you and I both know thats bullshit.
235  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Fastest and cheapest method to withdraw GBP to UK from MtGox IBAN or SWIFT/BIC?? on: September 07, 2012, 05:37:43 PM
www.bitstamp.net But use their International wire transfer option as using the SEPA option will make you go from USD > EUR > GBP and you loose a fair chunk from the currency conversions (this would be ok for small amounts and it is very fast).

MTGOX will only allow you to withdraw GBP via International wire transfer and according to their support guys takes 7 working days to complete.

You can do the same thing at Intersango without the USD -> EUR conversion.

hey phantom, when are you guys going to go into liquidation for bitcoinica? the BFRI are waiting.
236  Economy / Goods / Re: NEFT Vodka and Bitcoin on: September 07, 2012, 05:15:02 PM
By the way, this isn't just a flashy brand. The vodka itself is excellent - it is my favorite, even without the Bitcoin connection. I have four barrels in my freezer.

is it better than russian standard or skyy? both are the only decent vodkas that I've ever had.
237  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: new romney/bitcoin news on: September 07, 2012, 12:47:03 PM

238  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Bitcoin crowdfunding - a small project needs support on: September 07, 2012, 11:53:02 AM
so let me get this straight, you're asking for essentially donations for your kickstarter clone? I don't get it? What makes your system better than kickstarter and why would I want to send you my money?

+1, we need some more james bond level publicity stunts, like at least 5 more.
