Capitulation is GOOD guys! Think about it from the market makers perspective. Assume you are the MM, do you want me to make money? No, because when I make money that is profit that you, the MM, didn't get and the whole purpose of being an MM is to maximize profit. Therefore, you need to manipulate the market into conditions that will fuck with the other traders mind to make them want to dump their bags and an MM can accomplish this in two ways. One way is to wait. Wait for a long time and over that course of time weaker hands will drop out. The other choice is to manipulate the market, which is what I believe we are seeing right now. However Vert is in a special spot right now because we are still hovering around the ATL. The MM knows he cant shake us out by bring the price down because most of us got in at a price that if he brought it to 1 sat then we would still hold. So, if the MM cant bring the price lower how can he get more coins? Well what they are doing now is propping up price a little bit and trying to force you into taking a small profit as opposed to sticking in for the big run. A half ass-ed pump is the only way he can get us to capitulate out of frustration with VTC. This is why we are seeing this price action this past week IMO. The big run feels like it is right around the corner and I hope we can all outlast this MM and celebrate at 200k  True, but consider another option too: New money, coming from recent profits from other coins, or coming from outside crypto, is entering VTC in a hurry, by market buying large orders. The MM, who doesn't want to pump yet, is trying by all means to keep the price low, expecting people to join in other pumps and sell their VTC. What will happen is that if this new money keeps coming, the MM will be "forced" to pump or at least stop selling, cause if not he will lose his power at actual prices, and I'm sure he doesn't want that. I'm saying this cause in the last two weeks, I've bought 114.5 BTC in VTC, and I'm seeing that MM is getting nervous, cause I'm not the only one who's buying VTC in a large way.  This is also very true. I didn't consider the fact that MM might be running multiple markets, and pumping other coins is another great way to try and shake out folks, especially the new money. After researching ETH some more , they're going POS sometime soon , so that mining power is going to have to go somewhere May I ask what yourr are insinuating? Are you expecting that mining power to move to vert? Not necessarily all of it , but it would be nice . Used GPU's don't bring in big bucks and it hasn't been long enough for a lot of people to ROI |

Why never? If a coin is popular enough they'll make an asic for it . I'm not saying it's good for the coin . Look at litecoin , it was super popular until asics hit .Vertcoin had asics when it was scrypt n ...well for a couple weeks until we forked. There'll be no asics because ETH is going proof of stake in approx six months. So no time. Anyway, the eth founders have said that if one is developed they will tweak the algorithim. Several active devs . Wallet is being updated and still ASIC resistant Can someone explain why ASIC Resistance is so important? I get the concept but why all of a sudden is this significant. The idea is that you don't need a lot of money to mine . Anyone who has a gpu can mine ( which is any gamer , or most people with a computer ) Asic's are specialized computer with one purpose ( to mine a specific algo) , they are expensive and can only be used for that purpose. Only a few companies make asics , so coins that use asics are at the mercy of said companies to make asics and better asics every so often .The main problem is that some, if not all asic companies build asics and use them until they pay for them selves and then sell them to the consumer when it's very hard to make ROI on them . |

Small update:  I might look into helping out with the wallet upgrade, but I will be mainly focusing on making my own coin. It will have features that some of you may find very useful. Unfortunately my idea will require a major overhaul of the core codes and I think it would be best if I fork Vertcoin with the new features added in. The features I want to add will change how the blocks are stored and the contents of the blocks. In the meantime, I will be adding more features to the UI and will test it thoroughly. Hopefully I can get it ready before my school starts. I'd be starting my third year in Computer Engineering soon. PM me on reddit, we can add you to our vertcoin slack. We are all open to ideas. Lets see what we can do. It might be better to fork or work on an existing coin (vertcoin) that has some footing rather than start a new coin. |

A little bit of progress... Lots of placeholders. The wallet balance is real and updated every 10 seconds. Network hash, difficulty, etc., are all updated every 10 seconds. I figured it'd be nice to have info like that on a wallet. Adding exchange rates soon.  Once I finish the wallet UI, I will make a great coin with my original ideas  Instead of developing a new coin why don't you help with vertcoin development. We need core wallet devs, and you seem to be able to help with that. |

Fyi . We currently have 2 devs and a couple that help out when they can, and we are always looking for more . We are focusing on long term support right now which involves keeping the wallets and software up to date . People have lives and get busy , we don't get paid for this . We are working on setting the vertcoin foundation to add some legitimacy to all this, and maybe one day we can actually pay the people who spend their time supporting and developing this coin . Long term support seems like the best bet right . You might be disappointed in the lack of development, but we are still here and vertcoin continues to be one of the most profitable gpu minable coins . The same cannot be said for newer coins that gain huge followings and then quickly fade out . Dash uses a % deduction from the block rewards to fund development, which may be a direction to consider to fund future development. I not sure, how they coded it into their network. i got into vertcoin this week with a gtx 1070, running about 39.5MH  felt it may be a better investment play than the RX480. both make similar returns now, but the ethereum difficulty has been rocketing and the currency has had its contract application usability brought into question Ethereum is like a super fit model that wants to sleep with you, but you know they have herpes. Do you want to take a chance ? Vertcoin is more mining profitable from other coins
This is true. But Ethereum mining is 10 times more profitable than even VTC at the moment. All my 64-bit rigs are switched to it at the moment. I'm mining VTC on the only one that is 32-bit. Isn't Ethereum POS? |
