223  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: announcement: the international "when-bitcoin-reaches 1000,- $ party" on: November 03, 2013, 12:30:15 PM
Name suggestion:

Bitcoin@1k Party

To use "Bitcoin" instead of "btc" is important because it should
be easy to be found by new people googling for bitcoin-news.

Dollar sign $ should be avoided in the name like fiat should
be avoided in the event  Wink

Anyway it's just an idea...

Ty, we are happy for all kind of ideas! And +1 for avoiding $ in the Name

I will come too. Tickets for 2 or ev more.

I have a great idea, let´s engage Alicia Keys to sing the "Proudhon song" at the party.

Ha ha, that would be awesome....

230  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: announcement: the international "when-bitcoin-reaches 1000,- $ party" on: October 31, 2013, 07:10:19 PM
1BTC? 1000$? For one day? [You didn't write anywhere how many days the event will take, so I assume it'll be one day]
In Poland I can live off that sum for three months. 1BTC is not a play-money for me.
Since I won't be a millionaire by 1000$, it's too big of a sum to loose in a single day. Count me out. My frugality says "not yet".

However if there will be another party at 10k$ priced at 0.2BTC, count me in!
Hi bcdev, my wife is from poland too, and i understand your arguments! In the first thread we did edid a few points like the following

our current plan is to play it this way: everything should get armed and ready to rumble within the next comiäng weeks and months. as soon bitcoin reaches 1000 $ and stays there for 5 days in a row (bitstamp $ 24 h average) this will be our trigger. since everything has been set up during the waiting period, after ignition triggers we will only need 6 -8 additonal weeks to actually unleash this monster.

So if you do not join the party, its your decission, but we would love to say "serdecznie witamy".
dzienkuje bardzo....

Hallo,

232  Economy / Economics / Re: Mass Adoption of BTC on: October 29, 2013, 09:18:01 PM
If everybody has it (or can borrow it), everybody wants it, and its fungible, divisible, transferable, and a store of value, then it will naturally become currency.

Simple really, isn't it?
Thats the point! It's really simple!!
233  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: announcement: the international "when-bitcoin-reaches 1000,- $ party" on: October 29, 2013, 08:06:31 PM
Would be kinda funny, ironic, and maybe even uncomfortable, if in the next year or two the US went into another even bigger recession (maybe spurned by more debt fights and an actual default), and the price of BTC goes to $1,000 only because USD plummets by 25% to 50%. We would essentially be having a huge celebration because of a USD crash  Tongue

(not that I think USD will crash that much. All those tanks and aircraft carriers are still worth a lot)

Interesting point of view! I see right now that Bitcoin is searching his real value! And i think we will reach the real value in about 5-10 years. After mass adoption... So our Party will be just one of the first bigger milestones in the bitcoin history and i'm sure all of us are ready to party....
234  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: announcement: the international "when-bitcoin-reaches 1000,- $ party" on: October 28, 2013, 06:08:46 PM
At the risk of sounding sexist, men are interested in business finance and investing, women are interested in home finance and building a nest egg for their kids and their own retirement (those women who only spend money their husbands earn, we are not interested in anyway). So... Uh... Use that.

good discussion, we should open an extra thread for this!

what else do you like to have on that party.... my brother put an eddit to the 1st post.... a little bit to read, but i hope you´ll like it!

c ya at hte party

(sept 2014, just my wish)

235  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: announcement: the international "when-bitcoin-reaches 1000,- $ party" on: October 28, 2013, 05:01:21 PM
You know, instead of free entry for women, or attracting women with wealthy guys and sports cars, why don't we just spend the next few months (years?) focusing on getting more women actually interested in bitcoin? That would be quite a bit less sexist. Plus if you meet single bitcoiner women there, you'll already have something in common.

+1

If I were female, this thread would discourage me from attending.

Honestly, I don't think it will be an issue. The San Jose conference, while still mostly male, had a significant number of women in attendance and I'm sure the trend will continue toward a more equitable ratio.

+1

Yesterday here at the Meeting in Stuttgart qwk mentioned.... We Need coloured coins! Lastest when pink coins exist we will gain loads of female members in Btc Community! Grin

What could we do? It's hard to get them involved in politics too.... But much harder in BTC....

237  Local / Treffen / Re: Bitcoin Community Region Stuttgart - Bezahlung mit BTC jetzt möglich! on: October 27, 2013, 10:21:59 PM
Oh man, so viele!

Schlafenszeit....
238  Economy / Speculation / Re: Memespeculation on: October 26, 2013, 07:50:35 AM
That's nice.... Cute bears going down the slide....next time we have to show it backwards!
239  Bitcoin / Meetups / Re: announcement: the international "when-bitcoin-reaches 1000,- $ party" on: October 25, 2013, 10:27:37 PM
Berlin. Massive party but also donations accepted in bitcoin for a charity or charities that accepts them. Not just a woohoo we have a few bucks party.

I think that's a good idea. Have some ways/action at the party to give to different charities. That way we don't look as much like rich assholes.

Rassah and I will both be there. If Phinnaeus and Jason (SeansOutpost) attend as well, that's the whole Bitcoin100 team. I'm sure we can come up with some kind of plan to raise bitcoins for charities. Maybe do a fundraiser and split the proceeds amongst all the charities we've convinced to accept BTC donations thus far.

I'm a little concerned about the amount of BTC that will be converted to fiat to make this party happen. We should be working on getting vendors/caterers/venues/entertainers/hotels/taxis/limos/restaurants/bars in the area to start accepting bitcoins as payment.

it would be awesome if you guys with your valuable experience would be willing to handle to charity part of the party. it could be a bitcoin100 project.  Smiley

It could be done very simply. We could print up a poster or pamphlet with a list of all the charities we've convinced to accept Bitcoin donations with a brief description of what they do and a QR code of their Bitcoin address. Attendees would just scan the code of their favorite organization and donate from their phones/tablets.

This sounds great! we are happy for any idea/help with that. Further details we could deal by mail or skype when the planning is a some steps further....
